Abstract
Asymmetric Prins cyclization of in situ generated quinone methides and o-aminobenzaldehyde has been developed with chiral phosphoric acid as an efficient catalyst. This unconventional method provides a facile access to diverse functionalized trans-fused pyrano-/furo-tetrahydroquinoline derivatives in excellent yield and with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities (up to 99% yield and 99% ee). Mechanistic studies suggested that the three adjacent tertiary stereocenters were constructed through the sequential formation of C-O, C-C, and C-N bonds.

Abstract
In recent years, the synthesis of quinoline scaffold using various methodological
devices has attracted considerable attention in synthetic chemist community. The most feasible
method to serve this purpose is Aza-Diels-Alder reaction which provides flexibility and diversity
in the synthesis of quinoline decorated with different functionalities over the scaffold.
Diversity in this functionality improvises the susceptibility of the quinoline scaffold for various
protein targets. This review encompasses multifactorial aspects of Aza-Diels-Alder reaction
as well as provides insights into the synthetic schemes for quinoline scaffold.

Abstract
A 1,2-reductive dearomatization of quinolines and copper(II) acetate monohydrate/( R, R)-Ph-BPE/P( p-tolyl)3-catalyzed enantioselective hydroamination sequence was developed, affording diverse 4-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines with high levels of enantioselectivity in either a stepwise or one-pot fashion. Pleasingly, internal cis-cyclic alkenes, which are challenging substrates in copper hydride-catalyzed enantioselective hydroamination reactions, were transformed efficiently under mild conditions.

Abstract
An unusual hybrid palladium catalyst containing an anionic chiral CoIII complex and a chiral phosphoramidite ligand shows a high capacity for catalyzing asymmetric thioamide-directed C(sp3 )-H arylation and delivers excellent yield and enantioselectivity (up to 99 % yield, 99 % ee). Significant synergy between the chiral ligand and the anion in terms of stereochemical control was observed. Mechanistic investigations have revealed both the nature of the C-H activation and the origin of the enantioselectivity.

Abstract
A cascade biocatalysis system involving asymmetric hydroxylation and diastereoselective oxidation was developed using Rhodococcus equi ZMU-LK19, which gave chiral 2-substituted-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-4-ols (2) (up to 57% isolated yield, 99 : 1 dr, and >99% ee) and chiral 2-substituted-2,3-dihydroquinolin-4(1H)-ones (3) (up to 25% isolated yield, and >99% ee) from (±)-2-substituted-tetrahydroquinolines (1). In addition, a possible mechanism for this cascade biocatalysis was tentatively proposed.

Abstract
Brønsted acids of anionic chiral CoIII complexes act as bifunctional phase-transfer catalysts to shuttle the substrates across the solvent interface and control stereoselectivity. The diastereomeric chiral CoIII -templated Brønsted acids, with the same chiral ligands, enabled a switch in the enantioselective bromoaminocyclization of olefins to afford the two enantiomers of 2-substituted pyrrolidines with high enantioselectivities (up to 99:1 e.r.).

Abstract
Aza-Diels-Alder-type cycloaddition reactions between a range of N-arylimines and functionalized alkenes were effectively catalyzed by the Cr(III)/bipyridine complex under irradiation of blue light, to give the corresponding 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline derivatives in high yields with excellent diastereoselectivity. Typically, the reaction of benzylideneaniline with 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidinone proceeded smoothly with a substrate-to-catalyst molar ratio (S/C) of 1000 and completed within 4 h at room temperature (20-25 °C), affording the cycloaddition product in 97% yield.

Abstract
In this review, the recent developments in catalytic asymmetric inverse-electron-demand hetero-Diels-Alder reaction, which is recognized as one of the most powerful routes to construct highly functionalized and enantioenriched six-membered heterocycles, are described. The article is organized on the basis of different kinds of electron-deficient heterodienes, including α,β-unsaturated ketones/aldehydes, o-benzoquinones, α,β-unsaturated imines, N-aryl imines, o-benzoqinone imides, and other aza-olefins.

Abstract
"Size-focusing" is a well-recognized process and widely employed for the synthesis of atomically monodisperse metal nanoclusters. However, quantitatively monitoring the size-focusing of Au nanoclusters has not been achieved yet, and the in-depth understanding of the size focusing is far from completed. Herein, we introduce a facile, cheap, and powerful tool, preparative thin-layer chromatography (PTLC), to quantitatively track the size-focusing process, to reveal that mainly ∼3 nm nanoparticles promote the transformation from Au44(TBBT)28 to Au36(TBBT)24 (where TBBT is 4-tert-butylbenzenethiolate) and to improve the syntheses of Au44(TBBT)28 and Au36(TBBT)24. Our work further demonstrates the usefulness of PTLC in nanocluster research and advances one step toward understanding the "size-focusing" process of nanoclusters.
