Abstract
OBJECTIVE Salvage surgery in recurrent SCCHN is associated with poor outcomes. This study aimed to better identify suitable surgical candidates and those at high risk of new recurrence. MATERIALS AND METHODS Single-center retrospective analysis of 109 patients undergoing salvage surgery for recurrent SCCHN. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify prognostic factors affecting disease-free survival (DFS). RESULTS The following factors showed a significant impact on DFS: Disease-free interval >6months [HR 0.53; p=0.04], age>70years [HR 0.26; p=0.03], primary chemoradiotherapy [HR 2.39; p<0.01] compared to radiotherapy, oropharynx [HR 5.46; p<0.01] and hypopharynx [HR 3.92; p=<0.01] sites, compared to larynx, initial stage III [HR 7.10; p<0.01] and stage IV [HR 4.13; p<0.01], compared to stage I, locoregional recurrence [HR 4.57; p<0.01], compared to local recurrence. Univariate analysis also identified significant postoperative predictors of poor DFS including flap reconstruction [HR 3.44; p<0.01], postoperative complications [HR 2.09; p=0.01], positive margins [HR 3.64; p<0.01] and close margins [HR 3.83; p<0.01]. On multivariate analysis, oropharynx site [HR 3.98; p<0.01], initial stage III [HR 5.93; p<0.01] and locoregional recurrence [HR 2.93; p=0.04] were independent preoperative prognostic factors for DFS. Positive margins [HR 2.32; p=0.04], close margins [HR 2.94; p=0.02], extracapsular spread (ECS) [HR 4.04; p=0.03] and postoperative complications [HR 3.64; p<0.01] were independent postoperative prognostic factors. CONCLUSIONS Patients with advanced primary nonlaryngeal tumor and locoregional recurrence have limited success with salvage surgery. Because patients with positive margins and ECS are at high risk of relapse, adjuvant treatment should be discussed.

Abstract
AIMS AND BACKGROUND Improving survival has been documented for oral squamous cell carcinoma in recent years. It is a common malignancy in Pakistan but survival outcomes have not been reported. The objective of this study was to determine survival and identify independent predictors in patients with oral squamous cell cancer in 2 different time periods. METHODS A retrospective review of patients who received treatment between 2003 and 2012 was performed. Patients were divided into two 5 year groups: group 1 (2003-2007) (n = 628) and group 2 (2008-2012) (n = 920). Demographics, risk factors, treatment approaches, and outcomes were compared. Disease-free and overall survival were calculated. Cox proportional hazard model was used to determine independent predictors of survival. RESULTS A significant difference was present for ethnicity and grade and clinical T and N stage of tumors, with earlier presentation in group 2. More patients underwent surgery (p = 0.001) and had radical treatment intent (p<0.0001) in recent years. Induction chemotherapy (p<0.0001) and palliative chemotherapy (p<0.0001) were used more frequently. No significant difference in disease-free survival was observed but overall 5-year survival improved significantly (23% vs 42%) (p<0.0001). Use of palliative chemotherapy reduced risk of death significantly (hazard ratio [HR] 0.1, confidence interval [CI] 0.02-0.4, p = 0.003), while pathologic nodal positivity significantly increased the risk (HR 2.5, CI 1-5.9, p = 0.03). CONCLUSIONS These results from a single cancer hospital demonstrate improvement in overall survival secondary to early detection, better patient selection, and use of palliative chemotherapy in the later period.

After a local and/or regional recurrence of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) not all patients are candidates to salvage treatment. The objective of this study was to identify the variables related to performance of salvage surgery with curative intent in these patients. We performed a retrospective study of 1088 HNSCC patients with a local and/or regional recurrence. According to a multivariate analysis, the variables related to performance of salvage surgery were the Karnofsky index, the location and extension of the primary tumor, the initial treatment, the disease-free interval between treatment of the initial tumor and diagnosis of the recurrence, and the year the recurrence was diagnosed. Considering salvage surgery as the dependent variable, the results of a recursive partitioning analysis defined four categories of patients in function of the category of local and regional extension of the initial tumor, the location of the primary tumor, the initial treatment and the disease-free interval between treatment of the initial tumor and diagnosis of the recurrence.

Abstract
Oral cavity carcinoma (OCC) remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with head and neck cancer. Although the incidence has decreased over the last decade, outcomes remain stagnant with only a 5% improvement in overall survival in the last 20 years. Although surgical resection remains the primary treatment modality, several areas of controversy exist with regard to work-up, management of the primary and neck tumors, and adjuvant therapy. As surgical techniques evolve, so has the delivery of radiotherapy and systemic treatment, which have helped to improve the outcomes for patients with advanced disease. Recently, the addition of cetuximab has shown promise as a way to improve outcomes while minimizing toxicity, and this remains an active area of study in the adjuvant setting. Advances in microvascular free-flap reconstruction have extended the limits of resection and enabled enhanced restoration of function and cosmesis. While these advances have led to limited survival benefit, evaluation of alternative modalities has gained interest on the basis of success in other head and neck subsites. Organ preservation with definitive chemoradiotherapy, though proven in the larynx and pharynx, remains controversial in OCC. Likewise, although the association of human papillomavirus is well established in oropharyngeal carcinoma, it has not been proven in the pathogenesis or survival of OCC. Future study of the molecular biology and pathogenesis of OCC should offer additional insight into screening, treatment selection, and novel therapeutic approaches.

Abstract
UNLABELLED The aim of this single-center study was to investigate whether obtaining an additional PET/CT scan before adjuvant radiotherapy or concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) could meaningfully improve 2-y disease-free survival (DFS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) rates. METHODS Six hundred seventy-four patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma who received adjuvant therapy after radical surgery were included. Of these, 152 patients were initially scheduled to receive an additional preradiotherapy/CCRT PET/CT scan within 1 wk of starting adjuvant therapy. However, 16 patients were excluded because of either medical problems or refusal. Therefore, 136 patients underwent a preradiotherapy/CCRT PET/CT scan (PET group), and 522 did not (NO-PET group). All of the participants were followed up for at least 2 y or censored at the last follow-up. The impact of preradiotherapy/CCRT PET/CT imaging was examined using Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS Two-year DFS (80% vs. 70%, P = 0.033) and DSS (84% vs. 75%, P = 0.010) rates were significantly higher in the PET than in the NO-PET group. In the PET group, both DFS and DSS were higher in patients with negative findings than in those without (88% vs. 22% and 91% vs. 36%, respectively; both P < 0.001). A prognostic scoring system based on the presence of the 2 independent risk factors in the PET group (extracapsular spread and lymphatic invasion) predicted both DFS (P = 0.001 and P < 0.001, respectively) and DSS (P = 0.001 and P < 0.001, respectively). Nineteen patients (14%) had their treatment modified by preradiotherapy/CCRT PET/CT findings. Of these, 15 were treated with curative intent due to the presence of locoregional disease, and 4 received palliative care due to distant metastases. Seven of the 15 patients are currently alive without disease. CONCLUSION An additional preradiotherapy/CCRT PET/CT scan improves both DFS and DSS in patients with advanced oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We determined the clinicopathological factors that predicted outcome after salvage treatment for stage IV oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Additionally, the prognostic significance of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)/microsomal prostaglandin-E synthase-1 (mPGES-1) pathway was evaluated. METHODS Thirty-one patients who underwent salvage surgery were included. COX-2 and mPGES-1 levels were quantified by real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). RESULTS The 2-year disease-free and overall survival rates were 46% and 53%, respectively. Adequacy of initial treatment, tobacco smoking, and the presence of pathological risk factors were predictive of mortality. In patients who had not received chemotherapy before salvage surgery, high levels of intratumoral COX-2 and mPGES-1 were associated with poor prognosis. By contrast, high intratumoral COX-2 and mPGES-1 after chemotherapy were associated with improved outcomes. CONCLUSION Clinicopathological factors may inform treatment decisions in patients with stage IV OSCC. Abstract
OBJECTIVES We sought to investigate whether there is evidence of field cancerization in patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) enrolled in a betel quid chewing area. We also assessed whether betel quid chewing is an independent risk factor for field cancerization in OSCC patients. METHODS We retrospectively examined the records of 1570 OSCC patients who underwent radical tumor resection between 1996 and 2011. A total of 1243 study participants (79%) had a positive history of betel quid chewing before surgery. Of the 767 patients treated with surgery alone, 599 (78%) were preoperative chewers, whereas a history of preoperative betel quid chewing was identified in 644 (80%) of the 803 patients who received adjuvant therapy. The 5-year control, survival, and second primary tumors (SPTs) rates served as the main outcome measures. RESULTS Regardless of the treatment modality, more than 70% of the SPTs were located in the oral cavity or soft palate. Despite a similar risk profile in terms of tumor depth, lymph node metastasis, and pathological margin status, preoperative chewers showed a significantly higher incidence of 5-year SPTs and local recurrences compared with non-chewers. Moreover, multivariate analysis demonstrated that preoperative betel quid chewing was an independent prognostic factor for 5-year local control and SPTs occurrence rates. CONCLUSIONS Our results demonstrate that preoperative betel quid chewers had a higher incidence of local recurrence and SPTs than non-chewers, suggesting that field cancerization may occur in OSCC patients with a history of betel quid chewing.

Abstract
Despite substantial improvements in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) treatment, the major obstacle to long-term survival remains disease recurrence. Salvage options are often limited due to prior therapy and the escalated morbidity of retreatment. The costs of treatment must be measured against the anticipated quality and quantity of life recovered, even with resectable disease. This review surveys the recurrent HNSCC literature to better guide decision making. Across multiple studies, negative prognostic factors include impaired performance status, advanced recurrent stage, brief disease-free interval, previous chemotherapy, and nonlaryngeal sites of recurrence. When possible, surgical salvage remains the principal option for durable disease control, quality of life preservation, and cure. Nonsurgical therapies have also demonstrated measurable improvements in locoregional control. Interpretation of salvage literature must be tempered by recognition of significant selection bias. The decision for salvage therapy must be individualized, with management that involves well-informed patients resulting in the best outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In head and neck cancer (HNC), 3-month post-treatment positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) reliably identifies persistent/recurrent disease. However, further PET/CT surveillance has unclear benefit. The impact of post-treatment PET/CT surveillance on outcomes is assessed at 12 and 24 months. METHODS A 10-year retrospective analysis of HNC patients was carried out with long-term serial imaging. Imaging at 3 months included either PET/CT or magnetic resonance imaging, with all subsequent imaging comprised of PET/CT. PET/CT scans at 12 and 24 months were evaluated only if preceding interval scans were negative. Of 1114 identified patients, 284 had 3-month scans, 175 had 3- and 12-month scans, and 77 had 3-, 12-, and 24-month scans. RESULTS PET/CT detection rates in clinically occult patients were 9% (15 of 175) at 12 months, and 4% (3 of 77) at 24 months. No difference in outcomes was identified between PET/CT-detected and clinically detected recurrences, with similar 3-year disease-free survival (41% vs 46%, P = .91) and 3-year overall survival (60% vs 54%, P = .70) rates. Compared with 3-month PET/CT, 12-month PET/CT demonstrated fewer equivocal reads (26% vs 10%, P < .001). Of scans deemed equivocal, 6% (5 of 89) were ultimately found to be positive. CONCLUSIONS HNC patients with negative 3-month imaging appear to derive limited benefit from subsequent PET/CT surveillance. No survival differences were observed between PET/CT-detected and clinically detected recurrences, although larger prospective studies are needed for further investigation.

Abstract
AIM To understand the frequency, clinical significance, and benefits of salvage therapy in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients with regional nodal recurrence at unusual sites (prelaryngeal area, parotid area, and retropharyngeal area). METHODS We examined 178 patients with neck recurrence at levels I-V (usual group) and 26 patients outside levels I-V (unusual group). The 5-year survival rates served as the main outcome measure. RESULTS Of the 26 unusual group patients, the neck recurrence sites were as follows: 5 at the prelaryngeal area, 13 at the parotid area, and 8 at the retropharyngeal area. Multivariate analyses demonstrated that poor differentiation, pN2, extracapsular spread (ECS), tumor depth≥10 mm, relapse time≤10 months, local recurrence, neck recurrence at unusual sites, and distant metastases were independent prognostic factors for 5-year disease-specific survival (DSS), whereas pN2, ECS, tumor depth≥10 mm, relapse time≤10 months, neck recurrence at unusual sites, and distant metastases were independent prognostic factors for 5-year overall survival (OS). The 6-month and 18-month survival rates after the N-relapse date for the salvaged-usual group, the salvaged-unusual group, and the nonsalvaged patients were 73%/46%, 40%/0%, and 10%/0% (P<0.0001), respectively [DSS: salvaged-unusual group (hazard ratio/95 % confidence interval), 2.060/1.058-4.008, P=0.033; salvaged-usual group, 6.420/4.340-9.496, P<0.001; OS: salvaged-unusual group, 2.100/1.080-4.081, P=0.029; salvaged-usual group, 6.514/4.418-9.606, P<0.001]. CONCLUSIONS Our findings demonstrate that OSCC patients with regional nodal recurrence at unusual sites had poor outcomes.

Abstract
PURPOSE Extracapsular spread (ECS) to the cervical lymph nodes is a major adverse prognostic factor in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). We prospectively examined the value of FDG PET immediately before postoperative radiotherapy/concurrent chemoradiotherapy (pre-RT/CCRT PET) to detect residual/relapsing disease in the early postsurgical follow-up period in high-risk OSCC patients with ECS. METHODS We examined 183 high-risk OSCC patients with ECS who underwent preoperative FDG PET/CT for staging purposes. Of these patients, 29 underwent a second pre-RT/CCRT FDG PET/CT scan. The clinical utility of the second FDG PET/CT was examined using Kaplan-Meier curve analysis. RESULTS Patients who underwent the second FDG PET/CT scan had baseline clinicopathological characteristics similar to those who did not undergo a second scan. Of the patients who underwent the second scan, seven (24 %) had unexpected, newly discovered lesions. Five eventually died of the disease, and two had no evidence of recurrence after a change in RT field and dose. In an event-based analysis at 2 months, rates of neck control (6/29 vs. 6/154, p = 0.001), distant metastases (3/29 vs. 4/154, p = 0.046), and disease-free survival (7/29 vs. 10/154, p = 0.003) were significantly higher in patients who received a second PET scan than in those who did not. The second pre-RT/CCRT PET scan was of particular benefit for detecting new lesions in OSCC patients with both ECS and lymph node standardized uptake value (SUV) of ≥ 5.2 in the first PET scan. CONCLUSION The present findings support the clinical value of pre-RT/CCRT FDG PET for defining treatment strategy in OSCC patients with both ECS and high nodal SUV, even when FDG PET had already been performed during the initial staging work-up.

Abstract
We evaluated the diagnostic performance of (18)F-FDG PET/CT and MRI for the assessment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) relapse. Since early treatment might prevent inoperable relapse, we also evaluated THE performance of early unenhanced (18)F-FDG PET/CT in residual tumor detection. The study was prospectively performed on 32 patients who underwent (18)F-FDG PET/CT and MRI before treatment and at 4 and 12 months after treatment. (18)F-FDG PET/CT was also performed 2 weeks after the end of radiotherapy. Histopathology or a minimum of 18 months follow-up were used as gold standard. Before treatment (18)F-FDG PET/CT and MRI detected all primary tumors except for two limited vocal fold lesions (sensitivity 94%). MRI was more sensitive than (18)F-FDG PET/CT for the detection of local extension sites (sensitivity 75 vs 58%), but at the cost of a higher rate of false positive results (positive predictive value 74 vs 86%). For relapse detection at 4 months, sensitivity was significantly higher for (18)F-FDG PET/CT (92%) than for MRI (70%), but the diagnostic performances were not significantly different at 12 months. For the detection of residual malignant tissue 2 weeks post-radiotherapy, sensitivity and specificity of (18)F-FDG PET/CT were respectively 86 and 85% (SUV cut-off value 5.8). (18)F-FDG PET/CT is effective in the differentiation between residual tumor and radiation-induced changes, as early as 2 weeks after treatment of a primary HNSCC. For follow-up, performance of (18)F-FDG PET/CT and MRI are similar except for a higher sensitivity of (18)F-FDG PET/CT at 4 months.

Patient demographics, lesion site, clinical and pathologic stage, pathologic grading, pattern of invasion, lymphocytic infiltrate, perineural invasion, and treatment and survival data were collected. Descriptive statistics were calculated for each variable and survival was calculated using Kaplan-Meier and Cox models. Patients were divided into 2 groups: with (n = 25) and without (n = 28) recurrence. RESULTS Tongue (p = 0.02) and poorly differentiated (p = 0.04) tumors were associated with recurrence. Kaplan-Meier and Cox models revealed tobacco use and the absence of lymphocytic infiltrate to be associated with the poorest survival in recurrent OSCC. CONCLUSION The tumor site, tobacco use, and pathological features were involved in the recurrence of OSCC and should be taken into account for OSCC treatment and follow-up.

Abstract
The oral cavity is the most common site of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, a disease which results in significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Though the primary modality of treatment for patients with oral cavity cancer remains surgical resection, many patients present with advanced disease and are thus treated using a multi-disciplinary approach. Patients with extracapsular spread of lymphatic metastasis and surgical margins that remain positive have been found to be at high risk for local-regional recurrence and death from disease, and are most often recommended to receive both post-operative radiation as well as systemic chemotherapy. The basis for this approach, as well as scientific developments that underly future trials of novels treatments for patients with high-risk oral cavity cancer are reviewed.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to clarify the expression and epigenetic regulation of DLEC1, a candidate tumor suppressor gene (TSG) located at 3p21.3-p22, in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and the clinical relevance of its down-expression. Quantitative RT-PCR was performed to exam the expression level of DLEC1 in matched OSCC and normal oral samples from 57 prospectively enrolled patients (with additional matched leukoplakia samples from 9 patients). We defined DLEC1 down-expression as a 2-fold decrease in expression of DLEC1 between normal tissues and tumors, and determined its correlation with clinical characteristics. Methylation-specific PCR (MSP) and bisulfite sequencing were used to evaluate the promoter methylation status of DLEC1 in 19 OSCC, 19 oral leukoplakia (OL), and 17 normal oral tissues. A statistically significant association between DLEC1 down-expression and invasive depth of OSCC was observed (P=0.026). Besides, expression of DLEC1 decreased sequentially from normal tissues to OL and then to OSCC (P<0.05), which was inversely correlated with methylation status of the DLEC1 promoter. Promoter methylation of DLEC1 increased progressively among normal tissues, OL, and OSCC, as revealed by MSP, and confirmed by sequencing. Treatment of OSCC cell lines with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza-dC) reversed the methylation and restored DLEC1 expression. Our results demonstrating that down-expression and promoter methylation of DLEC1 increased from normal tissues to premalignancies and then to malignancies. Furthermore, its transcriptional repression is associated with the depth of tumor invasion.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Study the survival of patients with cervical lymphatic squamous cell carcinoma recurrence. STUDY DESIGN Review of tumor registry database. SETTING Academic health science center. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Forty-seven isolated neck recurrence patients identified from 224 recurrences from a total of 1291 patients treated between 1998 and 2007. The main outcome measurements were neck lymph nodal recurrence, treatment-specific survival, and overall survival. RESULTS A total of 47 patients had neck recurrence; 10 of the neck recurrence patients (21.3%) had regional disease (N+) at initial presentation. Median survival for patients with neck recurrence was 14.7 months (95% confidence interval [CI] 8.6-18.1 mo), and five-year survival for this group was five percent (95% CI 0%-30%). Neck dissection salvage therapy for neck recurrence resulted in the best survival. CONCLUSION Neck dissection as a salvage therapy for neck recurrence resulted in the best survival, and there was no survival benefit in terms of whether a patient had a neck dissection or not as his or her initial therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Relapse of tumours in patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is associated with a dismal outcome. In this prospective study, we sought to investigate the clinical significance of the preoperative maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax) at the neck lymph nodes in selecting patients with OSCC for salvage therapy after relapse. METHODS Between 2002 and 2007, 108 patients with early relapse of OSCC (n=75) or late relapse of OSCC (n=33) were identified. Salvage therapy was performed in 47 patients. All patients underwent 2-deoxy-2[(18)F]-fluoro-D: -glucose positron emission tomography during the 2 weeks before surgery and neck dissection. All patients were followed for 12 months or more after surgery or until death. The optimal cut-off value for the neck lymph node SUVmax (SUVnodal-max) was selected according to the 5-year disease-specific survival (DSS) rate. Independent risk factors were identified by Cox regression analysis. RESULTS The mean follow-up for all patients was 20.3 months (41.1 months for surviving patients). In the early relapse group, several prognostic factors were identified in univariate and multivariate analyses, including a SUVnodal-max value of >or=4.2. A scoring system based on univariate analysis was formulated. Patients with a score of 0 had a better 5-year DSS than those with scores of 1 or higher (58% vs. 5%, p=0.0003). In patients with late relapse, a SUVnodal-max value of >or=4.2 had the highest prognostic value for predicting the 5-year DSS (45% vs. 0%, p=0.0005). CONCLUSION Among patients with relapsed OSCC, the SUVnodal-max value may aid in selecting patients for salvage therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Survival in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) depends heavily on locoregional control. In this prospective study, we sought to investigate whether preoperative maximum standardized uptake value of the neck lymph nodes (SUVnodal-max) may predict prognosis in OSCC patients. METHODS AND MATERIALS A total of 120 OSCC patients with pathologically positive lymph nodes were investigated. All subjects underwent a [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) scan within 2 weeks before radical surgery and neck dissection. All patients were followed up for at least 24 months after surgery or until death. Postoperative adjuvant therapy was performed in the presence of pathologic risk factors. Optimal cutoff values of SUVnodal-max were chosen based on 5-year disease-free survival (DFS), disease-specific survival (DSS), and overall survival (OS). Independent prognosticators were identified by Cox regression analysis. RESULTS The median follow-up for surviving patients was 41 months. The optimal cutoff value for SUVnodal-max was 5.7. Multivariate analyses identified the following independent predictors of poor outcome: SUVnodal-max >or=5.7 for the 5-year neck cancer control rate, distant metastatic rate, DFS, DSS, and extracapsular spread (ECS) for the 5-year DSS and OS. Among ECS patients, the presence of a SUVnodal-max >or=5.7 identified patients with the worst prognosis. CONCLUSION A SUVnodal-max of 5.7, either alone or in combination with ECS, is an independent prognosticator for 5-year neck cancer control and survival rates in OSCC patients with pathologically positive lymph nodes.

Abstract
Glucose-regulated protein 78 (Grp78) is an endoplasmic reticulum chaperone protein and is overexpressed in various cancers. However, it is unclear how significance of this molecule play an active role contributing to the oncogenic effect of head and neck cancer (HNC). To investigate the potential function of Grp78, six HNC cell lines were used. We found that Grp78 is highly expressed in all six cell lines and many of the proteins were localized in the periphery regions, implying other function of this molecule aside from endoplasmic reticulum stress response. Knockdown of Grp78 by small interfering RNA significantly reduced cell growth and colony formation to 53% to 12% compared with that of controls in all six HNC cell lines. Using in vitro wound healing and Matrigel invasion assays, we found that cell migration and invasive ability were also inhibited to 23% to 2% in all these cell lines tested. In vivo xenograft studies showed that administration of Grp78-small interfering RNA plasmid into HNC xenografts significantly inhibited both tumor growth in situ (>60% inhibition at day 34) and liver metastasis (>90% inhibition at day 20). Our study showed that Grp78 actively regulates multiple malignant phenotypes, including cell growth, migration, and invasion. Because knockdown Grp78 expression succeeds in the reduction of tumor growth and metastatic potential, this molecule may serve as a molecular target of therapeutic intervention for HNC.
