Abstract
A case of nephrotic syndrome due to minimal lesion glomerulonephritis associated with Hodgkins disease is described. The course of the nephrotic syndrome was relapsing, preceeding the development of lymphoma by eighteen months. Treatment of this nephrotic syndrome with repeated courses of Prednisone and Cyclophosphamide resulted only in partial improvement of his proteinuria. However, complete absence of proteinuria only occurred with successful therapy of Hodgkins disease.

Abstract
Tuberculosis is one of the more serious infections complicating renal transplantation. Although the incidence appears to be low, a dose of prednisone greater than 10 mg daily has been associated with a more severe form of disease. A case of tuberculosis with renal allograft involvement is described with documented bacteriological and radiological involvement in which treatment was successful with anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy. Deterioration in renal function did not occur. The prophylaxis of patients undergoing transplantation with a history of tuberculosis and the features, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis affecting a renal allograft are discussed.

Abstract
An analysis was made of 41 cases of disseminated intravascular coagulation in dogs, with the objective of evaluating routine and nonroutine laboratory tests used in making the diagnosis. The dogs were grouped on the basis of underlying disease, which included neoplasia (39%), pancreatitis (30%), chronic active hepatitis (15%), heat stroke (12%), and sepsis (4%). Of the diagnostic tests evaluated, those for determination of activated partial thromboplastin time, antithrombin III activity, prothrombin time, and the platelet count were the most valuable. Of the clotting factors, factor V activity was decreased more frequently than the activity of factor VIII:C (factor VIII: procoagulant). The factor VIII:C activity was in conflict with prevailing dogma that reflects depression of this factor in disseminated intravascular coagulation. Factor VIII:C activity was decreased in only 29% of dogs studied. Activation of the fibrinolytic system was manifested by decreased plasminogen activity in 49% of the dogs studied. Sixty-one percent of the dogs had increased amounts of fibrin (ogen) degradation products.

Abstract
Acute necrotizing (hemorrhagic) pancreatitis was induced in 12 dogs by infusing oleic acid into their pancreatic ducts. There were decreases in blood pH, complement, antithrombin III, blood platelets, 24- and 48-hour plasminogen, and 24-hour haptoglobin and modest decreases in serum albumin. There were increases in fibrinogen, 48- to 120-hour haptoglobin, and 96-hour and 120-hour plasminogen and prolongations of prothrombin and activated partial thromboplastin times. The latter 2 changes together with decreases in antithrombin III, platelet numbers, and complement were indicative of consumption coagulopathy. A clinically innocuous but statistically significant decrease in serum total and ionized calcium despite significant acidosis was noted. This indicates that serum total and ionized calcium is helpful in making the diagnosis of acute necrotizing pancreatitis. Methemalbuminemia of 6 mg/dl at 24 hours and 7 mg/dl at 48 hours indicates that methemalbuminemia is a valuable diagnostic and prognostic finding in association with acute necrotizing pancreatitis.

Abstract
Conventional laboratory methods were used to screen untreated tumor-bearing dogs for hemostatic abnormalities. Excluded from study were dogs with clinical evidence of bleeding. The primary site for neoplastic disease in 100 dogs studied included hemolymphatic system, skin, bone, thyroid gland, oropharynx, mammary gland, and nasal cavity. Eighty-three percent of the dogs had one or more abnormal coagulation tests. Thrombocytopenia occurred in 36 dogs and 3 had thrombocytosis. Twenty-five dogs had hypofibrinogenemia, and 25 had hyperfibrinogenemia. There were 32 dogs with prolongation of the activated partial thromboplastin time, 10 dogs with shortened prothrombin time, and 6 dogs with prolongation of the thrombin time. Sixteen dogs had positive protamine sulfate (paracoagulation) reaction, and 8% had increased plasma fibrin degradation products. The euglobulin lysis time was accelerated in 24% of the dogs, and 15% had schistocytes on blood film. These data indicate that the majority of dogs with advanced neoplasms are likely to have abnormal coagulation tests.

Abstract
The present research reports correlations between ratings of distractibility and minor physical anomalies and gross motor incoordination. For an original and two replication samples of preschool children, there were significant average weighted correlations between distractibility and both minor physical anomalies and gross motor incoordination for boys. Also, the magnitude of the correlation between distractibility and the congenital characteristics was significantly higher for boys. Although neither parental rejection nor parental restrictiveness was related to boys' distractibility, parental rejection was marginally related to girls' distractibility.

Abstract
Cell populations and thalamic projections of the dorsal column nuclei in macaques have been investigated in the medullae of normal animals and of animals with injections of horseradish peroxidase in the nucleus ventralis posterolateralis. In the same species, the course, distribution and origin of ascending non-primary pathways to the dorsal column nuclei have been demonstrated with the aid of degeneration methods, 3H-amino acid autoradiography and retrograde axonal transport of horseradish peroxidase. Non-primary afferents to the gracile and cuneate nuclei ascend mainly in the dorsal columns and, to a lesser extent, in the dorsal part of the lateral funiculus. Afferents originating from lumbar segments and ascending in the lateral funiculus terminate mainly in the rostral part of the gracile nucleus while those ascending in the dorsal columns distribute throughout most of the rostrocaudal extent of the same nucleus. Afferents from brachial levels terminate mainly in the cuneate nucleus and in the external cuneate nucleus. Degeneration and autoradiographic material concurrently demonstrate that non-primary afferents to the cuneate nucleus terminate preferentially within certain cytoarchitectonic subdivisions of this nucleus. Ascending spinal afferents to the dorsal column nuclei originate mainly from the ipsilateral dorsal horn, particularly from its medial part at upper cervical levels and from a band of gray, throughout the cord, largely corresponding to lamina IV and adjacent laminae. Large neurons along the lateral border of the ventral horn at lumbar levels may also contribute non-primary afferents to the ipsilateral dorsal column nuclei. These anatomical results provide some cues to a revised view of the organization of the dorsal column nuclei in monkeys and, taken together with recent electrophysiological and clinical data, contribute to a re-evaluation of some functional aspects of the dorsal column-medial lemniscal system of primates.

Abstract
It was predicted from the theories of Bardwick that 1) made self-esteem would be greater than female self-esteem only among the older children of the preadolescent sample, 2) reading achievement would correlate with self-esteem for boys in all age groups but only for the younger girls, and 3) individual self-esteem items that showed sex differences would be sex-role related. Data on self-esteem and reading score were collected on 307 urban children in second through sixth grades. Analysis of results confirmed predictions 1 and 3, but not prediction 2. Reading score did not show a significant correlation with self-esteem for girls at any age level tested. Results were discussed in terms of differing sources of male and female self-esteem.
