Abstract
A catalytic asymmetric decarboxylative [3 + 2] annulation via indolyl copper-allenylidene amphiphilic intermediates has been developed. This protocol offers a straightforward method for the synthesis of biologically important pyrrolo[1,2-a]indoles bearing contiguous quaternary and tertiary stereogenic centers with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities (up to >20:1 dr and >99% ee). In addition, the diversity-oriented synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-a]indoles was achieved via versatile transformations of the alkyne-containing cycloadducts.

Abstract
The synthesis of allenyl-Bdan has been realized via the Cu(I)-catalyzed borylation of propargylic alcohols. This methodology offers a facile and efficient pathway toward allenyboronates with diverse functional groups due to the simple access to the substrates. The substrates bearing ester groups are well-tolerated in the synthesis of allenyl-Bdan under the Lewis acidic conditions. The structures of two allenyl-Bdan were further confirmed via single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric functionalization of the N–H groups of indoles and carbazoles constitutes an important but less developed class of reactions. Herein, we describe a propargylation protocol involving the use of a lithium SPINOL phosphate as the chiral catalyst and our recently developed C-alkynyl N,O-acetals as propargylating reagents. The direct asymmetric N-propargylation of indoles and carbazoles provides hitherto inaccessible N-functionalized products. Notably, the efficiency of the system allows reactions to be run at a very low catalyst loading (as low as 0.1 mol%). Mechanistic information about the titled reaction is also disclosed. This study represents an advance in the direct asymmetric functionalization of the N–H bonds of indoles and carbazoles, and additionally expands on the application of chiral alkali metal salts of chiral phosphoric acids in asymmetric catalysis. Asymmetric functionalization of N–H bonds constitutes an important but less developed class of reactions. Here, the authors report the asymmetric direct N-propargylation of indoles and carbazoles with a lithium SPINOL phosphate as the chiral catalyst and shed light on the reaction mechanism.

Abstract
A series of polyhydroxyl sulfides and triazoles was prepared by reacting allyl and propargyl d-mannose derivatives with selected thiols and azides in thiol–ene and Huisgen click reactions. Conformational analysis by NMR spectroscopy proved that the intrinsic rigidity and linear conformation of the mannose derived polyol backbone is retained in the final click products in solution. Single crystal X-ray structure determination of one of the compounds prepared further verified that the linear conformation of the polyol segment is also retained in the solid state. In addition, an improved method for direct Barbier-type propargylation of unprotected d-mannose is reported. The new reaction protocol, involving tin-mediated propargylation in an acetonitrile-water mixture, provides access to multigram quantities of the desired, valuable alkyne polyol without relying on protecting group manipulations or chromatographic purification. An improved method for the propargylation of d-mannose and application of the rod-like polyol and its allylated analogue in click reactions is described.![]()

Abstract
Methods to diversify indolizines are valuable for the discovery of medications and fluorescent molecules. The utilization of copper-catalyzed asymmetric propargylation to install a terminal alkyne handle on indolizine heterocycle is reported. This method delivers C3-propargylation products from C2-substituted indolizines or C1-propargylation products from C2,C3-disubstituted indolizines through a stereoconvergent pathway.

Abstract
We report a scandium-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation of alkylideneoxindoles with allenylsilanes for the enantioselective formation of cyclopentene-spirooxindoles containing vinylsilanes. Using a Sc(OTf)2/PyBOX/BArF complex, the spiroannulation of allenylsilanes affords products with >94:6 dr and >90:10 er. The effect of the counterion and ligand to control selectivity is discussed. The transformation of the vinylsilane is demonstrated using cross-coupling, epoxidation, and Tamao-Fleming oxidation reactions. A series of competition experiments provide a comparison of nucleophilicity between allyl- and allenylsilanes.

Abstract
The Wittig reaction is a reliable method for synthesizing alkenes from phosphorous ylides (P-ylides) and carbonyls, and is thus widely applied in medicine and pharmaceutical production. Among them, asymmetric Wittig reactions using chiral P-ylides are believed to be a conventional pathway towards chiral alkenes. Obviously, the key of this transformation is the efficient construction of chiral P-ylides. Over the past decade, the coupling of the in situ generated chiral P-ylides through the catalytic asymmetric alkylation of easily available P-ylides and the subsequent Wittig reaction with carbonyls has already been achieved, allowing the efficient and selective synthesis of versatile chiral alkenes. This review highlights these impressive advances according to the catalysis type, and the general mechanisms and stereochemical inductions are briefly discussed as well. We hope this article will be a useful reference and inspiration for those who are exploring new methods and new applications of chiral P-ylides.

Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric and divergent assembly of tricyclic and tetracyclic 3,3'-pyrrolidonyl spirooxindoles was developed, involving a one-pot chiral Brønsted base catalyzed asymmetric propargylation for the synthesis of oxindole 1,6-enynes and a subsequent switchable site-selective and highly diastereoselective electrophilic iodocyclization of 1,6-enynes. In addition, antitumor properties of the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated.

Abstract
With their mechanistic novelty and various modalities of reactivity, transition metal unsaturated carbene (alkenylidene) complexes have emerged as versatile intermediates for new reaction discovery. In particular, the past decade has witnessed remarkable advances in the chemistry of metal vinylidenes and allenylidenes, leading to the evolution of a diverse array of new catalytic transformations that are mechanistically distinct from those developed in the previous two decades. This review aims to provide a survey of the recent achievements in the development of organic reactions that make use of transition metal alkenylidenes as catalytic intermediates and their applications to organic synthesis.

Abstract
Chiral metal complexes catalyze enantioselective carbonyl propargylation via reductive coupling or as hydrogen auto-transfer processes, in which reactant alcohols serve dually as reductant and carbonyl proelectrophile. Unlike classical propargylation protocols, which rely on allenylmetal reagents or metallic reductants (e.g. NHK reactions), reductive protocols for carbonyl propargylation can occur in the absence of stoichiometric metals, precluding generation of metallic byproducts. Propargylations of this type exploit both enyne and propargyl halide pronucleophiles.

Abstract
The first catalytic asymmetric decarboxylative [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of ethynylethylene carbonates with malononitrile has been developed successfully by an organo/copper cooperative system. This strategy led to a series of optically active polysubstituted dihydrofurans in good yields with high levels of enantioselectivities (up to 99% yield, 97% ee). The presence of the terminal alkynyl and the cyano group in the dihydrofuran products provides a wide scope for further structural transformations. More importantly, this organo/metal cooperative catalytic system will broaden the substrate scope and enable fundamentally new reactions.

Abstract
Despite extensive studies in gold catalysis, σ-allenylgold species have not been invoked as catalytic intermediates and their reactivities not studied. This work reports for the first time they are generated in situ and undergo nucleophilic addition to activated aldehydes in a bifunctional phosphine ligand-enabled gold catalysis. This development reveals a broad range of opportunities to achieve propargylic C-H functionalization for the first time under catalytic and mild conditions. The homopropargylic alcohols generated undergo ligand-enabled cycloisomerizations involving an unexpected silyl migration.

Abstract
Unprecedented hydroxy-alkynylation and -alkenylation reactions of arylalkenes have been developed through electrochemically enabled addition of an organotrifluoroborate reagent and H2O across the double bond of the alkene. The use of electrochemistry to promote these oxidative alkene 1,2-difunctionalization reactions not only obviates the need for transition-metal catalysts and oxidizing reagents but also ensures high regio- and chemoselectivity to afford homopropargylic or homoallylic alcohols. The possibility of extending the electrochemical alkene difunctionalization strategy to other alkene carbo-heterofunctionalization reactions has been demonstrated.
