Abstract
Abstract
Purpose
Patients with left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC) are associated with increased risk of thromboembolism including system embolism (SE) and stroke. Moreover, left atrial (LA) diameter was proved to be a strong predictor for stroke and SE [1]. This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of left atrial diameter on the risk of thromboembolism in patients with LVNC.
Methods
This retrospective longitudinal study enrolled 302 patients (median age 46 years, 65.9% male) diagnosed as LVNC through echocardiography or cardiac nuclear magnetic according to Jenni criteria [2] and Petersen criteria [3], respectively. The primary endpoint was thromboembolism events including SE and stroke.
Results
The 302 patients with LVNC were divided into 2 groups: large LA group (LA diameter ≥43mm, n=155) and small LA group (LA diameter<43mm, n=147), according to the median of LA diameter. After a median follow-up of 4.3 years, 19 cases (6.3%) patients occurred thromboembolism events. In the large LA group, 16 patients (10.3%) occurred thromboembolism events while there were 3 cases (2.0%) suffering from SE/stroke in the small LA group (p<0.05). The Kaplan-Meier curves (Figure 1) compared by the log-rank test showed that the large LA group was associated with a higher risk of thromboembolism events and the difference between the 2 groups was significant (p<0.05). Crude Cox regression model results revealed that LA diameter was an independent risk factor for thromboembolism events in patients with LVNC (Crude HR 1.07, 95% CI 1.02–1.12, p=0.004). After adjusting for prior heart failure, NYHA class, atrial fibrillation, prior stroke, coronary artery disease, pulmonary arterial hypertension, family history of cardiomyopathy, LA diameter was still associated with increased thrombotic risk (Adjusted HR 4.98, 95% CI 1.07–23.04, p=0.04). Moreover, the ROC curves (Figure 2) showed that the AUC of LA diameter was 0.692 and even better than the CHA2DS2-VASc score (AUC=0.576).
Conclusion
The current study indicated that LA diameter is an effective predictor of thrombotic risk in patients with LVNC. Moreover, extra attention is needed in LVNC patients with larger LA diameters for the risk of thromboembolism.

Abstract
Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the relationship between atrial fibrillation (AF) and the prognosis of patients with left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC).
Methods
This retrospective study enrolled 302 patients (median age 46 years, 65.9% male) diagnosed as LVNC through echocardiography or cardiac nuclear magnetic according to Jenni criteria1 and Petersen criteria2, respectively. The primary endpoint is major cardiovascular adverse events (MACEs) which is a composite endpoint including heart transplantation, deaths in-hospital, stroke, system embolism, malignant ventricular arrhythmia, and rehospitalization for cardiovascular reasons. The second endpoints are thromboembolism events including system embolism and stroke.
Results
The patients with LVNC were divided into 2 groups: with AF group (n=56) and without AF group (n=246). In the group of patients combined with AF and LVNC, the proportion of CHA2DS2-VASc score≥2 was 66.07%. The rate of receiving oral anticoagulant therapy in LVNC patients with AF was significantly higher than without the AF group (69.64% vs. 19.51%, p<0.01). After a median follow-up of 4.3 years, a total of 69 MACEs (22.85%) and 19 thromboembolism events (6.3%) occurred. Among them, 49 MACEs in the non-AF group (19.92%) while 20 cases (35.71%) occurred MACEs in the AF group (p=0.01). Moreover, the rate of thromboembolism in the AF group was notably higher compared with the non-AF group (16.1% vs. 4.1%, p=0.01). The Kaplan-Meier curves (Figure 1) compared by the log-rank test showed that the AF group was associated with a higher risk of thromboembolism events than the non-AF group and the difference between the 2 groups was significant (p<0.05). Crude Logistic regression model results revealed that AF was associated with increased risk of MACEs in patients with LVNC [Crude odds ratio (OR) 2.23, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.19–4.19, p=0.01]. Adjusted Logistic regression model indicated that AF was still an independent risk factor (adjusted OR 2.43, 95% CI 1.08–5.45, p=0.03) for MACEs after adjusting for other risk factors including age, heart rate, syncope, heart failure, NYHA class, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation history, hypertension, prior stroke, prior system embolism, family history of cardiomyopathy, levels of NT-pro-BNP, left atrial diameter, left ventricular ejection fraction, oral anticoagulant therapy and antiplatelet therapy.
Conclusion
This current study indicated that AF is associated with a worse prognosis in patients with LVNC. Extra attention is needed in clinical practice for LVNC patients with AF.

Abstract
The Majorana Demonstrator neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment comprises a 44 kg (30 kg enriched in ^{76}Ge) array of p-type, point-contact germanium detectors. With its unprecedented energy resolution and ultralow backgrounds, Majorana also searches for rare event signatures from beyond standard model physics in the low energy region below 100 keV. In this Letter, we test the continuous spontaneous localization (CSL) model, one of the mathematically well-motivated wave function collapse models aimed at solving the long-standing unresolved quantum mechanical measurement problem. While the CSL predicts the existence of a detectable radiation signature in the x-ray domain, we find no evidence of such radiation in the 19-100 keV range in a 37.5 kg-y enriched germanium exposure collected between December 31, 2015, and November 27, 2019, with the Demonstrator. We explored both the non-mass-proportional (n-m-p) and the mass-proportional (m-p) versions of the CSL with two different assumptions: that only the quasifree electrons can emit the x-ray radiation and that the nucleus can coherently emit an amplified radiation. In all cases, we set the most stringent upper limit to date for the white CSL model on the collapse rate, λ, providing a factor of 40-100 improvement in sensitivity over comparable searches. Our limit is the most stringent for large parts of the allowed parameter space. If the result is interpreted in terms of the Diòsi-Penrose gravitational wave function collapse model, the lower bound with a 95% confidence level is almost an order of magnitude improvement over the previous best limit.

Abstract
Axions were originally proposed to explain the strong-CP problem in QCD. Through axion-photon coupling, the Sun could be a major source of axions, which could be measured in solid state detection experiments with enhancements due to coherent Primakoff-Bragg scattering. The Majorana Demonstrator experiment has searched for solar axions with a set of ^{76}Ge-enriched high purity germanium detectors using a 33 kg-yr exposure collected between January, 2017 and November, 2019. A temporal-energy analysis gives a new limit on the axion-photon coupling as g_{aγ}<1.45×10^{-9} GeV^{-1} (95% confidence level) for axions with mass up to 100 eV/c^{2}. This improves laboratory-based limits between about 1 eV/c^{2} and 100 eV/c^{2}.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WWW production and a measurement of its cross section using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two jets, as well as events with three charged leptons, are selected. A multivariate technique is then used to discriminate between signal and background events. Events from WWW production are observed with a significance of 8.0 standard deviations, where the expectation is 5.4 standard deviations. The inclusive WWW production cross section is measured to be 820±100 (stat)±80 (syst) fb, approximately 2.6 standard deviations from the predicted cross section of 511±18 fb calculated at next-to-leading-order QCD and leading-order electroweak accuracy.

Observation of a State X(2600) in the π^{+}π^{-}η' System in the Process J/ψ→γπ^{+}π^{-}η'. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 129:042001. Abstract
Based on (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, the process J/ψ→γπ^{+}π^{-}η^{'} is studied using two largest decay channels of the η^{'} meson, η^{'}→γπ^{+}π^{-} and η^{'}→ηπ^{+}π^{-}, η→γγ. A new resonance, which we denote as the X(2600), is observed with a statistical significance larger than 20σ in the π^{+}π^{-}η^{'} invariant mass spectrum, and it has a connection to a structure around 1.5 GeV/c^{2} in the π^{+}π^{-} invariant mass spectrum. A simultaneous fit on the π^{+}π^{-}η^{'} and π^{+}π^{-} invariant mass spectra with the two η^{'} decay modes indicates that the mass and width of the X(2600) state are 2618.3±2.0_{-1.4}^{+16.3} MeV/c^{2} and 195±5_{-17}^{+26} MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second systematic.

Abstract
Using a sample of about 10^{10} J/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=3.097 GeV with the BESIII detector, the electromagnetic Dalitz decays J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}π^{+}π^{-}η^{'}, with η^{'}→γπ^{+}π^{-} and η^{'}→π^{+}π^{-}η, have been studied. The decay J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}X(1835) is observed with a significance of 15σ, and also an e^{+}e^{-} invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}X(1835) is presented for the first time. The intermediate states X(2120) and X(2370) are also observed in the π^{+}π^{-}η^{'} invariant-mass spectrum with significances of 5.3σ and 7.3σ. The corresponding product branching fractions for J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}X, X→π^{+}π^{-}η^{'} [X=X(1835), X(2120), and X(2370)] are reported.

Abstract
We report on the direct search for cosmic relic neutrinos using data acquired during the first two science campaigns of the KATRIN experiment in 2019. Beta-decay electrons from a high-purity molecular tritium gas source are analyzed by a high-resolution MAC-E filter around the end point at 18.57 keV. The analysis is sensitive to a local relic neutrino overdensity ratio of η<9.7×10^{10}/α (1.1×10^{11}/α) at a 90% (95%) confidence level with α=1 (0.5) for Majorana (Dirac) neutrinos. A fit of the integrated electron spectrum over a narrow interval around the end point accounting for relic neutrino captures in the tritium source reveals no significant overdensity. This work improves the results obtained by the previous neutrino mass experiments at Los Alamos and Troitsk. We furthermore update the projected final sensitivity of the KATRIN experiment to η<1×10^{10}/α at 90% confidence level, by relying on updated operational conditions.

Abstract
The standard model of particle physics1-4 describes the known fundamental particles and forces that make up our Universe, with the exception of gravity. One of the central features of the standard model is a field that permeates all of space and interacts with fundamental particles5-9. The quantum excitation of this field, known as the Higgs field, manifests itself as the Higgs boson, the only fundamental particle with no spin. In 2012, a particle with properties consistent with the Higgs boson of the standard model was observed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN10,11. Since then, more than 30 times as many Higgs bosons have been recorded by the ATLAS experiment, enabling much more precise measurements and new tests of the theory. Here, on the basis of this larger dataset, we combine an unprecedented number of production and decay processes of the Higgs boson to scrutinize its interactions with elementary particles. Interactions with gluons, photons, and W and Z bosons-the carriers of the strong, electromagnetic and weak forces-are studied in detail. Interactions with three third-generation matter particles (bottom (b) and top (t) quarks, and tau leptons (τ)) are well measured and indications of interactions with a second-generation particle (muons, μ) are emerging. These tests reveal that the Higgs boson discovered ten years ago is remarkably consistent with the predictions of the theory and provide stringent constraints on many models of new phenomena beyond the standard model.

Abstract
Abstract
Study question
Does the Patient-Centred Questionnaire-Infertility (PCQ-Infertility) validate in China? Do patients experience different on patient-centredness in public fertility care compared to that in private fertility care?
Summary answer
PCQ-Infertility is valid in China. The patients in private fertility care have better experiences on patient-centredness than that in publicly fertility from results of PCQ-Infertility.
What is known already
Patient-centredness is one of the most important elements of quality of care. The PCQ-Infertility has validated to be a reliable tool to assess the extent of patient-centredness of fertility care in many countries, cross European counties to New Zealand. In China, physicians in many hospitals have recognized the importance of patient-centred infertility care, but lack of using instrument to measure it and then to improve it.
Study design, size, duration
This is a cross-sectional study. A survey with written questionnaire was performed among patients who diagnosed with infertility in Reproductive Medical Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University (publicly funded fertility care and Reproductive Medical Center of Hainan Modern Women and Children’s Hospital (private funded fertility care) between July and December 2021.
Participants/materials, setting, methods
In this study, 315 patients and 189 patients completed the survey at two reproductive medical centers. We used patient’s questionnaires to collect data on the patients’ experience with the quality of care. The PCQ-Infertility content, besides background questions, the questionnaire included 46 care aspects. Psychometric tests included inter-item and reliability analyses. An elaborate multivariate multilevel regression analysis was performed to assess the PCQs ability to measure differences in patient-centredness between reproductive medical centers.
Main results and the role of chance
The questionnaire was completed by 315 and 189 patients from the two hospitals. Patients’ mean scores on overall patient-centredness and the eight subscales (possible range 0–3) were calculated. High scores represent positive experiences with care. Both private and public hospitals scored high on care organization and communication. The lowest scores for both hospitals were the subscale, namely,‘information’. The significant differences between two hospitals were in “accessibility, respect for patient’s values, continuity and transition”.
Limitations, reasons for caution
This study is cross-sectional, the sample size is small, and enrolled fertility care centers are only two.
Wider implications of the findings
The PCQ-infertility is encouraged to be used in China to measure the patient-centredness, and can be adopted for quality improvement especially for publicly funded fertility care.

Abstract
We present the precision measurement of 2824 daily helium fluxes in cosmic rays from May 20, 2011 to October 29, 2019 in the rigidity interval from 1.71 to 100 GV based on 7.6×10^{8} helium nuclei collected with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) aboard the International Space Station. The helium flux and the helium to proton flux ratio exhibit variations on multiple timescales. In nearly all the time intervals from 2014 to 2018, we observed recurrent helium flux variations with a period of 27 days. Shorter periods of 9 days and 13.5 days are observed in 2016. The strength of all three periodicities changes with time and rigidity. In the entire time period, we found that below ∼7 GV the helium flux exhibits larger time variations than the proton flux, and above ∼7 GV the helium to proton flux ratio is time independent. Remarkably, below 2.4 GV a hysteresis between the helium to proton flux ratio and the helium flux was observed at greater than the 7σ level. This shows that at low rigidity the modulation of the helium to proton flux ratio is different before and after the solar maximum in 2014.

Abstract
Though immensely successful, the standard model of particle physics does not offer any explanation as to why our Universe contains so much more matter than antimatter. A key to a dynamically generated matter-antimatter asymmetry is the existence of processes that violate the combined charge conjugation and parity (CP) symmetry1. As such, precision tests of CP symmetry may be used to search for physics beyond the standard model. However, hadrons decay through an interplay of strong and weak processes, quantified in terms of relative phases between the amplitudes. Although previous experiments constructed CP observables that depend on both strong and weak phases, we present an approach where sequential two-body decays of entangled multi-strange baryon-antibaryon pairs provide a separation between these phases. Our method, exploiting spin entanglement between the double-strange Ξ- baryon and its antiparticle2 [Formula: see text], has enabled a direct determination of the weak-phase difference, (ξP - ξS) = (1.2 ± 3.4 ± 0.8) × 10-2 rad. Furthermore, three independent CP observables can be constructed from our measured parameters. The precision in the estimated parameters for a given data sample size is several orders of magnitude greater than achieved with previous methods3. Finally, we provide an independent measurement of the recently debated Λ decay parameter αΛ (refs. 4,5). The [Formula: see text] asymmetry is in agreement with and compatible in precision to the most precise previous measurement4.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study reviews the indications and outcome of emergency laparotomy for paediatric trauma in a South African trauma centre. METHODS This was a retrospective study of all children less than 18 years of age who underwent an emergency laparotomy for trauma between December 2012 and October 2020 at Grey's Hospital in Pietermaritzburg. RESULTS During the eight-year period under review, a total of 136 children of which 107 were male underwent a laparotomy for trauma. The median age was 14 years. There were 80 (57.1%) blunt mechanisms, and the rest were penetrating mechanisms. A total of 46 (33%) patients required ICU admission. Thirty-four patients developed a complication. These included nine cases of pneumonia, one case of renal failure, two patients developed abdominal collections, three woundrelated complications, three neurological complications and one miscellaneous complication. There were seven (5%) deaths. The penetrating cohort were older than the blunt cohort. Solid viscera were more likely to be injured in the blunt cohort and hollow viscera more likely in the penetrating cohort. A total of 16 (11%) patients underwent damage control surgery (DCS). Of this cohort, there were three female children. Six sustained blunt trauma and ten penetrating trauma. A total of six (37%) of these children died. CONCLUSION Emergency laparotomy for trauma in children is not infrequent in Pietermaritzburg and there is a high incidence of penetrating trauma in this cohort. The response to increased degrees of physiological derangement is the application of DCS. Ongoing efforts to develop and strengthen a paediatric trauma service appear to be justified.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the surgical technology and clinical efficacy of using the all-inside subtalar arthroscopy through three portals combined with rafting screws technique for the treatment of the calcaneal fractures of Sanders Ⅱ and Ⅲ. Methods: The clinical data of 33 patients (33 feet) with intra-articular displaced calcaneal fractures treated by modified all-inside arthroscopic from March 2017 to March 2019 at Department of Orthopedics,Xuzhou Central Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. There were 19 male patients, and 14 female patients, aged (32.6±11.3) years(range:20 to 55 years). According to the Sanders classification, there were 12 cases of type Ⅱ and 21 cases of type Ⅲ. The duration from injury to surgery was (101.2±32.1) hours(range:6 to 140 hours). The preoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) was 6.4±2.9 (range: 4 to 8); The preoperative American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot scale and the SF-36 score was 63.3±11.8 (range:50 to 75) and 94.8±9.1 (range:70 to 105) respectively. All the patients were managed with the all-side subtalar arthroscopy through three portals combined with rafting screws technique. The incision healing, reduction of fracture, and fracture healing were recorded. The VAS,AOFAS ankle-hindfoot scale, and SF-36 score were used to assess the pain and functional outcomes.Repeated-measurement was used to compare the scores before and after surgery. Results: The time of operation was (69.7±10.4) minutes (range:40 to 110 minutes). All patients did not undergo bone grafting. The incision healed in one stage without complications of skin sensory and peroneal tendon injury. All patients were followed up for 24 months. At the last follow-up,all the patients were satisfied with the hindfoot alignment, function, and hindfoot appearance.Postoperative calcaneal imaging indicators (calcaneal length, calcaneal width, calcaneal height,Bohler angle and Gissane angle) were significantly improved compared with those before surgery (P<0.01).There was no statistically significant difference in the imaging indexes of calcaneus at 1 day,1 year and 2 years after surgery, indicating no loss of fracture reduction (all P>0.05).The VAS,AOFAS ankle-hindfoot scale, and SF-36 score were 1.5±0.4 (range: 0 to 2),94.0±6.5 (range:90 to 100),and 119.1±7.2 (range:105 to 130),respectively,which were better than those before surgery (all P>0.05).According to the AOFAS scoring system,27 cases were excellent,4 cases were good, 2 cases were fair, and the excellent and good rate was 94.0%. Conclusion: All-inside subtalar arthroscopy through three portals combined with rafting screws technique for the treatment of the calcaneal fractures of Sanders Ⅱ and Ⅲ provides precise reduction, reliable fixation, satisfactory function and limited complications, which is an alternative method.

Abstract
Investigate theclinical practice of seizure prophylaxis after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage in Chinese neurosurgeons.Aquestionnaire for this theme was designed and was sent to respondents through the internet. From July 2021 to October 2021, atotal of forty-three eligible questionnaires were collected. All responders come from affiliated hospitals of medical schools in China. Each of these hospitals admitted more than one hundred patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage per year. Only 9.3% (4/43) of responders disagree with the prophylactic use of anticonvulsants. 86.04% (37/43) of responders perform seizure prophylaxis in clinical practice. Sodium valproate is the most commonly used regimen; 94.59% (35/37) of responders who perform prophylaxis chose this drug. The medication period differs sharply fromlessthan 3 daystolongerthan 14 daysamong different hospitals. The use of EEG was insufficient in Chinese patients. A low seizure rate was reported according to the feedback from Chinese neurosurgeons. In China, seizure prophylaxis after subarachnoid hemorrhage was not yet standardized. Clinicians' mastery of relevant knowledge is still not enough. Carrying out high-quality clinical research can help justify the use of anticonvulsants, which could also positively impact rational drug use.
