Abstract
In the course of a study of the alkoxyallylation of allenic sulfones through the use of π-allylpalladium chemistry, we discovered an isomerization of allenic sulfones to arylsulfonyl 1,3-dienes. Under conditions of palladium catalysis in the presence of acids such as acetic acid, allenic sulfones are converted to 1-arylsulfonyl 1,3-dienes. On the other hand, nucleophilic catalysis using triphenylphosphine in the presence of a proton shuttle yields 2-arylsulfonyl 1,3-dienes. Thus, either regioisomer of the arylsulfonyl diene can be prepared at will based on changes in reaction conditions.

Abstract
An efficient and highly regioselective γ-addition of β-keto sulfones on isatins has been achieved in the presence of a catalytic amount of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) to afford a γ-(3-hydroxy-2-oxindole)-β-keto sulfone structural framework. The scope of the method is tested by screening a series of isatin electrophiles as well as β-keto sulfones. The described method was found to be very handy and provides straightforward access for the diversely functionalized 3-β-keto sulfone substituted-3-hydroxy-2-oxindole structural scaffolds in very good yields from readily available starting materials under metal-free reaction conditions.

Abstract
Aryne [3 + 2] cycloaddition with nitrones generated in situ from the addition of hydroxylamines to acetylenedicarboxylates affords moderate to good yields of dihydrobenzisoxazoles. This reaction extends the current scope of aryne cycloaddition to include in situ generated nitrones and produces functionalized dihydrobenzisoxazoles with a quaternary center.

Abstract
A first example of organo-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyzed click-type fast 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides with alkynes was developed for the regioselective synthesis of 3,5-di- and 3,4,5-trisubstituted isoxazoles. Triethylamine (Et(3)N) was employed as an effective base to generate both nitrile oxide and the organo-NHC catalyst in situ. This catalytic approach was used to attach a variety of substituents, including other biologically active fragments, onto the isoxazole ring to selectively design multinucleus structures. Further, we have also optimized the conditions for Cu(I)-free Sonogashira cross-coupling to obtain internal alkynes in high yields, which were subsequently used in cycloaddition. A catalytic cycle is proposed and the remarkable regiocontrol in the formation of isoxazoles was ascribed to a beneficial zwitterion intermediate developed by the interaction of the strongly nucleophilic organo-NHC catalyst with alkyne followed by nitrile oxide.

A mild and efficient synthesis of sulfur-sulfur bond formation from thioformanilides with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone (DDQ) is described. Functionality on the aromatic ring plays a key role in the formation of a sulfur-sulfur bond.
