Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed intermolecular allenylation of non-strained 2,3-disubstituted indoles and allenyl carbonate has been developed, providing convenient access to indolenines bearing an allene unit by taking advantage of the C-3 nucleophilicity of indoles. Decent yields and good functional group tolerance have been achieved with diverse indoles under mild conditions. Gram-scale reaction and various synthetic transformations have been demonstrated.

Abstract
A general and efficient copper-catalyzed benzylation reaction of triazolopyridine with N-tosylhydrazones was developed. This reaction forms a C(sp2)-C(sp3) bond through cross-coupling, and represents an exceedingly practical method to afford 3-benzylated triazolopyridines in moderate to good yields. A proposed mechanistic pathway underlying this reaction was outlined. This catalytic transformation should enable broad synthetic applications in functionalization chemistry, allowing the synthesis of new pharmaceutically relevant triazolopyridine derivatives.

Abstract
This review provides an overview of synthetic transformations that have been performed by both electro- and photoredox catalysis. Both toolboxes are evaluated and compared in their ability to enable said transformations. Analogies and distinctions are formulated to obtain a better understanding in both research areas. This knowledge can be used to conceptualize new methodological strategies for either of both approaches starting from the other. It was attempted to extract key components that can be used as guidelines to refine, complement and innovate these two disciplines of organic synthesis.

Abstract
A series of indane-based phosphine-oxazoline ligands with a spirocarbon stereogenic center were examined for palladium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation of indoles. Under optimized conditions, high yields (up to 98%) and enantioselectivities (up to 98% ee) were obtained with a broad scope of indole derivatives. The ligand was determined to be the most efficient P,N-ligand for this reaction. Moreover, the ligand was also efficient for Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic etherification with hard aliphatic alcohols as nucleophiles.

Abstract
An efficient cobalt-catalyzed C2α selective C(sp3)-H acyloxylation of 2-substituted indoles with tert-butyl peresters to synthesize diverse 2α-acyloxylated indole derivatives is described. This newly developed method exhibits mild conditions, low-cost catalyst, and high functional group compatibility. In addition, the effectiveness of this chemistry is illuminated by a late-stage modification of methylated indomethacin.

Abstract
Based on N-acyliminium species, two efficient and rapid approaches to diversify spirocyclic systems connected by two different carbon centers to the isoindole ring have been developed. The imide reduction and the tandem oxidative cleavage of olefin/formyl-amide equilibration were at first selected as the key steps for these strategies. Ultimately the intramolecular α-amidoalkylation reaction was achieved through the arylation of α-acetoxy lactams or α-hydroxy lactams using, respectively, a Lewis acid or a Brønsted acid depending on the nature of N-acyliminium precursors. The latter led, in addition to the spiro-6-membered aza-heterocycles, to the formation of scarce spiro-5-membered analogues which show promising inhibitory activities on human farnesyltransferase in the nanomolar range demonstrating improved IC50 values of up to 1.5 nM.

Abstract
A novel palladium-catalysed ring-opening [3 + 2]-annulation of spirovinylcyclopropyl oxindole with α,β-unsaturated nitroalkenes is reported. A series of spirooxindole derivatives were synthesized in high yields and good to excellent diastereoselectivities. This developed protocol offers a new and efficient pathway for the assembly of spirooxindoles.

Abstract
An intramolecular dearomatization of indole derivatives based on visible-light-promoted [2+2] cycloaddition was achieved via energy transfer mechanism. The highly strained cyclobutane-fused angular tetracyclic spiroindolines, which were typically unattainable under thermal conditions, could be directly accessed in high yields (up to 99%) with excellent diastereoselectivity (>20:1 dr) under mild conditions. The method was also compatible with diverse functional groups and amenable to flexible transformations. In addition, DFT calculations provided guidance on the rational design of substrates and deep understanding of the reaction pathways. This process constituted a rare example of indole functionalization by exploiting visible-light-induced reactivity at the excited states.

Abstract
1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoropropan-2-ol (HFIP) was found to be effective for the Bischler indole synthesis under microwave irradiation in the absence of a metal catalyst. Under the catalysis of HFIP, a wide range of α-amino arylacetones were successfully transformed into indole derivatives with moderate to good yields.

Abstract
The N-iodosuccinimide-mediated spirocyclization of tryptamine-derived isocyanides to generate spiroindolenines is reported. The products contain both an imine and an imidoyl iodide as flexible handles for follow-up chemistry. Nucleophilic addition typically occurs chemoselectively on the imine moiety with complete diastereoselectivity, providing opportunities for the construction of complex molecular frameworks. The synthetic potential of the method was showcased in the formal total synthesis of (±)-aspidofractinine.

Abstract
Two new alkaloids, fumigatosides E (1) and F (2), and a new natural product, 3, 7-diketo-cephalosporin P1 (6) along with five known compounds (3–5, 7, 8) were isolated from deep-sea derived fungal Aspergillus fumigatus SCSIO 41012. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic data analysis, including 1D, 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS), and comparison between the calculated and experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. In addition, all compounds were tested for antibacterial and antifungal inhibitory activities. Compound 1 showed significant antifungal activity against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. momordicae with MIC at 1.56 µg/mL. Compound 4 exhibited significant higher activity against S. aureus (16,339 and 29,213) with MIC values of 1.56 and 0.78 µg/mL, respectively, and compound 2 exhibited significant activity against A. baumanii ATCC 19606 with a MIC value of 6.25 µg/mL.
