Abstract
A [RhI ]/bisphosphine/base catalytic system for the ortho-selective C-H alkylation of azines by acrylates and acrylamides is reported. This catalytic system features an unprecedented complete linear or branched selectivity that is solely dependent on the catalytic base that is used. Complete branched selectivity is even achieved for ethyl methacrylate, which enables the introduction of a quaternary carbon center. Excellent functional group compatibility is demonstrated for both linear and branched alkylations. The operational simplicity and broad scope of this transformation allow for rapid access to functionalized azines of direct pharmaceutical and agrochemical relevance.

Abstract
The addition of nucleophiles to electron-deficient alkenes represents one of the more general and commonly used strategies for the convergent assembly of more complex structures from simple precursors. In this review the addition of diverse protic and organometallic nucleophiles to electron-deficient alkenes followed by enantioselective protonation is summarized. Reactions are first categorized by the type of electron-deficient alkene and then are further classified according to whether catalysis is achieved with chiral Lewis acids, organocatalysts, or transition metals.

Abstract
Terminal alkenes are readily available functional groups which appear in α-olefins produced by the chemical industry, and they appear in the products of many contemporary synthetic reactions. While the organic transformations that apply to alkenes are amongst the most studied reactions in all of chemical synthesis, the number of reactions that apply to nonactivated terminal alkenes in a catalytic enantioselective fashion is small in number. This Minireview highlights the cases where stereocontrol in catalytic reactions of 1-alkenes is high enough to be useful for asymmetric synthesis.

Abstract
A diverse approach toward the catalytic regioselective nucleophilic addition of nitrogen heterocycles to Lewis acid activated pentafulvenes has been established. The developed protocol introduces pentafulvenes as nonsymmetrical alkenes for the hydroheteroarylation reaction, providing alkylidenecyclopentenylation at the C-3 position of indoles and the C-2 position of pyrrole.

Abstract
Allylrhodium species derived from δ-trifluoroboryl β,γ-unsaturated esters undergo chain walking towards the ester moiety. The resulting allylrhodium species react with imines to give products containing two new stereocenters and a Z-alkene. By using a chiral diene ligand, products can be obtained with high enantioselectivities, where a pronounced matched/mismatched effect with the chirality of the allyltrifluoroborate is evident.

Abstract
An enantioselective, intermolecular dehydrogenative Heck arylation of trisubstituted alkenes to construct remote quaternary stereocenters has been developed. Using a new chiral pyridine oxazoline ligand, good to high enantioselectivity is achieved for various combinations of indole derivatives and trisubstituted alkenes. However, some combinations of substrates led to lower enantioselectivity, which provided the impetus to use structure enantioselectivity correlations to design a better performing ligand.

Abstract
Highly enantioselective cationic iridium-catalyzed hydroarylation of bicycloalkenes, by carbonyl-directed C-H bond cleavage, was accomplished using a newly synthesized sulfur-linked bis(phosphoramidite) ligand (S-Me-BIPAM). The reaction provides alkylated acetophenone or benzamide derivatives in moderate to excellent yields and good to excellent enantioselectivities. Notably, the hydroarylation reaction of 2-norbornene with N,N-dialkylbenzamide proceeds with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 99% ee) and high selectivity for the mono-ortho-alkylation product.

Abstract
The selective synthesis of 2,6-trans-tetrahydropyran derivatives employing the rhodium catalysed addition of organoboron reagents to dihydropyranone templates, derived from a zinc-catalysed hetero-Diels-Alder reaction, is reported. The addition of both arylboronic acids and potassium alkenyltrifluoroborates have been accomplished in high yields using commercially-available [Rh(cod)(OH)]2 catalyst. The selective formation of the 2,6-trans-tetrahydropyran stereoisomer is consistent with a mechanism involving alkene association and carbometalation on the less hindered face of the dihydropyranone.
