Abstract
Mandibular prognathism (MP) is regarded as a craniofacial deformity resulting from the combined effects of environmental and genetic factors, while the genetically predetermined component is considered to play an important role to develop MP. Although linkage and association studies for MP have identified multiple strongly associated regions and genes, the causal genes and variants responsible for the deformity remain largely undetermined. To address this, we performed targeted sequencing of 396 genes selected from previous studies as well as genes and pathways related with craniofacial development as primary candidates in 199 MP cases and 197 controls and carried out a series of statistical and functional analyses. A nonsynonymous common variant of MYO1H rs3825393, C>T, p.Pro1001Leu, was identified to be significantly associated with MP. During zebrafish embryologic development, expression of MYO1H orthologous genes were detected at mandibular jaw. Furthermore, jaw cartilage defects were observed in zebrafish knockdown models. Collectively, these data demonstrate that MYO1H is required for proper jaw growth and contributes to MP pathogenesis, expanding our knowledge of the genetic basis of MP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study was to investigate the molecular role of Wnt5a on inflammation-driven intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). METHODS The expression of Wnt5a was analyzed in human nucleus pulposus (NP) tissues with immunohistochemical staining. The effects of Wnt5a on matrix production were assessed by RT-qPCR and western blotting. Small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), promoter deletion assay, and promoter binding site mutant were used to reveal the molecular role of Wnt5a in TNF-α-induced matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression. The regulatory effects of TNF-α on Wnt5a were investigated with pharmachemical inhibitors and siRNA experiment. RESULTS The expression of Wnt5a was elevated in moderately degenerated human NP tissue with similar expression pattern of TNF-α. In NP cells, Wnt5a significantly increased aggrecan and collagen II expression. Inhibition of JNK or interfering Sox9 gene expression significantly suppressed Wnt5a-induced matrix production. AP-1(JunB) binding sites were located in Sox9 promoter and mutation of these sites sabotaged Wnt5a-induced Sox9 up-regulation and subsequent matrix genes expression. Notably, Wnt5a, which was induced by TNF-α, on the other way round suppressed TNF-α-NF-κB (p65) signaling and subsequent MMPs expression. In vivo studies with MR imaging confirmed the protective role of Wnt5a in IVDD. CONCLUSIONS Wnt5a, which can be induced by TNF-α, increased matrix production in a Sox9-dependent manner through the activation of JNK-AP1 (JunB) signaling, and antagonized TNF-α-induced up-regulation of MMPs through the inhibition of NF-κB signaling. It indicates that Wnt5a suppresses IVDD through a TNF-α/NF-κB-Wnt5a negative-feedback loop.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between high risk HPV (HR-HPV) DNA load and cervical lesions in HR-HPV single/ multiple infections. Methods: Two thousand six hundred and forty-six women from Shanxi, Henan and Xinjiang were recruited into a cervical cancer screening program. Cervical exfoliated cell specimens collected from all of the participants were detected by hybrid capture Ⅱ (HC2), cytological diagnosis was performed according to the Bethesda System, and pathological diagnosis was interpreted using cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) terminology.Totally 571 cervical specimens were selected and retested to ascertain the HPV types and single/ multiple infections by liner array, a PCR-based method. Semi-quantitative result of HR-HPV DNA load (pg/ml) was estimated by HR HC2.According to the taxonomy of "International Human Papillomavirus Reference Center" , 13 HR-HPVs, including HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 and 68, which could be detected by HR HC2 were divided into 4 subgroups. Results: The positive rate of HR-HPV in normal cervix (436 cases), CIN1 (88 cases), CIN2+ (47 cases) group were 29.82%, 85.23% and 100%, respectively. The overall prevalence and median viral load increased coordinating with the pathological degree of cervical lesions (P<0.001). The positive rate and viral load of single infection with HR-HPV belongs to α9 species increased coordinating with the pathological degree of cervical lesions (P<0.05). The viral load of single infection with HR-HPV belongs to α7 species in CIN1 group was higher than those of normal group and CIN2+ group, but without statistical significance (P=0.130). The viral load of multiple infections in CIN1 group was 559.13 pg/ml, significantly higher than 37.73 pg/ml of normal histology (P=0.025), but without significant difference of 332.91 pg/ml of CIN2+ group (P=0.790). The median viral load of HPV single infection in CIN1 group was 167.93 pg/ml, significantly lower than 559.73 pg/ml of multiple infections (P=0.044). The incidence of co-infection with HR-HPVs belong to α9 species was 80.56%, dominated in all patterns of multiple infections and their median viral load increased coordinating with the pathological degree of cervical lesions, but without significant difference (P>0.05). The incidence of co-infection with HR-HPVs belong to α7 species was 66.67%, their median viral load in CIN1 group was higher than that of CIN2+ group, but without statistical significance (P>0.05). Conclusions: Viral loads of single/ multiple infections with HR-HPVs belong to different species show different tendencies coordinating with the pathological degree of cervical lesions. Women with high grade of cervical lesion were dominantly infected with high viral load of HR-HPVs belong to α9 species, and the viral load of multiple infections is higher than that of single infection in low grade of cervical lesion.

Abstract
Objective: To study the role of ApoE gene polymorphism on efficacy of atorvastatin in lowering the lipid and its clinical significance. Methods: A total of 962 patients with hypercholesterolemia were selected between January 1 st and December 31 st 2014. The ApoE genepolymorphism in patients with hyperlipidemia was performed by using polymerase chain reaction with restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method in translational medicine center of Huaihe Hospital. Patients with ApoE genotype E3/3 and E3/4 were selected and treated with atorvastatin 10 mg/d for 4 weeks. Before and after treatment, triglycerides (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) was detected by enzyme colorimetry method. High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were performed by Clearance method. Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) was performed by turbidimetric inhibition immunoassay. ApoE gene expression was performed by real-time PCR. Results: In the 6 gene types, the frequencies of E3/4 and E3/3 were 30.6% (294 cases) and 59.1% (569 cases) respectively. After treatment with atorvastatin, the change percent of TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, TG, Lp(a) in E3/4 and E3/3 group were -(23.0±4.7)% vs -(12.0±3.1)% (P<0.001), -(33.0±4.8)% vs -(20.0±3.9)% (P<0.001), (18.0±3.8)% vs (6.0±2.6)% (P<0.001), -(23.0±3.9)% vs -(13.0±2.7)% (P<0.001), -(21.5±4.5)% vs -(20.9±4.0)% (P=0.054), respectively. ApoE gene expression in E3/3 and E3/4 groups were down-regulated in both groups, and the change in E3/3 group was obvious than that of E3/4 group. Conclusion: After treatment with atorvastatin, levels of lipids and ApoE gene expression in ApoE genotype E3/3 patients decreased, which were more evident than E3/4 patients.

Abstract
Accurate partitioning of precipitation into infiltration and runoff is a fundamental objective of land surface models tasked with characterizing the surface water and energy balance. Temporal variability in this partitioning is due, in part, to changes in pre-storm soil moisture, which determine soil infiltration capacity and unsaturated storage. Utilizing the NASA Soil Moisture Active Passive Level-4 soil moisture product in combination with streamflow and precipitation observations, we demonstrate that land surface models (LSMs) generally underestimate the strength of the positive rank correlation between pre-storm soil moisture and event runoff coefficients (i.e., the fraction of rainfall accumulation depth converted into stormflow runoff during a storm event). Underestimation is largest for LSMs employing an infiltration-excess approach for stormflow runoff generation. More accurate coupling strength is found in LSMs that explicitly represent sub-surface stormflow or saturation-excess runoff generation processes.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Lutheran/BCAM protein (Lu) on the surface of erythrocytes is key for their adhesion to the endothelium, and erythrocytes from individuals with JAK2V617F-mutated myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) have increased endothelial adhesion. Splanchnic vein thrombosis (SVT) is a devastating thrombotic complication of MPN, and frequently, the only diagnostic feature is the JAK2V617F mutation. We sought to examine whether erythrocytes from patients with JAK2V617F mutated SVT (MPN-SVT) exhibited increased Lu expression, thereby supporting a mechanistic contribution to the development of thrombosis. METHODS We report the validation of a novel flow cytometry assay for Lu expression on erythrocytes. We examined the expression of Lu on erythrocytes from a cohort of MPN patients with and without SVT, and healthy controls. Samples were obtained from 20 normal individuals, 22 with MPN (both JAK2V617F-mutated and wild-type) and 8 with JAK2V617F-mutated MPN-SVT. RESULTS Lu expression by erythrocytes from patients with MPN and MPN-SVT is significantly increased compared to erythrocytes from healthy individuals (P < .05), but there was no significant difference between patients with MPN-SVT and MPN. CONCLUSIONS Patients with MPN have increased expression of the red cell Lu/BCAM adhesion molecule. Further work is required to determine the role of the increased Lu/BCAM adhesion to the endothelium in the development of thrombosis in MPN of all genotypes.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical value of magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) combined with 3D pseudo continuous arterial spin labeling (3D-pcASL) perfusion imaging in differential diagnosis of hyper-acute and acute ischemic cerebral infarction. Methods: A total of 42 patients with confirmed unilateral ischemic cerebral infarction from February 2015 to October 2017 of Affiliated Yancheng Hospital of Southeast University Medical College were collected. DTI and 3D-pcASL images of hyper-acute (14 patients, group A) and acute (28 patients, group B) ischemic cerebral infarction were retrospectively analyzed. The slice with the biggest lesion on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) was selected to measure the infarction area (S(DWI)) and abnormal cerebral blood flow (CBF) perfusion area (S(CBF)). Regions of interest (ROIs) were set on the infarction core (IC) area, mismatch area of S(CBF) and S(DWI) (MACD), and their corresponding contralateral regions. The values of CBF, average diffusion coefficient (DC(avg)), and fractional anisotropy (FA) parameter images in these ROIs in patients with both S(CBF)>S(DWI) and lower perfusion in the IC were recorded. The relative values of each infarction lesion to its corresponding contralateral region (rCBF, rFA, and rDC(avg)) were calculated. Differences of each parameter value between the IC, MACD and their corresponding contralateral regions and of the relative values between group A and group B were investigated. Results: The CBF and DC(avg) values in the IC and the CBF value in the MACD were lower than that of their corresponding contralateral regions in both groups (P<0.05). The DC(avg) in the MACD in group A patients and the FA in the IC in group B patients were lower than that in their corresponding contralateral regions (P<0.05). Compared to group A patients, group B patients showed decreased rFA, rDC(avg) in the IC and rFA in the MACD, and increased rDC(avg) and rCBF in the MACD (P<0.05). Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis indicated that the best diagnosis cut off values of the rFA and rDC(avg) values in the IC and the rCBF, rFA, and rDC(avg) values in the MACD were 0.890 and 0.541 and 1.139, 0.902 and 0.455, respectively, for identifying two groups. Conclusion: The changes of the CBF, FA, and DC(avg) values and their relative values can be applied to differentially diagnose patients with hyper-acute and acute cerebral infarction, which could provide the basis for selecting more reasonable treatment protocols.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the role of HPV viral loads in random biopsy under normal colposcopy. Methods: 908 atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) and HPV positive women, recruited in cluster sampling in 9 provinces including 5 urban areas and 9 rural areas in China from 1999 to 2008 and meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in this analysis. According to relative light units/cutoff (RLU/CO) value, subjects were stratified as low (286 cases), intermediate (311 cases) and high (311 cases) viral load groups. Risks of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 or worse (CIN3+) among different viral load groups were compared with linear trend Chi-square test. Results: Detection rate of CIN3+ in low, intermediate and high viral load groups were 2.1% (6 cases), 2.6% (8 cases) and 6.8% (21 cases) (Chi-square test for trend χ(2)=8.91, P=0.003) and were 60.3, 74.0 and 201.3 times higher than ASC-US and HPV negative women, respectively. Among 908 subjects, 27.0% (245 cases) were abnormal under colposcopy and 68.6% (623 cases) diagnosed as normal. Under normal colposcopy, detection rate of CIN3+ in low, intermediate and high viral load groups were 0.9% (2 cases), 0.9% (2 cases) and 3.8% (7 cases) (χ(2)=6.42, P=0.040). Conclusion: HPV viral loads display satisfactory risk stratification ability among ASC-US and HPV positive women under normal colposcopy. Women with high HPV viral loads show a significantly increased detection rate of existing CIN3+ and could be recommended to perform random biopsy for histologic diagnosis.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of anti-CD(25) monoclonal antibody for steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGVHD) in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) recipients. Methods: A total of 80 patients with SR-aGVHD from January 1st 2012 to December 31st 20l6 were enrolled in this study. Acute GVHD were classified as classic aGVHD (n=72) and late-onset aGVHD (n=8). Anti-CD(25) monoclonal antibodys (mAb) were administrated on days 1, 4, 8, 15, and 22. The efficacy of anti-CD(25) mAb was evaluated at day 28 after the initial treatment. The associated factors of clinical outcome were analyzed. Results: The overall response (OR) rate of anti-CD(25) mAb was 75% (60/80), with complete response (CR) rate, partial response (PR) rate and no response(NR) rate 52.5% (42/80), 22.5% (18/80), and 25% (20/80), respectively. GVHD-relapse was not observed with a median follow-up time of 394.5 days (range, 12-1 761 days). The 6-month overall survival (OS) rate was 68.4%(95%CI 63.2%-73.6%). The 1-year OS rate was 63.1% (95%CI 57.6%-68.6%), and 2-years OS rate was 50.7% (95%CI 44.3%-57.1%). Non-relapse mortality (NRM) rate of 1 and 3 years was 32.6% (95%CI 27.2%-38%) and 41.7% (95%CI 35.3%-48.1%), respectively. The 1 and 2 years cumulative incidence of chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) was 32.9% (95%CI 26.4%-39.4%) and 38.9% (95%CI 31.8%-46.0%). By univariate and multivariate analysis, liver involvement was an independent poor risk factor of SR-aGVHD (OR=4.66, 95%CI 1.145-18.962, P=0.032). Conclusion: Anti-CD(25) mAb serves as an alternative and effective salvage therapy for SR-aGVHD at present. Liver involvement is a predictive factor of poor response in patients with SR-aGVHD.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the effects of ADH1B and ALDH2 gene polymorphism and type of alcoholic beverage on ethanol metabolism, to provide data support for cases involving the interpretation of ethanol metabolism or back calculation of blood ethanol concentration in forensic practice. METHODS A total of 81 volunteers were selected. The genotypes of ADH1B, ADH1C and ALDH2 were obtained by a multiplex SNaPshot genotyping method. Each subject was administered with 1.0 g/kg of alcohol. About 1 mL venous blood was collected before and after the alcohol consumption at 30 min, 45 min, 1 h, 1.5 h, 2 h, 3 h, 4 h, 5 h, 6 h, 7 h and 8 h, respectively. The concentrations of ethanol and acetaldehyde in blood were determined by headspace gas chromatography. The peak times of blood ethanol concentration (Tmax), the peak mass concentrations of ethanol (Cmax), the area under curve (AUC) of ethanol (AUCethanol), AUCacetaldehyde and ethanol elimination rates (β) were calculated. In order to eliminate the influence of ADH1C, the ADH1C*1/*1 carriers were grouped based on the genotype of ADH1B and ALDH2. The data of each group were evaluated by one-way analysis of variance and pairwise comparison tests were performed by least significant difference method. The gene interactions were evaluated by two-way analysis of variance. Each parameter of three kinds of alcoholic beverage (white wine, red wine and beer) among groups was analysed by variance analysis with randomized block design. RESULTS There were no differences in the value of Tmax and Cmax between the groups with different ADH1B and ALDH2 genotype. The differences in the values of AUCethanol, β and AUCacetaldehyde among some groups carrying different ADH1B and ALDH2 genotype had statistical significance, while no significant difference was observed in these parameters when one individual taking same dose of different alcoholic beverage type. CONCLUSIONS The ethanol metabolism is associated with the related gene polymorphism, which is barely affected by alcoholic beverage type.

Abstract
Tuning of molecular conductance in a liquid environment is a hot topic in molecular electronics. In this article, we explore a new concept where the Fermi level positions of the metallic ends are varied simply by modifying the electroactive salt concentration in solution. We rely on the electrochemical scanning tunneling microscope break junction method that allows the construction in solution of copper atomic contacts that can be then bridged by single molecules. The experimental conductance evolution is first confronted with an analytical formulation that allows the deduction of the molecule's LUMO position and electronic coupling factors. These parameters are in close agreement with those obtained by independent DFT calculations.

Abstract
Neoseiulus barkeri (HUGHES) is the natural enemy of spider mites, whiteflies and thrips. Screening for chemically-resistant predatory mites is a practical way to balance the contradiction between the pesticide using and biological control. In this study, the number of eggs laid by fenpropathrin-susceptible and resistant strains of N. barkeri was compared. Additionally, we cloned three N. barkeri vitellogenin (Vg) genes and used quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction to quantify Vg expression in susceptible and resistant strains. The total number of eggs significantly increased in the fenpropathrin-resistant strain. The full-length cDNA cloning of three N. barkeri Vg genes (NbVg1, NbVg2 and NbVg3) revealed that the open reading frames of NbVg1, NbVg2 and NbVg3 were 5571, 5532 and 4728 bp, encoding 1856, 1843 and 1575 amino acids, respectively. The three N. barkeri Vg possessed the Vitellogenin-N domain (or lipoprotein N-terminal domain (LPD_N)), von Willebrand factor type D domain (VWD) and the domain with unknown function 1943 (DUF1943). The NbVg1 and NbVg2 expression levels were significantly higher in the resistant strain than in the susceptible strain, while the NbVg3 expression level was lower in the resistant strain. Thus, we speculate that the increased number of eggs laid by the fenpropathrin-resistant strain of N. barkeri may be a consequence of changes in Vg gene expression.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study examines the interplay among intergenerational emotional closeness, location of multiple children, and parental depressive symptoms in the context of massive migration in rural China. STUDY DESIGN This study is based on a longitudinal survey. METHODS Longitudinal data were collected from a stratified random sample of age 60 years and older living in rural townships within Chaohu, a primarily agricultural municipal district with massive out-migration in China. In 2009, 1224 individuals completed the survey, and 977 (79.8% of the original participants) were followed up in 2012. We estimate fixed-effects models to examine how changing collective emotional cohesion and the total composition of children's location affect parents' depressive symptoms. RESULTS Descriptive analyses show that both the composition of children's location and intergenerational emotional closeness are subject to changes during a 3-year survey interval. Results from fixed-effect models further demonstrate that collective emotional closeness and psychological well-being are positively associated with each other. This association is the strongest when all children are local, but it becomes less prominent when there are more migrant than local children. CONCLUSIONS This study has provided important evidence that both intergenerational cohesion and location of multiple children evolve over time and jointly influence parents' psychological well-being in later life. The left-behind older adults are not necessarily the most vulnerable group in rural China. Those with most adult children living close by could also suffer from a deficit in psychological well-being if the emotional bond between them is weak.

Abstract
We report on the synthesis of embedded gold (Au) nanoparticles (NPs) in Nd:YAG single crystals using ion implantation and subsequent thermal annealing. Both linear and nonlinear absorption of the Nd:YAG crystals have been enhanced significantly due to the embedded Au NPs, which is induced by the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect in the visible light wavelength band. Particularly, through a typical Z-scan system excited by a femtosecond laser at 515 nm within the SPR band, the nonlinear absorption coefficients of crystals with Au NPs have been observed to be nearly 5 orders of magnitude larger than that without Au NPs. This giant enhancement of nonlinear absorption properties is correlated with the saturable absorption (SA) effect, which is the basis of passive Q-switching or mode-locking for pulsed laser generation. In addition, the linear and nonlinear absorption enhancement could be tailored by varying the fluence of implanted Au+ ions, corresponding to the NP size and concentration modulation. Finally, the Nd:YAG wafer with embedded Au NPs has been applied as a saturable absorber in a Pr:LuLiF4 crystal laser cavity, and efficient pulsed laser generation at 639 nm has been realized, which presents superior performance to the MoS2 saturable absorber based system. This work opens an avenue to enhance and modulate the nonlinearities of dielectrics by embedding plasmonic Au NPs for efficient pulsed laser operation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the characterization of the salivary microbiome in people with obesity and the differences in microbial composition, gene function and metabolic pathways of salivary microbiome between people with obesity and normal weight controls. METHODS The study was carried out in people with obesity and age- and sex-matched normal weight controls. None of these selected participants had the systemic disease, oral mucosal disease or periodontal disease. Unstimulated saliva samples were collected and oral examination was conducted. DNAs from saliva samples were extracted and sequenced in an Illumina NextSeq 500 platform. Community composition, linear discriminant analysis of taxonomic differences, gene prediction, gene set construction and annotation of gene function were performed. RESULTS The classified bacterial reads of the samples were 2 630 428 for each sample. A total of 11 phyla, 19 classes, 26 orders, 41 families, 62 genera and 164 species were detected ultimately. All samples had the same predominant phyla (Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Actinobacteria and Fusobacteria). There were statistical differences between the groups at the class, order, family, genus and species levels. At the class level, Negativicutes and Erysipelotrichia were more abundant in the obesity group, while Flavobacteriia and Bateroidetes dominated in normal weight group (P<0.05). At the species level, 16 showed significant differences in relative abundance among the groups, in which Prevotella melaninogenica,Prevotella salivae,Solobacterium moorei and Atopobium parvulum ware more abundant in the obesity group, whereas Streptococcus sanguinis dominated in normal weight group (P<0.05). The people with obesity had a higher number of salivary microbial genes (P<0.05). We produced statistics on gene prediction and found salivary microbiome of obesity group had a higher number of genes (P < 0.05). Genes associated with the pathways of metabolism and environmental information processing and human diseases were significantly enriched in the saliva samples of people with obesity (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION Significant differences were seen in composition, gene function and metabolic pathways of salivary microbiome between people with obesity and normal weight people. We hope to go on further study with larger sample size in the near future.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the influence of the rough surface of dental implants prepared by selective laser melting (SLM) on early bone healing around titanium implants. METHODS A total of sixteen titanium implants were involved in our research, of which eight implants were prepared by SLM (TIXOS Cylindrical, Leader-Novaxa, Milan, Italy; 3.3 mm×10 mm, internal hex) and the other eight were sandblasted, large-grit and acid-etched (SLA) implants (IMPLUS Cylindrical, Leader-Novaxa, Milan, Italy; 3.3 mm×10 mm, internal hex). All of the dental implants were inserted into the healed extraction sockets of the mandible of two adult male Beagle dogs. Half of the dental implants were designed to be healed beneath the mucosa and the other half were intended to be healed transgingivally and were immediately loaded by acrylic resin bridge restoration. Three types of tetracycline fluorescent labels, namely calcein blue, alizarin complexone and calcein, were administered into the veins of the Beagle dogs 2, 4, and 8 weeks after implant placement respectively for fluorescent evaluation of newly formed bone peri-implant. Both Beagle dogs were euthanized 12 weeks after implant insertion and the mandible block specimens containing the titanium implants and surrounding bone and soft tissue of each dog were carefully sectioned and dissected. A total of 16 hard tissue slices were obtained and stained with toluidine blue for microscopic examination and histomorphometric measurements. Histological observation was made for each slice under light microscope and laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM). Comparison on new bone formation around titanium implants of each group was made and mineral apposition rate (MAR) was calculated for each group. RESULTS Dental implants prepared by selective laser melting had achieved satisfying osseointegration to surrounding bone tissue after the healing period of 12 weeks. Newly formed bone tissue was observed creeping on the highly porous surface of the SLM implant and growing into the pores of surface structure. Higher MAR values were shown for SLM implants compared with SLA implants (P<0.01). CONCLUSION Dental implants prepared by selective laser melting could promote early bone healing and improve mineral apposition rate.

Abstract

Abstract
This retrospective study investigated the efficiency of nutritional support in unresectable locally advanced oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (LAOSCC) patients who received concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) based on 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin. In the routine care group, 63 patients served as historical controls and received nutrition support in a reactive manner. In addition, 57 patients in the nutritional support group received timely diet counselling, oral nutritional supplements, enteral nutrition and/or parenteral nutrition during CCRT. This support was based on scores from nutritional risk screening 2002 (NRS-2002) after June 2014. The nutritional support group had significant advantages over the routine care group with respect to the incidence of neutropenia, the objective response rate, the change in serum albumin and the lengths of hospital stay. In addition, the nutritional support group had significantly higher levels of IgG and IL-2, higher proportions of NK, CD3+ and CD4+ cells as well as a higher ratio of CD4+ /CD8+ cells than the routine care group (p < .05). In contrast, the nutritional support group had a significantly lower level of IL-6. In conclusion, the current nutritional care programme could bring benefits of improving treatment compliance, reducing toxicity and lengths of hospital stay and enhancing the immune response.

Abstract
We observed the dramatic enhancement of the intrinsic spontaneous and stimulated emission as well as the ensuing suppression of defect-related green emission in Au-decorated ZnO microrods. A series of spectral experiments and theoretical analysis demonstrated an electron transfer assisted process by surface plasmon (SP) resonant coupling between the Au nanoparticles and ZnO. The mechanism indicates an approach to enhance the UV emission of ZnO through an extra excitation of visible light similar to that for the defect emission of ZnO. Based on the coupling mechanism, the externally enhanced ultraviolet lasing was further improved from 1.5 to 2.8-fold by adjusting the pumping power of the green light intensity in the Au/ZnO hybrid cavity. This research not only further confirms the SPR-assisted electron transfer process but also offers an approach to improve the intrinsic UV emission even for heavily-defected ZnO through visible light excitation via a nonlinear process.

Abstract
Objective Evidence shows that magnesium has anti-arrhythmic roles. However, clinical trials suggest that there are conflicting outcomes of cardiac arrest patients given magnesium. The study aimed to examine the effects of magnesium sulfate therapy on cardiac arrest patients using a meta-analysis. Methods We searched the MEDLINE (1966-July 2011), OVID (1980-July 2011), EMBASE (1980-July 2011), Chinese bio-medical literature & retrieval system (1978-July 2011), Chinese medical current contents (1995-July 2011), and Chinese medical academic conference (1994-July 2011). Studies were included if (1) the study design was a randomised controlled trial (RCT); (2) the study population included cardiac arrest patients who received cardiopulmonary resuscitation and either intravenous magnesium or placebo (0.9% normal saline); (3) the study provided data on return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and survival to hospital discharge. Relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were used to pool the effect. Results The study included six RCTs with a total of 531 participants from cardiac arrest. The pooled data demonstrated that ROSC and hospital discharge rates in patients treated with magnesium were 35.5% (95% CI=29.7%-41.3%) and 10.4% (95% CI=6.7%-14.1%) compared with placebo (ROSC rate: 31.3%, 95% CI=25.8%-36.8%; hospital discharge rate: 8.5%, 95% CI=5.2%-11.8%). Administration of intravenous magnesium sulfate could not significantly increase ROSC (RR=1.14, 95% CI=0.91-1.43, P=0.26) and survival to hospital discharge (RR=1.22, 95% CI=0.74-2.02, P=0.43) compared with placebo. Conclusions Administration of magnesium sulfate does not improve ROSC and survival to hospital discharge in patients of cardiac arrest.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this investigation is to determine if the protein expression of the Wnt/β-catenin signal pathway is induced after acute renal injury in patients with acute tubular necrosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Sixty patients in who met inclusion criteria underwent renal biopsy. Based on the result of the biopsy, patients were divided into two groups: one with nephrotic syndrome with mini-change disease (MCD group, 30 patients), the other one with minor lesions and acute tubular necrosis (ATN, 30 patients). Biopsy sections were stained with either periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) or Masson stain and examined under light microscopy to determine the degree of tubulointerstitial injury and renal tubular interstitial fibrosis, respectively. The expression of Wnt/β-catenin signal proteins in renal tissue was resolved immunohistochemically using protein-specific antisera. RESULTS The typically silent Wnt/β-catenin signal pathway in normal kidneys was noted to be upregulated in patients in either the MCD and ATN groups; that expression was statistically significantly higher in the ATN group as compared to the MCD group (p < 0.05). The degree of renal tissue injury was statistically significantly higher in the ATN group as compared to the MCD group (p < 0.05). Also, the degree of tubulointerstitial fibrosis was significantly higher in the ATN group as compared to the MCD group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Results of this investigation confirm the expression of Wnt/β-catenin signal pathway in renal tissue in patients with acute renal injury and nephrotic syndrome, which appear to be important in the host biological response to necrosis, fibrosis, and proliferation.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the predictive value of serial platelet function testing (PFT) on outcome in patients undergoing complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: Six hundred and two consecutive patients undergoing complex PCI in Anzhen hospital were enrolled during October 2011 to June 2012.Adenosine diphosphate(ADP)-induced platelet aggregation was measured by light transmission aggregometry on the first, sixth and twelfth month after PCI and the mean value was calculated. The cut-off value of high on-treatment platelet reactivity (HTPR) was defined as 40%.The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular and cerebral event (MACCE). Clinical outcomes were analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method and differences were compared using the log-rank test.Multivariate analyses by Cox proportion hazards regression were applied to identify variables independently associated with the adverse outcomes. Results: Five hundred and eighty-five patients (HTPR, n=285; non-HTPR, n=280) finished the follow-up ((28.47±7.45) months). A total of 33 cases of MACCE were observed during the follow-up, among which 29 cases(8.42%) were in HTPR group and 9 cases (3.21%) in the non-HTPR group.Kaplan-Meier analysis suggested that HTPR was associated with an increased incidence of MACCE (log-rank test, P=0.01). The Cox multivariate analysis indicated that HTPR was an independent risk factor of MACCE (HR=2.69, 95%CI 1.23-5.85, P=0.01) in patients undergoing complex PCI.Incidence of MACCE was similar between HTRP patients receiving standard dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) or prolonged DAPT (>12 months). Conclusion: Serial PFT could predict the long-term prognosis of patients underwent complex PCI.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the changes of brain activities in traffic accident survivors with acute stress response (ASR) within a week by using complex networks analysis method based on graph-theory, and to find out the alteration of topological properties in structural brain network. Method: From January, 2013 to February, 2016, twenty traffic accidents survivors with acute stress disorders (Acute Stress Disorder Interview, ASDI>3)and twenty healthy controls underwent the 3T diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) magnetic resonance imaging scan in Nanjing General Hospital. The graph-theory analysis method was used to compare the structural brain network properties and nodal features between ASR survivors and controls.Statistical analyses were also performed by including anxiety and depression as covariates to evaluate their effect. In additional, Pearson correlation was performed between abnormal parametric values and clinical indices. Results: (1) The brain structural networks had small-world properties in both groups; (2) while compared with healthy controls, patients with ASR showed increased weighted connectivity strength (Si, 1.36±0.47 vs 0.92±0.38, P=0.008) and nodal betweenness centrality (BCi, 20±15 vs 7±6, P=0.002) in left triangular part of inferior frontal (IFG triang_L), increased Si in orbital part of inferior frontal gyrus (1.10±0.31 vs 0.77±0.30, P=0.004) and obviously decreased Si in left caudate (0.75±0.24 vs 1.04±0.35, P=0.004); (3) furthermore, the inclusion of anxiety and depression as covariates abolished nodal parameters differences in IFG triang_L, left caudate, thalamus and inferior temporal gyrus. Conclusions: The brain structure network in ASR patients has small world properties. But nodal parameters change obviously in some nodes compared with healthy controls and mainly locate in prefrontal lobe and striatum. High levels of anxiety and depression in ASR patients may partly account for these alterations.

Abstract
Objective: To determine critical reference value (cut-off value) of serum pro-gastrin-releasing peptide (ProGRP) and neuron specific enolase(NSE) in the diagnosis of small cell lung cancer(SCLC). To evaluate the clinical significance of serum levels of ProGRP and NSE in diagnosis and differential diagnosis in SCLC. Methods: Three hundred and fifty-two SCLC patients, 163 non small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients , 193 benign pulmonary disease patients and 140 healthy people visiting in National Cancer Hospital were analyzed retrospectively from January 2014 to July 2017.The levels of serum ProGRP and NSE of people were determined using electrochemiluminescent immunoassay respectively . Reference value ranges of the makers were determined by using the method of ROC curves. Results: In NSCLC group, benign lung disease group, healthy control group and mixed group (NSCLC+ lung benign diseases+ healthy control group) as a reference, the cut-off values were 58.3, 62.3, 57.8, 61.3 ng/L. In the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of SCLC and NSCLC, benign lung diseases, healthy controls and mixed group, AUC of ProGRP was 0.940 (0.919-0.961), 0.941 (0.921-0.960), 0.959 (0.944-0.975), 0.946 (0.928-0.963) respectively. The sensitivities of ProGRP were 86.4%, 84.9%, 86.4% and 84.7% respectively. The specificities of ProGRP were 95.7%, 96.9%, 99.3%, 98% respectively. In all groups the Youden's index of ProGRP and NSE were 0.821 vs 0.612, 0.818 vs 0.674, 0.857 vs 0.810, 0.827 vs 0.674. In healthy controls, no statistically significant difference was found between ProGRP and NSE (P>0.05) in the diagnosis of AUC. However, in the remaining 3 groups, the ProGRP diagnosis of AUC was significantly greater than that of NSE (P<0.01). Compared with single marker detection, the sensitivity of combined detection of ProGRP and NSE in diagnosis of SCLC increased to 95.5%, 94%, 96.6% and 94% in each group. There was no significant difference between ProGRP and ProGRP+ NSE in the diagnosis of AUC when compared with the NSCLC group and the mixed group (P>0.05). However, when combined with a healthy control group and a benign lung disease group, the ProGRP+ NSE combination was the highest for AUC diagnosis, compared with ProGRP and NSE (P<0.01). In the SCLC ED group serum ProGRP and NSE levels[776.33(3 103.4)ng/L, 52.14(60.59)μg/L]were higher than those in the SCLC LD group[295.59(799.65)ng/L, 23.36(22.97)μg/L], respectively (all P<0.001). The serum ProGRP levels of N0, N1, N2 and N3 in TNM staging were 113.0(343.65), 167.04(724.56), 427.42(1 388.62), 735.99(1 709.95)ng/L respectively (all P<0.001). Serum ProGRP and NSE levels were not statistically different between the sex groups and the age groups (all P>0.05). Conclusion: To establish the cut-off value of serum ProGRP is helpful for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of SCLC.

Abstract
The periodontal probe is the gold standard tool for periodontal examinations, including probing depth measurements, but is limited by systematic and random errors. Here, we used photoacoustic ultrasound for high-spatial resolution imaging of probing depths. Specific contrast from dental pockets was achieved with food-grade cuttlefish ink as a contrast medium. Here, 39 porcine teeth (12 teeth with artificially deeper pockets) were treated with the contrast agent, and the probing depths were measured with novel photoacoustic imaging and a Williams periodontal probe. There were statistically significant differences between the 2 measurement approaches for distal, lingual, and buccal sites but not mesial. Bland-Altman analysis revealed that all bias values were < ±0.25 mm, and the coefficients of variation for 5 replicates were <11%. The photoacoustic imaging approach also offered 0.01-mm precision and could cover the entire pocket, as opposed to the probe-based approach, which is limited to only a few sites. This report is the first to use photoacoustic imaging for probing depth measurements with potential implications to the dental field, including tools for automated dental examinations or noninvasive examinations.

Abstract
Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) exhibit excellent optoelectronic properties. However, the large band gaps in many semiconducting TMDCs make optical absorption in the near-infrared (NIR) wavelength regime impossible, which prevents applications of these materials in optical communications. In this work, we demonstrate that Ar+ ion irradiation is a powerful post-synthesis technique to tailor the optical properties of the semiconducting tungsten disulfide (WS2) by creating S-vacancies and thus controlling material stoichiometry. First-principles calculations reveal that the S-vacancies give rise to deep states in the band gap, which determine the NIR optical absorption of the WS2 monolayer. As the density of the S-vacancies increases, the enhanced NIR linear and saturable absorption of WS2 is observed, which is explained by the results of first-principles calculations. We further demonstrate that by using the irradiated WS2 as a saturable absorber in a waveguide system, the passively Q-switched laser operations can be optimized, thus opening new avenues for tailoring the optical response of TMDCs by defect-engineering through ion irradiation.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effects of tea and coffee intakes on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) stratified by milk intake. Methods: A case-control study involving 593 OSCC patients confirmed by pathological diagnoses and 1 128 gender-age frequency matched controls was conducted in Fujian province during September 2010-March 2016. Unconditional logistic regression was used to calculate adjusted odds ratios (aORs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to assess the effects of coffee, tea intakes and related variables on OSCC. Additive interaction was estimated by relative excess risk interaction (RERI), attributable proportions interaction (API) and synergy index (SI). Results: Tea intake was significantly associated with decreased risk of OSCC: the adjusted ORs were 0.54 for all subjects (95%CI: 0.41-0.71), 0.47 for milk consumers (95%CI: 0.31-0.71) and 0.57 for non-milk consumers (95%CI: 0.40-0.81). Moreover, starting tea drinking at age ≥25 years, moderate tea concentration and water temperature, drinking green tea and oolong tea showed effects to decrease the risk for OSCC in three groups. Additionally, there was a tendency of a reduced risk with increased daily tea drinking and longer tea-drinking period (all trend P<0.05). No significant association was observed between coffee intake and OSCC. A multiplicative but not additive interactions was found between tea drinking and milk intake. Additionally, we did not observe multiplicative and additive interaction between coffee drinking and milk intake. Conclusion: Tea drinking is a protective factor for OSCC, and there is a multiplicative interaction between tea drinking and milk intake. Therefore, tea drinking and increasing intake of milk can reduce the risk of OSCC at certain extent.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects between fish, seafood and pickled food intakes on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Methods: A case-control study was carried out in Fujian area during September 2010 to December 2016, in which 604 newly diagnosed primary OSCC cases confirmed by pathological diagnosis were collected from hospital and 1 343 control subjects were enrolled from community and healthy hospital population. Demographic data, history of smoking drinking and tea drinking, oral hygiene status and dietary behaviors (fish, seafood and pickled food intakes) were collected by in-person interviews using a standard questionnaire.Using unconditional logistic regression to estimate adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to assess the effects of fish, seafood and pickled food intakes on OSCC. Analysis stratified by smoking, alcohol drinking and bad prosthesis to explore the possible difference in association between subgroups. Multiplicative interactions and additive interactions between fish and bad prosthesis, seafood and alcohol drinking, pickled food and bad prosthesis were assessed by unconditional logistic regression, relative excess risk due to interaction (RERI), attributable proportion due to interaction (AP) and synergy index (S). Results: The average age of case group and control group were separately (58.69±13.92) years old and (59.27±11.37) years old (χ(2)=4.75, P=0.191). The people whose fish and seafood intakes ≥3 times/week had the lower risk of OSCC, the adjusted OR (95%CI) values were 0.63 (0.52-0.77) and 0.51 (0.41-0.64); The stratified analysis indicated that the people having bad prosthesis had the lower risk of OSCC if they eating fish ≥3 times/week, and the adjusted OR (95%CI) values was 0.53 (0.39-0.71); the people having bad prosthesis had the higher risk of OSCC if they eating pickled food ≥3 times/week, the adjusted OR (95%CI) values was 1.37 (1.02-1.88). Regularly eating seafood can decrease the risk of OSCC for non-smokers, smokers, non-drinkers, drinkers, people without bad prosthesis and had bad prosthesis, the adjusted OR (95%CI) values were 0.49 (0.36-0.68), 0.52 (0.37-0.73), 0.41 (0.31-0.55), 0.77 (0.51-0.96), 0.49 (0.36-0.67), 0.59 (0.42-0.83). Crossover analysis showed fish and bad prosthesis exist multiplication interaction relationship (adjusted OR=0.66, 95%CI: 0.44-0.97) and additional interaction relationship (RERI=-0.81, 95%CI:-1.43--0.19; AP=-0.76, 95%CI:-1.35--0.17; S=0.08, 95%CI: 0.01-0.98); pickled food and bad prosthesis exist multiplication interaction relationship (adjusted OR=1.63, 95%CI: 1.06-2.51) and addition interaction relationship (RERI=0.65, 95%CI:0.08-1.22; AP=0.36, 95%CI:0.10-0.62; S=5.19, 95%CI:1.32-54.49). Conclusion: Reducing the consumption of pickled food, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol consumption, and regularly eating fish and seafood can prevent the occurrence of OSCC.

Abstract
PURPOSE We conduct this study to compare the efficacy and toxicity of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) concurrent weekly nedaplatin (NDP) versus IMRT alone in the stage III/IV non-surgical elderly patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS 117 patients were enrolled into our study. The patients were assigned into two different groups: radiotherapy (RT) group and chemoradiotherapy (CRT) group. Patients in RT group were treated with IMRT at a single daily dose of 2 Gy for 5 days per week, totally 52-66 Gy. The CRT group, IMRT concurrent weekly NDP at a dose of 25 mg/m2. RESULTS In CRT group, the median survival was 11.0 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 8.894-13.106 months) and in RT group, it was 7.0 months (95% CI 5.771-8.229 months). The 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, survival rates in the combined treatment arm were higher than the radiation therapy arm (46.8 vs 25.9%, 25.1 vs 11.8%, 14.7 vs 8.0%; p < 0.001). The Cox's multiple regression analysis showed that CRT had significantly better overall survival than RT (HR 0.523; 95.0% CI 0.338-0.807; p = 0.003). The objective response rate provided that 73.3% treated with CRT compared with 51.1% (p = 0.018) received RT alone. Of the hematologic toxicities, leukocytes (35.0 vs 0%; p < 0.001), neutrophils (33.3 vs 0%; p < 0.001) were significantly more common in the CRT group than the RT group. CONCLUSIONS We first discovered that NDP concurrent IMRT for treating stage III/IV non-surgical elderly patients with NSCLC was good curative effect of better objective response rate and well-tolerated. However, within the low number of patients, only stage IV gained a survival benefit.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical validity of a new ultrahigh-throughput non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) based on combinatorial probe-anchor ligation (cPAL) sequencing of cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) using centralized testing. METHODS Maternal plasma samples were obtained from 10 594 singleton pregnancies in high-risk populations at 20 centers in China, including 8155 that were collected retrospectively and 2439 prospectively. Fetal outcome data and karyotyping results were documented as gold standard and were double blinded during NIPT. The clinical performance of the ultrahigh-throughput sequencing method, cPAL, for NIPT was validated by evaluating its sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value (PPV) in detecting trisomies 21, 18 and 13 as the centralized testing mode in the reference laboratory. To ensure stable and reproducible performance of centralized cPAL-based NIPT in detecting trisomies, a series of quality-control systems, including sequencing of two sets of artificial samples, were employed and evaluated. RESULTS Ten prospective cases were excluded from the study because of incomplete clinical data. Four prospective samples failed to generate a NIPT result due to assay failure, presenting a failure rate of 0.16% (4/2429). A total of 168 retrospective cases and 47 prospective cases had a positive NIPT result for trisomy, giving respective positive rates of 2.06% and 1.94%. Four false-positive and no false-positive cases were observed in the retrospective and prospective groups, respectively, resulting in PPV of 97.62% (95% CI, 94.02-99.35%) and 100% (95% CI, 92.45-100%), respectively. In the retrospective group, sensitivity and specificity were, respectively, 100% (95% CI, 97.07-100%) and 99.98% (95% CI, 99.94-100%) for trisomy 21, 100% (95% CI, 97.75-100%) and 99.98% (95% CI, 99.94-100%) for trisomy 18, and 100% (95% CI, 15.81-100%) and 100% (95% CI, 99.95-100%) for trisomy 13. In the prospective group, sensitivity and specificity were, respectively, 100% (95% CI, 90.75-100%) and 100% (95% CI, 99.85-100%) for trisomy 21, 100% (95% CI, 63.06-100%) and 100% (95% CI, 99.85-100%) for trisomy 18, and 100% (95% CI, 2.50-100%) and 100% (95% CI, 99.85-100%) for trisomy 13. CONCLUSION In this multicenter study with a full quality-control system, NIPT by centralized cPAL-based testing showed high stability and performance comparable to those of previous validation studies in high-risk populations.
