Abstract
We report first observations of B(s)(0) → J/ψη and B(s)(0) → J/ψη'. The results are obtained from 121.4 fb(-1) of data collected at the Υ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- collider. We obtain the branching fractions B(B(s)(0) → J/ψη)=[5.10±0.50(stat)±0.25(syst)(-0.79)(+1.14)(N(B(s)(*) B(s)(*))]×10(-4), and B(B(s)(0) → J/ψη')=[3.71±0.61(stat)±0.18(syst)(-0.57)(+0.83)(N(B(s)(*) B(s)(*))]×10(-4). The ratio of the two branching fractions is measured to be (B(B(s) → J/ψη'))/(B(B(s) → J/ψη))=0.73±0.14(stat)±0.02(syst).

Abstract
We present a precise measurement of the CP violation parameter sin2φ1 and the direct CP violation parameter A(f) using the final data sample of 772×10(6) BB[over ¯] pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. One neutral B meson is reconstructed in a J/ψK(S)(0), ψ(2S)K(S)(0), χ(c1)K(S)(0), or J/ψK(L)(0) CP eigenstate and its flavor is identified from the decay products of the accompanying B meson. From the distribution of proper-time intervals between the two B decays, we obtain the following CP violation parameters: sin2φ1=0.667±0.023(stat)±0.012(syst) and A(f)=0.006±0.016(stat)±0.012(syst).

Abstract
We report a measurement of the CP-violation parameter sin2φ1 at the Υ(5S) resonance using a new tagging method, called "B-π tagging." In Υ(5S) decays containing a neutral B meson, a charged B, and a charged pion, the neutral B is reconstructed in the J/ψK(S)(0) CP-eigenstate decay channel. The initial flavor of the neutral B meson at the moment of the Υ(5S) decay is opposite to that of the charged B and may thus be inferred from the charge of the pion without reconstructing the charged B. From the asymmetry between B-π(+) and B-π(-) tagged J/ψK(S)(0) yields, we determine sin2φ1=0.57±0.58(stat)±0.06(syst). The results are based on 121 fb(-1) of data recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider.

Abstract
We report the observation of two narrow structures in the mass spectra of the π(±)Υ(nS) (n=1, 2, 3) and π(±)h(b)(mP) (m=1, 2) pairs that are produced in association with a single charged pion in Υ(5S) decays. The measured masses and widths of the two structures averaged over the five final states are M(1)=(10,607.2±2.0) MeV/c2, Γ(1)=(18.4±2.4) MeV, and M(2)=(10,652.2±1.5) MeV/c2, Γ(2)=(11.5±2.2) MeV. The results are obtained with a 121.4 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector in the vicinity of the Υ(5S) resonance at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider.

Abstract
We search for CP violation in Cabibbo-suppressed charged D meson decays by measuring the difference between the CP-violating asymmetries for the Cabibbo-suppressed decays D(±)→K(+)K(-)π(±) and the Cabibbo-favored decays D(s)(±)→K(+)K(-)π(±) in the K(+)K(-) mass region of the ϕ resonance. Using 955 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector, we obtain A(CP)(D+→ϕπ+)=(+0.51±0.28±0.05)%. The measurement improves the sensitivity of previous searches by more than a factor of 5. We find no evidence for direct CP violation.

Abstract
We evaluated the maturation of grafted bone in cases of successful fusion after a one- or two-level posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) using interbody carbon cages. We carried out a five-year prospective longitudinal radiological evaluation of patients using plain radiographs and CT scans. One year after surgery, 117 patients with an early successful fusion were selected for inclusion in the study. Radiological evaluation of interbody bone fusion was graded on a 4-point scale. The mean grades of all radiological and CT assessments increased in the five years after surgery, and differences compared to the previous time interval were statistically significant for three or four years after surgery. Because the grafted bone continues to mature for three years after surgery, the success of a fusion should not be assessed until at least three years have elapsed. There were no significant differences in the longitudinal patterns of grafted bone maturity between iliac bone and local bone. However, iliac bone grafting may remodel faster than local bone.

Abstract
We report measurements of the branching fractions and CP asymmetries for B(±)→ηh(±) (h=K or π) and the observation of the decay B(0)→ηK(0) from the final data sample of 772×10(6) B ̅B pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The measured branching fractions are B(B(±)→ηK(±))=(2.12±0.23±0.11)×10(-6), B(B(±)→ηπ(±))=(4.07±0.26±0.21)×10(-6), and B(B(0)→ηK(0))=(1.27(-0.29)(+0.33)±0.08)×10(-6), where the last decay is observed for the first time with a significance of 5.4 standard deviations (σ). We also find evidence for CP violation in the charged B modes, A(CP)(B(±)→ηK(±))=-0.38±0.11±0.01 and A(CP)(B(±)→ηπ(±))=-0.19±0.06±0.01 with significances of 3.8 σ and 3.0 σ, respectively. For all measurements, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Abstract
We report the first observations of the spin-singlet bottomonium states h(b)(1P) and h(b)(2P). The states are produced in the reaction e(+)e(-)→h(b)(nP)π(+)π(-) using a 121.4 fb(-1) data sample collected at energies near the Υ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We determine M[h(b)(1P)]=(9898.2(-1.0-1.1)(+1.1+1.0)) MeV/c(2) and M[h(b)(2P)]=(10,259.8±0.6(-1.0)(+1.4)) MeV/c(2), which correspond to P-wave hyperfine splittings ΔM(HF)=(+1.7±1.5) and (+0.5(-1.2)(+1.6)) MeV/c(2), respectively. The significances of the h(b)(1P) and h(b)(2P) are 5.5σ and 11.2σ, respectively. We find that the production of the h(b)(1P) and h(b)(2P) is not suppressed relative to the production of the Υ(1S), Υ(2S), and Υ(3S).

Abstract
We report the first observation of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D(+)→K(+)η((')) using a 791 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The ratio of the branching fractions of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed relative to singly Cabibbo-suppressed D(+)→π(+)η((')) decays are B(D(+)→K(+)η)/B(D(+)→π(+)η)=(3.06±0.43±0.14)% and B(D(+)→K(+)η')/B(D(+)→π(+)η')=(3.77±0.39±0.10)%. From these, we find that the relative final-state phase difference between the tree and annihilation amplitudes in D(+) decays, δ(TA), is (72±9)° or (288±9)°. We also report the most precise measurements of CP asymmetries to date: A(CP)(D(+)→π(+)η)=(+1.74±1.13±0.19)% and A(CP)(D(+)→π(+)η')=(-0.12±1.12±0.17)%.

Abstract
Chitinase 3-like 1 (CHI3L1), one of mammalian members of the chitinase family, is expressed in several types of human cancer, and elevated serum level of CHI3L1 is suggested to be a biomarker of poor prognosis in advanced cancer patients. However, the overall biological function of CHI3L1 in human cancers still remains unknown. Studies were performed to characterize the role of CHI3L1 in cancer pathophysiology utilizing human colorectal cancer samples and human cell lines. Plasma protein and tissue mRNA expression levels of CHI3L1 in colorectal cancer were strongly upregulated. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that CHI3L1 was expressed in cancer cells and CHI3L1 expression had a significant association with the number of infiltrated macrophages and microvessel density. By utilizing trans-well migration and tube formation assays, overexpression of CHI3L1 in SW480 cells (human colon cancer cells) enhanced the migration of THP-1 cells (human macrophage cells) and HUVECs (human endothelial cells), and the tube formation of HUVECs. The knockdown of CHI3L1 by RNA interference or the neutralization of CHI3L1 by anti-CHI3L1 antibody displayed strong suppression of CHI3L1-induced migration and tube formation. Cell proliferation assay showed that CHI3L1 overexpression significantly enhanced the proliferation of SW480 cells. ELISA analysis showed that CHI3L1 increased the secretion of inflammatory chemokines, IL-8 and MCP-1, from SW480 cells through mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. Both neutralization of IL-8 or MCP-1 and inhibition or knockdown of MAPK in SW480 cells significantly inhibited CHI3L1-induced migration and tube formation. In a xenograft mouse model, overexpression of CHI3L1 in HCT116 cells (human colon cancer cells) enhanced the tumor growth as well as macrophage infiltration and microvessel density. In conclusion, CHI3L1 expressed in colon cancer cells promotes cancer cell proliferation, macrophage recruitment and angiogenesis. Thus, the inhibition of CHI3L1 activity may be a novel therapeutic strategy for human colorectal cancer.

Abstract
Upright Ag nanoplates on a nanoparticulate TiO(2) film are oriented on the basis of plasmon-induced charge separation. Polarized visible light removes nanoplates oriented perpendicularly to polarization via excitation of in-plane transverse mode. Polarized near-infrared light removes nanoplates in parallel geometry via excitation of in-plane longitudinal mode.

Abstract
We report on a search for CP violation in τ(±)→K(S)(0)π(±)ν(τ) decays using a data sample of 699 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB electron-positron asymmetric-energy collider. The CP asymmetry is measured in four bins of the invariant mass of the K(S)(0)π(±) system and found to be compatible with zero with a precision of O(10(-3)) in each mass bin. Limits for the CP violation parameter Im(η(S)) are given at the 90% confidence level. These limits are |Im(η(S))| < 0.026 or better, depending on the parametrization used to describe the hadronic form factors, and improve upon previous limits by 1 order of magnitude.

Abstract
We report a study of B→(J/ψγ)K and B→(ψ'γ)K decay modes using 772×10⁶ B ̅B events collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We observe X(3872)→J/ψγ and report the first evidence for χ(c2)→J/ψγ in B→(X_{c ̅cγ)K decays, while in a search for X(3872)→ψ'γ no significant signal is found. We measure the branching fractions, B(B(±)→X(3872)K(±))B(X(3872)→J/ψγ)=(1.78(-0.44)(+0.48)±0.12)×10(-6), B(B(±)→χ(c2)K(±))=(1.11(-0.34)(+0.36)±0.09)×10(-5), B(B(±)→X(3872)K(±))B(X(3872)→ψ'γ)<3.45×10⁶ (upper limit at 90% C.L.), and also provide upper limits for other searches.

Abstract
The interference fragmentation function translates the fragmentation of a quark with a transverse projection of the spin into an azimuthal asymmetry of two final-state hadrons. In e(+)e(-) annihilation the product of two interference fragmentation functions is measured. We report nonzero asymmetries for pairs of charge-ordered π(+)π(-) pairs, which indicate a significant interference fragmentation function in this channel. The results are obtained from a 672 fb(-1) data sample that contains 711 × 10(6) π(+)π(-) pairs and was collected at and near the Υ(4S) resonance, with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Single-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) has been recently introduced to achieve clinical benefits over standard LC. However, surgical outcomes of this operation have been poorly described compared with current techniques. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the surgical outcomes of single-port LC compared with needlescopic and conventional LC. METHODS We reviewed the surgical outcomes of consecutive patients with symptomatic gallbladder stone disease who underwent single-port LC (31 cases), needlescopic LC (26 cases) and conventional LC (32 cases) from March 2009 to January 2010. Operation time, hospital stay, conversion, complications, and postoperative pain using visual analog scale were analyzed. In addition, patients were interviewed for overall satisfaction and cosmetic results. RESULTS BMI in the single-port group was significantly lower than in the conventional group (26.0 ± 4.0 vs 30.8 ± 7.3 kg/m(2) , P=0.0017). Operation time in the single-port group was significantly longer than in the conventional group (65.1 ± 20.1 minutes vs 52.2 ± 19.6 minutes, P=0.012). There was one conversion in the single-port group. In nine cases in the single-port group (29%), a Kirschner wire or a suture retractor helped visualization. There was one complication in the single-port group (wound infection) and one in the needlescopic group (bile leak, requiring laparoscopy). Hospital stay, visual analog scale scores, and overall satisfaction did not vary among these groups. Greater cosmetic satisfaction was shown in the single-port group compared with the conventional group (P=0.039). CONCLUSION Single-port LC is feasible and secure, with better cosmetic results than conventional LC. Further prospective randomized studies are still required to show its superiority over current LC techniques.

Abstract
We investigated the feasibility of hypothermic- orcryogenically-preserved human hepatoma Hep G2 cell preculturedin 96-well plates in cytotoxicity testings. First, we observedthat microplates precoated with both collagen (CN) and pronectin (PN) showed significantly improved living cell adhesion (71.0 +/- 5.5%) after 48 hr of cryopreservation with 10%-DMSO containing culture medium, whereas non-coated surfaces gave very low living cell adhesion (33.5 +/- 2.1%). Hypothermic preservation was most suitable for short-term storage, and cryogenic preservation at -20 degrees C allowed cells to be used within a week of the storage period. Only cryopreservation in a deep freezer (-85 degrees C) gave satisfactory results in much longer period of storage. Second, we evaluated the cytotoxicity of ten chemicals during 48 hr of exposure using hypothermically - (4 degrees C for 2 days) or cryogenically - (-85 degrees C for 7 days) preserved cells cultured inCN/PN-precoated microplates in comparison with results fromfreshly inoculated cells. Although almost the same LD(50)values were obtained, LD(10) values of relatively hydrophilic chemicals obtained with cryopreserved cell were significantly lowered. These results shown that CN/PN-precoating is effective in keeping cells attached even in recultivation of preserved cells and that the toxicities of relatively hydrophilic chemicals tend to be overestimated when we use preserved cells in that manner.

Abstract
The fabrication of tissue engineering scaffolds for the reconstruction of highly oxygen-dependent inner organs is discussed. An additive manufacturing technology known as selective laser sintering was employed to fabricate a highly porous scaffold with an embedded flow channel network. A porogen leaching system was used to obtain high porosity. A prototype was developed using the biodegradable plastic polycaprolactone and sodium chloride as the porogen. A high porosity of 90% was successfully obtained. Micro x-ray CT observation was carried out to confirm that channels with a diameter of approximately 1 mm were generated without clogging. The amount of residual salt was 930 µg while the overall volume of the scaffold was 13 cm(3), and it was confirmed that the toxicity of the salt was negligible. The hydrophilization of the scaffold to improve cell adhesion on the scaffold is also discussed. Oxygen plasma ashing and hydrolysis with sodium hydroxide, typically employed to improve the hydrophilicity of plastic surfaces, were tested. The improvement of hydrophilicity was confirmed by an increase in water retention by the porous scaffold from 180% to 500%.

Abstract
The suppressed decay chain B(-)→DK(-), D→K(+)π(-), where D indicates a D(¯)(0) or D(0) state, provides important information on the CP-violating angle ϕ(3). We measure the ratio R(DK) of the decay rates to the favored mode B(-)→DK(-), D→K(-)π(+) to be R(DK)=[1.63(-0.41)(+0.44)(stat)(-0.13)(+0.07)(syst)]×10(-2), which indicates the first evidence of the signal with a significance of 4.1σ. We also measure the asymmetry A(DK) between the charge-conjugate decays to be A(DK)=-0.39(-0.28)(+0.26)(stat)(-0.03)(+0.04)(syst). The results are based on the full 772×10(6) BB(¯) pair data sample collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector.

Abstract
We have searched for CP violation in the decays D(0)→K(S)(0)P(0) where P(0) denotes a neutral pseudoscalar meson that is either a π(0), η, or η' using KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 791 fb(-1) collected with the Belle detector. No evidence of significant CP violation is observed. We report the most precise CP asymmetry measurement in the decay D(0)→K(S)(0)π(0) to date: A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)π(0))=(-0.28±0.19±0.10)%. We also report the first measurements of CP asymmetries in the decays D(0)→K(S)(0)η and D(0)→K(S)(0)η': A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)η)=(+0.54±0.51±0.16)% and A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)η')=(+0.98±0.67±0.14)%, respectively.

Abstract
A secure communication network with quantum key distribution in a metropolitan area is reported. Six different QKD systems are integrated into a mesh-type network. GHz-clocked QKD links enable us to demonstrate the world-first secure TV conferencing over a distance of 45km. The network includes a commercial QKD product for long-term stable operation, and application interface to secure mobile phones. Detection of an eavesdropper, rerouting into a secure path, and key relay via trusted nodes are demonstrated in this network.

Abstract
We report the observation of B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(980) and evidence for B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(1370), which are CP eigenstate decay modes. These results are obtained from 121.4 fb⁻¹ of data collected at the Υ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e⁻ collider. We measure the branching fractions B(B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(980); f₀(980)→π(+)π⁻)=(1.16(-0.19)(+0.31)(stat)(-0.17)(+0.15)(syst)(-0.18)(+0.26)(N(B(s)((*))B(s)((*)))))×10⁻⁴ with a significance of 8.4σ, and B(B(s)⁰→J/ψf₀(1370); f₀(1370)→π(+)π⁻)=(0.34(-0.14)(+0.11)(stat)(-0.02)(+0.03)(syst)(-0.05)(+0.08)(N(B(s)((*))B(s)((*)))))×10⁻⁴ with a significance of 4.2σ. Abstract
We present a case where immediate muscle relaxation was needed following sugammadex administration. A 72 year-old female underwent surgery for a cerebral artery aneurysm. Upon conclusion of the operation sugammadex (9.3 mg/kg) was administered and the patient was noted to have left hemiplegia. Rocuronium (1.2 mg/kg × 2 doses) was given in order to gain neuromuscular block approximately 25 minutes after sugammadex had been injected. Although TOF monitoring was not utilized in this case and assessing residual muscular block was difficult, spontaneous respirations continued and breathing had to be controlled with sevoflurane and remifentanil. Sugammadex is a potent reversal agent for rocuronium-induced neuromuscular block, however, certain situations require immediate neuromuscular blockade following sugammadex. In this case, rocuronium was unable to induce neuromuscular blockade immediately after sugammadex and that higher concentrations were necessary in addition to intravenous analgesics and inhaled anesthetics.

Abstract
Diabetic nephropathy is the most common pathological disorder predisposing end-stage renal disease. ONO-1301 is a novel sustained-release prostacyclin analog possessing thromboxane (TX) synthase inhibitory activity. Here, we aimed to investigate the therapeutic efficacies of ONO-1301 in a rat type 1 diabetic nephropathy model. Streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats received injections of slow-release form of ONO-1301 (SR-ONO) every 3 weeks. Animals were sacrificed at Week 14. SR-ONO significantly suppressed albuminuria, glomerular hypertrophy, mesangial matrix accumulation, glomerular accumulation of monocyte/macrophage, increase in glomerular levels of pro-fibrotic factor transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta1 and the number of glomerular alpha-smooth muscle actin (SMA)(+) cells in diabetic animals. The glomerular levels of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) were significantly increased in SR-ONO-treated diabetic animals. Taken together, these results suggest the potential therapeutic efficacy of intermittent administration of SR-ONO in treating diabetic nephropathy potentially via inducing HGF, thus counteracting the pro-fibrotic effects of TGF-beta1.

Abstract
AbstractA new contact type linear image sensor, which has 8.5 inches in length and 300 dot/inch, has been developed. By using a thin film transistor (TFT) array as a switching device, it requires only one IC chip compared with 20 ICs in conventional sensor. The new sensor integrates a-Si:H photodiode (PD) array, a-Si:H TFT array, multiplex circuits and an analog multiplexer on a single substrate. The TFT has an inverted staggered structure and amorphous silicon nitride (SiNx) is used as a gate insulator. The PD has a Cr/a-Si:H/ITQ sandwich structure and each PD is completely isolated by photolithography. In the multiplex circuits, a ground line is inserted between each signal line to reduce a capacitive coupling between them.A new custom LSI has also been developed. It has 64-ch input terminals to detect small signal with amplification and 41-ch output terminals to control the gates of TFT array. The sensor with the new LSI has achieved 2MHz clock frequency operation and proved to be used as a high speed device.

Abstract
107 Background: Prognosis of StIV GC is poor. S-1 plus cisplatin now becomes one of the Japanese standards for unresectable or recurrent GC. We conducted a multicenter phase II study of preoperative S-1 plus cisplatin for StIV GC (KYUH-UHA-GC03-01, NCT00088816 ). In ASCO 2010, we reported early outcomes, indicating that this regimen is feasible and safe. We will report here the results concerning prognosis and recurrence. Methods: Eligibility criteria included histologically proven StIV GC according to Japanese classification. Helical CT and staging laparoscopy were mandatory. Patients (pts) received oral S-1 (80-120 mg/body/day, day 1-21) and intravenous cisplatin (60 mg/m2 on day 8) every 5 weeks for 2 courses. After CX, operation was performed. S-1 (80-120 mg/body/day, day 1-14) was administered every 3 weeks for one year postoperatively. The primary endpoint was 2-year overall survival (OS), and the secondary endpoints were progression free survival (PFS), response, pathologic response, R0 resection, surgical complication, the first recurrence sites and toxicities. Sample size was set at 50. Results: 51 pts were enrolled and all pts were observed more than 2 years after registration. The median age was 63 (range 35-79). PreOp CX was accomplished in 44 cases. Response was 50% (95% CI: 27.2-72.8). 44 (86.3%) pts underwent surgery and R0 resection was done in 26 pts (51%). Adjuvant chemotherarpy was accomplished in 11 cases. Recurrences were observed 14 cases (53.8%). Most frequent recurrence site was peritoneum. 2-Y OS and PFS were 43.1% [96% CI: 29.4-56.1] and 33.3% [20.9-46.2], respectively. R0 in GC with single StIV factor (n = 24) was 79.2% and that in GC with multiple StIV factors (n = 27) was 25.9%, respectively. All pts with only Cy+ (n = 12) showed complete eradication of cancer cell by S-1/CDDP. Pts with only Cy+ showed significantly better prognosis than other pts. Conclusions: As compared to Japanese national StIV control (OS: 20.8%), this induction CX showed promising survival. Especially, pts with only Cy+ was popular and showed significantly better prognosis by S1/CDDP induction CX. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

Abstract
Despite curative locoregional treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), tumour recurrence rates remain high. The current study was designed to assess the safety and bioactivity of infusion of dendritic cells (DCs) stimulated with OK432, a streptococcus-derived anti-cancer immunotherapeutic agent, into tumour tissues following transcatheter hepatic arterial embolization (TAE) treatment in patients with HCC. DCs were derived from peripheral blood monocytes of patients with hepatitis C virus-related cirrhosis and HCC in the presence of interleukin (IL)-4 and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and stimulated with 0·1 KE/ml OK432 for 2 days. Thirteen patients were administered with 5 × 10⁶ of DCs through arterial catheter during the procedures of TAE treatment on day 7. The immunomodulatory effects and clinical responses were evaluated in comparison with a group of 22 historical controls treated with TAE but without DC transfer. OK432 stimulation of immature DCs promoted their maturation towards cells with activated phenotypes, high expression of a homing receptor, fairly well-preserved phagocytic capacity, greatly enhanced cytokine production and effective tumoricidal activity. Administration of OK432-stimulated DCs to patients was found to be feasible and safe. Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed prolonged recurrence-free survival of patients treated in this manner compared with the historical controls (P = 0·046, log-rank test). The bioactivity of the transferred DCs was reflected in higher serum concentrations of the cytokines IL-9, IL-15 and tumour necrosis factor-α and the chemokines CCL4 and CCL11. Collectively, this study suggests that a DC-based, active immunotherapeutic strategy in combination with locoregional treatments exerts beneficial anti-tumour effects against liver cancer.

Abstract
We have made the first observation of B(s)(0)→D(s)(*)+ D(s)(*)- decays using 23.6 fb(-1) of data recorded by the Belle experiment running on the Υ(5S) resonance. The branching fractions are measured to be B(B(s)(0)→D(s)+ D(s)-)=(1.03(-0.32-0.25)(+0.39+0.26))%, B(B(s)(0)→D(s)(*±) D(s)(∓))=(2.75(-0.71)(+0.83)±0.69)%, and B(B(s)(0)→D(s)*+ D(s)*-)=(3.08(-1.04-0.86)(+1.22+0.85))%; the sum is B[B(s)(0)→D(s)(*)+ D(s)(*)-]=(6.85(-1.30-1.80)(+1.53+1.79))%. Assuming B(s)(0)→D(s)(*)+ D(s)(*)- saturates decays to CP-even final states, the branching fraction determines the ratio ΔΓ(s)/cosφ, where ΔΓ(s) is the difference in widths between the two B(s)-B(s) mass eigenstates, and φ is a CP-violating weak phase. Taking CP violation to be negligibly small, we obtain ΔΓ(s)/Γ(s)=0.147(-0.030)(+0.036)(stat)(-0.041)(+0.042)(syst), where Γ(s) is the mean decay width.

Abstract
The basal ganglia represents a key component of the pathophysiological model for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). This brain region is part of several neural circuits, including the orbitofronto-striatal circuit and dorsolateral prefronto-striatal circuit. There are, however, no published studies investigating those circuits at a network level in non-medicated patients with OCD. Resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans were obtained from 20 non-medicated patients with OCD and 23 matched healthy volunteers. Voxelwise statistical parametric maps testing strength of functional connectivity of three striatal seed regions of interest (ROIs) with remaining brain regions were calculated and compared between groups. We performed additional correlation analyses between strength of connectivity and the severity scores for obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, and anxiety in the OCD group. Positive functional connectivity with the ventral striatum was significantly increased (P(corrected) < .05) in the orbitofrontal cortex, ventral medial prefrontal cortex and dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex of subjects with OCD. There was no significant correlation between measures of symptom severity and the strength of connectivity (P(uncorrected) < .001). This is the first study to investigate the corticostriatal connectivity in non-medicated patients with OCD. These findings provide the first direct evidence supporting a pathophysiological model involving basal ganglia circuitry in OCD.

Abstract
We report a first measurement of inclusive B→Xsη decays, where Xs is a charmless state with unit strangeness. The measurement is based on a pseudoinclusive reconstruction technique and uses a sample of 657×10(6)BB pairs accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. For MXs < 2.6 GeV/c2, we measure a branching fraction of [26.1±3.0(stat)-2.1+1.9(syst)-7.1+4.0(model)]×10(-5) and a direct CP asymmetry of ACP=-0.13±0.04-0.03+0.02. Over half of the signal occurs in the range MXs > 1.8 GeV/c2.

Abstract
We search for dimuon decays of a low mass particle in the decays B0→K*0 X and B0→ρ0 X using a data sample of 657×10(6)BB events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. We find no evidence for such a particle in the mass range from 212 MeV/c2 to 300 MeV/c2 for lifetimes below 10(-12) s, and set upper limits on its branching fractions. In particular, we search for a particle with a mass of 214.3 MeV/c2 reported by the HyperCP experiment, and obtain upper limits on the products B(B0→K*0 X)×B(X→μ+ μ- )<2.26(2.27)×10(-8) and B(B0→ρ0 X)×B(X→μ+ μ-)<1.73(1.73)×10(-8) at 90% C.L. for a scalar (vector) X particle.

Abstract
Treatment of cells of a methanol yeast, Candida boidinii, with the cationic detergent cetyldimethylbenzyl-ammonium chloride (Cation M2) improved the production of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde production was improved twofold with respect to the initial amount of formaldehyde and 1.61-fold with respect to the final amount of formaldehyde after a 12-h reaction under optimized detergent treatment conditions. The treatment caused formaldehyde and formate dehydrogenases to leak out of the cells more rapidly than catalase, but there was no leakage of alcohol oxidase. The improvement in formaldehyde production was considered to be due to the increased permeability of yeast cell membranes and to lower activities of formaldehyde and formate dehydrogenases in Cation M2-treated cells than in intact cells. Changes in the ultrastructure of the cells were observed upon Cation M2 treatment. Several developed peroxisomes were observed in intact cells. After Cation M2 treatment, the cells were obviously damaged, and several peroxisomes seemed to have fused with each other.

Abstract
Mutants exhibiting alcohol oxidase (EC 1.1.3.13) activity when grown on glucose in the presence of methanol were found among 2-deoxyglucose-resistant mutants derived from a methanol yeast, Candida boidinii A5. One of these mutants, strain ADU-15, showed the highest alcohol oxidase activity in glucose-containing medium. The growth characteristics and also the induction and degradation of alcohol oxidase were compared with the parent strain and mutant strain ADU-15. In the parent strain, initiation of alcohol oxidase synthesis was delayed by the addition of 0.5% glucose to the methanol medium, whereas it was not delayed in mutant strain ADU-15. This showed that alcohol oxidase underwent repression by glucose. On the other hand, degradation of alcohol oxidase after transfer of the cells from methanol to glucose medium (catabolite inactivation) was observed to proceed at similar rates in parent and mutant strains. The results of immunochemical titration experiments suggest that catabolite inactivation of alcohol oxidase is coupled with a quantitative change in the enzyme. Mutant strain ADU-15 was proved to be a catabolite repression-insensitive mutant and to produce alcohol oxidase in the presence of glucose. However, it was not an overproducer of alcohol oxidase and, in both the parent and mutant strains, alcohol oxidase was completely repressed by ethanol.

Abstract
First observations of the B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) π+, B(s)(0) → D(s)(-) ρ+ and B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+ decays are reported together with measurements of their branching fractions: B(B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) π+) = [2.4(-0.4)(+0.5)(stat) ± 0.3(syst) ± 0.4(f(s))]×10(-3), B(B(s)(0) → D(s)(-) ρ+) = [8.5(-1.2)(+1.3)(stat) ± 1.1(syst) ± 1.3(f(s))]×10(-3) and B(B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+) = [11.9(-2.0)(+2.2)(stat) ± 1.7(syst) ± 1.8(f(s))]×10(-3) (f(s) = N(B(s)(*) B(s)(*))/N(bb)). From helicity-angle distributions, we measured the longitudinal polarization fraction in B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+ decays to be f(L)(B(s)(0) → D(s)(*-) ρ+) = 1.05(-0.10)(+0.08)(stat)(-0.04)(+0.03)(syst). These results are based on a 23.6 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Υ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- collider.

Abstract
Bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs)/β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) composites have attracted a great deal of attention in bone tissue engineering. If more effective bone regeneration is to be achieved, efficient cell-seeding systems need to be clarified. In this study, we investigated the number of cells contained in composites, and the in vitro/vivo osteogenic differentiation capacity of composites using 4 conventional systems of seeding rat BMSCs into β-TCP: soak, low-pressure, pipette, and syringe systems. The highest number of cells was contained in the composites from the syringe group. Moreover, after two-week osteogenic induction in vitro, the composites in the syringe group exhibited the highest osteogenic potential, which continued at 8 weeks after subcutaneous implantation in vivo. Our results indicated that efficient and appropriate cell-seeding could improve in vitro/vivo bone formation in composites and thus make a potential clinical contribution to successful bone tissue engineering. Abstract
We have searched for CP violation in the charmed meson decays D((s))(+) --> K(S)(0)pi(+) and D((s))(+) --> K(S)(0)K(+) using 673 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. No evidence for CP violation is observed. We report the most sensitive CP asymmetry measurements to date for these decays: A(CP)(D(+)-->K(S)(0)pi(+)) = (-0.71 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.20)%, A(CP)(D(s)(+) --> K(S)(0)pi(+)) = (+5.45 +/- 2.50 +/- 0.33)%, A(CP)(D(+) --> K(S)(0)K(+)) = (-0.16 +/- 0.58 +/- 0.25)%, and A(CP)(D(s)(+) --> K(S)(0)K(+)) = (+0.12 +/- 0.36 +/- 0.22)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract
By using a water transmission line, current wave shaping was demonstrated for a fast capillary Z-pinch discharge recombination soft x-ray laser study. The pulsed power system consists of a water capacitor, a gap switch, a transmission line, and a capillary plasma load. A voltage wave initiated at the water capacitor propagates toward the capillary load through the transmission line. Control of the pulse delay that occurred in the transmission line provides the superposition of the forward and the backward voltage waves effectively in order to perform current wave shaping with higher current amplitude and rapid current decay.

Abstract
The process gammagamma-->phiJ/psi is measured using a data sample of 825 fb{-1} collected with the Belle detector. A narrow peak of 8.8{-3.2}{+4.2} events, with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations including systematic uncertainty, is observed. The mass and natural width of the structure [named X(4350)] are measured to be [4350.6{-5.1}{+4.6}(stat)+/-0.7(syst)] MeV/c{2} and [13{-9}{+18}(stat)+/-4(syst)] MeV, respectively. The product of its two-photon decay width and branching fraction to phiJ/psi is [6.7{-2.4}{+3.2}(stat)+/-1.1(syst)] eV for J{P}=0{+}, or [1.5{-0.6}{+0.7}(stat)+/-0.3(syst)] eV for J{P}=2{+}. No signal for the Y(4140)-->phiJ/psi structure reported by the CDF Collaboration in B-->K{+}phiJ/psi decays is observed, and limits of Gamma_{gammagamma}(Y(4140))B(Y(4140)-->phiJ/psi)<41 eV for J{P}=0;{+} or <6.0 eV for J{P}=2{+} are determined at the 90% C.L. This disfavors the scenario in which the Y(4140) is a D{s}{*+}D{s}{*-} molecule.

Abstract
Patients often feel pain or discomfort in response to orthodontic force. It was hypothesized that CO(2) laser irradiation may reduce the early responses to nociceptive stimuli during tooth movement. The distribution of Fos-immunoreactive (Fos-IR) neurons in the medullary dorsal horn of rats was evaluated. Two hrs after tooth movement, Fos-IR neurons in the ipsilateral part of the medullary dorsal horn increased significantly. CO(2) laser irradiation to the gingiva just after tooth movement caused a significant decrease of Fos-IR neurons. PGP 9.5- and CGRP-positive nerve fibers were observed in the PDL of all study groups. The maximum temperature below the mucosa during CO(2) laser irradiation was less than 40 degrees C. It was suggested that CO(2) laser irradiation reduced the early responses to nociceptive stimuli during tooth movement and might not have adverse effects on periodontal tissue.

Abstract
We report the results of a search for a charmoniumlike state produced in the process gammagamma-->omegaJ/psi in the 3.9-4.2 GeV/c{2} mass region. We observe a significant enhancement, which is well described by a resonant shape with mass M=(3915+/-3+/-2) MeV/c{2} and total width Gamma=(17+/-10+/-3) MeV. This enhancement may be related to one or more of the three charmoniumlike states so far reported in the 3.90-3.95 GeV/c{2} mass region.

Abstract
We present the partial branching fraction for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays and the corresponding value of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V{ub}|, using a multivariate analysis method to access approximately 90% of the B-->X{u}lnu phase space. This approach dramatically reduces the theoretical uncertainties from the b-quark mass and nonperturbative QCD compared to all previous inclusive measurements. The results are based on a sample of 657x10{6} BB[over ] pairs collected with the Belle detector. We find that DeltaB(B-->X{u}lnu;p(l){*B}>1.0 GeV/c)=1.963x(1+/-0.088{stat}+/-0.081{syst})x10{-3}. Corresponding values of |V{ub}| are extracted using several theoretical calculations.

Measurement of inclusive radiative B-meson decays with a photon energy threshold of 1.7 GeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2009; 103:241801. Abstract
Using 605 fb(-1) of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance we present a measurement of the inclusive radiative B-meson decay channel, B-->X(s)gamma. For the lower photon energy thresholds of 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0 GeV, as defined in the rest frame of the B meson, we measure the partial branching fraction and the mean and variance of the photon energy spectrum. At the 1.7 GeV threshold we obtain the partial branching fraction BF(B-->X(s)}gamma)=(3.45+/-0.15+/-0.40)x10(-4), where the errors are statistical and systematic.
