Abstract
The addition of ions in micromolar (CaCl2 or HCl) or millimolar (NaCl) concentrations can change the morphology of "crew-cut" aggregates of amphiphilic block copolymers in dilute solutions. In addition to spherical, rodlike, and univesicular or lamellar aggregates, an unusual large compound vesicle morphology can be obtained from a single block copolymer. Some features of the spontaneously formed large compound vesicles may make them especially useful as vehicles for delivering drugs and as models of biological cells. Gelation of a dilute spherical micelle solution can also be induced by ions as the result of the formation of a cross-linked "pearl necklace" morphology.

Abstract
The electrostatics of micellar growth is reviewed and extended for solutions containing excess salt. In dilute solution the expansion of a linear micelle with increasing salt concentration is explained for a wide range of ionic strength. When the micellar charge density is very high, counterions condense nonuniformly onto the micellar rod. In that case the micelle may contract upon the addition of salt. In semidilute solutions the excluded-volume effect is an additional factor complicating the ionic strength dependence of micellar growth.

Abstract
The interactions of neutral molecules with ionic micelles are analyzed. The cell and mass action models are presented in order to provide a semi-quantitative description of the solubilization process. Both approaches are discussed from a thermodynamic and kinetic point of view and the different definitions of solute incorporation constants are also discussed and compared. An extensive compilation of standard free energies of transfer from water to micelles is provided and the basis of the employed methods to obtain them is presented. Several aspects of the solubilization process such as its dynamics, the effect of additives, the probe microenvironment and its dependence with the solute mean occupation number are reviewed and critically discussed. The effect of solute incorporation upon the micelle shape and size is also briefly reviewed.
