Abstract
INTRODUCTION Facial aging has long been an area of focus in esthetic surgery. It is the consequence of physiologic and environmental factors, with a trend toward non-surgical modalities. Although volume augmentation has long been a focus of non-surgical facial rejuvenation, there is emerging interest in the use of biostimulators to induce physiologic changes in the skin. This article aimed to provide an overview of this class of therapies. METHODS A systematic review regarding the clinical use of biostimulatory agents including platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in facial rejuvenation was performed using PubMed databases. The protocol was developed following the preferred reporting for items for systematic reviews-protocols guidelines. Included studies matched predetermined criteria according to the employed intervention and outcomes. RESULTS The systematic review was performed in September 2023, with the primary search yielding 464 articles. Abstract review resulted in 73 articles of potential relevance. Comprehensive review of the articles and manual reference checks were performed, independently, by 2 authors. This yielded a total of 45 articles that met the inclusion criteria. CONCLUSIONS There is an increasing role for non-surgical modalities in facial rejuvenation. Biostimulatory agents may be used as an alternative, or act as an adjunct, to other non-surgical modalities. These agents induce physiologic changes that mitigate facial aging. There is limited, quantifiable data, which fully illustrate the effect in these products. Although these agents are known to illicit inflammatory changes, more controlled studies are needed to better elucidate the biostimulatory capacity of such non-surgical treatments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To evaluate the clinical non-inferiority of injectable platelet-rich fibrin and micro-needling (iPRF+MN) with free gingival grafting (FGG) in periodontal phenotype modification therapy. METHODOLOGY Twenty participants with a gingival thickness (GT)<0.8 mm in the mandibular anterior region were included. The participants were randomly allocated into i-PRF+MN and FGG groups. i-PRF injection was done, and MN was done with the help of a lancet in the i-PRF+MN group. The clinical parameters, i.e., GT and Keratinized tissue width (KTW), were evaluated at baseline, 3 and 6 months post-operatively. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs), i.e., discomfort and esthetic satisfaction, were assessed using the visual analogue score(VAS) at one week and 3 months of re-evaluation, respectively. RESULTS Both groups showed a significant increase in GT and KTW with no intergroup variation (P-0.32, 0.48respectively) at the end of 6 months. However, the i-PRF+ MN group showed better PROs, i.e., less discomfort(1.11±0.60) and better esthetic satisfaction(8.77±0.44). CONCLUSION The non-invasive treatment of i-PRF+MN may lead to non-inferior clinical outcomes after 6 months with better PROs compared to more invasive FGG protocols in phenotype modification therapy.

Abstract
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), as an autologous blood preparation, has been receiving increasing attention in recent years and has been successfully applied in various clinical treatments for alveolar bone regeneration in the oral field. This review focuses on analyzing and summarizing the role and mechanism of PRF in alveolar bone regeneration. We first provide a brief introduction to PRF, then summarize the mechanisms by which PRF promotes alveolar bone regeneration from three aspects: osteogenesis mechanism, bone induction mechanism, and bone conduction mechanism, involving multiple signaling pathways such as Smad, ERK1/2, PI3K/Akt, and Wnt/β-catenin. We also explore the various roles of PRF as a scaffold, filler, and in combination with bone graft materials, detailing how PRF promotes alveolar bone regeneration and provides a wealth of experimental evidence. Finally, we summarize the current applications of PRF in various oral fields. The role of PRF in alveolar bone regeneration is becoming increasingly important, and its role and mechanism are receiving more and more research and understanding. This article will provide a reference of significant value for research in related fields. The exploration of the role and mechanism of PRF in alveolar bone regeneration may lead to the discovery of new therapeutic targets and the development of more effective and efficient treatment strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND For decades, facial fat grafting has been used in clinical practice for volume restoration. The main challenge of this technique is variable volume retention. The addition of supplements to augment fat grafts and increase volume retention has been reported in recent years. OBJECTIVES The aim of this systematic review was to investigate which supplements increase volume retention in facial fat grafting as assessed by volumetric outcomes and patient satisfaction. METHODS Embase, Medline, Ovid, Web of Science Core Collection, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Google Scholar were searched up to November 30, 2020. Only studies assessing volume after facial fat grafting with supplementation in human subjects were included. Outcomes of interest were volume or patient satisfaction. The quality of the studies was assessed with the Effective Public Health Practice Project tool. RESULTS After duplicates were removed 3724 studies were screened by title and abstract. After reading 95 full-text articles, 27 studies were eligible and included for comparison. Supplementation comprised of platelet-rich plasma, platelet-rich fibrin, adipose tissue-derived stromal cells or bone marrow-derived stromal cells, cellular or tissue stromal vascular fraction, or nanofat. In 13 out of 22 studies the supplemented group showed improved volumetric retention and 5 out of 16 studies showed greater satisfaction. The scientific quality of the studies was rated as weak for 20 of 27 studies, moderate for 6 of 27 studies, and strong for 1 study. CONCLUSIONS It remains unclear if additives contribute to facial fat graft retention and there is a need to standardize methodology. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 4

Abstract
Current trends indicate a growing interest among healthcare specialists and the public in the use of regenerative medicine-based approaches for skin regeneration. The approaches are categorised in either cell-based or cell-free therapies and are reportedly safe and effective. Cell-based therapies include mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), tissue induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), fibroblast-based products, and blood-derived therapies, such as those employing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) products. Cell-free therapies primarily involve the use of MSC-derived extracellular vesicles/exosomes. MSCs are isolated from various tissues, such as fat, bone marrow, umbilical cord, menstrual blood, and foetal skin, and expanded ex vivo before transplantation. In cell-free therapies, MSC exosomes, MSC-derived cultured media, and MSC-derived extracellular vesicles are collected from MSC-conditioned media or supernatant. In this review, a literature search of the Cochrane Library, MEDLINE (PubMed), EMBASE, and Scopus was conducted using several combinations of terms, such as ‘stem’, ‘cell’, ‘aging’, ‘wrinkles’, ‘nasolabial folds’, ‘therapy’, ‘mesenchymal stem cells’, and ‘skin’, to identify relevant articles providing a comprehensive update on the different regenerative medicine-based therapies and their application to skin regeneration. In addition, the regulatory perspectives on the clinical application of some of these therapies in Japan are highlighted. The use of regenerative medicine-based therapy for skin rejuvenation is expanding. Therapies can be categorised as either cell-based or cell-free therapies. MSCs can be isolated from various tissues for cosmetic applications. MSC-derived exosomes increase skin cell proliferation and migration. In Japan, most cell-based treatments carry class II/III regenerative medicine risks.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Regenerative aesthetics is an emerging branch of regenerative medicine with therapies aimed at recapturing youthful structure and function using the body's own systems. OBJECTIVE To introduce the field of regenerative aesthetics, and to explore themes and evidence surrounding current and emerging therapies in the field. MATERIALS AND METHODS A review of the literature was performed for each of the 3 pillars of regeneration; namely, stem cells, biochemical cues, and scaffolds. RESULTS Herein, we provide an overview of the field of regenerative aesthetics, a discussion surrounding the 3 pillars of regeneration, and an overview of the evidence supporting current and emerging therapeutic modalities that could play a pivotal role in the future of aesthetic treatments. CONCLUSION An enhanced understanding of this field can serve to further enhance our awareness about the regenerative effects of therapies we already offer, in addition to providing inspiration for future innovation.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) rejuvenation's efficacy has been reported by numerous uncontrolled clinical case studies of inconsistent quality rather than large randomized and placebo-controlled trials. It was suggested that PRP could be considered as a valid anti-aging and rejuvenation treatment modality. The current literature review summarizes available evidence so far described in the literature with special critical attention to higher quality comparative studies published over the last 10 years. The few studies that could be retrieved and included in this review documented less favorable results. So far, there is no international consensus on clinical PRP use for esthetic rejuvenation. Whether a mix of growth factors does in fact generate a clinically significant more youthful look and whether PRP injections result in comparable or better rejuvenation than what can be expected from other simpler non-surgical modalities. Abstract
Use of stem cells to treat various diseases in dermatology has been of interest. Conditioned media with the growth factors secreted from stem cells has been used as a topical agent. We report a case of foreign body granulomas that appeared days after dermal injection of the conditioned media mimicking scars at all injection sites.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) showed positive results in the improvement of skin aging. Lyophilized PRP can be interesting in clinical practice due to the facility to obtain many samples in a single blood collection and can be used in multiple injections. To evaluate the effect of lyophilized PRP in the treatment of skin aging, through a Phase II pilot study. Nineteen women (54 years ± 7 years) with Glogau photoaging II and III types were select for this non-randomized, split-face controlled study. They received monthly intradermal injections of lyophilized PRP and saline solution (as control) into the facial skin, during a period of 2 months. The evaluation was performed by imaging method, histological techniques, and multiphoton microscopy. Although lyophilized PRP presented 10 times the platelet baseline value (P < .0001) and growth factors in adequate levels, only saline solution showed an increase of dermis thickness (p = .0009). Collagen pre and post-application remained the same for both types of treatments. The use of lyophilized PRP by mesotherapy showed no improvement on skin aging.
