Abstract
Abstract
The main purpose of the present study is to determine anticorrosion properties in oilfield produced water of the N′-phenylbenzohydrazide and its metal complex derivatives by experimental studies and quantum chemical calculations as well as investigate the relationship between experimental and theoretical study results through a correlation study. The molecular structures of N′-phenylbenzohydrazide and its metal complexes (Cu, Mn, Co) obtained characterized by using UV–Vis and FT–IR techniques. The electrochemical polarization measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy techniques were used experimentally in the discovery of corrosion inhibition properties of the metal complexes in oilfield produced water. Some important quantum chemical parameters of the metal complexes were calculated using quantum chemical software, Gaussian 03 W. The electrochemical polarization measurements showed that the inhibition efficiencies of metal complexes were increased with an increase of concentration. The results showed that the metal complexes acted as anodic-type inhibitors. The experimental inhibition activities of studied metal complexes were found to be highly correlated with calculated some parameters, ET, ELUMO, EHOMO and EGap.

Abstract
Herein, the synthesis, characterization and corrosion inhibition effectiveness of two aromatic epoxy monomers (AEMs) namely, 2-(oxiran-2-yl-methoxy)-N,N-bis(oxiran-2-yl-methyl)aniline (AEM1) and N,N-bis(oxiran-2-ylmethyl)-2-((oxiran-2-ylmethyl) thio)aniline (AEM2), in carbon steel corrosive dissolution in 1 M HCl solution is investigated using computational and experimental techniques. AEM1 and AEM2 were characterized using FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy techniques. Electrochemical results demonstrated that AEMs act as reasonably good corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in 1 M HCl medium and their effectiveness followed the sequence: AEM2 (95.4%) > AEM1 (94.3%). A PDP study showed that AEMs act as mixed-type inhibitors with slight anodic predominance. Adsorption of the AEMs obeyed the Langmuir isotherm model. Interactions between AEMs and the metallic surface was further studied using DFT and MD simulations that give several computational parameters such as I, A, EHOMO, ELUMO, ΔE, δ, χ, ρ, σ, η, ΔN and Eads. The experimental and computational results were in good agreement and well complimented each other. Herein, the synthesis, characterization and corrosion inhibition effectiveness of two aromatic epoxy monomers (AEMs) in carbon steel corrosive dissolution in 1 M HCl solution was investigated using computational and experimental techniques.![]()

Electrochemical Studies of Monoterpenic Thiosemicarbazones as Corrosion Inhibitor for Steel in 1 M HCl. INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CORROSION 2018. Abstract
We have studied the inhibitory effect of some Monoterpenic Thiosemicarbazones on steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution. The potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used. The Monoterpenic Thiosemicarbazones have inhibited significantly the dissolution of steel. The inhibition efficiency increased with increasing inhibitor concentration and also with the increase in temperature (293–323 K). Furthermore, the results obtained revealed that the adsorption of inhibitor on steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption model and the thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy and activation energy were determined. The scanning electron microscopy combined with dispersive X-ray spectroscopy examinations were used to see the shape of the surface morphology and to determine the elemental composition. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images show that the surface damage decreases when the inhibitor is added. The quantum chemical calculations using density functional theory (DFT) were performed in order to provide some insights into the electronic density distribution as well as the nature of inhibitor-steel interaction.

Abstract
Some platinum oxime complexes are optimized at HF/CEP-31G level which has been reported as the best level for these type complexes in the gas phase. IR spectrum is calculated and the new scale factor is derived. NMR spectrum is calculated at the same level of theory and examined in detail. Quantum chemical parameters which have been mainly used are investigated and their formulas are given in detail. Additionally, selected quantum chemical parameters of studied complexes are calculated. New theoretical IC50% formulas are derived and biological activity rankings of mentioned complexes are investigated.

Abstract
This review describes the contemporary development applications on scientific areas of acyclic and cyclic Schiff bases and their complexes with an emphasis on the author’s contribution to the field. After a short historical introduction, this manuscript is divided into two main parts. In the first section, Schiff bases are reviewed for their biological activities including antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, cytotoxic, and enzymatic activities as well as their interaction with single-stranded-DNA which have shown remarkable activities in each region of research. The second part deals with the corrosion of metal and its alloys in corrosive environments and their organic inhibitors. The main section of this part is to investigate the different chemical structures for Schiff bases used in such aggressive solution to protect metals. Knowing the maximum corrosion efficiency or bioactivity of a specific chemical structure in a specific application environment is helpful for choosing the most appropriate compound. The contemporary development applications on scientific areas of acyclic and cyclic Schiff bases and their complexes.![]()

Abstract
N,N-Diethylammonium O,O′-di(p-methoxyphenyl)dithiophosphate (EAPP) as a new corrosion inhibitor was synthesized in the present work. The corrosion inhibition of EAPP in hydrochloric acid for carbon steel was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, weight loss measurements, and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicate that the EAPP is mixed type inhibitor, and the adsorption of EAPP on carbon steel surface obeys Langmuir isotherm. In addition, the inhibition efficiency increases with increasing the concentration of inhibitor and decreases with increasing the hydrochloric acid concentration, temperature, and storage time.

Abstract
Corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1 M hydrochloric acid using Iraqi apricot tree gum Arabic as natural polymer was studied. The weight loss method was used to predict the efficiency of the inhibitor on corrosion of mild steel in a temperature range of 17–40°C. The FTIR result of natural polymer revealed that the C=O and O-H groups were found in the structure of the natural polymer. The results of weight loss method showed that the inhibition efficiency (I%) increased with the increase in both the natural polymer concentration and the temperature; therefore, chemical adsorption mechanism was suggested in this system. The different mathematical models of the adsorption isotherms were studied and the results revealed that natural polymer was found to obey Temkin, Langmuir, and Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The activation energy of adsorption, enthalpy of adsorption, and entropy of adsorption were obtained for different concentrations of natural polymer (0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 g/L) and the results showed that the thermodynamic properties decreased with the loading of a natural polymer. Gibbs free energy of adsorption results was a minus value that led to the conclusion of the spontaneous adsorption of the natural polymer in this system.

Abstract
Inhibitor is a substance that is added to the corrosive media to inhibit corrosion rate. Organic inhibitors are preferred to inorganic ones since they are environmentally friendly. One of the organic compounds which is rarely reported as a corrosion inhibitor isMyrmecodia Pendans. The organic compounds can be adsorbed on the metal surface and block the active surface to reduce the rate of corrosion. In this study, the used pipe was carbon steel API 5L Grade B with 3.5% NaCl solution as the corrosion medium. The objective of this research was to analyze the inhibition mechanismMyrmecodia Pendanstowards carbon steel in a corrosion medium. Concentration variations of extractMyrmecodia Pendanswere 0–500 ppm. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) was used for chemical characterization ofMyrmecodia Pendans. Polarization and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) were used to measure the corrosion rate and behaviour. From the electrochemical measurements, it was found that the addition of 400 mg/L inhibitor gave the highest inhibition efficiency.Myrmecodia Pendansacted as a corrosion inhibitor by forming a thin layer on the metal surface.
