Abstract
Abstract
Background
Eosinophilic Myocarditis (EM) is a rare but potentially fatal form of myocardial inflammation, characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the myocardium. Due to its rare occurrence, there has been no descriptive study of EM on the population level.
Purpose
Our study aims to use a large national database to describe the prevalence, associated clinical conditions and hospital outcomes of EM.
Methods
We analyzed the 2016 National Inpatient Sample Database (NIS) for all hospitalizations with a diagnosis of EM. Prevalence and baseline characteristics of EM were described and compared with non-EM admissions, as well as associated clinical conditions.
Results
In 2016, there were 170 admissions with a diagnosis of EM. Among those, White represented the major ethnic group, followed by African American, Asian/Pacific Islander/Native American, and Hispanic (Fig. 1). There was no significant gender predisposition to EM, but EM patients presented at an older age compared with the general population. The prevalence of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Myeloproliferative disorders, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, Arrhythmia, Heart Transplant, Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis, Eosinophilia was significantly higher in EM patients. Also, EM patients had higher mortality. (Table 1)

Abstract
Abstract
Background/Introduction
Essential thrombocytosis (ET) is a rare disease characterized by vasomotor symptom, thrombotic event, and hemorrhage. Due to its rare occurrence, limited data are available to examine the impact of ET on acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Purpose
To evaluate the impact of ET on hospital outcomes of AMI.
Methods
We use the 2016 National Inpatient sample database to identify all the admissions with a principal diagnosis of AMI with or without ET. A matched control group was then generated using propensity score from age, sex, race, location, insurance, income, hospital type, hospital location, Charlsoncat Comorbidity Score. Prevalence, baseline characteristic of AMI patient with or without ET was described and compared. Univariable logistic regression was used to measure mortality and the rate of catheterization.
Results
ET was found in 0.28% (1,814) in total AMI admissions (641,854). Age (69.52 vs 69.70), female percentage (48.04% vs 48.03%) and baseline comorbidities including STEMI (27.49% vs 25.08%), diabetes (33.03% vs 30.51%), heart failure (40.18 vs 45.89%) and chronic kidney disease (22.05% vs 26.28%) was found to be comparable between two groups (p>0.05, table 1). Compared to non ET group, ET is associated with significantly higher hospital mortality (5.74% vs 2.43%, OR 2.44 [1.09–5.48], p=0.03), prolonged length of stay (7.61 vs 4.30 days, p<0.01). Interestingly, ET is also associated with lower utilization of cardiac catheterization (37.46% vs 46.52%, p=0.01).
Essential Thrombocytosis and AMI Parameter AMI with ET Matched control: AMI without ET Odds ratio (95% CI) P value (n=1,814) (n=1,814) Age, years 69.52±0.72 69.70±0.70 p>0.05 Female, % 48.04 48.03 p>0.05 STEMI, % 27.49 25.08 p>0.05 Hypertension, % 81.57 83.08 p>0.05 Diabetes, % 33.03 30.51 p>0.05 Heart failure, % 40.18 45.89 p>0.05 Chronic kidney disease, % 22.05 26.28 p>0.05 Mortality, % 5.74 2.43 2.44 (1.09–5.48) p=0.03 Catheterization, % 37.46 46.52 0.68 (0.51–0.91) P=0.01 Length of stay, days 7.61±0.48 4.30±0.21 P<0.01 Values are reported as mean ± S.E. Categorical variables are represented as frequency.
Conclusion
ET is infrequently observed in patients with AMI. Having ET is associated with higher hospital mortality, longer hospital stay and lower utilization of cardiac catheterization.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the diagnostic performance of a novel circulating single molecule amplification and re-sequencing technology (cSMART) method for noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) of Phenylketonuria (PKU). DESIGN Blinded NIPT analysis of pregnancies at high risk for PKU. SETTING Shanghai Xinhua Hospital and Hunan Jiahui Genetics Hospital, China. POPULATION Couples (n = 33) with a child diagnosed with PKU. METHODS Trio testing for pathogenic PAH mutations was performed by Sanger sequencing. In second pregnancies, invasive prenatal diagnosis (IPD) was used to determine fetal genotypes. NIPT was performed using a PAH gene-specific cSMART assay. Based on the plasma DNA mutation ratio relative to the fetal DNA fraction, fetal genotypes were assigned using a maximum-likelihood algorithm. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Concordance of fetal genotyping results between IPD and NIPT, and the sensitivity and specificity of the NIPT assay. RESULTS Compared with gold standard IPD results, 32 of 33 fetuses (96.97%) were accurately genotyped by NIPT. The sensitivity and specificity of the NIPT assay was 100.00% (95% CI 59.04-100.00%) and 96.15% (95% CI 80.36-99.90%), respectively. CONCLUSIONS The novel cSMART assay demonstrated high accuracy for correctly calling fetal genotypes. We propose that this test has useful clinical utility for the rapid screening of high-risk and low-risk pregnancies with a known history of PKU on one or both sides of the family. TWEETABLE ABSTRACT NIPT of couples at high risk for PKU using a full-coverage cSMART PAH gene test.

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to assess the prevalence and factors associated with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in a representative sample of Chinese urban women. Methods: A total of 29613 Chinese urban women were recruited to this cross-sectional study between February 2014 and March 2016. The prevalence of POP, defined as any stage Ⅱ or higher POP resulting in symptoms, was assessed using questionnaires and physical examinations. Multivariable logistic regression was used to assess factors associated with POP. Results: 2 864 of 29 613 women (9.67%) had POP. The prevalence of POP increased with age ranging from 1.23% (82/6 646) of women aged between 20 and 29 years to 26.11% (727/2 784) for those aged 70 years or older (P<0.000 1). Overweight and obese women were more likely to have POP than normal weight women [AOR=1.56, 95%CI 1.42-1.72 vs AOR=1.74, 95%CI 1.48-2.03]. In the multivariate analysis, the independent risk factors were cough (AOR=1.70, 95%CI 1.44-2.02), constipation (AOR=2.05, 95%CI 1.82-2.32), physical disease (AOR=1.27, 95%CI 1.15-1.41), and gynecological diseases (AOR=2.08, 95%CI 1.89-2.29). Nulliparous (AOR=0.12, 95%CI 0.06-0.22) and caesarean section (CS) (AOR=0.55, 95%CI 0.47-0.64) were protective factors for POP. Conclusions: POP affects nearly 10% of women in Chinese urban region. The prevalence of POP increases significantly with age. The independent risk factors for POP are body mass index, cough, constipation, physical disease and gynecological diseases. Nulliparous and CS are protective factors for POP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this paper is to assess the role of gender on survival rate and causes of death and organ damage in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients in China from 2009 to 2015. METHODS We conducted a multicenter cohort study to analyze the differences in outcome data between male and female SLE patients. A group of 1494 SLE patients who fulfilled the 1997 American College of Rheumatology SLE classification criteria were enrolled in the Chinese Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Treatment and Research Group (CSTAR) registry from April 2009 to February 2010. All enrolled patients were followed up at least once per year from 2009 to 2015. For patients who could not attend the outpatient clinic, follow-up was conducted by telephone interview. We collected demographic data, clinical manifestations and damage scores (System Lupus International Collaborating Clinics/American College of Rheumatology Damage Index (SDI)). Survival rates were evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier method. RESULTS This study included 1352 women and 142 men. The five-year survival rates were 92.0% for men and 97.6% for women. The survival rates of males were significant lower than for females ( p = 0.019). Male patients received methylprednisolone pulse therapy and cyclophosphamide significantly more than female patients ( p = 0.010). During follow-up, 12 male patients and 66 female patients died. The most common cause of death was infection (41.7%) for men and active SLE disease (27.3%) for women. At the end of the study, the major accumulated organ damages included renal (8.5%) and musculoskeletal (7.7%), and nervous system (5.6%) for men and renal (8.8%) and musculoskeletal (6.7%) for women. There were no significant differences in SDI scores between the two groups at baseline and at the end of the study. CONCLUSIONS Male SLE patients had lower survival rates than female patients. Male patients received more methylprednisolone pulse and cyclophosphamide therapy. The most common causes of death were infection for male patients and active SLE disease for female patients. The major accumulated organ damages were renal, musculoskeletal, and nervous system both for male and female SLE patients in China.

Fever relieved in 48 hours and chest imaging improved in one week after BAL were considered effective. Clinical data, including age, sex, blood routine tests, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), cytokines, complications, fever duration before BAL, course of disease before BAL, sputum plug, atelectasis area and its CT values of atelectasis site were collected. Student's t test, Mann-Whitney U test, or chi square test were used. Results: (1) A total of 163 patients were enrolled, including 69 boys and 94 girls, with the ratio of 1∶1.36. Their ages ranged from 6 months to 12.6 years. (2) On the day of bronchoscope, 113 patients still had fever. They were divided into effective group (n=66) and ineffective group (n=47) according to whether fever was relieved in 48 hours after BAL. The effective group were found to have less sputum plug compared with the ineffective group (33% (22/66) vs. 57% (27/47), χ(2)=6.499, P=0.011). The other factors such as sex, age, fever duration before BAL, course of disease before BAL, C reactive protein (CRP), LDH, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, TNF, IFN-γ, atelectasis area and CT value showed no significant difference between the two groups (all P>0.05). (3)A total of 122 cases had chest imaging after BAL. According to chest imaging improvement, they were divided into effective group (n=81) and ineffective group (n=41). The effective group showed lower CT value ((58±9) vs. (63±8) HU, t=-2.436, P=0.017), IL-6 and IL-10 (M(Q(1), Q(3))) (21.0 (1.9, 48.4) vs. 36.4(21.8, 93.6), 4.9 (3.7, 9.6) vs. 7.7 (4.4, 12.0) ng/L, Z=-2.387,-2.009, P=0.017, 0.045). Sex, age, fever duration before BAL, course of disease before BAL, CRP, LDH, IL-2, IL-4, TNF, IFN-γ, atelectasis area showed no significant differences between the two groups (all P>0.05). (4) Patients were divided into sputum plug group (57 cases) and non sputum plug group (106 cases) according to bronchoscopic findings. The sputum plug group showed higher LDH, CRP, IL-6, IFN-γ, incidence of pleural effusion and extrapulmonary complications (585(433, 833) vs. 369 (312, 588) U/L, 42 (19, 103) vs. 25 (12, 45) mg/L, 38.8 (22.1, 71.3) vs. 20.7 (9.2, 48.3) ng/L, 33.1 (13.5, 89.3) vs. 12.7 (6.5, 33.6) ng/L, 73.7% (42/57) vs. 52.8% (56/106), 40.4% (23/57) vs. 17.0% (18/106)), with statistically significant differences (Z=-4.865,-3.435,-3.098,-3.704, χ(2)= 0.010, 0.001, all P<0.01) . Additionally, fewer patients showed fever relief within 48 hours after BAL in the cases with sputum plug cases compared those without sputum plug (44.9% (22/49) vs. 68.8% (44/64), χ(2)= 0.011, P=0.009). Fewer patients showed chest imaging improvement within one week after BAL in the cases with sputum plug compared with those without sputum plug, but did not show significant difference (56.5% (26/46) vs. 72.4% (55/76), χ(2)=0.073, P=0.056). Conclusions: BAL has some therapeutic effect on fever or atelectasis in MPP children complicated with atelectasis. Chest imaging improvement or fever relief may be hampered by sputum plug, increased IL-6 or IL-10.

Abstract
We report simple and compact all-fiber erbium-doped soliton and dispersion-managed soliton femtosecond lasers mode-locked by the MXene Ti3C2Tx. A saturable absorber device fabricated by optical deposition of Ti3C2Tx onto a microfiber exhibits strong saturable absorption properties, with a modulation depth of 11.3%. The oscillator operating in the soliton regime produces 597.8 fs-pulses with 5.21 nm of bandwidth, while the cavity with weak normal dispersion (~0.008 ps2) delivers 104 fs pulses with 42.5 nm of bandwidth. Our results contribute to the growing body of work studying the nonlinear optical properties of MXene that underpin new opportunities for ultrafast photonic technology.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of neck and shoulder pain (NSP) among automobile manufacturing workers and to provide a theoretical basis for prevention of NSP. Methods: From November 5 to November 19, 2017, a total 446 works who had worked for more than one year were recruited from an automobile plant by cluster sampling method. Chi square test and unconditional logistic regression were used to exam the relation between influencing factors and NSP. Results: The annual prevalence rate of NSP was 34.8%. Multifactor regression analysis showed that age、work fatigue、department staff shortages、lifting heavy objects in awkward positions、neck flexion foreword and prolong sitting position work were the risk factors of NSP (OR=2.18, 95%CI:1.49~3.18; OR=4.52, 95%CI:1.27~16.00; OR=1.66, 95%CI:1.04~26.68; OR=2.10, 95%CI:1.16~3.81; OR=2.25, 95%CI:1.39~3.66; OR=2.42, 95%CI:1.06~5.56) and work break was the benefit factors of NSP (OR=0.58, 95%CI:0.36~0.94) . Conclusion: The annual prevalence rate of NSP among automobile manufacturing workers was high. Lifing heavy objects、awkward working positions and unreasonable work arrangement were the major risk factors of NSP, and work break can effectively reduce the risk of NSP. Effective ergonomic intervention should be carried out to prevent the occurrence of NSP.

Abstract
Objectives We examined the effects of magnanimous therapy on psychological coping, adjustment, living function, and survival rate in patients with advanced lung cancer. Methods Patients with advanced lung cancer (n = 145) matched by demographics and medical variables were randomly assigned to an individual computer magnanimous therapy group (ic-mt), a group computer magnanimous therapy group (gc-mt), or a control group (ctrl). Over 2 weeks, the ic-mt and gc-mt groups received eight 40-minute sessions of ic-mt or gc-mt respectively, plus usual care; the ctrl group received only usual care. The Cancer Coping Modes Questionnaire (ccmq), the Psychological Adjustment Scale for Cancer Patients (pascp), and the Functional Living Index-Cancer (flic) were assessed at baseline and 2 weeks later. The relationships of changes in those indicators were analyzed, and survival rates were compared. Results The psychological coping style, adjustment, and living function of the ic-mt and gc-mt groups improved significantly after the intervention (p < 0.01). After 2 weeks, significant (p < 0.01) differences between the treatment groups and the ctrl group in coping style, adjustment, and living function suggested successful therapy. The changes in living function were correlated with changes in psychological coping and adjustment. No difference in efficacy between ic-mt and gc-mt was observed. The survival rate was 31.84% in the ic-mt group and 9.375% in the ctrl group at 2 years after the intervention. Conclusions In patients with advanced lung cancer, ic-mt and gc-mt were associated with positive short-term effects on psychological coping style, adjustment, and living function, although the magnitude of the effect did not differ significantly between the intervention approaches. The effects on living function are partly mediated by improvements in psychological coping and adjustment.

Abstract
AIM Typhoid perforation is the most fatal complication of typhoid fever in developing countries and is most often caused by the bacteria Salmonella Typhi. There are conflicting views as to which type of surgical intervention gives the best outcome. The aim of this study was to determine the mortality associated with the different types of surgical interventions employed in patients with typhoid perforation. METHOD This was a retrospective review of the medical records of adult and paediatric surgical patients treated in the general and paediatric surgical units of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Information was obtained from medical records at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana, between January 2009 and April 2012. The data was analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 20 and 22. RESULTS 133 patients (median age of 21 years, 72.2% males) with typhoid perforation were included in the study. The typhoid perforation specific mortality rate was 12.8%. Males had a significantly lower mortality rate (7.3%) compared to females (27%). Simple bowel closure (85.7% of total) was the most common surgical intervention performed and patients operated upon with this method had a significantly lower mortality rate (9.6%) compared to patients with bowel resection (31.6%). CONCLUSIONS In this study, patients treated with intestinal resection were more likely to die from typhoid perforation and female gender was a risk factor for death. Simple bowel closure was the predominant surgical procedure.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the effects of hydrophilic dental resin monomers, triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) and hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), on the polarization of a human monocyte cell line (THP-1). METHODOLOGY THP-1 cells were treated with resin monomers at noncytotoxic concentrations for 48 h and were analysed for CD86 and CD206 expressions using flow cytometry. The cells were stimulated for polarization in the presence of resin monomers (co-treatment) or after treatment with monomers (pre-treatment). CD86 and CD206 mRNA in co-treated cells was evaluated using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The release of TNF-α and TGF-β by pre-treated and co-treated cells was assessed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Morphological changes of macrophages during polarization were observed using bright-field microscopy. One-way analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS TEGDMA (1 mmol L-1 ) and HEMA (2 mmol L-1 ) did not induce CD86 and CD206 expressions in THP-1 cells but rather inhibited their expressions in the co-treated cells. The inhibitory effects also appeared at the transcription level. However, the expression of surface markers was not affected by pre-treatment with resin monomers. The release of TNF-α and TGF-β by M1- and M2-stimulated cells, respectively, was suppressed by co-treatment (P < 0.05). Microscopic studies revealed that co-treatment with resin monomers suppressed polarization-associated morphological changes such as cell volume increase. CONCLUSIONS TEGDMA and HEMA inhibited macrophage polarization to both M1 and M2 at the transcription level, and the inhibitory effects disappeared upon the removal of resin monomers from the cell culture.

Abstract
Objective: To assess the prognostic value of (18)F-FDG PET/CT and its relationship with clinical features in newly diagnosed MM patients. Methods: A total of 123 patients with newly diagnosed MM in Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital from September 2008 to December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. The overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) were estimated by Kaplan-Meier analysis and the distribution of OS and PFS were compared using log-rank test. Cox regression was used to identify the independent prognostic factors. Results: Of all 123 patients, there were 43 patients (35.0%) who had extramedullary diseases (EMD). Compared to the patients without EMD, the PFS (24.5 months vs 37.8 months, P<0.05) and OS (30.1 months vs 51.4 months, P<0.05) of the patients with EMD at diagnosed was significantly inferior. In multivariate analysis, β2-MG≥5.5 mg/L, age≥65, EMD on (18)F-FDG PET/CT and without CR at the ending of treatments were the four factors leading to poor prognosis. According to the above four factors, the patients were regrouped into low risk, medium risk and high risk groups, the significant difference existed (P<0.01) in these groups. Conclusion: (18)F-FDG PET/CT is helpful in predicting the prognosis of newly diagnosed MM patients.

Abstract
Bladder cancer is one of the causes of cancer‑related death and has a high mortality rate. Daidzein, a natural isoflavone compound predominantly extracted from soybeans, has been reported to exhibit several bioactivities, including anti-tumor. However, the effects of daidzein on bladder cancer remains unrevealed. Here we investigated the effects and molecular mechanisms of daidzein on bladder cancer using multiple in vitro cell lines and in vivo xenograft mice studies. Our results showed that daidzein reduced cell viability in a time- and concentration‑dependent manner. Daidzein significantly impaired colony formation, caused G1/S cell cycle arrest and induced apoptosis of the bladder cancer cells. We also verified that daidzein efficiently suppressed RT112 cell xenograft tumor growth in nude mice. Mechanism studies indicated that significant down-regulation of the FGFR3 signaling pathway was responsible for the efficacy of daidzein. The phosphorylation levels of FGFR3, Akt and Erk proteins were suppressed in association with the decreasing of some apoptosis-suppressing molecules under the daidzein treatment. Knockdown of endogenous FGFR3 impaired the activity of daidzein against bladder cancer, which suggested that the effect of daidzein was mainly mediated by FGFR3 pathway. In addition, the function model of daidzein was similar with FGFR3 antagonist PD173074 in RT112 cells. Taken together, the results this study demonstrate that daidzein is capable of inhibiting bladder cancer growth and might be a novel effective chemotherapeutic agent for the application to combat bladder carcinoma.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of neuron-specific enolase(NSE), central nervous system specific protein(S100β), interleukin-6(IL-6) in sepsis-associated encephalopathy(SAE). Methods: Clinical data of patients admitted to ICU and diagnosed with sepsis were collected from January 2015 to June 2016 in Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. SAE was defined as cerebral dysfunction in the presence of sepsis that also fulfilled the exclusion criteria. The acute physiology and chronic health score (APACHE Ⅱ), sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA), NSE, S100β, IL-6, ICU stay time and 28-day mortality were compared between the two groups. NSE, S100β and IL-6 were measured on the 1st and 3rd day in ICU to determine the optimal cut-off value of SAE. Results: Among 59 enrolled patients, 36 were assigned to SAE group while 23 were non-SAE group. The SAE group had a significantly higher APACHE Ⅱ and SOFA scores, as well as the length of ICU stay (P<0.01). The levels of NSE, S100β and IL-6 in the two groups both increased on the 1st day, and decreased on the 3rd day. The level of NSE on the 1st day[19.28(13.00, 30.52) μg/L vs 16.61(7.58, 22.01 μg/L)] and the 3rd day[16.03(9.40, 21.29) μg/L vs 11.39(8.49, 15.00) μg/L, P=0.029], IL-6 on the 1st day[676.25(81.34, 5 000.00) mg/L vs [209.10(42.27, 648.20) mg/L, P=0.005] and the 3rd day[157.10(72.85, 687.63) mg/L vs 55.92(31.62, 177.00) mg/L, P=0.026] of SAE group was significantly higher than those of non-SAE group. However S100β between groups on the 1st day [0.33(0.15, 0.54) μg/L vs 0.23(0.16, 0.53) μg/L] and the 3rd day[0.19(0.10, 0.29) μg/L vs 0.10(0.05, 0.17) μg/L] was neither significant (P>0.05). The diagnostic values for SAE of NSE, S100β and IL-6 were 14.36 μg/L, 0.14 μg/L and 91.305 mg/L with sensitivity 61.1%, 61.1%, 72.2% and specificity 73.9%, 69.6%, 69.6%, respectively. The diagnostic AUC of NSE and IL-6 combination was 0.774, 95%CI 0.651-0.896. Conclusion: All sepsis patients have different degrees of brain injury. NSE combined with IL-6 on the 3rd day in ICU demonstrates the diagnostic significance of SAE.

Abstract
The role of Grb2-associated binder 1 (Gab1) in bFGF-activated PI3K-AKT pathway of endothelial cells remains largely unknown. To elucidate this role, a set of studies with siRNA knockdown of Gab1 was performed. Knockdown of Gab1 using siRNA was performed in fused endothelial cell line EA.hy926 and the low level of Gab1 was confirmed with quantitative R-T PCR and Western blotting. Effects of Gab1 down-regulation were examined on several aspects: bFGF-induced AKT phosphorylation, proliferation, migration and vessel tubing formation of EA.hy926 cells. The bFGF-induced AKT phosphorylation of wild-type EA.hy926 cells was both dose-dependent and time dependent with a peak at 10 ng/ml and about 30 min after bFGF treatment. The AKT activation was significantly reduced in Gab1 siRNA-treated EA.hy926 cells. The blocking of Gab1-AKT path resulted in a set of biological alterations of EA.hy926 cells: (i) reduced proliferation; (ii) impaired migration; (iii) decreased vessel tubing formation in both 2D and 3D culture. All data support that Gab1 is associated with angiogenesis function of EA.hy926 endothelium cells via PI3K-Akt signaling pathway.

Abstract
A retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) tear is a well-known complication of retinal pigment epithelial detachments (PED) and may cause a significant visual impairment. The most common cause is a vascularized PED in patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The development of diagnostic imaging techniques brings us closer to the etiology and pathophysiological mechanisms of this entity, offering us new strategies for treatment and follow-up. The advent of intravitreal antiangiogenic treatment (anti-VEGF) has led to an increase in the number of reported cases of RPE tears, which are an important vision-limiting factor during treatment. However, RPE tears may occur spontaneously or as a consequence of thermal laser treatment, photodynamic therapy or anti-VEGF therapy. It is accepted that the mechanism of RPE tears is multifactorial. The optimization of the functional outcome of this complication has been described with continuous treatment with antiangiogenic drugs. The goal of the present review is to evaluate the incidence, risk factors and treatment of RPE tears.

Abstract
Nondiffusive phonon thermal transport, extensively observed in nanostructures, has largely been attributed to classical size effects, ignoring the wave nature of phonons. We report localization behavior in phonon heat conduction due to multiple scattering and interference events of broadband phonons, by measuring the thermal conductivities of GaAs/AlAs superlattices with ErAs nanodots randomly distributed at the interfaces. With an increasing number of superlattice periods, the measured thermal conductivities near room temperature increased and eventually saturated, indicating a transition from ballistic to diffusive transport. In contrast, at cryogenic temperatures the thermal conductivities first increased but then decreased, signaling phonon wave localization, as supported by atomistic Greenșs function simulations. The discovery of phonon localization suggests a new path forward for engineering phonon thermal transport.

Abstract
We investigate the stability of incoherently coupled two-color vector dark and grey solitons in a nonlinear self-defocusing media. We employ the variational technique to derive approximate solutions of the two-color vector dark solitons. The relations between the soliton parameters and the representation of the transverse velocities of the vector solitons are analytically obtained. We also demonstrate numerically the propagation dynamics of the two-color vector solitons, which shows that the two-color vector dark and grey solitons with different wavelengths are always unstable.
