Abstract
BACKGROUND Metanephric adenoma is an extremely rare renal neoplasm, especially in pediatrics. Chemotherapy combined with surgery in metanephric adenoma has not been reported. METHODS We describe a case of metanephric adenoma in a child less than 2 years old, which were treated by chemotherapy combined with surgery. RESULTS Nephron sparing surgery was performed after regular chemotherapy, and the pathological result was metanephric adenoma. CONCLUSION Pediatric metanephric adenoma is extremely rare; the clinical manifestations and imaging examinations lack specificity. Nephron sparing surgery is recommended as the preferred treatment for metanephric adenoma. Long-term follow-up and more in-depth molecular genetic research are still needed to determine the benign or malignant of metanephric adenoma and whether chemotherapy drugs have an effect on it.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to characterize gut microbial alterations in depressed patients with bipolar disorder (BD) following quetiapine monotherapy and explored its potential for disease diagnosis and outcome prediction. METHODS Fecal samples were obtained from 60 healthy individuals and 62 patients in acute depressive episodes. All patients received one-month quetiapine treatment after enrollment. The structure of gut microbiota was measured with metagenomic sequencing, and its correlation with clinical profiles and brain function as indicated by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging was analyzed. Random forest models based on bacterial species were constructed to distinguish patients from controls, and responders from non-responders, respectively. RESULTS BD patients displayed specific alterations in gut microbial diversity and composition. Quetiapine treatment increased the diversity of microbial communities and changed the composition. The abundance of Clostridium bartlettii was negatively associated with age, baseline depression severity, while positively associated with spontaneous neural oscillation in the hippocampus. Tree-based classification models for (1) patients and controls and (2) responders and non-responders showed an area under the curve of 0.733 and 0.800, respectively. CONCLUSION Our findings add new evidence to the existing literature regarding gut dysbiosis in BD and reveal the potential of microbe-based biomarkers for disease diagnosis and treatment outcome prediction.

Increased plasma levels of IL-6 are associated with striatal structural atrophy in major depressive disorder patients with anhedonia. Front Psychiatry 2022; 13:1016735. [PMID: 36405925 PMCID: PMC9669641 DOI: 10.3389/fpsyt.2022.1016735] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/11/2022] [Accepted: 10/20/2022] [Indexed: 11/06/2022] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND Anhedonia, as the core endophenotype of major depressive disorder (MDD), is closely related to poor prognosis, but the mechanism of this feature remains to be understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the inflammatory factors and brain structural alterations in MDD patients with anhedonia and evaluate the relationship between these factors. METHODS We assessed the plasma levels of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in MDD patients with anhedonia (n = 22), MDD patients without anhedonia (n = 20), and age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs, n = 20) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. All participants underwent high-resolution brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, and voxel-based morphometry (VBM) was used to evaluate their gray matter volume (GMV). We compared inflammatory factors and GMV among the three groups and explored their relationships in MDD patients with anhedonia. RESULTS Compared with those of HCs, plasma levels of IL-1β were increased in patients with MDD independent of anhedonia features, while plasma levels of IL-6 were elevated in MDD patients with anhedonia only. Meanwhile, MDD patients with anhedonia exhibited reduced GMV in the left striatal structures compared to MDD patients without anhedonia and HCs. Moreover, a significant association was observed between increased plasma levels of IL-6 and decreased GMV of the left putamen in MDD patients with anhedonia. CONCLUSIONS The present research outcomes suggest that anhedonia is associated with increased plasma levels of IL-6 and decreased GMV in the left striatal structures. In addition, this study demonstrates that GMV loss in the left putamen is related to increased plasma levels of IL-6 in MDD with anhedonia, which provides further insights into the possible mechanisms of anhedonia.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop a brief version of cognitive assessment test for evaluating the efficacy of treatments targeting cognitive impairments in Chinese schizophrenia patients, to examine its reliability, and establish normative data. Stratified according to age, gender, and educational level, healthy adult subjects were recruited from fifteen institutions in seven administrative regions of China and 723 valid samples were obtained, of which 50 were retested. Generalized Linear Models were conducted to analyze the effects of age, sex, and education. There was no significant difference between genders, while significant effects were demonstrated respectively among age and education on the normative data of C-BCT. The Cronbach α of C-BCT is 0.75, and the test-retest reliability (ICC) ranged from 0.62 to 0.76. Normative data of C-BCT were generated by gender, age and education, and the effects of these demographic factors were analyzed. It revealed good internal consistency and test-retest reliability of C-BCT.

Li S, Zhang R, Hu S, Lai J. Plasma Orexin-A Levels in Patients With Schizophrenia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Front Psychiatry 2022; 13:879414. [PMID: 35693955 PMCID: PMC9174516 DOI: 10.3389/fpsyt.2022.879414] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/19/2022] [Accepted: 04/29/2022] [Indexed: 11/13/2022] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND Orexins are polypeptides regulating appetite, sleep-wake cycle, and cognition functions, which are commonly disrupted in patients with schizophrenia. Patients with schizophrenia show a decreased connectivity between the prefrontal cortex and midline-anterior thalamus, and orexin can directly activate the axon terminal of cells within the prefrontal cortex and selectively depolarize neurons in the midline intralaminar nuclei of the thalamus. To address the relationship between orexin and schizophrenia, this study performed a meta-analysis on the alteration of plasma orexin-A levels in patients with schizophrenia. METHOD We searched eligible studies in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) from 1998 to September 3, 2021. A total of 8 case-control studies were included in the meta-analyses, providing data on 597 patients with schizophrenia and 370 healthy controls. The Stata version 16.0 software was used to calculate the Hedges's adjusted g with 95% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS The plasma orexin-A levels were not altered in subjects with schizophrenia (n = 597) when compared to healthy controls (n = 370). Subgroup analyses of gender (male and female vs. only male), country (China vs. other countries), medication (medication vs. non-medication), and the measurement of plasma orexin-A (Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay vs. radioimmunoassay) revealed heterogeneity ranging from 30.15 to 98.15%, but none showed a significant alteration of plasma orexin-A levels in patients with schizophrenia. Heterogeneity was lower in the other countries and radioimmunoassay subgroup, while other subgroups remained to be highly heterogeneous. No significant evidence of publication bias was found either in Begg's test or the Egger's test. CONCLUSION The present meta-analysis indicated that patients with schizophrenia did not show abnormal plasma levels of orexin-A. Search for Lepton-Flavor Violation in Z-Boson Decays with τ Leptons with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:271801. Abstract
A search for lepton-flavor-violating Z→eτ and Z→μτ decays with pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of Run 2 pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the τ lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. The addition of leptonically decaying τ leptons significantly improves the sensitivity reach for Z→ℓτ decays. The Z→ℓτ branching fractions are constrained in this analysis to B(Z→eτ)<7.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<7.2×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level. The combination with the previously published analyses sets the strongest constraints to date: B(Z→eτ)<5.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<6.5×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level.

Geriatr Nurs 2021; 43:175-181. [PMID: 34911018 DOI: 10.1016/j.gerinurse.2021.11.019] [Citation(s) in RCA: 2] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.7] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 10/20/2021] [Revised: 11/23/2021] [Accepted: 11/24/2021] [Indexed: 12/13/2022]
Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of frailty and social contact on cognitive decline among Chinese older patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and examine the mediating role of social contact between frailty and cognitive decline. A total of 205 eligible participants were recruited from a tertiary A hospital in Anhui province, China. A structural equation modeling was conducted to test the hypothetical mediating model. Frailty and cognitive decline were significantly and negatively correlated with social contact. Meanwhile, frailty exerted a significant positive effect on cognitive decline. The indirect effect of frailty on the cognitive decline through social contact was 0.401. Social contact could exert a partial mediating effect on the relationship between frailty and cognitive decline in this population. These findings could help guide effective interventions to improve the cognitive abilities of AD patients, thereby reducing the burden of this population on their caregivers.

Abstract
Purpose AQP5-/- mice spontaneously exhibit dry eye symptoms. The purpose of this study was to assess the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-mediated inflammation generated by a deficiency of aquaporin 5 (AQP5) in the lacrimal gland. Methods Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, Oil Red O staining, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis were performed to identify structural changes in lacrimal gland epithelial cells because of AQP5 deficiency. Corneal epithelial defects were assessed with sodium fluorescein staining. The expression profiles of mRNA and proteins were determined by quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot. Mice in the quercetin group were injected intraperitoneally with 40 mg/kg of quercetin, and the control group was injected with an equal volume of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) for 4 weeks. Results Aqueous tear secretion fell at about 50% in 1- and 6-month-old AQP5-/- mice compared with that of AQP5+/+ mice. TEM showed that the ER structure was damaged. ER stress was significantly increased in the lacrimal gland of AQP5-/- mice. Lipid droplets accumulated in the matrix and acinar cells, and changes occurred in the lipid metabolism and gene expression levels for PPARα, CPT1α, and CPT2 in the AQP5-/- mice. Immune cell infiltration and increases in the gene expression levels of the chemokines CXCL1, CXCL2, and CCL5 were found in the lacrimal gland of AQP5-/- mice. Quercetin partially reversed ER stress levels, inflammation, and lipid accumulation, and it inhibited tear secretion. Conclusions The study data indicated that a deficiency of AQP5 induced pathophysiological changes and functional decompensation of the lacrimal gland. Quercetin may improve the inflammation in the lacrimal glands of AQP5-/- mice by regulating the ER stress levels.

Abstract
BACKGROUND An immature intestine is a high-risk factor for necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), which is a serious intestinal disease in newborns. The regulation of developmentally regulated GTP-binding protein 1 (DRG1) during organ development suggests a potential role of DRG1 in the maturation process of the intestine. AIM To illustrate the function of DRG1 during the pathogenesis of NEC. METHODS DRG1 expression in the intestine was measured using immunohistochemistry and q-PCR. Immunoprecipitation coupled with mass spectrometry was used to identify the interacting proteins of DRG1. The biological functions of the potential interactors were annotated with the Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery. Caco2 and FHs74Int cells with stable DRG1 silencing or overexpression were used to investigate the influence of DRG1 on cell junctions and intestinal barrier permeability and to elucidate the downstream mechanism. RESULTS DRG1 was constitutively expressed during the intestinal maturation process but significantly decreased in the ileum in the context of NEC. Protein interaction analysis revealed that DRG1 was closely correlated with cell junctions. DRG1 deficiency destabilized the E-cadherin and occludin proteins near the cell membrane and increased the permeability of the epithelial cell monolayer, while DRG1 overexpression prevented lipopolysaccharide-induced disruption of E-cadherin and occludin expression and cell monolayer integrity. Further investigation suggested that DRG1 maintained cell junctions, especially adherens junctions, by regulating RAC1 activity, and RAC1 inhibition with NSC23766 attenuated intestinal injury and led to improved barrier integrity in experimental NEC. CONCLUSIONS Our findings illustrate the mechanism underlying the effect of DRG1 deficiency on epithelial cell permeability regulation and provide evidence supporting the application of RAC1 inhibitors for protection against NEC.

Abstract
A highly immunogenic nucleotide fragment (195bp) was selected from the Mhp183 gene of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae using information software technology and was named Mhp183195bp. Three Mhp183195bp were linked to form a new nucleotide sequence called Mhp183615bp. Mhp183615bp was directly synthesized and cloned into a pET100 vector and expressed in Escherichia coli. After purification, the proteins were successfully validated using SDS-PAGE and Western blot. BALB/c mice were injected with purified proteins on the first, eighth, and fifteenth days of feeding, respectively; serum samples were collected from mice on the day of immunization and on the 22nd day after immunization. The antibody level in mouse serum was detected by Western blotting using purified expressed proteins as antigens. IL-2, TNF-α and IFN-γ were simultaneously detected in mouse serum by ELISA. The 30 kDa protein was successfully expressed and reacted specifically with the specific serum Mhp His-Tag mouse monoclonal antibody and pig antibody. The expressed recombinant protein was immunogenic. The expression levels of IFN-γ, IL-2 and TNF-α were found to be significantly higher on day 22 than in the control group. This study suggests that the expressed recombinant protein could be used as one of the novel vaccine candidates for Mhp.

Abstract
Antipsychotic-induced metabolic dysfunction (AIMD) is an intractable clinical challenge worldwide. The situation is becoming more critical as second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs), to a great extent, have replaced the role of first-generation antipsychotics in managing major psychiatric disorders. Although the exact mechanisms for developing AIMD is intricate, emerging evidence has indicated the involvement of the microbiota-gut-brain axis in AIMD. SGAs treatment may change the diversity and compositions of intestinal flora (e.g., decreased abundance of Bacteroidetes and Akkermansia muciniphila, and increased Firmicutes). Short-chain fatty acids and other metabolites derived from gut microbiota, on the one hand, can regulate the activity of intestinal endocrine cells and their secretion of satiety hormones (e.g., glucagon-like peptide 1, peptide YY, cholecystokinin and ghrelin); on the other hand, can activate the vagus nerve or transport into the brain to exert a central modulation of foraging behaviors via binding to neuropeptide receptors. Interestingly, metformin, a classical antidiabetic agent, is capable of alleviating AIMD possibly by regulating the microbiota-gut-brain axis. That is, metformin can not only partially reverse the alterations of gut microbial communities due to SGAs treatment, but also play a positive role in rectifying the disturbances of peripheral and central satiety-related neuropeptides. Current evidence has indicated a promising role for metformin on ameliorating AMID, but further verifications in well-designed clinical trials are still warranted.

Eur Arch Paediatr Dent 2021; 23:667-693. Abstract
PURPOSE This umbrella review systematically appraised published systematic reviews on Minimal Intervention Dentistry interventions carried out to manage dentine carious primary teeth to determine how best to translate the available evidence into practice, and to provide recommendations for what requires further research. METHOD An experienced information specialist searched MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Epistemonikos, Joanna Briggs Institute Database of Systematic Reviews and Implementation Reports, and the NIHR Journals Library. In addition, the PROSPERO database was searched to identify forthcoming systematic reviews. Searches were built around the following four concepts: primary teeth AND caries/carious lesion AND Minimal Intervention Dentistry AND systematic review/meta-analysis. Searches were restricted to English language, systematic reviews with/without meta-analyses published between January 2000 and August 2020. Two reviewers independently screened all titles and abstracts. Interventions included involved no dentine carious tissue removal (fissure sealants, resin infiltration, topical application of 38% Silver Diamine Fluoride, and Hall Technique), non-restorative caries control, and selective removal of carious tissue involving both stepwise excavation and atraumatic restorative treatment. Systematic reviews were selected, data extracted, and risk of bias assessed using ROBIS by two independent reviewers. Studies overlap was calculated using corrected covered area. RESULTS Eighteen systematic reviews were included in total; 8 assessed the caries arresting effects of 38% Silver Demine Fluoride (SDF), 1 on the Hall Technique (HT), 1 on selective removal of carious tissue, and eight investigated interventions using atraumatic restorative treatment (ART). Included systematic reviews were published between 2006 and 2020, covering a defined time frame of included randomised controlled trials ranging from 1969 to 2018. Systematic reviews assessed the sealing efficacy of fissure sealants and resin infiltration in carious primary teeth were excluded due to pooled data reporting on caries arrest in both enamel and outer third of dentine with the majority of these carious lesions being limited to enamel. Therefore, fissure sealants and resin infiltration are not recommended for the management of dentinal caries lesions in primary teeth. Topical application of 38% SDF showed a significant caries arrest effect in primary teeth (p < 0.05), and its success rate in arresting dental caries increased when it was applied twice (range between 53 and 91%) rather than once a year (range between 31 and 79%). Data on HT were limited and revealed that preformed metal crowns placed using the HT were likely to reduce discomfort at time of treatment, the risk of major failure (pulp treatment or extraction needed) and pain compared to conventional restorations. Selective removal of carious tissue particularly in deep carious lesions has significantly reduced the risk of pulp exposure (77% and 69% risk reduction with one-step selective caries removal and stepwise excavation, respectively). ART showed higher success rate when placed in single surface compared to multi-surface cavities (86% and 48.7-88%, respectively, over 3 years follow-up). CONCLUSION Minimal Intervention Dentistry techniques, namely 38% SDF, HT, selective removal of carious tissue, and ART for single surface cavity, appear to be effective in arresting the progress of dentinal caries in primary teeth when compared to no treatment, or conventional restorations. There is clear need to increase the emphasis on considering these techniques for managing carious primary teeth as a mainstream option rather than a compromise option in circumstances where the conventional approach is not possible due to cooperation or cost.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in 2020 has become the world's largest public health event, causing global attention and concern. Despite national efforts to control this emerging infectious disease, it still cannot be contained. China, which reported the disease early, was able to control the outbreak quickly, but there is the problem of imported infections abroad. This review aims to summarize SARS-CoV-2 detected on the outer packaging of imported cold chain food and lead to the transmission of novel coronavirus. MATERIALS AND METHODS We reviewed information on SARS-COV-2 detected on the outer packaging of imported cold chain food and relevant literature. We searched the following databases: PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE and CNKI. search terms were "2019 nCoV", "SARS-CoV-2", "COVID-19", "cold-chain", "item surface", "spread", "people". RESULTS We found that SARS-CoV-2 survives on the surface of cold-chain food for a long period of time and these active viruses can be transmitted to humans. CONCLUSIONS We believe that while strictly preventing and controlling the importation of infected patients, we should strengthen the management of imported cold-chain food and its workers to prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 to humans on the surface of cold-chain food objects.

Abstract
This work evaluated the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions of 277 heavy-duty diesel vehicles (HDDVs) from three portable emission measurement system testing programs. HDDVs in these programs were properly maintained before emission testing, so the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) was not illuminated. NOx emissions of some HDDVs were significantly higher than the certification standard even during hot operations where exhaust temperature was ideal for selective catalytic reduction to reduce NOx. For engines certified to the 0.20 g/bhp-hr NOx standard, hot operation NOx emissions increased with engine age at 0.081 ± 0.016 g/bhp-hr per year. The correlation between emissions and mileage was weak because six trucks showed extraordinarily high apparent emission increase rates reaching several multiples of the standard within the first 15,000 miles of operation. The overall annual increase in NOx emissions for the HDDVs in this study was two-thirds of what was observed in real-world emissions for HDDVs at the Caldecott Tunnel over the past decade. The vehicles at the Caldecott Tunnel would include those without proper maintenance, and the inclusion of these vehicles possibly explains the difference in the rate of emission increase. The results suggest that HDDVs need robust strategies to better control in-use NOx emissions.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Calcified plaque is thought to adversely impact clinical outcomes but the impact of nodular calcification after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains unclear.
Purpose
This study sought to explore the impact of nodular calcification on the outcomes of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention for acute coronary syndromes.
Methods
Five-hundred culprit plaque with calcification were analysed from 495 ACS patients in whom PCI was performed. Plaques were divided into nodular calcification group (n=238) and non-nodular calcification group (n=262). Calcification is defined as an area with low back-scattering signal and a sharp border. Nodular calcification was defined as a protruding mass with an irregular surface, high backscattering, and signal attenuation on optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Results
Patients with nodular calcification were older (p<0.001) and had lower left ventricular ejection fraction (p=0.006) compared to patients with non-nodular calcification. Lesion length (31 (25.2, 38.5) vs. 29 (22.8, 34.1), p<0.001) was longer in plaques with nodular calcification. A higher prevalence of superficial calcium (p<0.001) was observed in plaques with nodular calcification compared with non-nodular calcification group. Minimum stent area (MSA) (5.0 (3.9, 6.3) vs. 5.4 (4.2, 6.7), p=0.011) and stent expansion (70 (62.7, 81.8) vs. 75 (65.2, 86.6), p=0.004) were significantly smaller in the nodular calcification group than in the non-nodular calcification group. Independent predictors of nodular calcification were age (p<0.001) lesion length (p=0.002) and calcium depth (p<0.001).
Conclusion
This study demonstrated that the presence of nodular calcification is associated with unfavourable outcomes with smaller minimum stent area and higher incidence of stent under expansion in patients with ACS treated with primary PCI.

Abstract
Abstract
Purpose
To assess the evolution of thin-cap fibroatheroma (TCFA) and to explore predictors for its progression by using optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Methods
We enrolled ACS patients with non-culprit TCFA at baseline and corresponding OCT images at follow-up of 9 to 15 months. Clinical, angiographic and OCT data were collected and analyzed according to established methods. TCFA was defined as a lipid plaque with maximum lipid arc >90° and fibrous cap thickness <65μm. Considering the resolution of OCT, the regression of TCFA was defined as an increase of fibrous cap thickness >10μm. Inversely, TCFA progression was defined as a decrease, constant or ≤10μm increase of fibrous cap thickness.
Results
41 patients with 55 non-culprit TCFAs were taken into final analysis. 17 patients (41.5%) had patient-level progression and 22 TCFAs (40.0%) progressed at plaque-level with a median follow-up duration of 371 days. 11 (20.0%) of the 55 TCFAs happened subclinical rupture at follow-up, including 10 with the formation a new layer and 1 without the detection of the new layer. Besides, another patient suffered re-myocardial infarction because of the rupture of TCFA induced acute thrombosis and lumen occlusion during follow-up. The baseline clinical and angiographic characteristics were similar between the two cohorts. The progression group had a significantly higher prevalence of macrophage infiltration and vasa vasorum at baseline than the non-progression group (Figure 1). Multivariate analysis identified macrophage infiltration (odds ratio [OR]: 5.30; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.01 to 27.91; p=0.049]) as the independent predictor of TCFA progression. When it came to the evolution of lesion morphology and lipid components, the progression cohort had a higher percent change of lumen stenosis and lipid length (Figure 2).
Conclusions
About 40% of non-culprit TCFAs in ACS patients progressed in fibrous cap thickness at a median interval of 1 year. Macrophage infiltration was the independent predictor of non-culprit TCFA progression. The progression of fibrous cap thickness was usually accompanied with an aggressive evolution of other lesion characteristics.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Autopsy series showed that one of most common plaque phenotypes underlying coronary thrombi was plaque erosion. Identification of erosion may permit a less invasive management. Chronic inflammation is a common process in atherosclerosis. The severity of plaque inflammation can be assessed by optical coherence tomography (OCT) defined macrophages density. The impact of macrophage infiltrates (MØI) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients caused by plaque erosion was still unknown.
Purpose
The aim of this study was to evaluate plaque morphology and clinical prognosis associated with MØI as assessed by optical coherence tomography in STEMI patients caused by plaque erosion.
Methods
From October 2014 to December 2017, 1561 STEMI with OCT imaging before percutaneous coronary intervention were enrolled in this study. Finally, 312 STEMI patients caused by plaque erosion were split into two group according to the presence of MØI in culprit eroded plaques.
Results
163 (52.2%) STEMI patients presented plaque erosion with MØI, whereas 149 (47.8%) patients had no evidence of MØI. MØI were more frequency appeared in older patients (p=0.015). The severity and vulnerability of culprit lesions were higher in patients with MØI characterized by more aggressive and vulnerable features. Patients with MØI had worse long-term prognosis, compared with patient without MØI, mainly driven by a higher rate of target lesion revascularization (p=0.046), especially in STEMI patients presented plaque erosion with intensive antiplatelet therapy (p=0.035).
Conclusions
In the present study, we demonstrated that macrophage infiltrates at the site of erode plaques were associated with severity and vulnerability of culprit lesions. The long-term prognosis in patients with MØI were poorer especially in patients without stent implantation.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
To date, sparse data are available with regard to gender differences in coronary plaque morphology and composition as underlying mechanism of MINOCA.
Purpose
To assess the differences in coronary plaque morphology in culprit lesion between women and men with MINOCA using intravascular optical coherence tomography.
Methods
Totally, 7404 consecutives acute myocardial infarction patients who underwent emergency coronary angiography between 2016 and 2019 were screened. MINOCA were identified in 292 patients (mean age: 72.6% male, 54.1% with ST-segment elevation). Optical coherence tomography was performed in 190 patients (men, n=142).
Results
Women with MINOCA were older (62.5±10.6 vs. 54.0±11.5, P<0.001) and more over 55 years (75.3% vs. 43.6%, P<0.001). Although women with MINOCA more frequently presented with NSTEMI (56.8% vs. 41.7%, P=0.025) and prior coronary artery disease (CAD) (33.3% vs. 6.3%, P<0.001), they were less likely smoker (27.2% vs. 58.8%, P<0.001). There was no significant difference in incidence of plaque rupture, erosion and calcified nodule between men and women. However, women were more likely to have thin-cap fibroatheroma (TCFA) (39.6% vs. 22.5%, P=0.025).
Conclusion
Women with MINOCA were older, more frequently presented with NSTEMI and less smoking compared to men. Besides, more TCFA were observed in women.

Abstract
Over the past decade, efforts to reduce emissions of particulate matter (PM) and oxides of nitrogen (NO + NO2, or NOx) from heavy-duty diesel vehicles (HDDVs) have led to the widespread adoption of both Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) to control PM and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to control NOx. We evaluated the performance of DPFs and SCR with 13,327 real-world fuel-based Black Carbon (BC) and NOx emission factors from 9,167 unique heavy-duty vehicles (primarily HDDVs) measured at four sites in California (two ports, two highways) from 2011 to 2018. BC emission factors have decreased by 90% during the past decade. At the same time, BC distributions have become increasingly skewed toward "high-emitters" - e.g., the portion of the HDDV fleet responsible for half of all BC emissions has decreased from ~16% to ~3%. NOx emission factors have also decreased over the past decade, but by only 31%. They remain roughly five times greater than in-use thresholds. We examined changes in BC and NOx emissions with engine age. BC emissions from DPF-only trucks decreased slightly but insignificantly, by 6 ± 15 mg/kg fuel per year, while for DPF+SCR trucks they increased by 5 ± 3. These changes are less than 5% of in-use thresholds. The annual increase in NOx emissions with age was much greater: 1.44 ± 0.28 g/kg for older SCR trucks without on-board diagnostic (OBD) capabilities and 0.48 ± 0.35 for newer trucks with OBD, roughly 20- 50% of in-use thresholds. Paired t-tests on the over 600 vehicles that were observed in multiple campaigns were consistent with these results. Observed changes in BC emissions with age were best fit with a "gross emitter" model assuming an annual DPF failure rate of 0.83 ± 0.01% for DPF-only trucks and 0.56 ± 0.01% for DPF+SCR trucks.Implications: These observations of real-world HDV emission factors have several major implications for regulatory efforts to reduce them. The increasing importance of a relatively small number of high BC emitters suggests that widespread sampling of the on-road fleet will be necessary to identify these vehicles. On the other hand, the much more ubiquitous deterioration in NOx control measures may be better addressed by incorporating on-board diagnostic systems, with telematic data transfer when possible, into inspection and maintenance programs. These NOx observations also highlight the need for strengthening heavy-duty SCR durability demonstration requirements.

Search for New Phenomena in Final States with Two Leptons and One or No b-Tagged Jets at sqrt[s]=13 TeV Using the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:141801. Abstract
A search for new phenomena is presented in final states with two leptons and one or no b-tagged jets. The event selection requires the two leptons to have opposite charge, the same flavor (electrons or muons), and a large invariant mass. The analysis is based on the full run-2 proton-proton collision dataset recorded at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb^{-1}. No significant deviation from the expected background is observed in the data. Inspired by the B-meson decay anomalies, a four-fermion contact interaction between two quarks (b, s) and two leptons (ee or μμ) is used as a benchmark signal model, which is characterized by the energy scale and coupling, Λ and g_{*}, respectively. Contact interactions with Λ/g_{*} lower than 2.0 (2.4) TeV are excluded for electrons (muons) at the 95% confidence level, still far below the value that is favored by the B-meson decay anomalies. Model-independent limits are set as a function of the minimum dilepton invariant mass, which allow the results to be reinterpreted in various signal scenarios.

Abstract
Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technology is critical to reduce the impact of the internal combustion engines on air pollution and greenhouse gases. HEVs have an advantage in market penetration due to their lower cost and higher driving range compared to battery electric vehicles (BEVs). On the other hand, HEVs use an internal combustion engine and still emit air pollutants. It is hypothesized that HEV performance is impacted by the weather conditions as a result of many factors. It was beyond the scope of this work to systematically evaluate all factors so instead we measured emissions from two vehicles driving city and highway routes in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the winter (-5 °C) and looked for major differences in emissions relative to each vehicle and relative to results that would be obtained from a chassis dynamometer in a controlled laboratory setting at a higher temperature approximately 20 °C). The study then looked to associate differences in emissions with the prevailing conditions to gain new insights. Emissions of interest included the total particle number (TPN), solid particle number (SPN), particulate matter mass (PM), and NOx. One key difference in vehicle engine technology was PFI (port fuel injection) versus GDI (gasoline direct injection). We found the frequency at which the Prius hybrid engine reignited was much higher than the Sonata for city and highway driving, although for both vehicles the catalyst temperature remained high and appeared to be unaffected by the reignitions, despite the cold weather. For most conditions, the Prius emitted more NOx but fewer particles than the Sonata. In some cases, NOx and particle emissions exceeded the most comparable laboratory-based emissions standards.

Abnormal causal connectivity of left superior temporal gyrus in drug-naïve first- episode adolescent-onset schizophrenia: A resting-state fMRI study. Psychiatry Res Neuroimaging 2021; 315:111330. Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the alterations of causal connectivity between the brain regions in Adolescent-onset schizophrenia (AOS) patients. Thirty-two first-episode drug-naïve AOS patients and 27 healthy controls (HC) were recruited for resting-state functional MRI scanning. The brain region with the between-group difference in regional homogeneity (ReHo) values was chosen as a seed to perform the Granger causality analysis (GCA) and further detect the alterations of causal connectivity in AOS. AOS patients exhibited increased ReHo values in left superior temporal gyrus (STG) compared with HCs. Significantly decreased values of outgoing Granger causality from left STG to right superior frontal gyrus and right angular gyrus were observed in GC mapping for AOS. Significantly stronger causal outflow from left STG to right insula and stronger causal inflow from right middle occipital gyrus (MOG) to left STG were also observed in AOS patients. Based on assessments of the two strengthened causal connectivity of the left STG with insula and MOG, a discriminant model could identify all patients from controls with 94.9% accuracy. This study indicated that alterations of directional connections in left STG may play an important role in the pathogenesis of AOS and serve as potential biomarkers for the disease.
