Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(26)H(25)FN(4)O, consists of two symmetry-independent mol-ecules, denoted A and B. The conformation of each mol-ecule is mainly determined by an intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bond, which closes a six-membered ring. The dihedral angles between the pyrimidine ring and the phenyl, fluorophenyl and ethoxyphenyl rings are 15.4 (2), 28.4 (2) and 77.5 (2)°, respectively, in mol-ecule A, and 15.9 (2), 2.7 (2) and 61.8 (2)° in mol-ecule B. Inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions between pyrimidine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.692 (4) Å] connect mol-ecules A and B into dimers and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the dimers into zigzag chains along [011]. The (4-eth-oxy-anilino)methyl group of the B mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites, the occupancy factor for the major component being 0.900 (2).

Abstract
Three butyltin complexes with 2-sulfobenzoic acid [Sn(C(4)H(9))(2){O(3)SC(6)H(4)COO-2}(H(2)O)]·(C(2)H(5)OH) (1), [Sn(C(4)H(9))(3){O(3)SC(6)H(4)COOH-2}] (2) and [Sn(2)(C(4)H(9))(6){μ-O(3)SC(6)H(4)COO-2}] (3) have been synthesized and characterized by IR and (1)H, (13)C and (119)Sn NMR spectra. They show interesting properties in solid state and solutions because there are many modes of coordination of the Sbz ligand. The structure of complex 1 has been determined by X-ray crystallography. It is a chain compound with 2-sulfonatobenzoate coordinated to Sn atoms as a bridging and chelate ligand via O atoms of COO and SO(3) groups. In solutions the chains dissociate giving mainly mononuclear complexes. The NMR spectra and calculation at the DFT B3LYP/3-21G** level indicate that in solutions of compounds 1, 2 and 3 in polar solvents, many complexes showing dynamic properties are formed. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations showed that many five- and six-coordinate isomers and conformers can exist in equilibrium. All compounds effectively interact with AMP and ATP. The NMR spectra showed that nucleotides are coordinated to Sn atoms via PO(4) groups. The complexes are very active cytostatic agents against tumor strains. They are more effective than cisplatin. It is interesting that activity of 3 against non-tumor cell NHDF is lower than against tumor cells. Antibacterial activity of 1 and 2 has been investigated. Compound 2 is a very effective agent against Gram-positive bacteria. Antibacterial activity of 1 is lower than that of 2. Activity of 1 both against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria is similar.

Abstract
Three potassium edta (edta is ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, H(4)Y) salts which have different degrees of ionization of the edta anion, namely dipotassium 2-({2-[bis(carboxylatomethyl)azaniumyl]ethyl}(carboxylatomethyl)azaniumyl)acetate dihydrate, 2K(+)·C(10)H(14)N(2)O(8)(2-)·2H(2)O, (I), tripotassium 2,2'-({2-[bis(carboxylatomethyl)amino]ethyl}ammonio)diacetate dihydrate, 3K(+)·C(10)H(13)N(2)O(8)(3-)·2H(2)O, (II), and tetrapotassium 2,2',2'',2'''-(ethane-1,2-diyldinitrilo)tetraacetate 3.92-hydrate, 4K(+)·C(10)H(12)N(2)O(8)(4-)·3.92H(2)O, (III), were obtained in crystalline form from water solutions after mixing edta with potassium hydroxide in different molar ratios. In (II), a new mode of coordination of the edta anion to the metal is observed. The HY(3-) anion contains one deprotonated N atom coordinated to K(+) and the second N atom is involved in intramolecular bifurcated N-H···O and N-H···N hydrogen bonds. The overall conformation of the HY(3-) anions is very similar to that of the Y(4-) anions in (III), although a slightly different spatial arrangement of the -CH(2)COO(-) groups in relation to (III) is observed, whereas the H(2)Y(2-) anions in (I) adopt a distinctly different geometry. The preferred synclinal conformation of the -NCH(2)CH(2)N- moiety was found for all edta anions. In all three crystals, the anions and water molecules are arranged in three-dimensional networks linked via O-H···O and C-H···O [and N-H···O in (I) and (II)] hydrogen bonds. K···O interactions also contribute to the three-dimensional polymeric architecture of the salts.

Abstract
The paper presents the synthesis of 1,2,3,7-tetraaryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimido[4,5-d]pyrimidines. The structures of the obtained compounds were confirmed by crystallographic and spectroscopic analyses, and their antibacterial activity was tested on 9 selected strains, comparing chemical structure changes with increased microbiological activity. It was confirmed that aromatic residues in the hydrogenated pyrimidine ring constitute a significant element influencing antibacterial activity. Electronegative radicals increase microbiological activity, but decrease solubility of the compounds. Therefore, substituents should be selected in a manner ensuring a balanced effect. The presented crystal structure of 6f includes two stereoisomers, which we decided to isolate and compare the microbiological properties in further studies.

Abstract
Dehydrobutyrine is the most naturally occurring dehydroamino acid. It is also the simplest dehydroamino acid having the geometrical isomers E/Z. To investigate its conformational properties, a theoretical analysis was performed on N-acetyl-alpha,beta-dehydrobutyrine N'-methylamides, Ac-(E)-DeltaAbu-NHMe and Ac-(Z)-DeltaAbu-NHMe, as well as the dehydrovaline derivative Ac-DeltaVal-NHMe. The phi, psi potential energy surfaces and the localised conformers were calculated at the B3LYP/6-311 + + G(d,p) level of theory both in vacuo and with inclusion of the solvent (chloroform, water) effect (SCRF method). The X-ray crystal structures of Ac-(Z)-DeltaAbu-NHMe and Ac-DeltaVal-NHMe were determined at 85 and 100 K, respectively. The solid-state conformational preferences for the studied residues have been analysed and compared with the other related structures. Despite the limitations imposed by the C(alpha) = C(beta) double bond on the topography of the side chains, the main chains of the studied dehydroamino acids are more flexible than in standard alanine. The studied dehydroamino acids differ in their conformational preferences, which depend on the polarity of the environment. This might be a reason why the nature quite precisely differentiates between DeltaVal and each of the DeltaAbu isomers, and why, particularly so with the latter, they are used as a conformational tool to influence the biological action of usually small, cyclic dehydropeptides.

Abstract
Comparison of the crystal structures of two pentadehydropeptides containing DeltaPhe residues, namely (Z,Z)-N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)glycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycine (or Boc(0)-Gly(1)-Delta(Z)Phe(2)-Gly(3)-Delta(Z)Phe(4)-Gly(5)-OH) methanol solvate, C(29)H(33)N(5)O(8) x CH(4)O, (I), and (E,E)-N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)glycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycyl-alpha,beta-phenylalanylglycine (or Boc(0)-Gly(1)-Delta(E)Phe(2)-Gly(3)-Delta(E)Phe(4)-Gly(5)-OH), C(29)H(33)N(5)O(8), (II), indicates that the Delta(Z)Phe residue is a more effective inducer of folded structures than the Delta(E)Phe residue. The values of the torsion angles phi and psi show the presence of two type-III' beta-turns at the Delta(Z)Phe residues and one type-II beta-turn at the Delta(E)Phe residue. All amino acids are linked trans to each other in both peptides. Beta-turns present in the peptides are stabilized by intramolecular 4-->1 hydrogen bonds. Molecules in both structures form two-dimensional hydrogen-bond networks parallel to the (100) plane.

Abstract
It was shown that dihydroxyacetone phosphate may exist in both monomeric DHAP (C(3)H(7)O(6)P) and dimeric DHAP-dimer (C(6)H(14)O(12)P(2)) form. Monomeric DHAP was obtained in the form of four crystalline salts: CaCl(DHAP) x 2.9H(2)O (7a), Ca(2)Cl(3)(DHAP) x 5H(2)O (7b), CaCl(DHAP) x 2H(2)O (7c), and CaBr(DHAP) x 5H(2)O (7d) by crystallization from aqueous solutions containing DHAP acid and CaCl(2) or CaBr(2), or by direct crystallization from a solution containing DHAP precursor and CaCl(2). At least one of the salts is stable and may be stored in the crystalline state at room temperature for several months. The dimeric form was obtained by slow saturation of free DHAP syrup with ammonia at -18 degrees C and isolated in the form of its hydrated diammonium salt (NH(4))(2)(DHAP-dimer) x 4H(2)O (8). The synthesis of the compounds, their crystallization, and crystal structures determined by X-ray crystallography are described. In all 7a-d monomeric DHAP exists in the monoanionic form in an extended (in-plane) cisoid conformation, with both hydroxyl and ester oxygen atoms being synperiplanar to the carbonyl O atom. The crucial structural feature is the coordination manner, in which the terminal phosphate oxygen atoms act as chelating as well as bridging atoms for the calcium cations. Additionally, the DHAP monoanions chelate another Ca(2+) by the alpha-hydroxycarbonyl moiety, in a manner observed previously in dihydroxyacetone (DHA) calcium chloride complexes. In dimeric 8 the anion is a trans isomer with the dioxane ring in a chair conformation with the hydroxyl groups in axial positions and the phosphomethyl group in an equatorial position.

Abstract
Abstract
All crystals of the title compounds, with general formula M2+(C2H4O5P–)2(H2O)2, (MAP), are isomorphous and crystallize in the space group P1̅ with Z = 2. The two crystallographically independent M2+ cations are situated on a center of symmetry and are octahedrally coordinated by two phosphonate monoanions and two water molecules. In the case of Cu2+ cation, Jahn-Teller effect causes strong extension of two Cu—O bonds. The mono anions coordinate the metal ions by one carboxylic and one phosphonate oxygen atom, which is facilitated by their specific overall conformation. In each monoanion, one of the phosphonate O atoms is nearly antiperiplanar ap to the carboxylic C atom, and the remaining phosphonate O atoms are nearly gauche (+sc and –sc) with respect to the mentioned C atom. The carboxylic O atoms are in positions close to +sc and –ac in relation to the phosphonate P atom. The complex molecules form well separated layers in all MAP compounds. The phosphonate and carboxylic groups act as donors in medium strong and weak intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonding and, as acceptors, in C—H...O hydrogen interactions in all structures. Additionally both crystallographically independent water molecules are donors of weak hydrogen bonding to phosphonate oxygen atoms from adjacent complex molecules.
