A transition-metal-free conversion of 2-arylindoles to 2-aminoarylphenones, using environmentally benign O2 as the sole oxidant, has been developed. This novel oxidative dearomatization process involves cleavage of two C–C and one C–N bonds followed by new C–C and C–O bond formation.

Abstract
A transition-metal-free decarboxylation coupling process for the preparation of α-amino acid esters, which succeeded in merging hydrolysis/decarboxylation/nucleophilic substitution, is well described. Abstract
This manuscript describes a Ni-catalyzed method for the direct arylation of azoles using benzoates. Perfluorophenyl and 2-nitrobenzoates participate in these reactions to afford the corresponding products in modest to good yields. The efficiency of the arylations with perfluorobenzoates is highly dependent on both the degree and position of fluorine atoms in the benzoates.

A Ni-catalyzed
method for the coupling of perfluorobenzoates with
aryl halides and pseudohalides is described. Aryl iodides, bromides,
chlorides, triflates, and tosylates participate in these transformations
to afford the products in good yields. Penta-, tetra-, and trifluorinated
biaryl compounds are obtained using these newly developed Ni-catalyzed
decarboxylative cross-coupling reactions.

Abstract
A rhodium(III)-catalyzed carboxylic acid directed decarboxylative C-H/C-H cross-coupling of carboxylic acids with thiophenes has been developed. With a slight adjustment of the reaction conditions based on the nature of the substrates, aryl carboxylic acids with a variety of substituents could serve as suitable coupling partners, and a broad variety of functional groups were tolerated. This method provides straightforward access to biaryl scaffolds with diverse substitution patterns, many of which have conventionally been synthesized through lengthy synthetic sequences. An illustrative example is the one-step gram-scale synthesis of a biologically active 3,5-substituted 2-arylthiophene by way of the current method.
