Abstract
We have developed a new umpolung strategy for catalytically forming a chiral α-alkoxyalkyl anion from an aromatic aldehyde for use in asymmetric synthesis. The reaction between aromatic aldehydes and aryl or allyl electrophiles with a silylboronate utilizing a chiral copper-N-heterocyclic carbene catalyst and a palladium-bisphosphine catalyst in a synergistic manner occurred with high enantioselectivities to deliver the three-component coupling products, chiral silyl-protected secondary alcohol derivatives. Our method features the catalytic generation of enantioenriched chiral α-alkoxyalkylcopper(I) intermediates from aldehydes and their subsequent palladium-catalyzed stereospecific cross-coupling.

Abstract
The first Csp3-Csp2 cross-coupling using aldehydes as latent α-alkoxyalkyl anion equivalents has been achieved. The synergistic palladium/copper-catalyzed reaction of aromatic aldehydes and aryl bromides with a silylboronate afforded the three-component coupling products, silyl-protected benzhydrol derivatives. The reaction pathway involves the catalytic formation of a nucleophilic α-silyloxybenzylcopper(i) species followed by its palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling with aryl bromides.

Abstract
A new method for the stereoselective synthesis of tetrasubstituted olefins is described. β-Ketophosphonates are alkylated via conventional methods, and a Grignard reagent is used to diastereoselectively add to the carbonyl group of the resulting intermediates. The elimination of hydroxyl phosphonates yielded the desired tetrasubstituted olefins in a stereoselective manner. Thus, homofarnesenes of fire ant trail pheromones have been synthesized efficiently using this strategy.

Abstract
An efficient, catalytic method for accessing tetrasubstituted enynylboronates has been established via copper-catalyzed chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective borylalkynylation of internal alkynes. In this protocol, a range of symmetrical and unsymmetrical internal alkynes with aryl, heteroaryl, and alkyl substituents afforded fully substituted enynylboron compounds in good yields and with high levels of regio- and stereoselectivity, up to a ratio of >20:1. The enynylboron products could be further utilized in transforming the C-B bond into C-C bonds by coupling reactions.

Abstract
Unsymmetrical B(MIDA)-containing diborons of potential synthetic utility were found to be synthesized from the readily available (neop)B-B(neop) and (HO)2B-B(OH)2, and the procedure was extended to the generation of symmetrical (MIDA)B-B(MIDA). NMR and X-ray crystal structure studies revealed that B(MIDA) units of all of the diborons obtained in this study were in rigid tetrahedral environment.
