Abstract
Novel copper/B2pin2-catalyzed difluoroalkylation of methylenecyclopropanes with bromodifluorinated acetates and acetamides via a tandem radical process involving ring-opening/intramolecular cyclization has been reported. This protocol is not only tolerated to a diverse range of substrates but also applicable to the synthesis of useful difluoromethylated compounds. Moreover, the reaction could be performed on a gram scale with a high yield, which opens up the possibility for practical applications.

Abstract
A fluoroalkenylation of boronic acids with fluoroalkyl alkenes has been developed. The Pd-catalyzed oxidative Heck coupling reaction proceeds under an oxygen atmosphere at room temperature, in the absence of a base and/or a ligand, showing excellent practicality of the process. This simple transformation is highly stereoselective to provide only E-isomers. In addition to the general approach using alkenes with functionalized fluoroalkyl reagents, this method, by transferring an aromatic system to the electron-deficient fluoroalkyl alkene, provides an efficient alternative method to yield valuable organofluorines.

Abstract
A first example of low-energy blue-light-mediated formal Doyle-Kirmse reaction for gem-difluoroallylation of aryl diazoesters has been developed. A variety of highly functionalized gem-difluoroallyl containing esters bearing transformable sulfur and bromine groups were efficiently assembled with broad substrate scope under mild, catalyst-free, and additive-free conditions. The reaction represents a practical and environmentally friendly approach for C-CF2 bond formation based on rearrangement strategy, which will find potential applications among drug discovery and development.

Abstract
Herein we report a versatile Mizoroki-Heck-type photoinduced C(sp3 )-N bond cleavage reaction. Under visible-light irradiation (455 nm, blue LEDs) at room temperature, alkyl Katritzky salts react smoothly with alkenes in a 1:1 molar ratio in the presence of 1.0 mol % of commercially available photoredox catalyst without the need for any base, affording the corresponding alkyl-substituted alkenes in good yields with broad functional-group compatibility. Notably, the E/Z-selectivity of the alkene products can be controlled by an appropriate choice of photoredox catalyst.

Abstract
The Heck reaction is one of the most reliable and useful strategies for the construction of C-C bonds in organic synthesis. However, in contrast to the well-established aryl Heck reaction, the analogous reaction employing alkyl electrophiles is much less developed. Significant progress in this area was recently achieved by merging radical-mediated and transition-metal-catalyzed approaches. This review summarizes the advances in alkyl Heck-type reactions from its discovery early in the 1970s up until the end of 2018.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed Heck reaction is a well-known, Nobel Prize winning transformation for producing alkenes. Unlike the alkenyl and aryl variants of the Heck reaction, the alkyl-Heck reaction is still underdeveloped owing to the competitive side reactions of alkyl-palladium species. Herein, we describe the development of a deaminative alkyl-Heck-type reaction that proceeds through C-N bond activation by visible-light photoredox catalysis. A variety of aliphatic primary amines were found to be efficient starting materials for this new process, affording the corresponding alkene products in good yields under mild reaction conditions. Moreover, this strategy was successfully applied to deaminative carbonylative alkyl-Heck-type reactions.

Abstract
A cobaloxime-catalyzed photochemical synthesis of allyl monofluorides from styrenes is described herein. This method is characterized by mild reaction conditions, low-cost catalyst, and broad substrate scope. Furthermore, this convenient method will provide a facile synthesis toward novel monofluoroalkylated natural product and pharmaceutical derivatives. Mechanistic investigations indicate that a monofluoroalkyl radical is involved in the catalytic cycle.

Abstract
Fluoroalkylated enaminones, such as trifluridine and 5-trifluoromethyluracil, have widespread applications in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Although these kinds of pharmaceutical agent often bear CF3 and perfluoroalkyl motifs in the core structure, access to such analogues typically requires multi-step synthesis. Here, we report a mild, metal-free and operationally simple strategy for the direct perfluoroalkylation of uracils, cytosines and pyridinones through a visible-light induced pathway from perfluoroalkyl iodides. This photochemical transformation features synthetic simplicity, mild reaction conditions without any photoredox catalyst, and high functional group tolerance, providing a facile route for applications in medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
Alkynes difunctionalization is a powerful strategy in organic synthesis that provides a convenient synthetic entry for internal alkenes. The main challenge in this field was considered to be the geometry control of the newly formed double bond (thermodynamically controlled or kinetically controlled). Herein, we report a novel procedure (through the cyclic compounds broken) to completely control the regioselectivity of olefins. The products, difluoroalkyl unsaturated β-amino acid derivatives, have potential applications in some important pharmaceuticals on account of the special nature of fluorine atoms.

Abstract
A practical and efficient method for selective intramolecular radical trifluoromethylacylation and -arylation of alkenes with inexpensive CF3SO2Na and K2S2O8 in aqueous media has been developed, respectively, affording the highly chemoselective synthesis of CF3-functionalized chroman-4-ones and chromanes in satisfactory yields. Control experiments and DFT calculations indicate that the CF3SO2Na/K2S2O8 system is capable of trifluoromethylating the substrate of alkenes without a transition metal catalyst and the oxidation of CF3SO2Na to ·CF3 by K2S2O8 is involved in the rate-determining step.

Abstract
Difluoroalkylated compounds play a remarkably important role in life and materials sciences because of the unique characteristics of the difluoromethylene (CF2) group. In particular, precise introduction of a CF2 group at the benzylic position can dramatically improve the biological properties of the corresponding molecules. As a consequence, difluoroalkylation of aromatic compounds has become a powerful strategy in modulating the bioactivities of organic molecules. However, efficient strategies to selectively synthesize difluoroalkylated arenes had been very limited before 2012. Traditional synthetic methods in this regard suffer from either harsh reaction conditions or narrow substrate scope, significantly restricting their widespread applications, particularly for late-stage difluoroalkylation of bioactive molecules. To overcome these limitations, a straightforward route to access these valuable difluoroalkylated skeletons is the direct introduction of the difluoroalkylated group (CF2R) onto aromatic rings through transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling. However, because of the instability of some difluoroalkylated metal species, which are prone to protonation, dimerization, and/or generation of other unknown byproducts, it is difficult to selectively control the catalytic cycle to suppress these side reactions. In this context, we proposed the use of low-cost and widely available difluoroalkyl halides as fluoroalkyl sources for transition-metal-catalyzed difluoroalkylation reactions via cross-coupling. In this Account, we summarize our major efforts on copper-, palladium-, and nickel-catalyzed difluoroalkylations of aromatics with low-cost and widely available difluoroalkyl halides as fluoroalkyl sources. Four modes of catalytic difluoroalkylation reactions, including nucleophilic difluoroalkylation, electrophilic difluoroalkylation, radical difluoroalkylation, and metal-difluorocarbene coupling (MeDiC), have been demonstrated through careful modulation of the catalytic systems. Among these reactions, the MeDiC reaction represents a new mode of fluoroalkylation. These processes enable difluoroalkylation of a variety of aryl halides and arylboron reagents under mild reaction conditions. A wide range of difluoroalkyl halides, including activated difluoroalkyl halides (Cl/BrCF2R, R = π system), unactivated difluoroalkyl halides (BrCF2R, R = alkyl, H), and especially the inert and inexpensive industrial chemical chlorodifluoromethane (ClCF2H), are applicable to these reactions, providing straightforward and facile routes to a diverse range of difluoroalkylated (hetero)arenes. These difluoroalkyl halide-based strategies can also be applied to prepare difluoroalkylated alkenes, alkynes, and alkanes and feature impressive advantages over conventional methods for the synthesis of difluoroalkylated compounds in terms of synthetic efficiency, functional group tolerance, and structural diversity. In particular, the late-stage difluoroalkylation of bioactive molecules through these processes offers good opportunities for the synthesis and development of new medicinal agents without the need for multistep de novo syntheses.

Abstract
Regioselective C(2)-H difluoroalkylation of C-3 unsubstituted indoles with commonly available fluoroalkyl bromides is successfully achieved employing a simple nickel catalyst system, (DME)NiCl2 /Xantphos. This methodology shows excellent regioselectivity and exhibits a broad substrate scope. Various functional groups, such as -OMe, -F, and -Br, are tolerated on the indole backbone to give the difluoroalkylated products in moderate to good yields. Preliminary mechanistic findings demonstrate that the reaction is homogeneous in nature and involves a radical manifold. Synthetic utility of this nickel-catalyzed method is demonstrated by synthesizing melatonin receptor antagonist Luzindole derivative.

Abstract
This report describes a new method for three-component difluoroalkylation and trifluoromethylthiolation/trifluoromethylselenolation of π-bonds via air-stable SCF3 and SeCF3 reagents as free-radical initiators of ethyl iododifluoroacetate. β-Proton elimination can be overcome effectively in this reaction system, and a broad substrate scope, including alkenes and alkynes, makes this approach practical and attractive.
