Abstract
Transplantation of human hepatocytes (HHs) holds significant potential for treating liver diseases. However, the supply of transplantable HHs is severely constrained by limited donor availability and compromised capacity for in vitro expansion. In response to chronic injury, some HHs are reprogrammed into proliferative cells that express both hepatocyte and progenitor markers, suggesting exploitable strategies for expanding HHs in vitro. Here, we report defined medium conditions that allow 10,000-fold expansion of HHs. These proliferating HHs are bi-phenotypic, partially retaining hepatic features while gaining expression of progenitor-associated genes. Importantly, these cells engraft into injured mouse liver at a level comparable to primary HHs, and they undergo maturation following transplantation in vivo or differentiation in vitro. Thus, this study provides a protocol that enables large-scale expansion of transplantable HHs, which could be further developed for modeling and treating human liver disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We initiated a retrospective study on ankle fractures to assess (1) the time needed for fracture union; (2) the incidence of adverse radiographic outcomes (AROs); (3) factors that might lead to AROs; and (4) whether AROs were associated with worse function and higher incidence of post-trauma osteoarthritis (PTOA). METHODS From 2007 to 2016, a total of 296 patients (169 women, 127 men; average age, 48.6 years; range, 20-84) were diagnosed with a medial malleolar fracture, whether isolated or in the setting of bi- or trimalleolar fractures, and underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) or percutaneous screw fixation (PSF). The interval to fracture union, radiographic outcomes, American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) score at 6 months postoperatively, and the incidence of PTOA were recorded. Risk factors were identified both in univariate and multivariate analysis. The average follow-up period was 52.0 months (range, 12-118). RESULTS The incidence of delayed union, nonunion, and malunion were 20.3%, 3.7%, and 4.4%, respectively. The interval to fracture union was 10.3 ± 6.4 weeks. In the multivariate analysis, the risk factors for AROs were tobacco use, vertical fractures, interposed soft tissue, and fair/poor reduction. Patients with AROs had significantly worse AOFAS score at 6 months postoperatively ( P < .001) and higher incidence of PTOA ( P < .001). CONCLUSION AROs of medial malleolar fractures have an underestimated incidence rate and are associated with worse ankle function and higher incidence of PTOA. Risk factors including tobacco use, vertical fractures, interposed soft tissue, poor/fair reduction should be prudently taken into consideration when treating medial malleolar fractures. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Level III, retrospective cohort study.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and platelet lymphocyte ratio(PLR) and the incidence of sudden deafness and its impact on the prognosis. Method: The clinical data of 203 patients with sudden deafness was retrospectively analyzed.Pure tone audiometry, complete blood count and other related examinations were performed before treatment. Hearing type was depending on the diagnostic criteria of sudden deafness; NLR and PLR were calculated. After that, pure tone audiometry was reviewed again and the hearing changes were recorded. The control group was 203 healthy persons without infectious disease. Result: The median NLR and PLR of the sudden deafness group were 2.8 and 126.4, respectively, and that of the control group were 1.4 and 96.9 respectively. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.01). The median NLR and PLR of the recovery group were 2.4 and 116.9, and that of the unrecovered group were 3.4 and 145.0,respectively, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). No significant difference of NLR or PLR was observed among the low medium frequency type, high frequency type, flat type and total deafness type for each two pairs(P>0.05). Conclusion: NLR and PLR are higher in patients with sudden deafness than the healthy controls, and are higher in the unrecovered group than in the recovery group. Our result supports the role of inflammatory theory in the pathogenesis of sudden deafness. Therefore, NLR and PLR can be used as a new reliable indicator to evaluate the prognosis of sudden deafness, but NLR and PLR may not have a significant correlation with hearing classification.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of computer-assisted design based on three-dimensional reconstruction technique on the reduction accuracy of tibial and fibular fractures with Taylor external fixation. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on the clinical data of 69 patients who had tibia and fibula fractures treated with Taylor external fixation in department of orthopedic trauma of Tianjin Hospital from January 2016 to January 2018 to compare the residual deformity after fracture reduction between computer-assisted design method (experimental group) and the standard measurement method (control group). The frontal and lateral tibia and fibula X-ray of all the affected limbs were taken. In experimental group, all the patients took bilateral tibial CT tomography, and then DICOM format documents were input into the Mimics 17.1 software and got three-dimensional models of targeted bone and external fixation ring. After that the visual image matching was performed between external fixation ring three-dimensional reconstruction model and the standard model and also between the affected limb and the contralateral limb. Then the reduction trajectory plan of bone broken end and the position of external fixation ring were obtained. The STL files were input to Solid Works software and got the length of six rods to adjust the Taylor external fixation. In control group, the films were measured by Coreldraw X7 X-ray measurement software and the parameters were input in Taylor Spatial Frame system software. And then six calibrated threaded rods were adjusted according to the prescription of the software. Finally, all the patients took the X-ray films again to evaluate the degree of residual displacement. Skew distributional data are indicated with M(QR), and method of non-parameter was used to analyze variances between groups. Results: All patients had better fracture reduction and achieved functional reset criteria. In the control group, the amount of displacement and angle residual aberration (improvement) in the frontal and lateral radiographs were 0.50(2.30)mm(90%), 0.00(0.85)mm(100%)and 0.00°(1.50°)(100%), 0.00°(0.00°)(100%), respectively. In the control group, the amount of displacement and angle residual aberration (improvement) in the frontal and lateral radiographs were 1.40(3.28)mm(69%), 2.15(4.27)mm(46%)and 1.15°(1.85°)(73%), 0.80°(2.10°)(67%). The positive and lateral angles and lateral displacements in the two groups were significantly different(P<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference in positive displacement (P=0.099). Conclusion: Both computer-assisted design method and the standard measurement method have satisfactory reduction effect, but computer-assisted design can accurately correct fracture deformity, which is good for fracture healing and functional recovery of affected limb.

Abstract
Deguelin, a natural rotenoid isolated from several plants, has been reported to exert anti‐tumour effects in various cancers. However, the molecular mechanism of this regulation remains to be fully elucidated. Here, we found that deguelin inhibited the growth of non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells both in vitro and in vivo by downregulation of Bmi1 expression. Our data showed that Bmi1 is highly expressed in human NSCLC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of Bmi1 significantly suppressed NSCLC cell proliferation and colony formation. Deguelin treatment attenuated the binding activity of Bmi1 to the Noxa promoter, thus resulting in Noxa transcription and apoptosis activation. Knockdown of Bmi1 promoted Noxa expression and enhanced deguelin‐induced apoptosis, whereas overexpression of Bmi1 down‐regulated Noxa protein level and deguelin‐induced apoptosis. Overall, our study demonstrated a novel apoptotic mechanism for deguelin to exert its anti‐tumour activity in NSCLC cells.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the characteristics of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), particularly diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), in the imaging of intrapancreatic accessory spleen (IPAS). The clinical and pathological records of 9 patients, including 8 patients with IPAS and 1 patient with splenosis, were reviewed. The patients had undergone plain and triple-phase enhanced CT scanning (n=9) and MRI scanning (n=8). The lesions of the 8 IPAS patients were located in the pancreatic tail, and were round (n=3), oval (n=4) or triangular (n=1) in shape. The CT and/or MRI densities, signal intensities and dynamic enhanced patterns of the lesions were similar to those of the orthotopic spleen. In DWI images (n=5), the IPAS regions presented high signal intensity (SI), and no significant difference in the apparent diffusion coefficient determined using a b-value of 600 sec/mm2 was identified between the IPAS and orthotopic spleen (P>0.05). One patient with splenosis complicated with cirrhosis had a nodule located in the pancreatic tail with an unenhanced CT value of 65 HU. In MRI examination, with the exception of the dynamic enhancement pattern, the T1-weighted, T2-weighted and DWI signals of splenosis were inconsistent with those of the normal spleen. In conclusion, in pre-contrast and post-contrast-enhanced CT and MRI images, IPAS exhibits similar characteristics to the orthotopic spleen. CT and MRI used in combination with DWI are important in the diagnosis of IPAS.

Abstract
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death among both men and women every year, mainly due to metastasis. Although natural compound deguelin has been reported to inhibited cell migration and invasion in various cancer cells, the details of this regulation progress remain to be fully elucidated. In this study, we investigated the underlying mechanism of deguelin-suppressed metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Our results demonstrate that deguelin inhibits NSCLC cell migration, invasion, and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo. These inhibitory effects of deguelin were mediated by suppressing of Cathepsin Z (CtsZ) expression and interrupting the interaction of CtsZ with integrin β3. Moreover, deguelin inhibits the activation of CtsZ downstream FAK/Src/Paxillin signaling. Knockdown of CtsZ mimicked the effect of deguelin on NSCLC cells migration and invasion. Our study reveals that deguelin exerts its anti-metastatic effect both in vitro and in vivo is partly dependent on the suppression of CtsZ signaling. Deguelin would be a potential anti-metastasis agent against NSCLC.

Abstract
Tuning multiple strain and polar states of ferroelectrics by using strain engineering is an essential approach for designing multifunctional electric devices such as multiple state memories. However, integrating multiple strain states is still a challenge, and in addition, revealing such strains and the resultant polar behaviors on the atomic level remains difficult. In this work we prepare PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3/PbTiO3 (PZT/PTO) superlattices on SrRuO3-buffered SrTiO3(001) substrates. Aberration-corrected high angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM) reveals that the superlattice is coherent in both c (out-of-plane polar direction) and a (in-plane polar direction) domains. We find that the strain states of both PZT and PTO in c and a domains are variant, leading to four special strain states. For example, the tetragonality for PTO in c and a domains is 1.061 and 1.045, respectively. In contrast, PZT in c domains displays a tetragonality as giant as 1.107, which corresponds to 110 µC cm-2 spontaneous polarization, much larger than the bulk PZT; while PZT in a domains exhibits 1.010 tetragonality with about 70 µC cm-2 polarization. This study reveals a practical way to integrate multiple strain states and enhanced polarizations in ferroelectric films, which could be used as multifunctional electric elements.

Abstract
The adaptive immune system plays a critical role in hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy)-accelerated atherosclerosis. Recent studies suggest that HHcy aggravates atherosclerosis with elevated oxidative stress and reduced S-nitrosylation level of redox-sensitive protein residues in the vasculature. However, whether and how S-nitrosylation contributes to T-cell-driven atherosclerosis remain unclear. In the present study, we report that HHcy reduced the level of protein S-nitrosylation in T cells by inducing S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR), the key denitrosylase that catalyzes S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), which is the main restored form of nitric oxide in vivo. Consequently, secretion of inflammatory cytokines [interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and interleukin-2] and proliferation of T cells were increased. GSNOR knockout or GSNO stimulation rectified HHcy-induced inflammatory cytokine secretion and T-cell proliferation. Site-directed mutagenesis of Akt at Cys224 revealed that S-nitrosylation at this site was pivotal for the reduced phosphorylation at Akt Ser473, which led to impaired Akt signaling. Furthermore, on HHcy challenge, as compared with GSNOR+/+ApoE-/- littermate controls, GSNOR-/-ApoE-/- double knockout mice showed reduced T-cell activation with concurrent reduction of atherosclerosis. Adoptive transfer of GSNOR-/- T cells to ApoE-/- mice fed homocysteine (Hcy) decreased atherosclerosis, with fewer infiltrated T cells and macrophages in plaques. In patients with HHcy and coronary artery disease, the level of plasma Hcy was positively correlated with Gsnor expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and IFN-γ+ T cells but inversely correlated with the S-nitrosylation level in T cells. These data reveal that T cells are activated, in part via GSNOR-dependent Akt denitrosylation during HHcy-induced atherosclerosis. Thus, suppression of GSNOR in T cells may reduce the risk of atherosclerosis.

Abstract
In this study, the watersoluble epoxy resin was prepared via the ring-opening reaction between diethanolamine and epoxy resin. The modified resin mixed with graphene oxide (GO) as a sizing agent was coated onto carbon fiber (CF) and then the GO-CF reinforced acrylonitrile-butadienestyrene (ABS) composites were prepared. The influences of the different contents of GO on CF and CF/ABS composite were explored. The combination among epoxy, GO sheets and maleic anhydride grafted ABS (ABSMA) showed a synergistic effect on improving the properties of GO-CF and GO-CF/ABS composite. The GO-CF had higher single tensile strength than the commercial CF. The maximum ILSS of GO-CF/ABS composite obtained 19.2% improvement as compared with that of the commercial CF/ABS composite. Such multiscale enhancement method and the synergistic reinforced GO-CF/ABS composite show good prospective applications in many industry areas.

Abstract
PURPOSE We initiated a retrospective study on the long-term survival of cemented endoprostheses for bone tumours around the knee to answer the following questions: (1) What was the survival of these patients? (2) What was the overall survival of cemented prostheses around the knee? (3) What types of failures were observed in these reconstructions? (4) Did the survival and complications vary according to the site of the implant? (5) What was the functional result after cemented prosthesis replacement around the knee? METHODS From January 2006 to December 2013, 108 consecutive patients with an average age of 25 years, who had mature bone development as evidenced by imaging examinations, underwent 108 cemented endoprosthetic knee replacements for osteosarcoma resection. All patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy using a multi-drug protocol consisting of high dose methotrexate (HDMTX), doxorubicin (ADM), cisplatin (DDP) and high dose ifosfamide (HDIFO). When extensor mechanism reconstruction was required, we ran nonabsorbable sutures through designated holes in the tibial component to fix detached hamstrings and the remaining ligaments in an imbricated fashion as well as reinforced the reconstruction with a medial gastrocnemius flap. Seventy-two (72/108, 66.7%) lesions were located in the distal femur and 36 (36/108, 33.3%) lesions at the proximal tibias. Nineteen patients were staged as IIA and 89 as IIB according to the Enneking staging system. The average follow-up was 53.3 months (range 12-125 months), with a minimum oncological follow-up of one year. Survival, prosthetic failure, complications and functional outcomes were recorded and reassessed at every visit after the primary operation. RESULTS At the final follow-up, the oncologic results showed that 33 patients died from metastases, and local recurrence occurred in ten patients. The estimated overall five-year and eight-year survival rates were 71% (95% CI: 62.4-79.65%) and 67.2% (95% CI: 58-76.4%), respectively. In this study, a total of 51 complications occurred in 45 patients, and at the end of follow-up, 59 patients had prostheses in situ. The estimated overall five-year and eight-year implant survival rates were 77.7% (95% CI: 67.9-87.5%) and 54.5% (95% CI: 31.4-77.6%), respectively, when patients who died with their original prostheses were censored. In total, 21 (21/108, 19.4%) implants failed, five due to infections (5/21), eight due to aseptic loosening (8/21), four due to local recurrence (4/21), three due to structural failure (3/21) and one due to soft tissue failure (1/21). The average Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Score (MSTS) at the most recent follow-up was 22.9 (9-30) points on a 30-point scale, which indicated an excellent or good functional outcome. Analysis of the results based on implant site revealed a slight difference of the estimated five-year prosthesis survival between implants located in the distal femur and those located in the proximal tibia [86.1% (95% CI: 75.5-97%) versus 66.9% (95% CI: 49.8-83.9%); P = 0.09]. However, the functional outcomes and complication rates of prostheses located in the distal femur were both better than those located in the proximal tibia. CONCLUSIONS With effective management strategies for complications, cemented endoprosthetic reconstruction of the proximal tibia and distal femur using an extensor mechanism reconstruction technique provides a reliable method of reconstruction following tumour resection around the knee. Level of Evidence Level IV, therapeutic study.

Abstract
Objective: To make a systematic assessment of the Long-term efficacy of open reduction and internal fixation versus external fixation for unstable distal radius fractures. Methods: A computer-based online search of PubMed, ScienceDirect, EMBASE, BIOSIS, Springer and Cochrane Library were performed. The randomized and controlled trials of open reduction and internal fixation versus external fixation for unstable distal radius fractures were collected. The included trials were screened out strictly based on the criterion of inclusion and exclusion. The quality of included trials was evaluated. RevMan 5.0 was used for data analysis. Results: Sixteen studies involving 1 268 patients were included. There were 618 patients with open reduction and internal fixation and 650 with external fixation. The results of meta-analysis indicated that there were statistically significant differences with regard to the complications postoperatively (infection(I(2)=0%, RR=0.27, 95% CI 0.16-0.45, Z=4.92, P<0.000 01) and total complications(I(2)=0%, RR=0.71, 95% CI 0.59-0.85, Z=3.65, P=0.000 3) ), DASH scores(I(2)=37%, MD=-5.67, 95% CI -8.31--3.04, Z=4.22, P<0.000 1) and volar tilt(I(2)=78%, MD=2.29, 95% CI 0.33-4.24, Z=2.30, P=0.02)(P<0.05) at the end of follow-up period were noted. There were no statistically significant differences observed between two approaches with respect to the clinical outcomes (grip strength, flexion, extension, pronation, supination, radial deviation and ulnar deviation) and radiographic outcome(radial length) at the end of follow-up period(P<0.05). Conclusion: Both open reduction and internal fixation and external fixation are effective treatment for unstable distal radius fractures. Compared with external fixation, open reduction and internal fixation provides reduced complications postoperatively, lower DASH scores and better restoration of volar tilt for treatment of distal radius fractures.

Abstract
Objective: To review the clinical-pathology characteristics of 19 relapsed pediatric mature B cell lymphoma and to find the risk factors for recurrence and the feasible treatment after relapse. Method: Data of 212 pediatric B cell lymphomas cases in Beijing Children's Hospital from January 2006 to June 2015 were collected retrospectively. All the patients were treated according to the B cell lymphoma regimen of Beijing Children's Hospital. During the study period, 19 of 212 cases were relapsed; the clinio-pathological characteristics of relapsed patients before treatment and after relapse were analyzed retrospectively, the treatment outcomes after relapse were summarized and the patients were followed-up. Result: Nineteen of 212 cases had relapsed disease, for these relapsed patients: the median age at initial diagnosis was 5.5 years old, the median level of uric acid was 384(range, 121-713)μmol/L, the median level of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) was 1 323(range, 146-6 370)U/L. Among 19 relapsed patients, 10 had local relapse and 9 had multiple relapses; 17 were Burkitt's lymphoma and 2 were diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Staging: 2 cases were stageⅡ, 3 cases were stage Ⅲ and 14 cases were stage Ⅳ. Risk group: 6 cases were group B and 13 cases were group C. Nine cases had bone marrow involvement and 10 cases had central nervous system(CNS) involvement. Acute tumor lysis syndrome was seen in 6 cases during the early treatment and 13 cases had delayed treatment. Treatment after relapse: 10 cases received further treatment after relapse (rituximab + 1-4 courses high intensity second-line chemotherapy), 3 cases received autologous stem cell transplantation. There was no chemotherapy or infection related death, 3 cases achieved complete remission (CR). For all the 212 patients, the median follow-up time was 47 (range, 1-131)months and the 5-year event free survival(EFS)rate was (89.4±0.2)%. For the 19 relapse cases, the 5-year overall survival (OS) rate was (21.1±0.1)%, CR rate after relapse was 30%, patients died of the progression of the primary disease, no treatment related death occurred. Univariate analyses showed that bulky disease, stage Ⅳ, maxillofacial and CNS involvement, LDH>1 000 U/L, delay treatment, day 7 evaluation shrink <25%, residual diseases after 3 months treatment are relapse risk factors (all P<0.01). Conclusion: Patients relapse during the treatment or at the early stage after the end of all chemotherapy have poor prognosis. So far there is no effective method for early relapse patients; the late relapse patients had the possibility of CR if they are sensitive to salvage treatment. In conclusion, to improve the outcome, the key point is to reduce the relapse.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficiency of modified Ottawa Ankle Rules (OAR) for the differential diagnosis of fractures in acute foot and ankle injuries. Methods: From October 2016 to December 2016, 272cases (135 males and 137 females) of foot and ankle injury in emergency department of Tianjin Hospital were prospective enrolled in the study. The median age was 27.5 years (7-87); left limb 155, right 117 cases; injury time ranged from 0.3 to 24 h (median 4 h). Conventional and modified OAR was applied on physical examination, subsequently radiography performed to determine the occurrence of fractures. The efficiency of the two methods were compared and analyzed. Results: Fractures were found in 100 cases (36.8%), 49 cases of ankle and 51 cases of foot fractures. With the imaging results as the standard, the sensitivity for conventional and modified OAR were 93.0% and 100%, specificity were 9.9% and 8.7%, the positive predictive value were 37.5% and 38.9%, the negative predictive value were 70.8% and 100%, the accuracy were 40.4% and 42.3%, missed diagnosis rate were 7% and 0% respectively. The sensitivity, positive likelihood ratio, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, accuracy, negative likelihood ratio and missed diagnosis ratio were better than in modified OAR compared with Conventional OAR, while the specificity was slightly lower compared to Conventional OAR.The Kappa value of modified OAR was 0.065 (P>0.05), which is better than conventional OAR.Conventional OAR can reduce 6.3% (17/272) X-ray and modified OAR decline 5.5% (15/272). Conclusion: Modified OAR significantly reduces the rate of missed diagnosis of foot fractures, but its specificity is poor. Ultrasound can be assisted to improve the specificity and reduce the number of unnecessary X-rays.

Abstract
Floral nectar can affect the fitness of insect-pollinated plants, through both attraction and manipulation of pollinators. Self-incompatible insect-pollinated plants receive more insect visits than their self-compatible relatives, and the nectar of such species might face increased risk of infestation by pathogens carried by pollinators than self-compatible plants. Proteins in nectar (nectarins) play an important role in protecting the nectar, but little is known regarding nectarins in self-incompatible species. The nectarins from a self-incompatible and insect-pollinated leguminous crop, Canavalia gladiata, were separated using two-dimensional electrophoresis and analysed using mass spectrometry. The predominant nectarin gene was cloned and the gene expression pattern investigated using quantitative real-time PCR. Chitinolytic activity in the nectar was tested with different substrates. The C. gladiata nectar proteome only has one predominant nectarin, an acidic class III chitinase (CaChi3). The full-length CaChi3 gene was cloned, coding for a protein of 298 amino acids with a predicted signal peptide. CaChi3 is very similar to members of the class III chitinase family, whose evolution is dominated by purifying selection. CaChi3 was expressed in both nectary and leaves. CaChi3 has thermostable chitinolytic activity according to glycol-chitin zymography or a fluorogenic substratem but has no lysozyme activity. Chitinase might be a critical protein component in nectar. The extremely simple nectar proteome in C. gladiata disproves the hypothesis that self-incompatible species always have more complex nectar proteomes. Accessibility of nectar might be a significant determinant of the evolutionary pressure to develop nectar defence mechanisms.

Abstract
Engineering of novel functional nanocomposite as like as the metallic nanocrystals supported non-stoichiometric perovskite nanomaterial in controlled parameters (size, shape and ratio of chemical characteristics) is a challengeable task. In this context, we present a facile route to fabricate and study its physicochemical property at real time mode in this report. Nanoscale pure Pb crystals surfaced on non-stoichiometric A-site deficient Pb1-xTiO3-y nanoparticle were fabricated when a precursor lead titanate (PbTiO3) nanoparticle was exposed to an electron beam irradiation (EBI) in a transmission electron microscope (TEM) at ambient temperature. In the state of the art, the chemical states and electronic structure of non-irradiated and irradiated PbTiO3 were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Electron bombardment resulted in a new visible feature at low binding energy in the Pb 4f core level, while Ti 2p and O 1s line shape showed slight changes. The Fermi level of the corresponding materials was determined to be 1.65 ± 0.1 eV and 2.05 ± 0.1 eV above the valence band maximum, respectively. The normal, weakly p-type PTO exhibits peculiar n-type feature after EBI process (The Fermi level moves near to the conduction band). A feasible mechanism is proposed involving the electron-stimulated local bond-breaking phenomenon in PbTiO3.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the use of noninvasive high-frequency oscillation ventilation (nHFOV) in very low birth weight infants. Method: A total of 36 cases received nHFOV between January 2016 and October 2016 in Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, including 24 males and 12 females, with the gestational age of (27.5±2.5) weeks and birth weight of(980±318)g. The data of the ventilator settings, side effects, and changes of the respiratory function before and after nHFOV were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Nonparametric tests or t tests or χ(2) tests were used. Result: Thirty-two (89%) out of the 36 cases successfully avoided intubation or re-intubation after using of nHFOV. nHFOV was used as the rescue treatment after failure of other noninvasive ventilation in 17 cases, and as the prophylactical treatment preventing re-intubation after extubation in the remaining 19 cases. There were significant decreases in the incidences of apnea and desaturation(SpO(2)<0.85), the level of PaCO(2, )and the FiO(2) 24 h after the initiation of the nHFOV as the rescue therapy((1.2±1.1)vs.(6.3±2.1)episodes , (1.1±1.2) vs.(4.3±1.5) episodes, (43±8) vs.(56±10) mmHg, 0.30±0.07 vs. 0.39±0.11, respectively; 1 mmHg=0.133 kPa, t=7.562, 8.913, 4.179, 3.437 respectively, all P<0.01). No significant changes were found in FiO(2) and PaCO(2) levels 24 h after initiation of nHFOV as the prophylactical therapy after extubation (0.42±0.12 vs.0.40±0.10, (49±8)vs.(48±7)mmHg, t=0.872 and 0.501 respectively, both P>0.05), except for the significant decreases in the mean airway pressure ((7.9±2.6)vs.(9.6±1.6)cmH(2)O, 1 cmH(2)0=0.098 kPa, t=2.198, P=0.041). There were 4 cases suffered from nasal septum injury, while no other nHFOV related complications were noted. Conclusion: nHFOV can be applied in preterm infants as a rescue treatment after the failure of other noninvasive ventilation, or prophylactically used in patients who have high risk of re-intubation.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of bronchopulmonary foregut malformation(BPFM). Method: The clinical manifestations, imaging findings and treatment of 8 patients with BPFM were analyzed retrospectively from January 2006 to May 2016 in Beijing Children's Hospital. Result: The age of children varied from 2 months to 7 years and 3 children were male while 5 female. Symptoms showed cough in 6 cases, fever in 4 cases, bucking when intaking of fluids or foods in 3 cases, tachypnea in 1 case, wheezing in 1 case, vomiting in 1 case, haematemesis in 1 case Pulmonary signs were decreased breath sounds in 4 cases, phlegm rale in 3 cases, shortness of breath in 2 cases, wheeze in 1 case, and retraction in 1 case. The upper gastrointestinal series showed abnormal fistulous tracts arising from the esophagus or the gastric fundus and extending into the mass in the lung. CT showed pulmonary sequestration and prompted the tube between lung and esophagus. Six children underwent pneumonectomy and esophageal fistula repair. They were discharged and their symptoms were improved. Two cases of children were discharged from a hospital without surgery. Conclusion: Bronchopulmonary foregut malformation usually has its onset in early stage of life. The most common symptoms include recurrent pneumonia or bucking when intaking of fluids or foods. CT can demonstrate the bronchopulmonary sequestration and evaluate the communication with the gastrointestinal tract. The upper gastrointestinal series can demonstrate the abnormal tract directly. Pneumonectomy and esophageal fistula repair are the treatment of this disease.

Abstract
In this study, we report an effective approach, pre-solid solution (SS) treatment, to reduce the in-vitro bio-degradation rate of the hydrothermal-synthesizing coated Mg–2Zn–Mn–Ca–Ce alloy in Hanks’ solution. Pre-SS treatment alters the microstructure of alloys, which benefits the corrosion resistances of the substrate itself and the formed coating as well. The micro-galvanic corrosion between the secondary phase (cathode) and the α-Mg phase (anode) is relieved due to the reduction of the secondary phase. Meanwhile, coating formed on the SS-treated alloy was compacter than that on as-cast alloy, which provides better protection against initial corrosion.

Abstract
Defective protein quality control (PQC) systems are implicated in multiple diseases. Molecular chaperones and co-chaperones play a central role in functioning PQC. Constant mechanical and metabolic stress in cardiomyocytes places great demand on the PQC system. Mutation and downregulation of the co-chaperone protein BCL-2-associated athanogene 3 (BAG3) are associated with cardiac myopathy and heart failure, and a BAG3 E455K mutation leads to dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). However, the role of BAG3 in the heart and the mechanisms by which the E455K mutation leads to DCM remain obscure. Here, we found that cardiac-specific Bag3-KO and E455K-knockin mice developed DCM. Comparable phenotypes in the 2 mutants demonstrated that the E455K mutation resulted in loss of function. Further experiments revealed that the E455K mutation disrupted the interaction between BAG3 and HSP70. In both mutants, decreased levels of small heat shock proteins (sHSPs) were observed, and a subset of proteins required for cardiomyocyte function was enriched in the insoluble fraction. Together, these observations suggest that interaction between BAG3 and HSP70 is essential for BAG3 to stabilize sHSPs and maintain cardiomyocyte protein homeostasis. Our results provide insight into heart failure caused by defects in BAG3 pathways and suggest that increasing BAG3 protein levels may be of therapeutic benefit in heart failure.
