Abstract
The extraction of membrane proteins remain a challenge due to innate hydrophobicity, dynamic discrepancy, and restrain effect of membrane lipids. Nanomaterials with high surface area have competency of hydrophobic-hydrophobic lipid interactions. It is shown here that both graphene and graphene oxide dissolved in solubilization buffer are viable sorbents for efficient extraction of membrane proteins. LC-MS/MS analysis further revealed that graphene (50-200 nm) and graphene oxide (50-200 nm) can enrich more kinds of membrane proteins than a commercially available kit. Graphene was further applied to the enrichment of membrane proteins of normal cells as well as cancer cells, and 1079 and 872 proteins were identified, respectively, among which 56.5% and 60.5% were membrane proteins. In particular, 241 proteins were significantly regulated in cancer cells. Gene expression of 15 proteins was verified by qRT-PCR, and 4 of them were further quantified by immunoassay. These data collectively demonstrate that graphene has great potential to improve membrane protein extractions and thus can serve downstream cancer proteomics. Graphical abstract Two dimensional carbon nanomaterials, including graphene and graphene oxide, were employed as solid matrix to avoid lipid bilayer interference and enhance the extraction efficiency of membrane and membrane associated proteins. The strategy will benefit downstream membrane proteomics analysis.

Abstract
In this study, we found a novel and efficient way of recycling graphene oxide (GO) by adding ZnO colloid into the GO solution. GO flocculates immediately when mixed with ZnO colloids. Interestingly, the flocculation would disappear and disperse homogeneously in solution if a certain amount of HCl is added. The study offers a solution to recover and reuse GO throughout its production procedures. More importantly, in the obtained reduced GO/ZnO (rGO/ZnO) flocculant, ZnO nanorods are observed self-assembled into an ordered structure in between the rGO sheets. This prevents the rGO sheets from re-stacking and facilitates the movement of the electrolyte into ZnO if the prepared rGO/ZnO is used as an electrode for supercapacitor. Electrochemical measurements have proved that the rGO/ZnO composite with a weight ratio of 1:1 exhibits a gravimetric specific capacitance of 175 F g-1 and the rGO/ZnO electrode maintains 89.6% of the initial capacitance after 5000 cycles of uses.

Abstract
A film consisting of poly(γ-glutamic acid) modified with 3-aminothiophene (ATh-γ-PGA) was prepared by macromolecular self-assembly and electropolymerization. ATh-γ-PGA is amphiphilic and electrically conductive. The copolymers undergo self-assembly to form nanoparticles (NPs) on decreasing the pH value of an aqueous solution. A conducting film of NPs was formed on the surface of a gold electrode by casting the ATh-γ-PGA NPs and subsequently electropolymerizing the thiophene units. Next, horseradish peroxidase and Nafion were cast onto the film to obtain an enzymatic biosensor for H2O2. Due to the electropolymerization step, a cross-conjugated polymer network is created that improves electron transfer rates and thus enhances the response. This endows the biosensor with high sensitivity. Two linear ranges are present, the first ranging from 1 × 10-11 to 1 × 10-8 mol·L-1, and the second from 1 × 10-8 to 1 × 10-5 mol·L-1. The detection limit is as low as 3 × 10-12 mol·L-1. The sensor is stable, repeatable, and was successfully applied to the determination of H2O2 in a commercial disinfecting solution. Graphical abstract Preparation of a conducting nanoparticle (NP) film on the gold electrode (GE) by self-assembly of poly(γ-glutamic acid) that was modified with electroactive 3-aminothiophene (ATh-γ-PGA). It served as a platform for the fabricationof an ultrasensitive voltammetric enzyme-based biosensor for H2O2.

Abstract
Organophosphate (OP) compounds impose significant strains on public health, environmental/food safety and homeland security, once they have been widely used as pesticides and insecticides and also display potential to be employed as chemical warfare agents by terrorists. In this context, the development of sensitive and reliable chemical sensors that would allow in-situ measurements of such contaminants is highly pursued. Here we report on a free-enzyme impedimetric electronic tongue (e-tongue) used in the analysis of organophosphate pesticides comprising four sensing units based on graphene hybrid nanocomposites. The nanocomposites were prepared by reduction of graphene oxide in the presence of conducting polymers (PEDOT:PSS and polypyrrole) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), which were deposited by drop casting onto gold interdigitated electrodes. Impedance spectroscopy measurements were collected in triplicate for each sample analyzed, and the electrical resistance data were treated by Principal Component Analysis (PCA), revealing that the system was able to discriminate OPs at nanomolar concentrations. In addition, the electronic tongue system could detect OPs in real samples, where relations between the principal components and the variation of pesticides in a mixture were established, proving to be useful to analyze and monitor mixtures of OP pesticides. The materials employed provided sensing units with high specific surface area and high conductivity, yielding the development of a sensor with suitable stability, good reproducibility, and high sensitivity towards pesticide samples, being able to discriminate concentrations as low as 0.1nmolL-1. Our results indicate that the e-tongue system can be used as a rapid, simple and low cost alternative in the analyses of OPs pesticide solutions below the concentration range permitted by legislation of some countries.

Abstract
This study offers a brief review of the latest developments and applications of electrochemical sensors for the detection of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) using electrochemical sensors. In particular, significant advances in electrochemical sensors made over the past decade and sensing methodologies associated with the introduction of nanostructures are highlighted. Amongst a variety of detection methods that have been developed for PGMs, nanoparticles offer the unrivaled merits of high sensitivity. Rapid detection of PGMs is a key step to promote improvement of the public health and individual quality of life. Conventional methods to detect PGMs rely on time-consuming and labor intensive procedures such as extraction, isolation, enrichment, counting, etc., prior to measurement. This results in laborious sample preparation and testing over several days. This study reviewed the state-of-the-art application of nanoparticles (NPs) in electrochemical analysis of environmental pollutants. This review is intended to provide environmental scientists and engineers an overview of current rapid detection methods, a close look at the nanoparticles based electrodes and identification of knowledge gaps and future research needs. We summarize electrodes that have been used in the past for detection of PGMs. We describe several examples of applications in environmental electrochemical sensors and performance in terms of sensitivity and selectivity for all the sensors utilized for PGMs detection. NPs have promising potential to increase competitiveness of electrochemical sensors in environmental monitoring, though this review has focused mainly on sensors used in the past decade for PGMs detection. This review therefore provides a synthesis of outstanding performances in recent advances in the nanosensor application for PGMs determination.

Abstract
The paper highlights the intrinsic role of the conducting polymers (CPs) in CP-based electrochemical sensing devices. The effects of specific parameters of the electrochemical synthesis and overall measurement protocol, such as nature of the solvent and doping ions, the characteristics of the electrochemical polymerisation procedure, the nature of the CP-carrying substrates, and the composition of the medium used for the electroanalytical measurement, are discussed in an attempt to provide guidelines necessary for optimisation of CP-based electrochemical sensing. The lesser stability of CPs is also addressed as one of the main possible drawbacks of these materials in comparison to inorganic-based sensors.
