Abstract
We report a case of a neonate with Noonan syndrome presenting with concurrent hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia, which resulted in premature death. Cases with Noonan syndrome diagnosed during the neonatal period might not necessarily show mild clinical course, and premature death is a possible outcome to be considered.

Abstract
AdV11-HC is one of the major complications after allogeneic HSCT in Japan. We previously reported that the intravenous infusion of ganciclovir was effective against AdV11-HC in a post-transplant patient. We here report a case of a 10-year-old boy who underwent cord blood transplantation for the treatment of relapsed lymphoblastic lymphoma. He developed AdV11-HC with an elevated AdV load in his urine and blood on day 14 after HSCT. He was immediately treated with intravenous ganciclovir; he rapidly achieved a remission of AdV11-HC with a decreased AdV load in his urine and blood. He remained in remission of AdV11-HC, even after we switched ganciclovir to oral valganciclovir on day 63. A pharmacokinetics study of his urine revealed that therapeutic concentrations of ganciclovir could be achieved by both intravenous ganciclovir and oral valganciclovir. These findings suggested that both intravenous ganciclovir and oral valganciclovir could be promising alternatives for the treatment of AdV11-HC in post-transplant patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Mitochondrial dysfunction results in a wide range of organ disorders through diverse genetic abnormalities. We herein present the detailed clinical course of an infant admitted for extensive, rapidly progressing white matter lesions and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy due to a BOLA3 gene mutation. CASE A 6-month-old girl with no remarkable family or past medical history until 1 month prior presented with developmental regression and feeding impairment. Ultrasound cardiography and brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) respectively disclosed the presence of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and symmetrical deep white matter lesions. She was transferred to our hospital at age 6 months. High lactate levels in her cerebrospinal fluid suggested mitochondrial dysfunction. Despite vitamin supplementation therapy followed by a ketogenic diet, the patient began exhibiting clusters of myoclonic seizures and respiratory failure. Brain and spinal cord MRI revealed rapid progression of the white matter lesions. She died at 10 months of age. Fibroblasts obtained pre-mortem displayed low mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I and II activity. A homozygous H96R (c. 287 A > G) mutation was identified in the BOLA3 gene. DISCUSSION No reported case of a homozygous BOLA3 gene mutation has survived past 1 year of life. BOLA3 appears to play a critical role in the electron transport system and production of iron-sulfur clusters that are related to lipid metabolism and enzyme biosynthesis.

Abstract
We report on a Japanese female infant as the fourth patient with the constitutional pure duplication 1q41-qter confirmed by chromosomal microarray and as the first who developed myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) among those with the constitutional 1q duplication. Common clinical features of the constitutional pure duplication 1q41-qter include developmental delay, craniofacial characteristics, foot malformation, hypertrichosis, and respiratory insufficiency. The association between MDS and the duplication of the genes in the 1q41-qter region remains unknown.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Wilms' tumor 1 (WT1) peptide-based vaccination has been reported for its potential usefulness in targeting several cancers. The adjuvant drug OK-432 is known to have potent immunomodulation and therapeutic properties when applied in cancer treatment and may, thus, be important to trigger the appropriate immunological response in paediatric patients with a solid tumor that are vaccinated with a WT1 peptide. PATIENTS AND METHODS Paediatric patients with a solid tumor were vaccinated with a WT1 peptide and OK-432 once every 2 weeks, for a total of seven times. RESULTS Of the 24 patients, 18 completed the scheduled vaccinations. Sixteen patients had local skin symptoms and/or fever. In 1 patient, anaphylactic symptoms emerged at the time of the final injection, but these quickly subsided after the treatment. WT1-specific immunological responses were observed in 4 patients (22.2%). WT1 and HLA class I expression were confirmed in 100% and 85% of primary tumors, respectively. CONCLUSION WT1 peptide vaccine therapy combined with OK-432 appears to be relatively safe for children. However further studies in a larger number of patients are necessary to confirm its safety and efficacy.

Abstract
Herein we report the case of a 10-year-old boy with an autosomal mosaic mutation who developed bacteremia. The causative agent was identified as Moraxella osloensis by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. In the pediatric population, there have been 13 case reports of infection attributed to M. osloensis and this is the fifth reported case of pediatric bacteremia due to M. osloensis. After Moraxella species infection was confirmed, the patient recovered with appropriate antimicrobial therapy. It is important to consider that M. osloensis can cause serious infections, such as bacteremia, in otherwise healthy children.

Abstract
This article describes the analysis of volatile compounds in fermented materials used for salmon fish sauce production via gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Ten types of fish sauces were produced from raw salmon materials, including various proportions of flesh, viscera, inedible portion (heads, fins, and backbones), and soft roe, by mixing them with salt and allowing them to ferment for up to three months. The volatile compounds were captured by a solid-phase microextraction method and then applied to GC/MS for separation and identification of the compounds in the fish sauce products. The number of volatile compounds identified in the starting materials varied from 15 to 29 depending on the ingredients. The number of compounds in the final fish sauce products was reduced by 3.4–94.7% of that in the original material. The retention times and names of the identified compounds, as well as their relative peak areas, are provided in a Microsoft Excel Worksheet.

Abstract
Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) performed mostly in populations of European and Hispanic ancestry have confirmed an inherited genetic basis for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), but these associations are less clear in other races/ethnicities. DNA samples from ALL patients (aged 0–19 years) previously enrolled onto a Tokyo Children’s Cancer Study Group trial were collected during 2013–2015, and underwent single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) microarray genotyping resulting in 527 B-cell ALL for analysis. Cases and control data for 3,882 samples from the Nagahama Study Group and Aichi Cancer Center Study were combined, and association analyses across 10 previous GWAS-identified regions were performed after targeted SNP imputation. Linkage disequilibrium (LD) patterns in Japanese and other populations were evaluated using the varLD score based on 1000 Genomes data. Risk associations for ARID5B (rs10821936, OR = 1.84, P = 6 × 10−17) and PIP4K2A (rs7088318, OR = 0.76, P = 2 × 10−4) directly transferred to Japanese, and the IKZF1 association was detected by an alternate SNP (rs1451367, OR = 1.52, P = 2 × 10−6). Marked regional LD differences between Japanese and Europeans was observed for most of the remaining loci for which associations did not transfer, including CEBPE, CDKN2A, CDKN2B, and ELK3. This study represents a first step towards characterizing the role of genetic susceptibility in childhood ALL risk in Japanese.

Abstract
Goldenhar´s syndrome (GS) also known as oculo-auriculo-vertebral spectrum (OAVS) is a relatively rare condition. GS is of multifactorial etiology that includes environmental and/or genetic factors, in addition to teratogens that disturb the blastogenesis. A 5-year-old girl from Saudi Arabia, was a member of dizygotic twins conceived by assisted reproductive technology (ART), and born with features of GS. She had asymmetrical face, cleft lip and palate, right microphthalmia and microtia. Radiological imaging showed right maxillary and mandibular bone hypoplasia, asymmetrically enlarged parietal foramina, a persistent midline occipital foramen, abnormal bone arising from occipital bone, extending along tentorium cerebelli, and a lipoma at the right tentorium cerebelli. A rudimentary right eye with dermoid cyst and pseudotumor as well as bilateral atresia of external auditory canals were present. Karyotyping was normal. ART and the risk of manipulation of ovum/embryo, was shown to be associated with multiple gestation and an increased risk of major birth defects. Given that our patient was from Eastern-province close to the South of Iraq, where Gulf wars took place and the reported incidence of birth defects, including orofacial malformation, jumped there to about seven-folds, after war, thus, environmental contamination, and the possible teratogenic effect of depleted uranium could not be excluded. In conclusion, our case of GS, disclosed a rare radiological finding in calvarial anatomy, and asserted that, careful clinical evaluation is recommended in cases of GS. ART fertilization risk along with the possible parental environmental exposure were regarded as the potential cooperators of multifactorial etiology in our case.

Abstract
This data article provides the free amino acid contents of Japanese basket clams from different areas of Lake Abashiri and Abashirigawa River, which belong to the same water system. Abashirigawa River flows into the south side of Lake Abashiri and then runs out from the northeast side of the lake. Clams were caught in three different areas in Lake Abashiri (Memanbetsu, Yobito, and Katayama) and from one site at Abashirigawa River (Sancho). Free amino acids in the edible portion of the clams were analyzed using an automated amino acid analyzer. The clams showed high contents in β-alanine, alanine, glutamic acid, and glycine. The clams caught in the river contains relatively higher amino acid contents. The analyzed data are provided in table format.

Abstract
Adoptive T cell therapy using chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-modified T cells is a promising cancer immunotherapy. We previously developed a non-viral method of gene transfer into T cells using a piggyBac transposon system to improve the cost-effectiveness of CAR-T cell therapy. Here, we have further improved our technology by a novel culture strategy to increase the transfection efficiency and to reduce the time of T cell manufacturing. Using a CH2CH3-free CD19-specific CAR transposon vector and combining irradiated activated T cells (ATCs) as feeder cells and virus-specific T cell receptor (TCR) stimulation, we achieved 51.4% ± 14% CAR+ T cells and 2.8-fold expansion after 14 culture days. Expanded CD19.CAR-T cells maintained a significant fraction of CD45RA+CCR7+ T cells and demonstrated potent antitumor activity against CD19+ leukemic cells both in vitro and in vivo. Therefore, piggyBac-based gene transfer may provide an alternative to viral gene transfer for CAR-T cell therapy.

This data article reports the chemical properties (moisture, pH, salinity, and soluble solid content) and colors of fermenting materials in salmon fish sauce products. The fish sauce was produced by mixing salt with differing proportions of raw salmon materials and fermenting for three months; the salmon materials comprised flesh, viscera, an inedible portion, and soft roe. Chemical properties and colors of the unrefined fish sauce (moromi), and the refined fish sauce, were analyzed at one, two, and three months following the start of fermentation. Data determined for all products are provided in table format.

Abstract
This data article describes a sensory evaluation of potatoes used in food processing from the Tokachi, Kamikawa, and Abashiri geographic areas of Hokkaido, Japan, performed by untrained young adults. We gathered sensory data on potatoes from the four cultivars 'Toyoshiro,' 'Kitahime,' 'Snowden,' and 'Poroshiri.' The sensory evaluation was performed on steamed potatoes from each cultivar; these potatoes were harvested from each of the three geographic areas. Table 1 provides the data from the evaluation of the five basic tastes (sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami), as well as the evaluation of the egumi taste, which is a Japanese term indicating a taste that is acrid, astringent, and slightly bitter.

Abstract
Fish sauce is a brownish liquid seasoning with a characteristic flavor that is produced in Asian countries and limited areas of Europe. The types of fish and shellfish and fermentation process used in its production depend on the region from which it derives. Variations in ingredients and fermentation procedures yield end products with different smells, tastes, and colors. For this data article, we employed an electronic panel (e-panel) technique including an electronic nose (e-nose), electronic tongue (e-tongue), and electronic eye (e-eye), in which smell, taste, and color are evaluated by sensors instead of the human nose, tongue, and eye to avoid subjective error. The presented data comprise clustering of 46 commercially available fish sauce products based separate e-nose, e-tongue, and e-eye test results. Sensory intensity data from the e-nose, e-tongue, and e-eye were separately classified by cluster analysis and are shown in dendrograms. The hierarchical cluster analysis indicates major three groups on e-nose and e-tongue data, and major four groups on e-eye data.

Abstract
This data article reports on the chemical properties of commercial fish sauce products associated with the fish sauce taste and flavor. All products were analyzed in triplicate. Dried solid content was analyzed by moisture analyzer. Fish sauce salinity was determined by a salt meter. pH was measured using a pH meter. The acidity was determined using a titration assay. Amino nitrogen and total nitrogen were evaluated using a titration assay and Combustion-type nitrogen analyzer, respectively. The analyzed products originated from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, and Italy. Data on the chemical properties of the products are provided in table format in the current article.

Abstract
Magnetization measurements under pressure reveal that the external hydrostatic pressure significantly increases in the ferrimagnetic transition temperature, Tc, for A2Mn[Mn(CN)6] (A = K, Rb, Cs). In the case of monoclinic A = K and Rb, dTc/dp values are 21.2 and 14.6 K GPa-1, respectively, and Tc increases by 53 and 39%, respectively, from ambient pressure to 1.0 GPa. The cubic A = Cs compound also shows a monotonous increase with an initial rate of 4.22 K GPa-1 and about 11.4 K GPa-1 above 0.6 GPa, and an overall Tc increase by 26% at 1.0 GPa. The increase in Tc is attributed to deformation of the structure such that the MnII-N≡C angle decreases with increasing pressure. The smaller the alkali cation, the greater the decrease in the MnII-N≡C angle induced by pressure and the larger the increase of dTc/dp. This is in accordance with the ambient-pressure structures for A2Mn[Mn(CN)6] (A = K, Rb, Cs), which have decreasing MnII-N≡C angles that correlate to the observed increasing Tcs as K > Rb > Cs. The large increase in Tc for the A = K compound is the highest class among several cyano-bridged metal complexes. The tuning of the transition temperature by such a weak pressure may lead to additional applications such as switching devices.
