Abstract
Two new mixed-ligand iron(III) complexes, [Fe(L(n))(acac)(C(2)H(5)OH)] incorporating coordinated ethanol from the reaction solvent were accessed from the reaction of [Fe(acac)(3)] with [ONO] donor dibasic tridentate unsymmetrical Schiff base ligands derived from condensation of 2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde with 2-aminophenol (H(2)L(1)) or 2-aminobenzoic acid (H(2)L(2)). The thermal study (TGA-DTA) provided evidence for weakly bound ethanol which is readily substituted by neutral N-donor molecule imidazole, benzimidazole or pyridine to produce an array of newer complexes, [Fe(L(n))(acac)X] (n=1, 2; X=Im, Bim, Py). The compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, UV-vis, solution electrical conductivity, FAB mass, (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. Room temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements (μ(eff)∼5.8 B.M.) are consistent with spin-free octahedral iron(III) complexes. Cyclic voltammetry of ethanol complexes revealed a quasi-reversible one electron redox response (ΔE(p)>100 mV) for the Fe(III)/Fe(II) couple. Low half wave redox potential (E(1/2)) values suggested easy redox susceptibility. The ground state geometries of the ethanol and imidazole complexes have been ascertained to be distorted octahedral by density functional theory using DMol3 program at BLYP/DNP level.

Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mo(C14H12NO)2O2], comprises half of the complex with the full molecule generated by the application of twofold symmetry. The MoVI atom is surrounded by two oxide O atoms and the two sets of N,O-donor atoms of the bidentate Schiff base ligands. The resulting N2O4 donor set defines a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. Intermolecular C—H⋯O contacts link molecules into chains along the b axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by intermolecular π–π interactions [ring centroid–centroid distance = 3.724 (6) Å].

Abstract
Crystals of the title compound, [Mo(C(14)H(13)NO(2))O(2)(CH(4)O)], were obtained by recrystallization from methanol. The Mo(VI) atom is coordinated by two oxide O atoms and by two O atoms and one N atom of the tridentate 1-[(2-oxidoprop-yl)iminometh-yl]-2-naphtholate Schiff base ligand. The coordination sphere is completed by the O atom of a methanol mol-ecule, yielding a distorted octa-hedron. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding yields centrosymmetric dimers.

Abstract
In the structure of the title compound, [Mo(C19H20N2O2)O2], the Mo atom exhibits oxidation state +VI and is surrounded by two O atoms and the tetradentate Schiff base ligand 2,2′-[(2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl)bis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenolate in a distorted octahedral configuration. An intramolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bond between a methylene group and one O atom of the O=MoVI=O unit, as well as additional intermolecular hydrogen bonds between neighboring molecules, lead to a weakly bonded inversion-symmetric dimeric structure.

Abstract
Diimido complexes of the type Mo(NAr)2Cl2(dme) (dme = 1,2-dimethoxyethane) react with N-salicylidene-2-aminophenol (sapH2) in methanol in the presence of 2 equiv of triethylamine to form complexes with the general formula Mo(NAr)(1,2-OC6H4NH)(sap). The structures of three of these compounds (NAr = 2,6-dimethylphenylimido (1), 2,4,6-trimethylphenylimido (2), 2-tert-butylphenylimido3) have been determined by X-ray crystallography. The coordination sphere around the Mo is a distorted octahedron. The oxygen from the 2-aminophenol is trans to the imido nitrogen, whereas the amido nitrogen and the tridentate sap occupy the four equatorial positions. The Mo-N-C imido linkages have angles of 167.5(2) degrees (1), 163.2(2) degrees (2), and 162.4(1) degrees (3). A precursor complex to the imido-amido complex, Mo(NAr)(sap)(OCH3)2 (4, NAr = 2,4,6-trimethylphenylimido), has been isolated and characterized. Compound 4 reacts with 2-aminophenol to form 2, with 2-aminothiophenol to form Mo(NAr)(1,2-SC6H4NH)(sap) (5), with catechol to form Mo(NAr)(1,2-OC6H4O)(sap) (6), with naphthalene-2,3-diol to form Mo(NAr)(naphthalene-2,3-diolate)(sap) (7), with 1,2-benzenedithiol to form Mo(NAr)(1,2-SC6H4S)(sap) (8), and with 1,2-phenylenediamine to form Mo(NAr)(1,2-HNC6H4NH)(sap) (9). The structures of compounds 5-9 have been determined by X-ray crystallography. With the exception of compound 8, the structures are similar to those of 1,2, and 3, with the bidentate ligand occupying one axial and one equatorial position. In 8, 1,2-benzendithiolate occupies two equatorial positions, and the nitrogen from sap is located trans to the imido nitrogen. All complexes were characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and UV-vis spectroscopy. When a solution of 4 is exposed to moisture-containing air, MoO2(sap)(CH3OH) (10) is formed. The structure of 10 was also determined.

Abstract
The Schiff base (H2fsal-ohyba) derived from 3-formylsalicylic acid and o-hydroxybenzylamine has been covalently bonded to chloromethylated polystyrene cross-linked with 5% divinylbenzene (abbreviated as PS-H(2)fsal-ohyba, I). Treatment of [VO(acac)2] with PS-H2fsal-ohyba in dimethylformamide (DMF) gave the oxovanadium(iv) complex PS-[VO(fsal-ohyba).DMF] (1). Complex 1 can be oxidized into the dioxovanadium(v) species, PS-K[VO2(fsal-ohyba)] (2) on aerial oxidation in the presence of KOH or into the oxoperoxo species, PS-K[VO(O2)(fsal-ohyba)] (3) in the presence of H2O2 and KOH in DMF suspension. Similarly, PS-[MoO(2)(fsal-ohyba).DMF] (4) has been isolated by the reaction of [MoO2(acac)2] with PS-H2fsal-ohyba. All these complexes have been characterised by various techniques. These complexes catalyse the oxidation of styrene, ethylbenzene and phenol efficiently. Styrene gives five reaction products namely styrene oxide, benzaldehyde, 1-phenylethane-1,2-diol, benzoic acid and phenylacetaldehyde, while ethylbenzene gives benzaldehyde, phenyl acetic acid, styrene and 1-phenylethane-1,2-diol. The oxidation products of phenol are catechol and p-hydroquinone. These catalysts are also able to catalyse the oxidative bromination of salicylaldehyde to 5-bromosalicylaldehyde with ca. 80% selectively in the presence of aqueous 30% H2O2/KBr, a reaction similar to that exhibited by vanadate-dependent haloperoxidases. Their corresponding neat complexes have also been prepared and their catalytic activities have been compared.
