Palladium-catalyzed carbo-heterofunctionalization of alkenes for the synthesis of oxindoles and spirooxindoles

A palladium-catalyzed oxidative carbo-heterofunctionalization of aniline derivatives involving concomitant direct C-H functionalization and C-X bond formation was developed. By simply changing the reaction conditions (solvent and catalyst), either 3,3'-disubstituted oxindole or spirooxindole was accessible from the same starting material.

Six-component reactions for the stereoselective synthesis of 3-arylidene-2-oxindoles via sequential one-pot Ugi/Heck carbocyclization/Sonogashira/nucleophilic addition

An efficient palladium-catalyzed protocol for the synthesis of 3-arylidene-2-oxindoles has been developed. In this approach, a sequential one-pot six-component reaction via Ugi/Heck carbocyclization/Sonogashira/nucleophilic addition was used for the synthesis of the desired skeleton.

Indoles from simple anilines and alkynes: palladium-catalyzed C-H activation using dioxygen as the oxidant

Pd doles it out: A palladium-catalyzed approach to indoles using the title reaction was achieved (see scheme). The oxidant used in this catalytic cycle was O(2). Both N-nonsubstituted and N-alkyl monosubstituted anilines can be successfully transformed into the corresponding indoles by this method.

One-pot tandem double-aldol reaction/aza-addition of acetylacetamides and o-phthalaldehyde leading to spiroindan-2,2'-pyrrolidines

A novel domino reaction based on o-phthalaldehyde and 3-oxo-N-arylbutanamide 1 has been developed which allows one-pot and efficient synthesis of structurally complex spiroindan-2,2'-pyrrolidines 2 and 3 with complete regioselectivity and high stereoselectivity from acyclic precursors.
