Abstract
The hummingbird-visited plant community located on the open-habitat mountaintop of the Espinhaço Range was studied for two years (from August 2007 to July 2009) in Serra do Cipó National Park, Southeastern Brazil (19° 15′ S and 43° 31′ W). The floral characteristics and flowering period of the hummingbird-visited plants was monthly recorded along trails located in three vegetation types: (1) typical campos rupestres (TCR), (2) open fields (OPF), and (3) capões de mata(CAM). Hummingbird visitation was observed in 51 plant species, 22 ornithophilous and 29 non-ornithophilous species. The TCR showed the greatest number of species visited (N = 38), followed by the OPF (N = 18) and CAM (N = 17). Six species of hummingbirds were recorded visiting flowers: Augastes scutatus, Campylopterus largipennis, Colibri serrirostris, Chlorostilbon lucidus, Eupetomena macroura and Phaethornis pretrei. This study demonstrates that the species richness and the number of ornithophilous species visited by the hummingbirds at the study site are more similar to hummingbird-plant communities of the Atlantic Forest than to those of the Cerrado communities and other Brazilian highland open-habitat communities. The plant families most visited by hummingbirds were Bromeliaceae and Asteraceae. Although the Asteraceae family is rarely used as a food resource for hummingbirds in other high and lowland communities, in the study site this family is used mainly by the endemic hummingbird Augastes scutatus. We found a large overlap of flowering throughout the year among the species visited by the hummingbirds. Thus, the nectar availability supports these resident hummingbirds. The present study also showed that the studied hummingbird-plant community is composed of many species endemic to the campos rupestres of the Espinhaço Range, some of which are considered to be in danger of extinction, thus constituting a unique and threatened community. Thus, understanding hummingbird-plant pollination dynamics becomes fundamental to the conservation of the campos rupestres.

Abstract
Metallic magnetic calorimeters are a specific type of cryogenic detectors that have been shown to enable precise measurement of the shape of low energy beta spectra. The aim of their use at LNHB is the determination of the shape factors of beta spectra. The beta source is enclosed in the detector absorber, allowing for very high detection efficiency. It has turned out that the type of source is of crucial importance for the correctness of the measured spectrum. Spectra of (63)Ni measured with several sources prepared by drying a NiCl2 solution differ from one another and from theory, whereas spectra measured with electroplated sources are reproducible and agree with theory. With these latter measurements we could confirm the atomic exchange effect down to very low energy (200 eV).

Abstract
Abstract
Background: Several prognostic factors and composite scores based on either patients general condition and/or usual blood analyses have been described in the setting of advanced metastatic cancers to estimate patients overall survival (OS). Over the past decade, circulating tumor cells (CTC) have been repeatedly reported as being a strong prognostic tool in metastatic breast cancer patients. We took the opportunity of the observational part of a prospective clinical trial (CirCe01, NCT01349842) that included 3rd line metastatic breast cancer patients to assess and compare several prognostic factors/scores and circulating tumor cell count.
Patients and Methods: Metastatic breast cancer patients were included before the start of a 3rd line chemotherapy at the Institut Curie, Paris, France. The following adverse prognostic factors were assessed prospectively and compared to overall survival: altered performance status (PS≥2), lymphopenia (<1,000 lymphocyte/microl), elevated CTC count (CellSearch, ≥5CTC/7.5ml), low albumin (<35g/l), elevated CA 15.3 (>30UI/ml), elevated CEA (>5ng/ml), elevated LDH (>50UI/l). Two composite scores were also evaluated: the Barbot score (combining Karnofsky index, number of metastases, albumin and LDH; Barbot JCO 2008) and the Prognostic Inflammatory and Nutritional Index (PINI; combining albumin, prealbumin, orosomucoid and C-reactive protein). Metastatic sites (liver, lung, bone) were also analyzed. Survival was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier curves; multivariate analysis was done using a Cox model.
Results: 56 patients have included prospectively and 36 of them (64%) died. CA 15.3 and CEA levels, lymphopenia and metastatic sites had no significant impact on OS in univariate analysis. The incidence of the significant prognostic markers (%), their correlations (p value) and impact (p value) on overall survival are shown.

In multivariable analysis, the three independent prognostic markers on OS were: elevated CTC count (p = 0.003, HR = 3.4 95% CI [1.5-7.7]), poor PS (p = 0.005, HR = 4.1 95% IC[1.5-11.3]) and low albumin (p<0.0001, HR = 11.3 95% IC[3.9-32.5]).
Discussion: CTC are an independent prognostic marker, even in advanced metastatic breast cancer. The disease aggressiveness being captured by the CTC count, usual clinical and biochemical tests appear to be sufficient to evaluate the patient prognosis, whereas more complex score (PINI, Barbot) appear to be of low interest.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Simple Measure of the Impact of Lupus Erythematosus in Youngsters (SMILEY) is a health-related quality of life (HRQOL) assessment tool for pediatric systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), which has been translated into Portuguese for Brazil. We are reporting preliminary data on cross-cultural validation and reliability of SMILEY in Portuguese (Brazil). METHODS In this multi-center cross-sectional study, Brazilian children and adolescents 5-18 years of age with SLE and parents participated. Children and parents completed child and parent reports of Portuguese SMILEY and Portuguese Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL™) Generic and Rheumatology modules. Parents also completed the Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire (CHAQ). Physicians completed the SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI), Physician's Global Assessment of disease activity (PGA) and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus International Collaborating Clinics ACR Damage Index (SDI). RESULTS 99 subjects (84 girls) were enrolled; 93 children and 97 parents filled out the SMILEY scale. Subjects found SMILEY relevant and easy to understand and completed SMILEY in 5-15 minutes. Brazilian SMILEY was found to have good psychometric properties (validity and reliability), and the child-parent agreement was moderate. CONCLUSION SMILEY may eventually be used routinely as a research/clinical tool in Brazil. It may be also adapted for other Portuguese-speaking nations offering critical information regarding the effect of SLE on HRQOL for children with SLE.
