Abstract
Objective: To explore the pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of congenital factor Ⅶ (FⅦ) deficiency. Methods: Clinical data of 43 patients with congenital FⅦ deficiency diagnosed from April 1999 to September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: There were 27 females and 16 males. Median age was 16 (1-70) years. Family history was found in 6 cases. There were 29 (67.4%) cases with bleeding symptoms, most common of which were mucocutaneous bleeding (13 cases, 30.2%) , oral bleeding (13 cases, 30.2%) , and epistaxis (9 cases, 20.9%) . Menorrhagia occurred in 11 cases (47.6% of female patients who were in fertile age) . Laboratory findings were characterized by significantly prolonged prothrombin time (PT) , normal partial thromboplastin time (APTT) , and decreased FⅦ activity (FⅦ∶C) . Ten cases received gene mutation analysis and 3 new mutations were found. Fourteen cases (32.6%) were treated with prothrombin complex concentrates (PCC) , 12 (27.9%) with fresh frozen plasma (FFP) , and 3 (7.0%) with human recombinant activated FⅦ (rFⅦa) . Twenty cases (46.5%) with no or mild bleeding symptoms did not receive any replacement therapy. Previous bleeding symptoms recurred in 5 patients (11.6%) , 8 females still had heavy menstrual bleeding, and 9 patients (20.9%) were lost to follow-up. Conclusion: Most patients with congenital FⅦ deficiency have mild or no bleeding symptoms, but have a tendency to excessive bleeding after surgery or trauma. There is no significant correlation between FⅦ∶C and severity of bleeding symptoms. Prophylaxis should be applied in patients with severe bleeding symptoms and rFⅦa is the first choice. Gene mutation test is significant for screening, diagnosis, and prognosis prediction of the disease.

Abstract
Lymphoma of the parotid gland is a rare malignant tumor, and cohort studies on the survival rates of affected patients are sparse. This study aimed to retrospectively evaluate the clinicopathological characteristics of patients diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the parotid gland. This study included 31 patients diagnosed with lymphoma of the parotid gland. Data on the pathological subtypes, the WHO classifications of the hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues, and the Ann Arbor staging, treatment modalities, and survival times were collected and analyzed. Among the 31 patients, there were 18 cases of extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of the mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT), 7 cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), and 6 cases of follicular lymphoma (FL). The tumors were most-commonly located in the superficial lobe of the parotid gland (28/31), and three cases involved the deep lobe of the parotid gland (3/31). The overall median survival from the diagnosis of lymphoma was estimated to be 62 months, with 3-year and 5-year survival rates of 83.9% and 77.4%, respectively. A univariate analysis demonstrated statistically significant differences in accelerated tumor growth (P<0.001) and the presence of tumor capsules (P<0.001). A multivariate analysis demonstrated statistically significant differences in the accelerated tumor growth (P=0.029). MALT lymphoma was the most common subtype of primary parotid lymphoma. The prognosis is better than it is with other malignant parotid tumors. The presence of accelerated tumor growth was significantly correlated with overall survival time.

Abstract
A monolithic passively Q-switched Nd:YAG laser under periodic pulse pumping is originally exploited to emulate the response of a single neuron cell stimulated by periodic pulse inputs. Experimental results reveal that the output characteristics of the monolithic passively Q-switched laser can analogously manifest not only the firing patterns but also the frequency-locked plateaus of the single neuron cell. Moreover, the sine circle map is innovatively used to generate the output pulse sequences that can exactly correspond to experimental firing patterns. The present exploration indicates that a monolithic passively Q-switched solid-state laser is highly feasible to be developed as a compact artificial neuron cell.

Abstract
The frequency degeneracy induced by the astigmatism in a nearly hemispherical cavity is originally exploited to generate vortex array laser modes with the output power up to 300 mW. The inhomogeneous Helmholtz equation is employed to derive the wave function for manifesting the characteristics of the lasing modes. The theoretical wave function explicitly reveals the role of the Gouy phase in the formation of vortex arrays. Numerical analyses are further performed to confirm that the thermal lensing effect in the laser crystal assists the lasing transverse order to increase with increasing pump power. It is believed that the high efficiency enables the present laser modes to be useful in the applications of structured vortex beams.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis of patients with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) . Methods: 83 patients with TTP from May 1998 to May 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Among the 83 patients, there were 27 males and 56 females, with a median age of 39 (10-68) years. 41 cases (49.4%) showed pentalogy syndrome and 79 cases (95.2%) showed triad syndrome. 78.0% (46/59) of the patients had a PLASMIC score of 6 or higher. TTP gene mutations was detected in 5 of 10 patients. The activity of von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease (ADAMTS13) , which was detected in 10 patients before plasma exchange (PEX) , was less than 10% in 9 patients. 83 patients were treated with PEX/plasma infusion and glucocorticoid, 35 of which were treated combined with rituximab and/or immunosuppressant. The median follow-up was 34 (1-167) months, the effective rate was 81.9%, the remission rate was 63.9%, the relapse rate was (35.7 ±7.1) %, and the 3-year overall survival (OS) rate was (78.6 ±4.6) %. The effective rate (72.9%vs 94.3%, P=0.019) and OS rate[ (63.8±7.5) %vs (94.3±3.9) %, χ(2)=8.450, P=0.004] in the group treated with PEX/PI and glucocorticoid alone were lower than those in the group treated combined with rituximab and/or immunosuppressant. COX multivariate analysis showed that age (HR=1.111, 95%CI 1.044-1.184, P=0.001) and alanine transaminase (ALT) /aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (HR=1.353, 95%CI 1.072-1.708, P=0.011) were independent risk factors for OS. Conclusion: Most patients with TTP have triad syndrome, accompanied by a decrease in ADAMTS13 activity. Plasma infusion and glucocorticoid combined with rituximab, immunosuppressive therapy could improve overall survival. The prognosis of patients with older age and high ALT/AST ratio is poor.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In late December 2019, an outbreak of acute respiratory illness, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), emerged in Wuhan, China. We aimed to study the epidemiology, clinical features and short-term outcomes of patients with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China. METHODS We performed a single center, retrospective case series study in 221 patients with laboratory confirmed SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia at a university hospital, including 55 severe patients and 166 non-severe patients, from January 2, 2020 to February 10, 2020. RESULTS Of the 221 patients with COVID-19, the median age was 55.0 years and 48.9% were male and only 8 (3.6%) patients had a history of exposure to the Huanan Seafood Market. Compared to the non-severe pneumonia patients, the median age of the severe patients was significantly older, and they were more likely to have chronic comorbidities. Most common symptoms in severe patients were high fever, anorexia and dyspnea. On admission, 33.0% patients showed leukopenia and 73.8% showed lymphopenia. In addition, the severe patients suffered a higher rate of co-infections with bacteria or fungus and they were more likely to developing complications. As of February 15, 2020, 19.0% patients had been discharged and 5.4% patients died. 80% of severe cases received ICU (intensive care unit) care, and 52.3% of them transferred to the general wards due to relieved symptoms, and the mortality rate of severe patients in ICU was 20.5%. CONCLUSIONS Patients with elder age, chronic comorbidities, blood leukocyte/lymphocyte count, procalcitonin level, co-infection and severe complications might increase the risk of poor clinical outcomes.

Abstract
Background Shen-ling-bai-zhu-san (SLBZS) regulates inflammation and gut microbiota which are associated with Streptococcus pneumoniae (Spn)-induced pneumonia. So, we studied the therapeutic effect of SLBZS and evaluated whether gut microbiota is associated with the effects of SLBZS in improving Spn-induced pneumonia. Methods Spn-induced pneumonia NIH mice were treated by SLBZS and cefixime. A CT scan was performed and Myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity in lung homogenates was determined using the MPO Colorimetric Assay Kit. Inflammation levels in lung homogenates were measured using ELISA. Bacterial load was coated on a TSAII sheep blood agar. Intestinal gut microbiota information was analyzed according to sequencing libraries. Results SLBZS decreased bacterial load, reduced wet/dry weight ratio, inhibited myeloperoxidase activity, reduced the neutrophils count, and ameliorated lung injury. Furthermore, SLBZS inhibited interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α, IL-2, IL-8, IL-12, and interferon-γ secretion and enhanced IL-10 secretion. These results suggest that SLBZS ameliorates lung injury in mice with Spn-induced pneumonia. Moreover, SLBZS reduced inflammatory cytokine levels in a concentration-dependent manner and increased gut microbiota abundance and diversity. After SLBZS treatment, bacteria such as Epsilonbacteraeota, Bacteroidetes, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, and Patescibacteria were significantly reduced, while Tenericutes and Firmicutes were significantly increased. Conclusion SLBZS ameliorates inflammation, lung injury, and gut microbiota in mice with S. pneumoniae-induced pneumonia.

Abstract
Background Local recurrence is the main cause of death among patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). This study assessed near-infrared fluorescence (NIF) imaging and spectroscopy to monitor surgical margins intraoperatively for OSCC. Methods Cytological and animal experiments were first performed to confirm the feasibility of monitoring surgical margins with NIF imaging and spectroscopy. Then, 20 patients with OSCC were included in the clinical trials. At 6–8 h after 0.75 mg/kg indocyanine green (ICG) injection, all patients underwent surgery with NIF imaging. During the surgery, both NIF images and quantified fluorescence intensity were acquired to monitor the surgical margins. Results In cytological and animal experiments, the results showed it was feasible to monitor surgical margins with NIF imaging and spectroscopy. Fluorescence was detected in primary tumors in all patients. The fluorescence intensities of the tumor, peritumoral, and normal tissues were 398.863 ± 151.47, 278.52 ± 84.89, and 274.5 ± 100.93 arbitrary units (AUs), respectively (P < 0.05). The SBR of tumor to peritumoral tissue and normal tissues was computed to be 1.45 ± 0.36 and 1.56 ± 0.41, respectively. After primary tumor excision, the wounds showed abnormal fluorescence in four patients (4/20), and residual cancer cells were confirmed by pathological examination in two patients (2/20). Conclusion These findings confirmed the complementary value of NIF imaging during radical tumor resection of OSCC. Before tumor resection, we could utilize the fluorescence margin produced by ICG NIF imaging to determine the surgical margin. Moreover, after tumor blocks were removed, the status of surgical margin could also be evaluated rapidly by ICG NIF imaging of tumor bed and in vitro specimens.

Abstract
The coupling resonance between pumping and firing rates is originally proposed to achieve the timing jitter reduction of a Nd:YVO4 laser passively Q-switched with a saturable absorber. When the pumping rate is higher than the spontaneous emission rate, it is experimentally confirmed that the pulse firing rate can be fractionally locked with the pumping rate by controlling the pump power. The locking characteristics of the firing rate display a variety of complex plateaus that can be excellently manifested with the sine-circle map. From numerical analyses, the coupling strength can be verified to be effectively enhanced by reducing the duty cycle of the pumping rate.

Abstract
The criterion for optimizing the high-power acousto-optically ${Q}$Q-switched self-Raman yellow laser is originally explored for the repetition rate within 100-500 kHz. The minimum allowed value for the gate-open time is experimentally verified to be determined by the pulse buildup time. By using the minimum allowed gate-open time, the highest conversion efficiency can be achieved to raise the output power by approximately 20% in comparison with the conventional results. At a repetition rate of 200 kHz, the maximum output power at 588 nm can be up to 8.8 W at an incident pump power of 26 W. Furthermore, a practical formula is developed to accurately calculate the threshold pump power as a function of the gate-open time for a given repetition rate.

Abstract
A novel, to the best of our knowledge, approach is developed to realize a high-power compact efficient yellow-lime-green triple-color ${\rm Nd}:{{\rm YVO}_4}$Nd:YVO4 self-Raman laser. The 588 nm yellow laser, the 559 nm lime laser, and the 532 nm green laser are converted from the 1064 nm fundamental wave and the 1176 nm Stokes Raman field. The simultaneous three-color operation is accomplished with three stages to step-by-step generate the 588 nm, 559 nm, and 532 nm lasers by using three different lithium triborate (LBO) crystals. By tuning the temperature of each individual LBO crystal, the 588 nm, 559 nm, and 532 nm output powers can be nearly the same and concurrently up to 2.4 W at the incident pump power of 30 W, corresponding to a conversion efficiency of 24% for the total output power.

Abstract
The integral representation of the Zernike radial functions is well approximated by applying the Riemann sums with a surprisingly rapid convergence. The errors of the Riemann sums are found to averagely be not exceed 3 ×10-14, 3.3×10-14, and 1.8×10-13 for the radial order up to 30, 50, and 100, respectively. Moreover, a parallel algorithm based on the Riemann sums is proposed to directly generate a set of radial functions. With the aid of the graphics processing units (GPUs), the algorithm shows an acceleration ratio up to 200-fold over the traditional CPU computation. The fast generation for a set of Zernike radial polynomials is expected to be valuable in further applications, such as the aberration analysis and the pattern recognition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent primary liver cancer associated with a high mortality. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have recently emerged as regulators in the development and progression of several cancers, and therefore represent an opportunity to uncover new targets for therapy. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the potential effect of lncRNA BZRAP1-AS1 on the angiogenesis of HCC. METHODS Microarray-based data analysis was initially employed to screen genes and lncRNAs that are differentially expressed in HCC and the candidate BZRAP1-AS1 was identified as a hit. The expression of BZRAP1-AS1 and thrombospondin-1 (THBS1) in HCC tissues and cells were then determined using RT-qPCR. The gene methylation level was measured by methylation-specific PCR (MSP) and bisulfite sequencing PCR (BSP) assays. Next, the interactions between BZRAP1-AS1, DNA methyltransferase 3B (DNMT3b), and THBS1 were assessed by RIP, RNA pull-down and ChIP assays. Finally, the roles of BZRAP1-AS1, DNMT3b and THBS1 in angiogenesis in vitro as well as tumorigenesis in vivo were evaluated by a battery of the gain- and loss-of function experiments. RESULTS BZRAP1-AS1 was identified as a highly expressed lncRNA in HCC tissues and cells. Down-regulation of BZRAP1-AS1 in HCC cells inhibited HUVEC proliferation, migration and angiogenesis. By interacting with DNMT3b, BZRAP1-AS1 induced methylation of the THBS1 promoter and inhibited the transcription of THBS1, resulting in promoted angiogenesis of HUVECs. Moreover, silencing of BZRAP1-AS1 repressed the angiogenesis as well as the tumor growth of HCC in vivo via up-regulating THBS1. CONCLUSION This study provides evidence that angiogenesis in HCC is hindered by silencing of BZRAP1-AS1. Thus, BZRAP1-AS1 may be a promising marker for the treatment of HCC.

Abstract
The transverse structures of geometric modes in degenerate laser resonators with large astigmatism are systematically investigated by starting from the Gaussian wave packet formulation with ray-wave connections. The overlapping degree D between Gaussian wave packets is derived as an analytic expression that manifests the critical overlapping with D=1. The transverse patterns are confirmed to display a structure of continuous curves or dotted spots, depending on D>1 or D<1, respectively. A thorough comparison between experimental results and numerical calculations is performed to validate the theoretical analysis.

Abstract
Mammary analogue secretory carcinoma (MASC) is a recently described salivary gland tumour notable for a balanced chromosomal translocation t(12;15)(p13;q25) that contributes to ETV6 gene rearrangements. It was first reported in 2010 by Skalova et al. with histological features resembling secretory carcinoma of the breast and was acknowledged and referred to as "secretory carcinoma" in the updated 2017 WHO classification. It is reported that MASC accounts for <0.3% of all salivary gland tumours, with a finite number of published reports on it. MASC has a range of histological features and clinical behaviours. The histopathological diagnosis of MASC can be difficult with current immunohistochemical methods. One case was located in the left palate, and 1 case was located in the soft palate. The maximum diameter of the tumour was 1.4~3.7 cm. CT demonstrated a mass that had not invaded into the palate bone, and the patients underwent palate neoplasm expanded ectomy without neck dissection or postoperative radiation therapy. Histopathological examination revealed that the tumour cells consisted of a mixed arrangement of microcystic, papillary-cystic, follicular, and solid lobular growth patterns. Eosinophilic cytoplasm and intraluminal or intracytoplasmic colloid-like secretions were observed. The final pathology confirmed the diagnosis of MASC with immunohistochemically neoplastic cells staining positive for S-100 and mammaglobin. The patients were asymptomatic at their 12-month follow up. More studies are needed to identify the typical behaviour of this tumour and establish the standard treatment regimen. This study aims to reinforce the awareness of this tumour by analysing its clinicopathologic features, immunophenotype, and diagnosis.

Abstract
We investigate in the experiments the ionization-induced adiabatic soliton compression process in a short length of He-filled single-ring photonic crystal fiber. We observe that the plasma-driven blueshifting solitons show little residual light near the pump wavelength in a certain pulse energy region, leading to a high-efficiency frequency upconversion process. In contrast, at high pulse energy levels, we observe that the quality of the frequency upshifting process is impaired due to the existence of a dynamical loss channel induced by the coupling of the soliton to linear modes near the pump wavelength. In addition, through adjusting the input pulse energy, the central wavelength of blueshifting solitons can be continuously tuned over 300 nm. These experimental results, confirmed by numerical simulations, not only offer a deep insight into ionization-induced soliton-plasma dynamics in gas-filled hollow-core photonic crystal fibers, but also develop highly tunable ultrafast light sources at visible wavelengths, which may have many applications in ultrafast spectroscopy.

Abstract
The parametric equations for periodic rays in degenerate astigmatic laser resonators are derived in a generalized way. The derived parametric equations clearly reveal the formation of Lissajous geometric modes with phase variation along the propagation. Using the representation of a quantum coherent state, a generalized wave-packet formula is derived to connect with the periodic rays of geometric modes. The derived wave-packet formula is not only validated through comparing with various experimental patterns, but also is directly exploited to manifest the spatial asymmetries of Lissajous lasing modes due to a highly transmissive output coupler.

Abstract
Near-ultraviolet micro-LEDs with different diameters were fabricated on GaN substrates. The electroluminescence and the light output power-current density and current density-voltage relationships were measured. A saturated current density of 358 kA/cm2 was achieved with a 20 µm LED. The ideality factor curves showed steps and peaks when the injection current density was increased from 20 to 150 kA/cm2 and an abnormal efficiency increase. The transport and recombination processes of micro-LEDs at high injection current densities were simulated, and the many-body effect and phase space filling in the integrated quantum drift-diffusion model were considered. Serious current crowding was observed above 100 kA/cm2, even for the 20 µm LED.
