Abstract
Tertiary enamides have long been thought of as stable and marginally valuable enamine variants in synthesis. This notion has been challenged, however, in recent years. Enabling the regulation of the cross-conjugation system of the tertiary enamides has been successfully shown to enhance delocalization of the nitrogen lone-pair electrons into a carbon-carbon double, thereby reinvigorating the enaminic reactivity of the tertiary enamides. In this article, I summarize the recent advances in the exploration of the nucleophilic reactions of tertiary enamides and their applications in the synthesis of natural products and heterocyclic compounds of biological and pharmaceutical relevance, with a primary focus on our own work.

Abstract
Alkylative carboxylation of ynamides with CO2 and dialkylzinc reagents using a N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-copper catalyst has been developed. A variety of ynamides, both cyclic and acyclic, undergo this transformation under mild conditions to afford the corresponding α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids, which contain the α,β-dehydroamino acid skeleton. The present alkylative carboxylation formally consists of Cu-catalyzed carbozincation of ynamides with dialkylzinc reagents with the subsequent nucleophilic carboxylation of the resulting alkenylzinc species with CO2 . Dialkylzinc reagents bearing a β-hydrogen atom such as Et2 Zn and Bu2 Zn still afford the alkylated products despite the potential for β-hydride elimination. This protocol would be a desirable method for the synthesis of highly substituted α,β- dehydroamino acid derivatives due to its high regio- and stereoselectivity, simple one-pot procedure, and its use of CO2 as a starting material.

Abstract
Asymmetric transfer hydrogenation was applied to a wide range of racemic aryl α-alkoxy-β-ketoesters in the presence of well-defined, commercially available, chiral catalyst Ru(II) -(N-p-toluenesulfonyl-1,2-diphenylethylenediamine) and a 5:2 mixture of formic acid and triethylamine as the hydrogen source. Under these conditions, dynamic kinetic resolution was efficiently promoted to provide the corresponding syn α-alkoxy-β-hydroxyesters derived from substituted aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes with a high level of diastereoselectivity (diastereomeric ratio (d.r.)>99:1) and an almost perfect enantioselectivity (enantiomeric excess (ee)>99 %). Additionally, after extensive screening of the reaction conditions, the use of Ru(II) - and Rh(III) -tethered precatalysts extended this process to more-challenging substrates that bore alkenyl-, alkynyl-, and alkyl substituents to provide the corresponding syn α-alkoxy-β-hydroxyesters with excellent enantiocontrol (up to 99 % ee) and good to perfect diastereocontrol (d.r.>99:1). Lastly, the synthetic utility of the present protocol was demonstrated by application to the asymmetric synthesis of chiral ester ethyl (2S)-2-ethoxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propanoate, which is an important pharmacophore in a number of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α/γ dual agonist advanced drug candidates used for the treatment of type-II diabetes.

Abstract
Hydrazinolysis of unactivated amide bonds is significantly accelerated by the addition of ammonium salts. The reactions proceed at 50-70 °C to give amines with broad substrate scope that outperforms existing amide bond cleavage reactions. Application to peptide and amino sugar derivatives is also demonstrated.

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed olefinic difluoroacetylation of enamides via direct C-H bond functionalization using BrCF2CO2Et is reported for the first time. It constitutes an efficient radical-free method for the regioselective synthesis of β-difluoroester substituted enamides which exhibits broad substrate scope, and thus demonstrates its potent application in a late stage fluorination strategy.

Abstract
The Ru-catalyzed alkene-alkyne coupling reaction has been demonstrated to be an enabling methodology for the synthesis of complex molecules. However, to date, it has been limited to monosubstituted olefins. Herein we report the first general utilization of disubstituted olefins in the Ru-catalyzed alkene-alkyne coupling reaction by employing carbamate directing groups. The products are stereodefined trisusbstituted enecarbamates. The elaboration of these structures toward the asymmetric synthesis of complex aminocyclopentitols and 1,2-amino alcohols is discussed.

Abstract
A mild and efficient chemoselective N-deacetylation using the Schwartz reagent at room temperature in rapid time is described. The mild and neutral conditions enable orthogonal N-deacetylation in the presence of some of the common protecting groups (viz. Boc, Fmoc, Cbz, Ts). The deprotection conditions did not induce any epimerization at the chiral amino centre.

Abstract
Enamides are stable enamine surrogates and provide key intermediates for the synthesis of small but complex nitrogen-containing compounds. Metal-catalyzed regioselective functionalization of enamides provides a rapid method to synthesize useful nitrogen containing heterocycles. This review discloses the recent progress made in the development of the C-H functionalization of enamides involving efficient and atom-economical routes. Syntheses of different heterocycles are classified based on the site reactivity of enamides and key mechanistic insights are given for each transformation.
