A water-compatible, highly active and reusable PEG-coated mesoporous silica-supported palladium complex and its application in Suzuki coupling reactions

A highly active heterogeneous palladium catalyst was prepared from coated mesoporous materials which contain a layer of readily available PEG with a labile coordinating ability for palladium. The aqueous suspension of the catalyst may be reused several times by simple extraction of the aqueous reaction mixture with ether to remove the product.

Cross-coupling reactions of aryl and vinyl chlorides catalyzed by a palladium complex derived from an air-stable H-phosphonate

A palladium complex derived from air-stable TADDOLP(O)H catalyzes efficiently Hiyama, Stille, Kumada and Suzuki cross-coupling reactions of aryl and vinyl chlorides.

Nickel-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reaction of Aryl Fluorides and Chlorides with Grignard Reagents under Nickel/Magnesium Bimetallic Cooperation

Nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling of Grignard reagents with aryl (poly)fluorides or (poly)chlorides can be achieved efficiently in the presence of a new triarylphosphine ligand bearing a nearby hydroxy group. The high reactivity and the unique chemoselectivity (ArF > ArOTf > ArSR) of the catalysis have been attributed to synergy of nickel and magnesium atoms preorganized on the ligand, as has been surmised on the basis of theoretical modeling of the reaction mechanism.

Efficient Cross-Coupling of Functionalized Arylzinc Halides Catalyzed by a Nickel Chloride−Diethyl Phosphite System

[reaction: see text] The combination of diethyl phosphite and DMAP as ligands for nickel in an 8:1 THF-N-ethylpyrrolidinone (NEP) mixture allows a very efficient cross-coupling reaction to be performed between various functionalized arylzinc halides and aryl bromides, triflates and activated chlorides. The reaction proceeds at 25 degrees C within 1-48 h and requires only 0.05 mol % of the nickel catalyst.

Development of a New Class of Chiral Phosphorus Ligands: P-Chirogenic Diaminophosphine Oxides. A Unique Source of Enantioselection in Pd-Catalyzed Asymmetric Construction of Quaternary Carbons

[reaction: see text] We have recently developed a new class of chiral phosphorus ligands: P-chirogenic diaminophosphine oxides. These pentavalent phosphorus compounds have been successfully applied to Pd-catalyzed asymmetric construction of tertiary and quaternary carbons. The actual ligand structure was the trivalent phosphorus species 17, which was generated in situ by BSA-induced P(V) to P(III) transformation of 6, the preligand. Detailed mechanistic studies, including asymmetric amplification and initial rate kinetics, revealed that complex 18 [Pd-17 (1:2) complex] was the active catalyst. The important function of the nitrogen atom on the sidearm in the ligands was also clarified. The source of enantioselection in the construction of asymmetric quaternary carbons was the secondary ligand substrate interaction mediated by N-Zn coordination.
