Scandium triflate-catalysed synthesis of N-substituted pyrroles from amine and 2,5-dimethoxytetrahydrofuran

The Clauson–Kass pyrrole synthesis catalysed by scandium triflate afforded N-substituted 2- and 3-unsubstituted pyrroles with yields ranged from good to excellent. Aromatic amines, heteroaomatic amines, 4-methylbenzenesulfonamide and 2-chlorobenzamide are good substrates in this transformation.

A novel and efficient synthesis of bis(benzofuranyl)methanes and 2-benzofuran-1-nitroalkanes catalyzed by Bi(OTf)

Bismuth (III) triflate-catalyzed Friedel-Crafts reactions between benzofuran and aldehydes in different solvents were investigated. Bis(benzofuranyl)methanes were obtained with good yields when acetonitrile was used as solvent, while in the case of nitromethane the multi-component reaction products, 2-benzofuran-1-nitroalkanes, were formed under similar conditions. Sc(OTf)3-Catalysed Ring-Opening of Aziridines with Phenol Derivatives Under Solvent-Free Conditions

Scandium(III) triflate-catalysed ring opening of aziridines with phenol derivatives affords various 2-amino ethers 3 (eg 4-methyl- N-(2-phenoxy-2-phenylethyl) benzenesulfonamide) with high regioselectivity and high yields under solvent-free conditions. The unexpectedly rearranged product 4 (e.g. 4-methyl-N-(3-methyl-3-phenoxy butyl) benzene sulfonamide) was obtained when 2-isopropyl- N-tosylaziridine was the substrate.

Strontium(II) Triflate Catalysed Condensation of β-Naphthol, Aldehyde and Urea or Amides: A Facile Synthesis of Amidoalkyl Naphthols

A novel and efficient synthesis of amidoalkyl naphthols has been developed by one-pot condensation of β-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes and urea or amides in the presence of strontium(II) triflate as a catalyst in high yields.
