Abstract
A dual signal-amplified sandwich electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor was fabricated for trace detection of procalcitonin (PCT). CeO2-Au@Pt composed of sea urchin-like Au@Pt nanoparticles coated on CeO2 hollow nanospheres was immobilized on electrode surface to electrochemically catalyze H2O2 to produce a large number of superoxide anion (O2•-). The immunosensor was prepared by linking the capture antibody on immobilized CeO2-Au@Pt with heptapeptide (HWRGWVC), which could maintain the activity of the antibody. The prepared Au star@BSA was used to bind abundant luminol for labeling the secondary antibody (Ab2). Upon the sandwich-typed immunoreactions, the O2•- could react with the introduced luminol on the immunosensor surface to produce strong ECL intensity. With an outstanding linear detection range and a low detection limit of 17 fg/mL, the ECL immunosensor permitted ultrasensitive detection of PCT at a low H2O2 concentration and demonstrated its high application potential in the clinical assay.

Abstract
While biochar supported iron materials have been widely studied in advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), little is known about the effect and mechanism of goethite/biochar in sulfate radical (SO4-) based AOPs. Herein, a novel goethite/biochar composite was applied as peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activator for tetracycline (TC) degradation in the water. The superior catalytic efficiency of goethite/biochar was achieved through radical (OH and SO4-) and non-radical (1O2) processes according to the radicals quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance analysis. Carbonyl group and Fe species were the main active sites on the surface of goethite/biochar, which was demonstrated by combining Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and reaction kinetic experiments. Furthermore, nine main by-products of TC degradation were detected by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and the reasonable degradation pathway was proposed according to the molecular structure analysis. Overall, the goethite/biochar materials could be applied to activate PMS for TC degradation, and this study will benefit the application of iron/biochar materials in practical water treatment.

Abstract
We report a measurement of the observed cross sections of e^{+}e^{-}→J/ψX based on 3.21 fb^{-1} of data accumulated at energies from 3.645 to 3.891 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider. In analysis of the cross sections, we measured the decay branching fractions of B(ψ(3686)→J/ψX)=(64.4±0.6±1.6)% and B(ψ(3770)→J/ψX)=(0.5±0.2±0.1)% for the first time. The energy-dependent line shape of these cross sections cannot be well described by two Breit-Wigner (BW) amplitudes of the expected decays ψ(3686)→J/ψX and ψ(3770)→J/ψX. Instead, it can be better described with one more BW amplitude of the decay R(3760)→J/ψX. Under this assumption, we extracted the R(3760) mass M_{R(3760)}=3766.2±3.8±0.4 MeV/c^{2} , total width Γ_{R(3760)}^{tot}=22.2±5.9±1.4 MeV, and product of leptonic width and decay branching fraction Γ_{R(3760)}^{ee}B[R(3760)→J/ψX]=(79.4±85.5±11.7) eV. The significance of the R(3760) is 5.3σ. The first uncertainties of these measured quantities are from fits to the cross sections and second systematic.

O-137 Salpingectomy versus neosalpingostomy in women with hydrosalpinx: a prospective cohort study with long-term follow-up. Hum Reprod 2021. Abstract
Abstract
Study question
What is the comparative effectiveness between salpingectomy and neosalpingostomy in the treatment of bilateral severe hydrosalpinx?
Summary answer
In women with bilateral severe hydrosalpinx, salpingectomy combined with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment resulted in a higher cumulative live birth rate than neosalpingostomy.
What is known already
Hydrosalpinx accounts for 25% to 35% of female subfertility and has a negative effect on pregnancy rates in women who undergo IVF. So far salpingectomy before in vitro fertilization treatment has been suggested for the treatment of hydrosalpinx in order to improve the chance of a live birth. Previous studies have reported a pooled live birth rate of 25% through natural conception after neosalpingostomy and an ongoing pregnancy rate of 55.8% after salpingectomy with IVF. Direct comparison of the cumulative live birth rate after salpingectomy versus neosalpingostomy, both followed by IVF is lacking.
Study design, size, duration
We performed a single center, prospective comparative cohort study in the International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, China. We studied women diagnosed with tubal subfertility with bilateral hydrosalpinx between January 2005 and December 2012. Based on a shared decision approach, they had bilateral salpingectomy or neosalpingostomy followed by IVF. They were annually followed up until July 2020 for the occurrence of live birth.
Participants/materials, setting, methods
Out of 113 women, 55 had bilateral salpingectomy and 58 had bilateral neosalpingostomy. Primary outcome was cumulative live birth rate, defined as the cumulative birth rate of the first living neonate through either natural conception or in vitro fertilization. Both intention-to-treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) analysis were processed. Cox proportional hazards regression model with potential variables was performed to identify predictors of successful live birth.
Main results and the role of chance
Baseline characteristics were comparable between two groups. There were 42 live births in the salpingectomy and 36 in the neosalpingostomy group. When the result of IVF was incorporated (55/55 in salpingectomy group and 25/58 in neosalpingostomy group underwent IVF), salpingectomy resulted in a higher cumulative live birth rate (85.3% vs 76.0%; hazard ratio of the whole survival curve, 2.18; 95% CI, 1.37 - 3.45; P = 0.001), a lower risk of ectopic pregnancy (1.8% vs 20.7%; risk ratio, 0.07; 95% CI, 0.01 - 0.57; P = 0.013), and a shorter time to live birth (19 [14,27] versus 36 [17,76] months, P = 0.001).The number of live birth rates after natural conception was 0% (0/55) in the salpingectomy group and 28% (16/58) in neosalpingostomy group. The results of PP analyses were comparable with the ITT analyses apart from the biochemical pregnancy rate and the overall live birth rate, they were higher (the former: 76% (42/55) versus 58% (29/50), P = 0.045; the latter: 76% (42/55) versus 56% (28/50), P = 0.027) in salpingectomy group.
Limitations, reasons for caution
This is an observational study. The small sample size along with the data was obtained from a cohort study in a single center.
Wider implications of the findings
In women with confirmed bilateral severe hydrosalpinx, salpingectomy followed by IVF results in a higher cumulative live birth rate and decreases the risk of EP as compared to neosalpingostomy. However, neosalpingostomy is the only option to achieve a live birth by natural conception that should be discussed with patients preoperatively.

Abstract
UNLABELLED We investigated the association of objectively ascertained sibling fracture history with major osteoporotic fracture (hip, forearm, humerus, or clinical spine) risk in a population-based cohort using administrative databases. Sibling fracture history is associated with increased major osteoporotic fracture risk, which has implications for fracture risk prediction. INTRODUCTION We aimed to determine whether objectively ascertained sibling fracture history is associated with major osteoporotic fracture (MOF; hip, forearm, humerus, or clinical spine) risk. METHODS This retrospective cohort study used administrative databases from the province of Manitoba, Canada, which has a universal healthcare system. The cohort included men and women 40+ years between 1997 and 2015 with linkage to at least one sibling. The exposure was sibling MOF diagnosis occurring after age 40 years and prior to the outcome. The outcome was incident MOF identified in hospital and physician records using established case definitions. A multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to estimate the risk of MOF after adjustment for known fracture risk factors. RESULTS The cohort included 217,527 individuals; 91.9% were linked to full siblings (siblings having the same father and mother) and 49.0% were females. By the end of the study period, 6255 (2.9%) of the siblings had a MOF. During a median follow-up of 11 years (IQR 5-15), 5235 (2.4%) incident MOF were identified in the study cohort, including 234 hip fractures. Sibling MOF history was associated with an increased risk of MOF (hazard ratio [HR] 1.67, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.44-1.92). The risk was elevated in both men (HR 1.57, 95% CI 1.24-1.98) and women (HR 1.74, 95% CI 1.45-2.08). The highest risk was associated with a sibling diagnosis of forearm fracture (HR 1.81, 95% CI 1.53-2.15). CONCLUSION Sibling fracture history is associated with increased MOF risk and should be considered as a candidate risk factor for improving fracture risk prediction.

Zhan Y, Yang MR, Zhang S, Pan H, Wang WD, Yan L. Phylogenetic diversity contributes more to sediment magnetism than abundance during incubation of iron-reducing sediment from a non-active volcanic lake in Northeast China. J Appl Microbiol 2021; 131:1813-1829. [PMID: 33772951 DOI: 10.1111/jam.15086] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/06/2020] [Revised: 01/18/2021] [Accepted: 03/22/2021] [Indexed: 12/01/2022]
Abstract
AIM This study aimed to analyse bacterial community and biomineralization products from Wudalianchi non-active volcanic field and the relationship between magnetization and bacterial community. METHODS AND RESULTS Eighteen sediment samples obtained from Wenbo Lake, high-throughput sequencing and quantitative PCR (qPCR) were separately employed to investigate the bacterial community composition dynamics and abundance variation of the sediment sample with the highest iron-reducing capacity during incubation. The mineralization products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and variable-temperature magnetism analyses. The results showed that the highest iron reduction rate was 98·06%. Seven phyla were identified as dominant bacterial phyla during the incubation process. Iron-reducing bacteria (FeRB) including Geobacter, Desulfosporosinus and Clostridium were involved in the iron mineralization process. The 16S rDNA copy numbers of sediment decreased quickly and then stayed steady during the incubation. Bacteria with rod-shaped and spheroid species were involved in extracellular iron reduction to produce magnetic particles with massive aggregation and columnar structures on the mineral surface morphologies. The materials produced by the microbial community over the incubation period were sequentially identified as siderite, magnetite and maghemite. The magnetism of the mineral samples gradually increased from 0·31748 to 33·58423 emu g-1 with increased incubation time. The final products showed relatively stable magnetism under 0-400 K. Meanwhile, the saturation magnetization (MS ) of the mineralized substance was tightly associated with bacterial diversity (P < 0·05). CONCLUSIONS Bacterial community varied during incubation of iron-reducing sediment of volcanic lake. Various iron mineral crystals were in turn formed extracellularly by FeRB. The magnetism of mineralized products was tightly associated with bacterial community. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY These results not only help us to better understand the iron mineralization of FeRB in the volcanic lake sediments but also provide basic information for the future application of FeRB in environmental bioremediation.

Abstract
We report a study of the processes of e^{+}e^{-}→K^{+}D_{s}^{-}D^{*0} and K^{+}D_{s}^{*-}D^{0} based on e^{+}e^{-} annihilation samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII at five center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.628 to 4.698 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 3.7 fb^{-1}. An excess of events over the known contributions of the conventional charmed mesons is observed near the D_{s}^{-}D^{*0} and D_{s}^{*-}D^{0} mass thresholds in the K^{+} recoil-mass spectrum for events collected at sqrt[s]=4.681 GeV. The structure matches a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, whose pole mass and width are determined as (3982.5_{-2.6}^{+1.8}±2.1) MeV/c^{2} and (12.8_{-4.4}^{+5.3}±3.0) MeV, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the resonance hypothesis is estimated to be 5.3 σ over the contributions only from the conventional charmed mesons. This is the first candidate for a charged hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness, decaying into D_{s}^{-}D^{*0} and D_{s}^{*-}D^{0}. However, the properties of the excess need further exploration with more statistics.

Abstract
We present an analysis of the process ψ(3686)→Ω^{-}Ω[over ¯]^{+} (Ω^{-}→K^{-}Λ, Ω[over ¯]^{+}→K^{+}Λ[over ¯], Λ→pπ^{-}, Λ[over ¯]→p[over ¯]π^{+}) based on a dataset of 448×10^{6} ψ(3686) decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron-positron collider. The helicity amplitudes for the process ψ(3686)→Ω^{-}Ω[over ¯]^{+} and the decay parameters of the subsequent decay Ω^{-}→K^{-}Λ (Ω[over ¯]^{+}→K^{+}Λ[over ¯]) are measured for the first time by a fit to the angular distribution of the complete decay chain, and the spin of the Ω^{-} is determined to be 3/2 for the first time since its discovery more than 50 years ago.

Abstract
Black carbons (BCs) are ubiquitous in the natural environment and can significantly influence the environmental behavior of pollutants. This work examined the mediating effects of graphite, soot, and biochar on 1-naphthylamine (1-NA) oxidation under aerobic conditions. It was shown that the three BCs significantly promoted the oxidation of 1-NA in the dark, and the mediation efficiency of graphite was much greater than that of soot or biochar. The oxidation products were the coupling oligomers (dimers and trimers) and the oxygen-containing oligomers of 1-NA (di-OH-1-NA, OH-azo naphthalene, OH-trimers and amino-naphthoquinone derivatives etc.). The phenolic OH on BCs were identified as the active sites for 1-NA oxidation, which could stimulate O2 to produce reactive oxygen species through successive single electron transfer and then cause 1-NA oxidation. Moreover, the superior catalytic performance of graphite was also related to its high electrical conductivity. The synergies between the sp2-hybridized carbon surface and the active sites (such as phenolic OH and defects) facilitated the oxidation of 1-NA on graphite. Findings in this study not only are helpful for better understanding the reactivity of environmental BCs, but also provide new insights into the risk assessment of 1-NA in the natural environment.

Effective removal of Cu(II), Pb(II) and Cd(II) by sodium alginate intercalated MgAl-layered double hydroxide: adsorption properties and mechanistic studies. Abstract
To improve the adsorption efficiency of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) for heavy metals, a novel sodium alginate (SA) intercalated MgAl-LDH (SA-LDH) was synthesized in this work. SA-LDH was characterized by XRD, FTIR, XPS and employed as adsorbent for Cd(II), Pb(II), Cu(II) elimination. Adsorbent dosage, initial pH and contact time, which are regarded as several key parameters, were optimized. The results showed that SA-LDH exhibited better adsorption performance compared with the pristine MgAl-LDH. The maximum adsorption capacities of SA-LDH for Cu(II), Pb(II) and Cd(II) reached 0.945, 1.176 and 0.850 mmol/g, respectively. The possible mechanisms were analyzed by XPS, XRD and FTIR. The results showed that Cd(II), Pb(II) and Cu(II) may be removed by SA-LDH via (i) bonding or complexation with Sur-OH or Sur-O- of SA-LDH, (ii) precipitation of metal hydroxides or carbonates, (iii) isomorphic substitution, and (iv) chelation with -COO- in the interlayers. This work provides an effective method for the development of LDH-based adsorbent and the treatment of wastewater containing heavy metals.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Among 4238 cancer and 16,418 cancer-free individuals with incident major non-traumatic fractures (hip, clinical vertebral, forearm, humerus), post-fracture osteoporosis care was equally poor for both groups, whether assessed from bone mineral density (BMD) testing, initiation of osteoporosis therapy or either intervention (BMD testing and/or osteoporosis therapy). INTRODUCTION Most individuals sustaining a fracture do not undergo evaluation and/or treatment for osteoporosis. Cancer survivors are at increased risk for osteoporosis and fracture. Whether cancer survivors experience a similar post-fracture "care gap" is unclear. Using population-based databases, we assessed whether cancer patients are evaluated and/or treated for osteoporosis after a major fracture. METHODS From the Manitoba Cancer Registry, we identified cancer cases (first cancer diagnosis between 1987 and 2013) and cancer-free controls with incident major non-traumatic fractures (from provincial physician billing claims and hospitalization databases). The outcomes were performance of BMD testing (from the BMD Registry), initiation of osteoporosis therapy (from drug dispensation database) or either intervention (BMD testing and/or osteoporosis therapy) in the 12 months post-fracture. RESULTS There were 4238 cancer and 16,418 cancer-free individuals who sustained a fracture after the index date (cancer diagnosis) and were followed for at least 1 year post-fracture. Subsequent BMD testing was performed in 11.0% of cancer cases versus 11.5% non-cancer controls (P = 0.43), osteoporosis treatment in 22.9% cancer cases versus 21.8% non-cancer controls (P = 0.15), and either testing or treatment in 28.9% cancer cases versus 28.4% non-cancer controls (P = 0.53). Predictors of BMD testing and/or initiation of therapy were similar for non-cancer and cancer patients. Post-fracture interventions were consistently used more frequently among women, older patients (age 50 years or older), those who sustained fractures in a later calendar period, and (for treatment) after vertebral fracture. Cancer-specific variables (cancer type, years from cancer diagnosis to fracture, specialty of care provider) showed only weak and inconsistent effects. CONCLUSIONS A large care gap exists among cancer patients who sustain a fracture, similar to the general population, whereby the evaluation or treatment for osteoporosis is seldom conducted. Care maps may need to be developed for cancer populations to improve post-fracture care.

Abstract
In recent years, osteoporosis (OP) has become one of the main diseases affecting the health of middle-aged and elderly people in China, and the prevalence of OP has increased significantly. The clinical diagnosis and treatment guidelines for this disease are also constantly updated. The overall principles speciallyemphasise that doctors and patients need to work together to negotiate the details of the diagnosis and treatment guidelines, in order to improve the OP clinical diagnosis and treatment rate. Therefore, patients' knowledge of the disease, understanding of clinical guidelines, and cooperation with doctors to implement diagnosis and treatment plans are very important. In this study, from the most concerned issues of the patients, we established the OP patient practice guideline working group. 14 recommendations, as the OP patient practice guidelines, are proposed in accordance with the relevant principles of the "World Health Organization guidelines development manual" and the international normative process.

Abstract
Advanced oxidation technologies based on peroxymonosulfate (PMS) have attracted increasing attention because of their high reactivity and selectivity. Herein, we reported a novel CoFeLa-LDH catalyst, which exhibited excellent performance to activate PMS for tetracycline (TC) elimination. The influence of extra addition, simulation wastewater tests and the reusability experiments were investigated in detail. Remarkably, the quenching experiments and the results of EPR demonstrated the synergistic effect of radical and nonradical pathways in the TC degradation. Free radicals (SO4- and HO) played predominant roles in the first 1 min, and then both free and non-free radicals (1O2) interacted with TC. The possible TC degradation pathways were proposed on basis of the intermediates, which were analyzed by UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS. Finally, the reaction mechanisms of TC degradation in CoFeLa-LDH2/PMS system were proposed according to the comprehensive analysis.
