Abstract
Islet-like clusters derived from human embryonic stem cells (hESC) hold the potential to cure type 1 diabetes mellitus. Differentiation protocols of islet-like clusters lead to the generation of minor fractions of nonendocrine cells, which are mainly from endodermal and mesodermal lineages, and the risk of implanting these is unclear. In the present study, the histogenesis and the tumorigenicity of nonendocrine cells were investigated in vivo. Immunodeficient mice were implanted under the kidney capsule with islet-like clusters which were derived from differentiation of cells batches with either an intermediate or poor cell purity and followed for 8 or 26 weeks. Using immunohistochemistry and other techniques, it was found that the intermediate differentiated cell implants had limited numbers of small duct-like cysts and nonpancreatic tissue resembling gastrointestinal and retinal pigmented epithelium. In contrast, highly proliferative cystic teratomas were found at a high incidence at the implant site after 8 weeks, only in the animals implanted with the poorly differentiated cells. These findings indicate that the risk for teratoma formation and the amount of nonpancreatic tissue can be minimized by careful in-process characterization of the cells and thus highlights the importance of high purity at transplantation and a thorough ex-vivo characterization during cell product development.

Abstract
Understanding the molecular events that regulate cell pluripotency versus acquisition of differentiated somatic cell fate is fundamentally important. Studies in Caenorhabditis elegans demonstrate that knockout of the germline-specific translation repressor gld-1 causes germ cells within tumorous gonads to form germline-derived teratoma. Previously we demonstrated that endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress enhances this phenotype to suppress germline tumor progression(Levi-Ferber et al., 2015). Here, we identify a neuronal circuit that non-autonomously suppresses germline differentiation and show that it communicates with the gonad via the neurotransmitter serotonin to limit somatic differentiation of the tumorous germline. ER stress controls this circuit through regulated inositol requiring enzyme-1 (IRE-1)-dependent mRNA decay of transcripts encoding the neuropeptide FLP-6. Depletion of FLP-6 disrupts the circuit’s integrity and hence its ability to prevent somatic-fate acquisition by germline tumor cells. Our findings reveal mechanistically how ER stress enhances ectopic germline differentiation and demonstrate that regulated Ire1-dependent decay can affect animal physiology by controlling a specific neuronal circuit.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION A standard protocol for testis-sparing surgery for pediatric benign testicular tumors has not been established to date. CASE REPORT We treated 7 teratomas in 6 patients aged 12 years of younger. For 2 noncystic lesions, the spermatic cord was exposed via the transinguinal approach and clamped until the establishment of an intraoperative pathological diagnosis. The other 5 tumors in 4 infant patients were all preoperatively diagnosed with cystic teratoma, and we essentially exposed the testis directly via the scrotal approach and enucleated the tumor without clamping the cord. In every case, adequate amount of normal testicular tissue was preserved, without any local recurrence with 3-year minimum follow-up. CONCLUSIONS An unclamped enucleation of testicular tumor via the transscrotal approach, which is contraindicated in most testicular tumors, can be a treatment choice exclusively for preoperatively diagnosed mature cystic teratoma in infants.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinicopathological features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of patients with primary ovarian carcinoid tumours arising in mature cystic teratomas. METHODS This retrospective case series analysed the data from patients with primary ovarian carcinoid tumours arising in mature cystic teratomas. RESULTS The study enrolled four patients. Histopathological analysis of the tumours identified the following subtypes: insular (n = 1), trabecular (n = 1) and strumal (n = 2). All four primary ovarian carcinoid tumours originated from a mature teratoma. The morphology of the primary ovarian carcinoids was similar to other neuroendocrine tumours. Strumal carcinoids were composed of different proportions of thyroid tissue intimately admixed with carcinoid tumour. Tumour tissue was arranged in insular and/or trabecular patterns. The nucleus of tumour cells displayed exquisite chromatin without obvious mitotic figures. Tumour tissues were positively stained for neuroendocrine markers chromogranin A, synaptophysin and CD56 to varying degrees. Strumal carcinoid tumours were cytokeratin 19 positive and thyroid transcription factor 1 negative. No recurrence or metastasis occurred during follow-up (12-71 months). CONCLUSION Primary ovarian carcinoid tumours arising in mature cystic teratomas are rare. Diagnosis and differential diagnosis should be confirmed by clinical features, histopathological characteristics and specific immunophenotyping.

Abstract
A mature teratoma is a germinal neoplasm that differentiates from embryonic multipotent cells into three germ layers. There may also be glandular tissue. The literature describes a total of 658 cases of ovarian neuroendocrine neoplasms, mainly in women over 40 years of age. The authors, together with a systemic review, present a case of a 16-year-old girl diagnosed with and treated for a neuroendocrine tumor. Case description: A 16-year-old girl visited the Paediatric Gynaecology Outpatient Clinic because of abdominal pains that intensified during menstruation. Standard painkillers and diastolic drugs were ineffective. An ultrasound examination revealed a large tumor with a heterogeneous structure in her right ovary. A sparing operation was carried out. During laparotomy, the lesion was enucleated, leaving healthy tissue. Histopathological examination revealed the typical features of teratoma, as well as the coexistence of a G1 neuroendocrine tumor. Immunohistochemical examination (IHC) showed the presence of markers characteristic for this type of tumor. The patient requires constant monitoring in the Endocrinology and Oncological Gynaecology Clinic. Conclusion: Tissue of neuroendocrine neoplasm within a teratoma is rare in this age group of patients; thus, there are currently no standards for long-term follow-up. This case adds to the body of evidence and demonstrates a possible good prognosis with non-aggressive behavior in G1 neuroendocrine tumors and teratomas in young patients.

Abstract
PAX7 transcription factor plays a crucial role in embryonic myogenesis and in adult muscles in which it secures proper function of satellite cells, including regulation of their self renewal. PAX7 downregulation is necessary for the myogenic differentiation of satellite cells induced after muscle damage, what is prerequisite step for regeneration. Using differentiating pluripotent stem cells we documented that the absence of functional PAX7 facilitates proliferation. Such action is executed by the modulation of the expression of two proteins involved in the DNA methylation, i.e., Dnmt3b and Apobec2. Increase in Dnmt3b expression led to the downregulation of the CDK inhibitors and facilitated cell cycle progression. Changes in Apobec2 expression, on the other hand, differently impacted proliferation/differentiation balance, depending on the experimental model used.

Abstract
Teratomas are benign tumours containing tissues derived from ectoderm, endoderm and mesoderm Epignathus is a rare congenital teratoma and originates from oropharyngeal region. We present a case of giant epignathus arising from tonsillar region in a neonate. A male neonate that was born with a 38-week cesarean section presented with a pedunculated mass from left tonsilla palatina and protruding outside the mouth. The patient did not have any airway problem. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography scan showed no intracranial extension. The patient was operated on the postpartum 3rd day and the mass was excised successfully. After histopathological examination, mature teratoma was diagnosed. During post-operative 6 months control visit, there was no recurrence. Epignathus is a rare congenital oropharyngeal teratoma, it should be diagnosed in the fetus as early as possible. Teratomas of the tonsilla palatina are extremely rare. In such cases, the mass may cause airway obstruction and feeding difficulties so complete resection is curative in most cases during the early neonatal period.

Abstract
Collision tumor consists of two tumors occurring in the same organ without intermixture of the two cell types. The most common type of collision tumor in ovary is between teratoma and surface epithelial tumor. A 38-year-old woman presented with complained of lower abdominal pain and tightness, and a solid partially cystic left ovarian mass with minimal ascites was detected. Left salpingo-oophorectomy was performed. The ovarian mass measured 15 × 12 × 7 cm with a pedunculated mass on its surface which measured 6 × 2.5 × 2.5 cm. Histologically, it was a collision tumor of fibroma and mature cystic teratoma. Fibroma becomes more edematous as their size increases, which is frequently accompanied by the escape of increasing quantities of fluid from the tumor surfaces. Ascites is often detected when the fibroma is more than a diameter of 10 cm. It is important to identify the different components of a collision tumor for proper management.

Abstract
PURPOSE Presence of teratoma in the orchiectomy and residual retroperitoneal mass size are known predictors of finding teratoma during postchemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (PC-RPLND). We sought to determine if the percentage of teratoma in the orchiectomy specimen could better stratify the risk of teratoma in the retroperitoneum. MATERIALS AND METHODS The Indiana University Testis Cancer Database was reviewed to identify patients who underwent PC-RPLND for nonseminomatous germ cell tumors from 2010 to 2018. A logistic regression model was fit to predict the presence of retroperitoneal teratoma using teratoma and yolk sac tumor in the orchiectomy, residual mass size and log transformed values of prechemotherapy alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and beta-human chorionic gonadotropin. The study cohort was split into 60% training and 40% validation sets using 200 bootstraps. A predictive nomogram was developed for predicting teratoma in the retroperitoneum. RESULTS A total of 422 men were included. Presence of teratoma in the orchiectomy (OR 1.02, p <0.001), residual mass size (OR 1.16, p <0.001) and log transformed prechemotherapy AFP (OR 1.12, p=0.002) were predictive factors for having teratoma in the retroperitoneum. The C-statistic using this model demonstrated a predictive ability of 0.77. Training set C-statistic was 0.78 compared to 0.75 for the validation set. A nomogram was developed to aid in clinical utility. CONCLUSIONS The model better predicts patients at higher risk for teratoma in the retroperitoneum following chemotherapy, which can aid in a more informed referral for surgical resection.

Abstract
The genomic profile of animal models is not completely matched with the genomic profile of humans, and 2D cultures do not represent the cellular heterogeneity and tissue architecture found in tissues of their origin. Derived from 3D culture systems, organoids establish a crucial bridge between 2D cell cultures and in vivo animal models. Organoids have wide and promising applications in developmental research, disease modeling, drug screening, precision therapy, and regenerative medicine. However, current organoids represent only single or partial components of a tissue, which lack blood vessels, native microenvironment, communication with near tissues, and a continuous dorsal-ventral axis within 3D culture systems. Although efforts have been made to solve these problems, unfortunately, there is no ideal method. Teratoma, which has been frequently studied in pathological conditions, was recently discovered as a new in vivo model for developmental studies. In contrast to organoids, teratomas have vascularized 3D structures and regions of complex tissue-like organization. Studies have demonstrated that teratomas can be used to mimic multilineage human development, enrich specific somatic progenitor/stem cells, and even generate brain organoids. These results provide unique opportunities to promote our understanding of the vascularization and maturation of organoids. In this review, we first summarize the basic characteristics, applications, and limitations of both organoids and teratomas and further discuss the possibility that in vivo teratoma systems can be used to promote the vascularization and maturation of organoids within an in vitro 3D culture system.

Abstract
RATIONALE Teratomas are solid tumors that may occur in both gonadal and extragonadal locations, depending on the age of the child. Benign cystic teratomas are relatively common tumors among women of reproductive age, but they can occur at any age. The clinical presentation is not specific. They can be found incidentally when patients are investigated for other conditions or they can present as emergencies when the ovarian teratoma is torsioned or ruptured. PATIENT CONCERNS We present the case of a 17-year-old adolescent girl that was seen in our emergency department on several occasions for recurrent episodes of abdominal pain ongoing for 6 months. DIAGNOSIS An ultrasonography (US) was performed as an outpatient and a left ovarian mass was found along with right ureterohydronephrosis (UHN). Further assessment of the mass was done by abdominal and pelvic CT and tumoral markers. CT appearance was more suggestive of a teratoma. INTERVENTIONS She underwent laparotomy with complete excision of the tumor. OUTCOME The patient had an uneventful recovery. A renal US follow up showed reduction of the dilatation, demonstrating that the condition was secondary to tumor compression. LESSONS In a teenager with nonspecific symptoms, a high suspicion index for tumors is mandatory. An early diagnosis and management avoid complications like UHN.

Abstract
A 26-year-old, male eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus) was presented to its primary care veterinarian for a 10-day history of increased respiratory effort, lethargy, and a single episode of regurgitation. Hepatomegaly, proventricular enlargement, cranial displacement of the ventriculus, and coelomic effusion were suspected based on a 1-view radiographic image, and the patient was referred for further evaluation. On presentation to the referral veterinary hospital, a distended coelom and dyspnea with abnormal respiratory sounds were abnormalities noted upon physical examination of the patient. The bird was hospitalized for supportive care, and diagnostic tests were performed. Initial radiographic images at the referral hospital revealed a large intracoelomic mass. A computed tomographic scan was performed; however, the origin of the mass could not be determined. A fine-needle aspirate and cytologic evaluation of the intracoelomic mass revealed a neoplastic process but no specific tissue type. Two days after presentation to the referral hospital, an exploratory coeliotomy to surgically resect the mass was attempted. The mass occupied most of the coelomic cavity, with multiple adhesions to internal organs. The mass was successfully resected; however, the patient destabilized and died despite resuscitation efforts. Histopathologic examination of submitted tissue from the mass with immunohistochemistry revealed mixed populations of neoplastic cells differentiated from 3 primordial germinal layers, confirming the diagnosis of teratoma. Teratomas appear to be a rare tumor in avian species but should be included in a list of differential disease diagnoses for abnormal tissue masses of unknown origin. Only 2 cases of teratomas have, to our knowledge, been reported in psittacine species.

Abstract
Benign mediastinal teratomas often discovered while patients are still asymptomatic. Almost all arise in the anterosuperior mediastinal compartment. Most symptoms result from compression of adjacent structures. We report a case of a large teratoma arising from the anterior mediastinum that presented a confusing clinical picture of loculated pleural effusion which was successfully diagnosed and treated by surgical excision.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the histologic findings and clinical outcomes of post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for advanced germ cell tumor. METHODS We analyzed the medical records of 66 patients who underwent post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection between 2005 and 2019 at Tsukuba University Hospital. RESULTS The proportions of necrosis, teratoma, and viable germ cell tumor in the specimens were 62.1%, 36.4%, and 1.5%, respectively. The 5-year progression-free and overall survival rates were 82.3% and 91.3%, respectively. The 5-year overall survival rate of patients with residual teratoma was significantly worse than that of patients with necrosis only (74.1% vs 100%). Overall, three patients died: one from cancer and two from teratoma with somatic-type malignancy. Of these, two patients relapsed after incomplete resection of residual teratoma. When limited to patients with completely resected teratoma, the 5-year overall survival rate was 91.7%, which did not differ from that for patients with necrosis only. Multivariate analysis showed that presence of teratoma in the primary site and decrease in retroperitoneal lymph node mass to less than 50% of the initial tumor size were independent factors for residual teratoma. However, the absence of these factors could not reliably predict necrosis only in retroperitoneal lymph node dissection specimens. CONCLUSIONS In our series, 98% of post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection pathology was either necrosis or teratoma, with viable germ cell tumor only found in 2% of patients. Residual teratoma was associated with poorer prognosis, especially in cases of incomplete resection.

Abstract
Genetic editing of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells represents a promising avenue for an HIV cure. However, certain challenges remain before bringing this approach to the clinic. Among them, in vivo engraftment of cells genetically edited in vitro needs to be achieved. In this study, CD34+ cells derived in vitro from iPS cells genetically modified to carry the CCR5Δ32 mutant alleles did not engraft in humanized immunodeficient mice. However, the CD34+ cells isolated from teratomas generated in vivo from these genetically edited iPS cells engrafted in all experiments. These CD34+ cells also gave rise to peripheral blood mononuclear cells in the mice that, when inoculated with HIV in cell culture, were resistant to HIV R5-tropic isolates. This study indicates that teratomas can provide an environment that can help evaluate the engraftment potential of CD34+ cells derived from the genetically modified iPS cells in vitro. The results further confirm the possibility of using genetically engineered iPS cells to derive engraftable hematopoietic stem cells resistant to HIV as an approach toward an HIV cure.

Abstract
Teratoma is a rare germ cell testicular cancer composed of cells that are not normally present in the site where it originates. These tumors are rarely described in horses, where they may develop due to cryptorchidism. Teratomas consist of cells originating from different germinal layers, arising from germinal multi-potential cells with differentiation defects, and can simultaneously contain several tissues from two or more embryonic layers. Testicular teratomas are described in horses, cats, dogs, wild boars, bulls, and humans. In the rare descriptions found in literature of testicular teratoma in stallions, they occur frequently in cryptorchid testicles, as a consequence of congenital neoplasm. To our knowledge there is no other report of a dentigerous equine teratoma in a stallion. We describe here a successful laparoscopic removal of a testicular teratoma and its clinic-pathological features.

Abstract
Mature teratomas are usually benign tumors that rarely undergo malignant transformation. We report an advanced neuroblastoma arising in a mature teratoma of the ovary. Whole-exome sequencing identified extensive copy-neutral loss of heterozygosity (LOH) in both neuroblastoma and teratoma elements, suggesting that the neuroblastoma evolved from the teratoma. In addition, several truncating germline heterozygous variants in tumor suppressor genes, including RBL2 and FBXW12, became homozygous as a result of LOH. Collectively, we speculate that extensive LOH in teratoma cells may force heterozygous germline variants to become homozygous, which, in turn, may contribute to the development of neuroblastoma with the acquisition of additional chromosomal changes.

Abstract
Teratoma is a type of germ cell tumor that originates from totipotential germ cells that are present in gonads, which can differentiate into any of the cell types found in adult tissues. Ovarian teratomas are usually mature cystic teratomas (OMCTs, also known as dermoid cysts). Chromosome studies in OMCTs show that the chromosomes are uniformly homozygous with karyotype of 46, XX, indicating that they may be parthenogenic tumors that arise from a single ovum after thefirst meiotic division. However, the tissues in OMCTs have been known to be morphologically and immunophenotypically identical to the orthotopic tissues. Currently, expression profiles of tissue components in OMCTs are not known. To identify whether OMCT tissues are expressionally similar to or different from the orthotopic tissues, we adopted single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq), and analyzed transcriptomes of individual cells in heterogenous tissues of two OMCTs. We found that transcriptome profiles of the OMCTs at single cell level were not significantly different from those of normal cells in orthotopic locations. The present data suggest that parthenogeneticlly altered OMCTs may not alter expression profiles of inrivirual tissue components in OMCTs.

Abstract
Multiple myeloma (MM) is a type of malignant disease that is characterized by a clonal proliferation of plasma cells within the bone marrow. Relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) is a subtype of MM that is unreactive to salvage therapy and progresses during treatment or within 60 days of the last therapy in patients who achieved a minimal response before progression of disease. This usually results in a poor prognosis. Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) occurs when MM occasionally develops in tissues other than bones marrow. To the best of our knowledge, case studies of the presence of EMPs in the spleen have rarely been reported. Teratoma is a type of congenital tumor that consists of tissue that arises from pluripotent embryonic cells. Here we report a case of refractory immunoglobulin G (IgG) MM with both splenic plasmacytomas and a suspicious teratoma. To investigate the clinical and treatment features of patients under similar conditions, we also reviewed the available literature supporting the useful information in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of RRMM with EMP.

Abstract
Although the incidence of malignant sacrococcygeal germ cell tumors (MSGCTs) is high in the East Asian countries, information about MSGCTs from this region is limited. This report aimed to analyze the data of children with MSGCTs in a single medical center in Taiwan.Patients aged 18 years or younger with primary MSGCTs or malignant recurrence of a sacrococcygeal teratoma who underwent surgery during the neonatal period between January 1999 and December 2016 were identified from the Linkou Chang Gung Cancer Center registry. The clinical features, laboratory data, and treatment outcomes were reviewed.Fifteen children (1 man and 15 women) with MSGCTs were identified. Sacrococcygeal tumors were present at birth in 7 patients. All patients presented with a bulging mass at the buttock region and they had normal alpha-fetoprotein levels at the time of diagnosis. They underwent primary excision of the tumor. Immature teratoma was histologically diagnosed in 5 neonates, and mature teratoma in 2. Only 1 patient with grade 3 immature teratoma received adjuvant chemotherapy. Two patients with mature teratoma developed malignant recurrence 1.6 and 2.1 years later, respectively. Eight patients were diagnosed with MSGCTs after the neonatal period. The common presenting symptoms included buttock asymmetry (37.5%), abdominal distension (25%), and constipation (12.5%). Seven patients had elevated alpha-fetoprotein levels for their age. They were administered neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by tumor excision if a residual tumor was present. The histology of the excised tumor included mature teratoma (66.7%) and necrosis (33.3%). One patient with a normal alpha-fetoprotein level underwent primary tumor excision followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. Grade 2 immature teratoma with embryonal carcinoma was diagnosed histologically. Among the 15 patients with MSGCTs, 3 had a recurrence (at age of 2.1, 0.5, and 2.4 years, respectively) and 1 died (at age of 6.1 years) of disease progression. The 5-year overall and event-free survival rates were 90% and 80%, respectively.Children with MSGCTs had good overall prognoses in this case series. For those with sacrococcygeal mature teratoma or low-grade immature teratoma in the neonatal period, we recommend close follow-up for at least 3 years after surgery to detect malignant recurrence.

Abstract
Growing teratoma syndrome (GTS) is documented in literature to be a rare complication of non-seminomatous germ cell tumors that arises following chemotherapeutic treatment. Though represented through multiple case reports, the condition is rare that it evades observation and diagnosis, leading to complications secondary to metastasis and unchecked growth. GTS is identified via incidental finding on imaging (e.g. CT) or due to complications involving mass obstruction. Due to the potential severity of undiagnosed malignancy, it is important to effectively diagnose GTS in those presenting with non-specific symptoms and a history of testicular/ovarian cancer. It is also necessary to develop a method on how to monitor those considered to be at increased risk for developing such a condition. Here, we present a case of a middle-aged male who presented with complaints of a left lower quadrant abdominal mass and incidental finding of right retroperitoneal lesion, consistent with GTS.

Abstract
Germ cell tumors represent 20-25% of ovarian tumors, and 95% of them are benign. The most frequent type is the mature benign teratoma (dermoid cysts). The proportion of cases in which malignancy occurs is 0.17-2%. Seventy-five percent to 90% of malignancies are squamous cell carcinomas (SCC). We present a case of squamous cell carcinoma originating from a mature cystic teratoma that was diagnosed after intraoperative pathology study in a 64-year-old woman who consulted for an adnexal tumor causing abdominal pain. Laparoscopic surgery was scheduled, describing an enlarged right ovary (13 cm) which was included in the ipsilateral broad ligament and adhered to the posterior aspect of the uterus in its distal third as well as the rectum. It was converted to laparotomy and we performed a hysterectomy + double anexectomy + omentectomy + resection of sigma with end-to-end anastomosis after intraoperative pathological study reported for malignancy compatible with squamous cell carcinoma. It was labeled as FIGO III stage. Chemotherapy was decided as adjuvant therapy with carboplatin + paclitaxel (Carbo-Taxol) scheme. We review the existing literature to provide evidence on a rare pathology with important repercussions for our patients.

Sacro coccygeal teratoma (SCT) is the most common extra gonadal neoplasm in the pre sacral area occurring in neonatal period. They mostly occur in the midline with a female preponderance. They are usually attached to coccyx, They are believed to be arising from totipotent cells that originate from primitive knot (Hensen's node), hence are usually attached to coccyx. Infection in a sacrococcygeal teratoma has been rarely reported. Here is a report of a case of vague gluteal mass in a neonate and challenges in its diagnosis and management.

Abstract
Struma ovarii is a monodermal variant of ovarian teratoma. Thyroid-type carcinoma arising in struma ovarii is rare. The most common type is papillary carcinoma, followed by typical follicular carcinoma. A 75-year-old hypertensive patient consulted for the sensation of a painless pelvic mass that has been progressing for six months. The abdominopelvic ultrasound showed a right lateralized abdominopelvic mass measuring 14x13x8 cm with a solid and cystic double component. The patient underwent a unilateral right adnexectomy. Grossly, the tumor was encapsulated and lobulated. On cut sections, it was solid brown whitish in color and gelatinous. On histological examination, it was formed of follicular structures of variable size filled with a dense colloid. From this goiter a malignant tumor proliferation arose, arranged in sheets, trabeculae and follicular structures, and the tumor cells were cubic or polyhedral moderately atypical with few mitotic figures. There were no papillary-like nuclear features. There was focal capsular and vascular invasion. Immunohistochemical study showed positive immunostaining of tumor cells with TTF1. Postoperative course was uneventful. The exact prognosis of thyroid-type carcinoma arising in struma ovarii is still unclear because of its rarity, inadequate follow-up, and the absence of consensus in diagnosis and treatment.
