Abstract
A highly enantioselective and atom-economical [2 + 2] cycloaddition of various alkynes with trifluoropyruvate using a dicationic (S)-BINAP-Pd catalyst has been established. This is the first enantioselective synthesis of stable oxetene derivatives, whose structure has been clarified by X-ray analysis. This catalytic process offers a practical synthetic method for oxetene derivatives (catalyst loading: up to 0.1 mol %), which can serve as novel chiral building blocks for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals and can also be transformed into a variety of enantiomerically enriched CF(3)-substituted compounds with high stereoselectivity.

Abstract
A newly designed radical cascade involving N-acyl cyanamides is reported. It builds on aromatic homolytic substitutions as intermediate events and leads to complex heteroaromatic structures via an unprecedented radical migration of a substituent on aryl groups of quinazolinones (hydrogen or alkyl). Mechanistic considerations are detailed, which allowed us to devise fine control over the domino processes. The latter could be predictably stopped at several stages, depending on the reaction conditions. Finally, a surgical introduction of a trifluoromethyl substituent on a quinazolinone was achieved via the reported migration.

Abstract
A comprehensive overview on methods applied for syntheses of β-amino-α-trifluoromethyl alcohols, including stereocontrolled variants, is presented. In addition, reported cases of the exploration of β-amino-α-trifluoromethyl alcohols for the preparation of trifluoromethylated peptidomimetics and other biologically active, fluorinated compounds are discussed. Attractive opportunities for their applications as organocatalysts are also presented.

Abstract
The first enantioselective, organocatalytic alpha-trifluoromethylation and alpha-perfluoroalkylation of aldehydes have been accomplished using a readily available iridium photocatalyst and a chiral imidazolidinone catalyst. A range of alpha-trifluoromethyl and alpha-perfluoroalkyl aldehydes were obtained from commercially available perfluoroalkyl halides with high efficiency and enantioselectivity. The resulting alpha-trifluoromethyl aldehydes were subsequently shown to be versatile precursors for the construction of a variety of enantioenriched trifluoromethylated building blocks.

Abstract
The first enantioselective Michael addition of alpha-cyanoketones to alpha,beta-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones using a novel piperazine-thiourea catalyst was described. The resulting alpha-trifluoromethyldihydropyrans were obtained in high yields and with up to 95% ee within a short reaction time. A useful transformation of the chiral adduct was also illustrated.
