Primary Kaposi's sarcoma of the lymph node in children

A case of primary Kaposi's sarcoma of the lymph node (single node involvement) is reported on here. It occurred in a white, Italian boy 10 years of age. An extensive review of the literature showed that this was only the second childhood case of the disease among non-acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related people of the Western world.

[Echographic diagnosis of diffused liver diseases: histologic correlations]

A personal series of 53 patients is reviewed. The patients were subjected to echography of the liver together with clinical and histological studies after closed biopsy. The cases are analysed and grouped according to stage and severity of the liver condition encountered. All groups showed a good match between echographic and clinicohistological results. The main echographic criteria for liver disease are summarised and illustrated in the light of personal experience and the data published in the most recent literature.

An unusual case of primary osteosarcoma of the talus

An osteosarcoma of the talus occurred in a 21-year-old man. The tumor had been mistaken for a fibrosarcoma, but its osteogenic nature was demonstrated by multiple sectioning of the entire talus. Nineteen months after amputation the patient died from pulmonary metastases. Osteosarcoma in the talus seems not to have been previously reported.

Histiocytoid cardiomyopathy in infancy: a new hypothesis?

A case of histiocytoid cardiomyopathy in a ten-month-old boy is reported. Histologic and ultrastructural examinations led us to consider the possibility that the disease, rather than being a focal lesion of the common myocardium as it was heretofore considered, might be regarded as a diffuse lesion on the specific myocardium.
