Abstract
Profound insight into the electronic structures of occasionally observed μ2-P bridging phosphinines remains limited. In this work, we present the isolation and X-ray crystallographic characterization of a dimeric Rh(I) phosphinine complex exhibiting both η1-P and μ2-P phosphinine coordination modes. Variable temperature NMR analyses and DOSY spectrum measurement confirmed the presence of two types of fluxional phenomena in solution: η1-P phosphinine bonding and dissociation, and η1-P and μ2-P equilibrium. DFT calculations in conjunction with single crystal X-ray diffraction studies suggest that the μ2-P phosphinines donate four electrons via a σ-lone pair and a high-lying π-type electron pair, instead of two σ-lone pairs, forming σ- and π-three-center-two-electron bonds. The stronger π-type interactions lead to longer P-C bonds and larger negative coordination chemical shifts for μ2-P phosphinines. However, the binding interactions of μ2-P are thermodynamically weaker than those of η1-P. Reactivity studies further confirm the labile nature of the μ2-P phosphinine bonds, which could be easily converted to an η1-P phosphinine.

Abstract
The synthesis and reactivity of an ambiphilic iridium complex IrCl(PPh3)(L1) (1; L1 = P(N(o-N(2-pyridyl)C6H4)2)) featuring a chelating nontrigonal phosphorus triamide ligand is reported. The tandem Lewis basic Ir and Lewis acidic P of 1 achieve a two-site oxidative addition of phenol giving the iridaphenoxyphosphorane species IrHCl(PPh3)(L1OPh) (3'). In contrast, reactions of 1 with benzenethiol and benzeneselenol do not engage L1 and instead proceed via metal-centered oxidative addition of the chalcogen-hydrogen bond. These findings establish metal-ligand cooperation involving nonspectator reactivity of tricoordinate phosphorus ligands.

Abstract
The first example of a triply bridging (μ3 -P) phosphine ligand has been discovered in the crown-shaped [Cu3 (μ2 -Hal)3 L] (Hal=Cl, Br, or I) complexes supported by tris[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]phosphine (L). Theoretical analysis completely confirms the observed μ3 -P-bridging pattern, revealing the interaction of the same lone pair of phosphorus with three valence 4s-orbitals of Cu atoms. The presented complexes exhibit outstanding blue phosphorescence (λem =442-465 nm) with the quantum efficiency reaching 100 %. The complex [Cu3 (μ2 -I)3 L] also exhibits remarkable thermo- and mechanochromic luminescence resulting in a sharp change in the emission colour upon external stimuli. These findings essentially contribute to coordination chemistry of the pnictine ligands.

Abstract
Chiral, π-conjugated 3,4-butano-1-phenyl-2,5-bis(2-pyridyl)phosphole derivatives 1a(2,2') and 1a(3) with chiral trans-1,2-diol moieties and fused pinene derivatives, respectively, were prepared from the corresponding chiral diynes by using the Fagan-Nugent method. Their UV/Vis absorption and chiroptical properties (optical rotation and circular dichroism) were studied. Their behavior as N,P,N chelates towards coordination of Cu(I) and formation of chiral supramolecular assemblies with π-conjugated ditopic dicyano ligands was investigated. Chiral C(2)-symmetric rectangles that are [2,2]paracyclophane analogues were obtained, as demonstrated by X-ray crystallography. During the course of this study, the first stable water-soluble phosphole derivative (1a(2)·2 HCl) was prepared. Furthermore, achiral 3,4-butano-1-phenyl-2,5-bis(aza[4]helicene)phosphole 1a(4) was synthesized and displays extended π conjugation. A supramolecular rectangle was obtained by coordination to Cu(I) and assembly with a dicyano stilbene. This coordination-driven supramolecular assembly contains a total of four aza[4]helicene moieties and displays two types of π-π stacking interactions in the solid state, that is, between two helicene moieties and between one helicene and a bridging dicyano ligand. All the supramolecular arrangements are discussed by comparing them with previous work on the parent 3,4-butano-1-phenyl-2,5-bis(2-pyridyl)phosphole.

Abstract
Rare examples of homodinuclear zwitterionic Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes with bridging, two-coordinate P{cyclo-CH(2)N(R)CHN(R)CH(2)} ligands (R = 4-FC(6)H(4)CH(2), C(6)H(5)CH(2)) have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction using synchrotron radiation. Short N-C distances and enlarged N-C-N bond angles support electron delocalization in the central N-C-N backbone.

Abstract
The synthesis and properties of linear π-conjugated systems incorporating phosphole rings are described. Their supramolecular organization in the solid state can be controlled either by chemical modifications or coordination to transition metals of the phosphorus atom. Furthermore, chemical transformations of the phosphole ring allow organizing these P-chromophores in 3D assemblies exhibiting σ-π conjugation or in organometallic ferrocene-like derivatives. Phosphole-pyridine-containing π-conjugated chromophores act as P,N-chelates toward transition-metal ions, giving rise to mono- and di-nuclear complexes. The specific properties of these complexes make them valuable materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and interesting building blocks for the tailoring of π-conjugated systems.

Abstract
The kinetics for the bridge-to-chelate isomerization of the dppe ligand in H4Ru4(CO)10(dppe) have been investigated by UV-vis and NMR spectroscopies over the temperature range of 308-328 K. The isomerization of the ligand-bridged cluster 1,2-H4Ru4(CO)10(dppe) (1-br) was found to be reversible by 31P NMR spectroscopy, affording a K(eq) = 15.7 at 323 K in favor of the chelating dppe isomer 1-ch. The forward (k1) and reverse (k(-1)) first-order rate constants for the reaction have been measured in different solvents and in the presence of ligand-trapping agents (CO and PPh3). On the basis of the activation parameters and reaction rates that are unaffected by added CO and PPh3, a sequence involving the nondissociative migration of a phosphine moiety and two CO groups between basal ruthenium centers is proposed and discussed.

Abstract
Self-assembly of CuI dimers, featuring a bridging phosphole ligand, and ditopic cyano-substituted chromophores affords nanosize supramolecular cationic rectangles. Due to the short Cu-Cu distance in the bimetallic clips, the coordinated chromophores are forced to participate in cofacial pi-pi interactions as evidenced by X-ray data. In addition, intermolecular pi-pi interactions in the solid state are observed leading to infinite columns of pi-stacked (para-phenylenevinylene)-based chromophores.
