Abstract
Abstract
This review focuses on the use of homogeneous transition metal complexes for the catalytic dehydrogenation of amines for synthetic purposes, and for hydrogen storage applications. The catalytic dehydrogenation of primary, secondary and cyclic amines is reviewed looking at reaction conditions, different catalysts and common side reactions. Recent developments in this active field of research showcase how cooperative ligands and photocatalysts can overcome the need for noble metals or harsh reaction conditions.

UV Light-Assisted Synthesis of Highly Efficient Pd-Based Catalyst over NiO for Hydrogenation of o-Chloronitrobenzene. NANOMATERIALS 2018; 8:nano8040240. [PMID: 29662004 PMCID: PMC5923570 DOI: 10.3390/nano8040240] [Citation(s) in RCA: 6] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/03/2018] [Revised: 04/06/2018] [Accepted: 04/07/2018] [Indexed: 11/28/2022]
Abstract
Supported Pd-based catalyst over active nickel oxide (NiO) was repared using the impregnation method companying with UV-light irradiation. Moreover, the catalytic performance of the obtained Pd-based catalysts was evaluated towards the hydrogenation of o-chloronitrobenzene (o-CNB). Observations indicate that the as-prepared UV-irradiated Pd/NiO catalyst with a mole fraction 0.2% (0.2%Pd/NiO) has higher activity and selectivity in the o-CNB hydrogenation. Especially, UV-light irradiation played a positive role in the improvement of catalytic activity of 0.2%Pd/NiO catalyst, exhibiting an excess 11-fold activity superiority in contrast with non-UV-irradiated 0.2%Pd/NiO catalyst. In addition, it was investigated that effects of varied factors (i.e., reaction time, temperature, o-CNB/Pd ratio, Pd loading, hydrogen pressure) on the selective hydrogenation of ο-CNB catalyzed by UV-irradiated 0.2%Pd/NiO catalyst. Under the reaction conditions of 60 °C, 0.5 h, 1 MPa H2 pressure, 100% conversion of o-CNB, and 81.1% o-CAN selectivity were obtained, even at high molar ratio (8000:1) of o-CNB to Pd.

Abstract
A chemoselective hydrogenation of isoquinoline carbocycles was achieved by using the catalyst prepared from Ru(methallyl)2(cod) and trans-chelate chiral ligand PhTRAP. The unique chemoselectivity achieved in this hydrogenation could be ascribed to the trans-chelation of the chiral ligand. The procedure for preparing the catalyst strongly affects the reproducibility of the carbocycle hydrogenation. Various 5-, 6-, 7-, and 8-substituted isoquinolines were selectively hydrogenated at their carbocycles to afford 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroisoquinolines as major products in high yields with moderate or good enantioselectivities. Some mechanistic studies suggested that the stereogenic center was created during the initial addition of H2 to the aromatic ring in the hydrogenation of 5-substituted isoquinolines. In other words, the stereochemical control was accompanied by the dearomatization.

Abstract
We report here for the first time the catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation of N-heterocycles by a visible-light organo-photoredox catalyst with low catalyst loading (0.1-1 mol %). The reaction proceeds efficiently under base- and additive-free conditions with ambient air at room temperature. The utility of this benign approach is demonstrated by the synthesis of various pharmaceutically relevant N-heteroarenes such as quinoline, quinoxaline, quinazoline, acridine, and indole.

Abstract
For the first time, transfer hydrogenation of quinolines and related heterocycles is performed with a non-noble metal based catalyst. [Co(BF4)2·6H2O] in combination with phosphine L1 catalyses selectively, the mild reduction of N-heteroarenes using formic acid as hydrogen donor.
