Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effect of adjustable oral appliance on airway changes and clinical effect in obstructive sleepApnea hypopnea syndrome, and to observe the effect of jaw joints.Method:Forty adult cases diagnosed as OSAHS by polysomnography(PSG), were treated with adjustable oral appliance. After six months, the sleep apnea hypoventilation index(AHI)and the lowest oxygen saturation (LSaO₂) by PSG were evaluated. And three-dimensional cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) reconstruction was used to analyze the morphological changes of the upper airway, and the gap of jaw joint preliminarily.Result:After such treatment, LSaO₂ level of all cases increased, and AHI reduced(P< 0.01).The total volume and area of the upper airway increased significantly(P< 0.01), There was no obvious anomalies found in jaw joints. Conclusion:The adjustable oral appliance applied to in adult OSAHS can increase the shape and size of the airway, improve the airway ventilation effectively, and have no affection to the jaw joints in initial observation.

Abstract
Trichinella spiralis is the main etiological agent of human trichinellosis. In China, trichinellosis remains a serious food-borne parasitic zoonosis and poses a serious threat to human health. However, the genetic structure of Chinese T. spiralis population is still little known. In this study, we used three molecular markers to analyze phylogeographic structure of the Chinese T. spiralis population. A total of 11 T. spiralis isolates were collected from 10 geographical locations in mainland China. The cytochrome c-oxidase gene (COI), large subunit ribosomal DNA (mt-lsrDNA) and 5S ribosomal DNA intergenic spacer region (5S ISR) genes of each isolate was amplified and sequenced. Only four haplotypes were found in these concatenated sequences. Both multimodal frequency distributions of mismatch analysis and the Bayesian skyline plot analysis rejected a possible population expansion of Chinese T. spiralis population. The phylogenetic inference based on neighbor-joining (NJ), maximum parsimony (MP), maximum likelihood (ML) and the Bayesian estimation of divergence times under the uncorrelated log-normal relaxed molecular-clock model suggested that the Chinese T. spiralis isolates started radiating in the late Miocene.

Abstract
Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) produces infectious bronchitis (IB) disease in poultry worldwide. In spite of proper vaccinations against the IBV, new IBV strains are continually emerging worldwide. In this study, a new highly virulent nephropathogenic IBV strain named CK/CH/XDC-2/2013 was identified from a vaccinated flock with clinical signs of IB in the Jiangsu province of China. The full-length genome sequence of the isolate was 27,714 nucleotides long, and the genome was organized similarly to classical IBV strains. Minimum divergence, phylogenetic analysis, and distance matrix of the genome showed that the CK/CH/XDC-2/2013 isolate had the highest similarity to the IBV BJ strain. The spike glycoprotein (S) gene had the greatest similarity to the nephropathogenic BJ strain and showed an 8 amino acid insertion (YSNGNSDV) at 73 to 80 sites and 3 amino acid deletion at sites 126 to 128 compared to the IBV vaccine strains. A recombination analysis of the S gene showed that the new isolate evolved from the IBV BJ strain and the KM91 vaccine strain. An animal challenge experiment showed a mortality of 60 to 80% in early-age chickens by different inoculation routes. Pathological examinations of the kidneys revealed inflammation, distention with uric acid deposits, and tubular degeneration. It indicated that the CK/CH/XDC-2/2013 isolate has robust kidney tissue tropism, and new nephropathogenic IBV strains are continuously evolving in China.

Abstract
We report evidence for a narrow structure, X(5568), in the decay sequence X(5568)→B_{s}^{0}π^{±}, B_{s}^{0}→J/ψϕ, J/ψ→μ^{+}μ^{-}, ϕ→K^{+}K^{-}. This is evidence for the first instance of a hadronic state with valence quarks of four different flavors. The mass and natural width of this state are measured to be m=5567.8±2.9(stat)_{-1.9}^{+0.9}(syst) MeV/c^{2} and Γ=21.9±6.4(stat)_{-2.5}^{+5.0}(syst) MeV/c^{2}. If the decay is X(5568)→B_{s}^{*}π^{±}→B_{s}^{0}γπ^{±} with an unseen γ, m(X(5568)) will be shifted up by m(B_{s}^{*})-m(B_{s}^{0})∼49 MeV/c^{2}. This measurement is based on 10.4 fb^{-1} of pp[over ¯] collision data at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

Abstract
To explore the possible mechanism of the third-generation retinoic acid drugs (isotretinoin, acitretin, adapalene) in inducing skin and mucosa dryness and rhagades; specifically, mechanism by which these drugs influence keratinocyte cell culture models in vitro (HaCaT) and aquaporin channel (AQP3) protein expression was investigated. Isotretinoin, acitretin, and adapalene were applied to human keratinocyte HaCaT cells. Immunohistochemistry, reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, and western blotting were used to detect their effects on AQP3 expression in HaCaT cells at different concentrations (0.000, 0.001, 0.010, 0.060, and 0.100 mg/mL) or different at times (0, 6, 12, 24, and 48 h). At 0.010 mg/mL, maximal AQP3 expression was observed in HaCaT cells; this was significantly higher than the expressions at the other concentrations (P < 0.05). After treatment with isotretinoin, acitretin, or adapalene at 0.010 mg/mL for 12 h, the expression of AQP3 was the highest in the isotretinoin group, followed by the acitretin group, with the lowest expression in the adapalene group. However, the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Retinoic acid can increase AQP3 expression in HaCaT cells, with significant effects observed with 0.010 mg/mL isotretinoin treatment for 12 h. The side effects, namely skin and mucosa dryness caused by retinoic acid might be related to its effects on AQP3 expression.

Abstract
We report evidence for the simultaneous production of J/ψ and ϒ mesons in 8.1 fb^{-1} of data collected at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab pp[over ¯] Tevatron Collider. Events with these characteristics are expected to be produced predominantly by gluon-gluon interactions. In this analysis, we extract the effective cross section characterizing the initial parton spatial distribution, σ_{eff}=2.2±0.7(stat)±0.9(syst) mb.

Abstract
We present a study of the inclusive production of the X(4140) state with the decay to the J/ψϕ final state in hadronic collisions. Based on 10.4 fb^{-1} of pp[over ¯] collision data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, we report the first evidence for the prompt production of an X(4140) state and find the fraction of X(4140) events originating from b hadrons to be f_{b}=0.39±0.07(stat)±0.10(syst). The ratio of the nonprompt X(4140) production rate to the B_{s}^{0} yield in the same channel is R=0.19±0.05(stat)±0.07(syst). The values of the mass M=4152.5±1.7(stat)_{-5.4}^{+6.2}(syst) MeV and width Γ=16.3±5.6(stat)±11.4(syst) MeV are consistent with previous measurements.

Abstract
We present the first search for CPT-violating effects in the mixing of Bs(0) mesons using the full Run II data set with an integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb(-1) of proton-antiproton collisions collected using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure the CPT-violating asymmetry in the decay Bs(0)→μ(±)Ds(±) as a function of celestial direction and sidereal phase. We find no evidence for CPT-violating effects and place limits on the direction and magnitude of flavor-dependent CPT- and Lorentz-invariance violating coupling coefficients. We find 95% confidence intervals of Δa⊥<1.2×10(-12) GeV and (-0.8<ΔaT-0.396ΔaZ<3.9)×10(-13) GeV.

Abstract
We present the final combination of CDF and D0 measurements of cross sections for single-top-quark production in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data correspond to total integrated luminosities of up to 9.7 fb^{-1} per experiment. The t-channel cross section is measured to be σ_{t}=2.25_{-0.31}^{+0.29} pb. We also present the combinations of the two-dimensional measurements of the s- vs t-channel cross section. In addition, we give the combination of the s+t channel cross section measurement resulting in σ_{s+t}=3.30_{-0.40}^{+0.52} pb, without assuming the standard model value for the ratio σ_{s}/σ_{t}. The resulting value of the magnitude of the top-to-bottom quark coupling is |V_{tb}|=1.02_{-0.05}^{+0.06}, corresponding to |V_{tb}|>0.92 at the 95% C.L.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Injection of xanthan gum (XG) has been demonstrated to reduce the symptoms and progression of osteoarthritis (OA) in experimental models. Due to its high viscosity and stability, it may restore the rheological homeostasis of osteoarthritic synovial fluid (SF), and avoid numerous intra-articular injections. OBJECTIVE The present study investigated the effect of XG on the rheological properties of SF, and determined its residence time in the rabbit joint cavity. METHODS Rabbit knees were subject to intra-articular injection with XG or XG labeled with green fluorescence, and the SF was collected at different time. Rheological properties of SF with XG injected were compared with those with sodium hyaluronate injected. Resistance to oxidant damage was tested by adding H2O2 to the viscosupplement. Fluorescence intensity was measured for the SF with XG labeled with green fluorescence. RESULTS Results showed that XG could significantly improve the SF viscosity at 24, 96, 168 h, and increase the storage moduli (G') and loss moduli (G″) tested at frequency of 0.5 and 2.5 Hz. SF with XG injection exhibited a gel-like behavior at 24 h, in that G' exceed G″ over the entire oscillation frequency range. XG preparation had a high resistance to oxidant damage. Half-life of XG in the joint cavity was 35.9 h, with clearance obeying first-order kinetics. CONCLUSIONS Intra-articular injection of XG could improve the rheological properties of SF, and this effect could last for several days.

Abstract
We present a measurement of the fundamental parameter of the standard model, the weak mixing angle sin^{2}θ_{eff}^{ℓ} which determines the relative strength of weak and electromagnetic interactions, in pp[over ¯]→Z/γ^{*}→e^{+}e^{-} events at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to 9.7 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The effective weak mixing angle is extracted from the forward-backward charge asymmetry as a function of the invariant mass around the Z boson pole. The measured value of sin^{2}θ_{eff}^{ℓ}=0.23147±0.00047 is the most precise measurement from light quark interactions to date, with a precision close to the best LEP and SLD results.

Abstract
The determination of nanoparticle (NP) stability and degradation in vivo is essential for the accurate evaluation of NP biodistribution in medical applications and for understanding their toxicological effects. Such determination is particularly challenging because NPs are extremely difficult to detect and quantify once distributed in a biological system. Radiolabelling with positron or gamma emitters and subsequent imaging studies using positron emission tomography (PET) or single-photon emission computerised tomography (SPECT) are some of the few valid alternatives. However, NPs that degrade or radionuclides that detach or are released from the NPs can cause artefact. Here, submicron-sized poly(lactide-co-glycolide) nanoparticles (PLGA-NPs) stabilised with bovine serum albumin (BSA) were dual radiolabelled using gamma emitters with different energy spectra incorporated into the core and coating. To label the core, 111In-doped iron oxide NPs were encapsulated inside PLGA-NPs during NP preparation, and the BSA coating was labelled by electrophilic substitution using 125I. After intravenous administration into rats, energy-discriminant SPECT resolved each radioisotope independently. Imaging revealed different fates for the core and coating, with a fraction of the two radionuclides co-localising in the liver and lungs for long periods of time after administration, suggesting that NPs are stable in these organs. Organ harvesting followed by gamma counting corroborated the SPECT results. The general methodology reported here represents an excellent alternative for visualising the degradation process of multi-labelled NPs in vivo and can be extended to a wide range of engineered NPs.

Abstract
Protease-activated receptors (PARs) are a unique family of G-protein coupled receptors. PAR4, a member of PARs family, was reported to be related to the development of cancers. Whether PAR4 plays a role in the progress of esophageal squamous cancer is unknown. In this study, differential expression of PAR4 in esophageal squamous cancer was measured by real-time PCR (n = 28), western blot and tissue microarrays (n = 78). The results showed that PAR4 expression was remarkably decreased in esophageal squamous cancer tissues compared with the matched noncancerous tissues, especially in low differentiation and positive distant metastasis carcinoma tissues. Furthermore, the methylation level of PAR4 promoter in esophageal cancer cells and normal epithelial cells was determined. Human esophageal cancer cells TE-1 displayed significant hypermethylation of 19 CpG sites, but pronounced hypomethylation of the sites in esophageal epithelial cells HEEpiC. The results suggested that down-regulation expression of PAR4 occurs frequently in esophageal squamous cancers, and the loss of PAR4 expression may partly result from hypermethylation of the PAR4 promoter. That PAR4 expression difference in tumor progression possibly makes PAR4 become a molecular mark of tumor diagnosis.
