Abstract
A copper-catalyzed three-component coupling of 1,3-dienes, bis(pinacolato)diboron, and ketones allows for the chemo-, regio-, diastereo- and enantioselective assembly of densely functionalized tertiary homoallylic alcohols. The relative configuration of the vicinal stereocenters is controlled by the chiral ligand employed. Subsequent transformations illustrate the versatility of these valuable chiral building blocks.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed 1,2-difunctionalization of ynamides has been developed by using readily available N,O-acetals as the bifunctional reagents. Importantly, contrary to the initially expected 1,2-oxy-aminomethylation reaction, an unprecedented 1,2-amino-oxymethylation has been observed. This reaction is atom-economical and tolerates a broad substrate scope, affording the difunctionalization products in good yield with unique Z configuration.

Abstract
Alkenyl boronic esters are important reagents in organic synthesis. Herein, we report that these valuable products can be accessed by the homologation of boronic esters with lithiated epoxysilanes. Aliphatic and electron-rich aromatic boronic esters provided vinylidene boronic esters in moderate to high yields, while electron-deficient aromatic and vinyl boronic esters were found to give the corresponding vinyl silane products. Through DFT calculations, this divergence in mechanistic pathway has been rationalized by considering the stabilization of negative charge in the C-Si and C-B bond breaking transition states. This vinylidene homologation was used in a short six-step stereoselective synthesis of the proposed structure of machillene, however, synthetic and reported data were found to be inconsistent.

Abstract
A facile process for the catalyst-free and solvent-free hydroboration of aromatic as well as heteroaromatic imines is reported. This atom-economic methodology is scalable, compatible with sterically and electronically diverse imines, displaying excellent tolerance towards various functional groups, and works efficiently at ambient temperature in most of the cases, affording secondary amines in good to excellent yield after hydrolysis.

Abstract
Base metal catalysis offers an alternative to reactions, which were once dominated by precious metals in hydrofunctionalization reactions. This review article details the development of some base metals (Fe, Co, and Ni) in the hydroboration and hydrosilylation reactions concomitant with a brief overview of recent advances in the field. Applications of both commercially available metal salts and well-defined metal complexes in catalysis and opportunities to further advance the field is discussed as well.

Abstract
Cu-catalyzed stereoselective synthesis of (E)-δ-silyl-anti-homoallylic alcohols from 1,3-dienylsilane was developed. Mechanistic studies revealed that the borocupration of dienylsilane proceeded through a 1,2-addition pathway to give an allylcopper intermediate with Cu distal to the silyl group. However, the subsequent aldehyde allylation proceeded via Curtin-Hammett control to give (E)-δ-silyl-anti-homoallylic alcohols with high diastereoselectivities. This method was applied to the synthesis of the C1-9 fragment of a polyketide natural product, mycinolide IV.

Abstract
A copper catalyzed intramolecular 1,2-carboboration of o-aldiminyl cinnamate has been realized in both regio- and stereoselective fashions. This reaction provides a convenient entry to highly valuable and otherwise challenging cis-2,3,4-trisubstituted tetrahydroquinolines carrying a 4-boryl group. An unusual non-Michael addition intermediate or alternatively, a cyclic enolate is proposed to account for the intriguing all-cis configuration in the final products.

Abstract
AgSbF6-Catalyzed anti-Markovnikov addition of pinacolborane (HBpin) to terminal alkynes to produce the E-vinylboronates is reported. This efficient methodology is scalable, compatible with sterically and electronically diverse alkynes, and works at room temperature under solvent-free condition. The utility of this method is demonstrated in the facile synthesis of the clinically important (E)-2,4,3',5'-tetramethoxystilbene.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed trifunctionalization of alkynes that provides rapid access to oxindoles bearing a geminal diboronate side chain, highlighted by the simultaneous formation of one C-C bond and two C-B bonds, is reported. This new reaction features simple reaction conditions (ligand-free catalysis), a general substrate scope, and excellent chemoselectivity. Mechanistic study revealed a reaction sequence constituted by, in the order, borylation, intramolecular cross-coupling, hydroboration, which has been rarely documented.

Abstract
Organoboron "ate" complexes undergo a net vinyl insertion reaction to give 1,1-disubstituted alkenyl boronic esters when treated with stoichiometric allyl acetate and a palladium catalyst. Reactions that employ vinyllithium afforded good to excellent yields after one hour, while reactions that employ vinylmagnesium chloride furnished modest to good yields after 18 hours.

Abstract
The first example of a Cu-catalysed borylation of a wide range of aryl chlorides with different electronic and steric properties is mediated by a readily prepared NHC-stabilised Cu catalyst and KOtBu. The aryl chlorides are converted into their corresponding arylboronic esters using B2pin2 or B2neop2 as the boron reagent.

Abstract
The use of 3d metals in de/hydrogenation catalysis has emerged as a competitive field with respect to "traditional" precious metal catalyzed transformations. The introduction of functional pincer ligands that can store protons and/or electrons as expressed by metal-ligand cooperativity and ligand redox-activity strongly stimulated this development as a conceptual starting point for rational catalyst design. This review aims at providing a comprehensive picture of the utilization of functional pincer ligands in first-row transition metal hydrogenation and dehydrogenation catalysis and related synthetic concepts relying on these such as the hydrogen borrowing methodology. Particular emphasis is put on the implementation and relevance of cooperating and redox-active pincer ligands within the mechanistic scenarios.

Abstract
The direct borylation of disubstituted alkenes is reported. These conditions allow for the conversion of a variety 1,1- and 1,2-disubstituted alkenes to trisubstituted alkenyl boronic esters with outstanding yields and excellent E/ Z selectivities. The utility of this reaction has been demonstrated with several downstream functionalization reactions, which allow access to diverse, stereodefined, functionalized olefins. Mechanistic studies are consistent with a boryl-Heck pathway.

Abstract
Substituted alkenes are pivotal structural motifs found in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Although numerous methods have been developed to construct substituted alkenes, a generally efficient, mild, catalytic platform for the conversion of alkynes to this highly functionalized scaffold via successive C–C bond forming steps remains in high demand. Here we describe an intermolecular, regio- and syn-stereoselective alkylarylation of terminal alkynes with tertiary alkyl oxalates via photoredox-Ni dual catalysis. This catalytic protocol, synergistically combining Ir/Ni-catalyzed alkyne difunctionalization with photoinduced alkene isomerization, affords trisubstituted alkenes with excellent efficiency and syn-stereoselectivity. The mild conditions tolerate many functional groups, allowing for a broad scope with respect to terminal alkynes, aryl bromides, and alkyl oxalates. Converting alkynes into alkenes with high stereoselectivity via two consecutive C-C bond forming steps is a desirable process, yet very challenging. Here, the authors describe a dual photoredox-nickel catalytic system for the regio- and syn-selective alkylarylation of terminal alkynes with alkyl oxalates and aryl bromides.
