Abstract
The first well-defined lutetacyclopentadienes are synthesised from pentamethylcyclopentadienyl lithium (Cp*Li), 1,4-dilithio-1,3-butadienes, and LuCl3. The lutetacyclopentadiene shows excellent reactivity towards some small molecules, such as pivalaldehyde, Se, carbon dioxide, and isonitrile to efficiently construct 3-, 5-, 7-, 8-, and 9-membered rare-earth metallacycles. Both monoinsertion and double-insertion of two Lu-Csp2 bonds are observed. Specially, the reaction between lutetacyclopentadiene and isonitrile afforded [3,5,5]-fused metallacycles. The distinguished reactivity can be attributed to the highly ionic character and the cooperative reactivity of two Lu-Csp2 bonds.

Abstract
Ligand exchange reactions of 9-sila- and 9-germa-phenathrenes with chromium carbonyl complexes, [Cr(CH3CN)3(CO)3] and [Cr(η6-benzene)(CO)3], were performed. Their reactions with [Cr(CH3CN)3(CO)3] afforded the corresponding η6-complexes, in which Cr(CO)3 moieties coordinated to the C6-rings. However, those with [Cr(η6-benzene)(CO)3] gave unique four-membered complexes bearing semibridging carbonyl ligands. All the structures of novel complexes were determined by NMR and X-ray crystallographic analysis.

Abstract
We carried out a series of zeroth-order regular approximation (ZORA)-density functional theory (DFT) and ZORA-time-dependent (TD)-DFT calculations for molecular geometries, NMR chemical shifts, nucleus-independent chemical shifts (NICS), and electronic transition energies of plumbacyclopentadienylidenes stabilized by several Lewis bases, (Ph)2 ((t) BuMe2 Si)2 C4 PbL1 L2 (L1, L2 = tetrahydrofuran, Pyridine, N-heterocyclic carbene), and their model molecules. We mainly discussed the Lewis-base effect on the aromaticity of these complexes. The NICS was used to examine the aromaticity. The NICS values showed that the aromaticity of these complexes increases when the donation from the Lewis bases to Pb becomes large. This trend seems to be reasonable when the 4n-Huckel rule is applied to the fractional π-electron number. The calculated (13)C- and (207)Pb-NMR chemical shifts and the calculated UV transition energies reasonably reproduced the experimental trends. We found a specific relationship between the (13)C-NMR chemical shifts and the transition energies. As we expected, the relativistic effect was essential to reproduce a trend not only in the (207)Pb-NMR chemical shifts and J[Pb-C] but also in the (13)C-NMR chemical shifts of carbons adjacent to the lead atom.

Abstract
1-Trimethylsilyl, 1-R (R = Me, Et, i-Bu)-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene [[Ph₄C₄Si(SiMe₃)]R] are synthesized from the reaction of 1-trimethylsilyl,1-lithio-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopentadienide anion [[Ph₄C₄Si(SiMe₃]⁻•[Li]⁺ (3) with methyl iodide, ethyl iodide, and i-butyl bromide. The versatile intermediate 3 is prepared by hemisilylation of the silole dianion [Ph₄C₄Si]⁻²•2[Li]⁺ (2) with trimethylsilyl chloride and characterized by ¹H-, ¹³C-, and ²⁹Si-NMR spectroscopy. 1,1-bis(R)-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene [Ph₄C₄SiR₂] {R = n-Bu (7); t-Bu (8)} are synthesized from the reaction of 2 with n-butyl bromide and t-butyl bromide. Reduction of 7 and 8 with lithium under sonication gives the respective 3-silolenide 2,5-carbodianions {[Ph₄C₄Si(n-Bu)₂]⁻²•2[Li]⁺ (10) and {[Ph₄C₄Si(t-Bu)₂]⁻²•2[Li]⁺ (11)}, which are characterized by ¹H-, ¹³C-, and ²⁹Si-NMR spectroscopy. Polarization of phenyl groups in 3 is compared with those of silole anion/dianion, germole anion/dianion, and 3-silolenide 2,5-carbodianions 10 and 11.
