Abstract
Formamides having 1-arylalkyl groups on nitrogen undergo an unprecedented dehydrogenative [4 + 2] cycloaddition reaction with alkynes via nickel/AlMe(3) cooperative catalysis to give highly substituted dihydropyridone derivatives in good yields. Notably, the transformation proceeds through double functionalization of C(sp(2))-H and C(sp(3))-H bonds in the formamides.

Abstract
Ternary catalytic systems consisting of cobalt salts, phosphine ligands, and Grignard reagents promote addition of arylpyridines and imines to unactivated internal alkynes with high regio- and stereoselectivities. Deuterium-labeling experiments suggest that the reaction involves chelation-assisted oxidative addition of the aryl C-H bond to the cobalt center and insertion of the C-C triple bond into the Co-H bond, followed by reductive elimination of the resulting diorganocobalt species.

Abstract
Polyalkyne and enediyne azamacrocycles are prepared from arenesulfonamides and various alkyne and alkene derivatives either under basic or neutral conditions. The new family of macrocyclic substrates is tested in the [2+2+2] cycloaddition reaction. Several catalysts are used for the cycloisomerization reaction, and their enantioinduction is evaluated as appropriate. The effect of the structural features of the macrocycles, namely the ring size, substituents in precise positions and the number and type of unsaturations, on the [2+2+2] cycloaddition reaction has also been studied.

Abstract
A cobalt(I)-mediated convergent and asymmetric total synthesis of angucyclinones with an aromatic B ring has been developed. In the course of our research, we synthesized three naturally occurring anguclinone derivatives, namely, (+)-rubiginone B(2) (1), (-)-8-O-methyltetrangomycin (2), and (-)-tetrangomycin (3). By combining 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, 3-methoxybenzoic acid, citronellal, and geraniol as starting materials in a convergent way, we were able to synthesize chiral triyne chains, which were cyclized with [CpCo(C(2)H(4))(2)] (Cp=cyclopentadienyl) by means of an intramolecular [2+2+2] cycloaddition to their corresponding tetrahydrobenzo[a]anthracenes. Successive oxidation and deprotection steps led to the above-mentioned natural products 1-3.

Abstract
Palladium metal-catalyzed boron addition to unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds provides an efficient and convenient route for the preparation of organoboranes, which are versatile intermediates for organic synthesis. Palladium complexes are responsible for the exclusive catalytic performance and eventually allow access to selectively functionalized molecules by catalytic consecutive tandem sequences. The final objective is to find suitable palladium complexes that make it possible to perform a one-pot sequential reaction (B-addition/functionalization) by means of a multifaceted palladium catalyst. Mechanistic insights into the concatenated reactions through B chemistry are required if one wants to understand the experimental results.

Abstract
Synthetic sequel: The transition-metal-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition is an established method for the construction of carbocyclic frameworks but is often plagued by poor selectivity. Recent literature paints a promising picture--a more general metal-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition can be accomplished intermolecularly using three separate alkynes to furnish highly substituted arenas (see scheme).
