Abstract
A copper-catalyzed direct aminosulfonylation of unactivated alkenes with sodium sulfinates for the efficient synthesis of sulfonylated pyrrolidones is described. This reaction features good functional group tolerance and wide substrate scope, providing an efficient and straightforward protocol to access this kind of pyrrolidones. Moreover, preliminary mechanistic investigations disclosed that a free-radical pathway might be invovled in the process.

Abstract
A divergent synthetic strategy to 1,6-dihydropyridazines and pyridazines through Cu(II)-catalyzed controllable aerobic 6-endo-trig cyclization was developed. The selectivity can be rationally tuned via the judicious choice of reaction solvent. It was found that the 1,6-dihydropyridazines were obtained in moderate to high yields with CH3CN as the reaction solvent, whereas employment of AcOH directly afforded pyridazines in up to 92% yields, probably arising from the oxidation of the in situ generated 1,6-dihydropyridazines.

Abstract
A one-pot, multi-component protocol for the synthesis of a new class of functionalized quinoline carbohydrazide derivatives via reaction of various anilines, dimedone, aromatic aldehydes, and cyanoacetohydrazide is described. The reactions are completed in the presence of catalytic amount of piperidine, respectively, in melt conditions and then in ethanol/water (1:1) as green solvent at 80 °C. Mild conditions, green medium, short reaction times, simple workup and purification process with no chromatographic technique, and good yields are the main advantages of this method.

Abstract
Enantiomerically enriched phthalans were synthesized efficiently via an enantioselective copper-catalyzed alkene carboetherification reaction. In this reaction, 2-vinylbenzyl alcohols enantioselectively cyclize then couple with vinylarenes. The utility of the method was demonstrated by the enantioselective synthesis of ( R)-fluspidine, a σ1 receptor ligand.

Abstract
We report a Ni-catalyzed regioselective alkylarylation of vinylarenes with alkyl halides and arylzinc reagents to generate 1,1-diarylalkanes. The reaction proceeds well with primary, secondary and tertiary alkyl halides, and electronically diverse arylzinc reagents. Mechanistic investigations by radical probes, competition studies and quantitative kinetics reveal that the current reaction proceeds via a Ni(0)/Ni(I)/Ni(II) catalytic cycle by a rate-limiting direct halogen atom abstraction via single electron transfer to alkyl halides by a Ni(0)-catalyst.

Abstract
Nucleophilic attack on carbon-based electrophiles is a central reactivity paradigm in chemistry and biology. The steric and electronic properties of the electrophile dictate its reactivity with different nucleophiles of interest, allowing the opportunity to fine-tune electrophiles for use as coupling partners in multistep organic synthesis or for covalent modification of proteins in drug discovery. Reactions that directly transform inexpensive chemical feedstocks into versatile carbon electrophiles would therefore be highly enabling. Herein, we report the catalytic, regioselective oxidative cyanation of conjugated and nonconjugated alkenes using a homogeneous copper catalyst and a bystanding N-F oxidant to furnish branched alkenyl nitriles that are difficult to prepare using existing methods. We show that the alkenyl nitrile products serve as electrophilic reaction partners for both organic synthesis and the chemical proteomic discovery of covalent protein ligands.

Abstract
We have developed an asymmetric aza-Wacker-type cyclization of N-Ts hydrazine-tethered tetrasubstituted olefins, affording optically active pyrazolines bearing chiral tetrasubstituted carbon stereocenters. This reaction is tolerant to a broad range of substrates under mild reaction conditions, giving the desired chiral products with high enantioselectivities. Generation of two vicinal stereocenters on the C═C double bonds was also achieved with high selectivities, a process which has been rarely studied for Wacker-type reactions. A mechanistic study revealed that this aza-Wacker-type cyclization undergoes a syn-aminopalladation process. It was also found that for substrates bearing two linear alkyl substituents on the outer carbon atom of the olefin, both of which are larger than a methyl group, the alkyl substituent that is cis to the intranucleophilic group participates more readily in β-hydride elimination. When one of the two alkyl substituents on the outer carbon atom of the olefin is a methyl group, β-hydride elimination proceeds selectively at the methylene side, thus both diastereomers can be prepared via switching the configuration of the olefin. Furthermore, the product can be converted to a pharmaceutical compound in high yields over three steps.
