Abstract
A method for the enantioselective synthesis of carbo- and heterocyclic ring systems enabled through the combination of Lewis acid activation and iridium-catalyzed allylic substitution is described. The reaction proceeds with branched, allylic alcohols and carbon nucleophiles as well as heteronucleophiles to give a diverse set of ring systems in good yields and with high enantioselectivities. The utility of the method is highlighted by the asymmetric syntheses of erythrococcamides A and B.

Abstract
2-Hydroxydihydropyran-5-ones behave as excellent polyfunctional reagents able to react with enals through oxa-Michael/Michael process cascade under the combination of iminium and enamine catalysis. These racemic hemiacetalic compounds are used as unconventional O-pronucleophiles in the initial oxa-Michael reaction, also leading to the formation of a single stereoisomer under a dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) process. Importantly, by using β-aryl or β-alkyl substituted α,β-unsaturated substrates as initial Michael acceptors either kinetically or thermodynamically controlled diastereoisomers were formed with high stereoselection through the careful selection of the reaction conditions. Finally, a complete experimental and computational study confirmed the initially proposed DKR process during the catalytic oxa-Michael/Michael cascade reaction and also explained the kinetic/thermodynamic pathway operating in each case.

Abstract
A direct enantioselective synthesis of substituted oxygen heterocycles from lactol acetates and enolsilanes has been realized using a highly reactive and confined imidodiphosphorimidate (IDPi) catalyst. Various chiral oxygen heterocycles, including tetrahydrofurans, tetrahydropyrans, oxepanes, chromans, and dihydrobenzofurans, were obtained in excellent enantioselectivities by reacting the corresponding lactol acetates with diverse enol silanes. Mechanistic studies suggest the reaction to proceed via a nonstabilized, aliphatic, cyclic oxocarbenium ion intermediate paired with the confined chiral counteranion.

Abstract
The first carboxylic acid selective aldol reaction mediated by boron compounds and a mild organic base (DBU) was developed. Inclusion of electron-withdrawing groups in the amino acid derivative ligands reacted with BH3·SMe2 forms a boron promoter with increased Lewis acidity at the boron atom and facilitated the carboxylic acid selective enolate formation, even in the presence of other carbonyl groups such as amides, esters, ketones, or aliphatic aldehydes. The remarkable ligand effect led to the broad substrate scope including biologically relevant compounds.

Abstract
Arylboronic acid and DMAPO cooperatively catalyse the dehydrative condensation reaction between carboxylic acids and amines to give the corresponding amides under azeotropic reflux conditions. This cooperative use is much more effective than their individual use as catalysts.
Arylboronic acid and 4-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyridine N-oxide (DMAPO) cooperatively catalyse the dehydrative condensation reaction between carboxylic acids and amines to give the corresponding amides under azeotropic reflux conditions. This cooperative use is much more effective than their individual use as catalysts, and chemoselectively promotes the amide condensation of (poly)conjugated carboxylic acids. The present method is practical and scalable, and has been applied to the synthesis of sitagliptin and a drug candidate.

Abstract
The enantioselective oxa-Michael reaction of alkoxyboronate strategy was demonstrated to provide a new and practical route to enantioriched 1- and 3-substituted isochromans using a chiral bifunctional organocatalyst. Furthermore, this methodology was extended to the enantioselective synthesis of (+)-sonepiprazole, a dopamine receptor antagonist.

Abstract
An unprecedented strategy for the synthesis of enantioenriched 1-substituted 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans via an enantioselective oxa-Michael reaction of o-alkoxyboronate containing chalcone (II) has been accomplished employing cinchona alkaloid based squaramide bifunctional organocatalyst in the presence of proton source. The corresponding alkoxyboronate intermediates have been readily prepared in situ from o-formyl chalcones using neutral borane as hydride source and a tertiary amine moiety which is a counterpart of the catalyst.
