Abstract
This Viewpoint highlights the ability of molecular bottlebrushes to serve as highly tunable building blocks for creating nanostructured materials via molecular templating, solution aggregation, and melt self-assembly. Recent achievements in the synthesis of discrete nano-objects, micellar structures, and periodic nanomaterials from bottlebrush copolymers are emphasized, and future opportunities in this area of polymer science are briefly discussed.

Abstract
Well-defined double-brush copolymers with each graft site carrying a polystyrene (PSt) graft and a polylactide (PLA) graft were synthesized by simultaneous reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) and ring-opening polymerization (ROP) processes, followed by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) "grafting through" of the resulting diblock macromonomer (MM). Their Janus-type morphologies were detected by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging after thermal annealing to facilitate the intramolecular self-assembly of PSt and PLA grafts. This finding provides critical evidence to verify double-brush copolymers as Janus nanomaterials.

Abstract
Efficient, one-pot preparation of synthetically challenging, high molecular weight (MW), narrowly dispersed brush block copolymers and random copolymers in high conversions was achieved by ring-opening metathesis (co)polymerization (ROMP) of various macromonomers (MMs) using the highly active, fast-initiating ruthenium olefin metathesis catalyst (H(2)IMes)(pyr)(2)(Cl)(2)RuCHPh. A series of random and block copolymers were prepared from a pair of MMs containing polylactide (PLA) and poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PnBA) side chains at similar MWs. Their self-assembly in the melt state was studied by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). In brush random copolymers containing approximately equal volume fractions of PLA and PnBA, the side chains segregate into lamellae with domain spacing of 14 nm as measured by SAXS, which was in good agreement with the lamellar thickness measured by AFM. The domain spacings and order-disorder transition temperatures of brush random copolymers were insensitive to the backbone length. In contrast, brush block copolymers containing approximately equal volume fractions of these MMs self-assembled into highly ordered lamellae with domain spacing over 100 nm. Their assemblies suggested that the brush block copolymer backbone adopted an extended conformation in the ordered state.

Abstract
A new strategy is presented for the synthesis of graft copolymers using only the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). From a ROMP-derived main chain, pendant maleimide functional groups are converted into norbornene moieties via a Diels-Alder reaction with cyclopentadiene. The norbornene groups serve as sites of initiation, and subsequent ROMP from the main chain yields graft copolymers with both main and side chains derived from ROMP. This strategy offers ready access to defined graft copolymers.

Abstract
This Article describes a simple two-step synthesis of comb block copolymers with molecular weights exceeding 1,000,000 g mol(-1) and their assembly into ordered morphologies in the solid state. This work is exciting because these polymers assembled into morphologies with domain sizes exceeding 100 nm and, in some examples, 200 nm without the use of additives. These materials reflected selected wavelengths of visible light, and these wavelengths could be affected by swelling with methylene chloride vapor. A comparison between the structures of comb block copolymers and linear block copolymers is presented with a discussion of important parameters affecting their assembly in the solid state. This Article will first describe the synthesis of comb block copolymers using ring opening metathesis polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization and their subsequent characterization. The comb block copolymers, backbone polymers, and polystyrene arms were all characterized independent of each other and had low polydispersities. The comb block copolymers were assembled by dissolving in methylene chloride and allowing the solvent to evaporate. After thermal annealing, the polymers were characterized by scanning electron and optical microscopy. These polymers assembled into spherical, lamellar, and cylindrical arrays with domain sizes from 132 to 258 nm. This work extends the molecular architectures of polymers that can be assembled in the solid state, the molecular weights of block copolymers that were assembled, and the domain sizes that can be realized without the use of additives.
