Abstract
A novel, efficient, and practical route to dibenzoxazepinones has been developed through a one-pot heterogeneous palladium-catalyzed aminocarbonylation/aromatic nucleophilic substitution (SNAr) sequence starting from readily available 2-iodofluorobenzenes and 2-aminophenols. The carbonylative cyclization reaction proceeds smoothly in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at 120 °C with 1,8-diazabicyclo(5.4.0)undec-7-ene (DBU) as the base by using a polyamidoamine (PAMAM)-dendronized SBA-15-supported bidentate phosphine-palladium complex [G(1)-2P-Pd(OAc)2-SBA-15] as the catalyst under 10 bar of CO, yielding a wide variety of dibenzo[b,e][1,4]oxazepin-11(5H)-one derivatives in good to excellent yields. Moreover, this new heterogenized dendritic palladium catalyst has competitive advantages in that it can be facilely recovered by simple filtration in air and recycled more than eight times without any significant loss of activity. The broad substrate scope, high functional group tolerance, and excellent palladium catalyst recyclability of the reaction make this approach a general, efficient, and economical method for the construction of valuable dibenzoxazepinone derivatives.

Abstract
In this work, using layered double hydroxide (LDH) inorganic substrate, melamine as binding agent and dendrimer G1 and also pyromellitic acid (PMA) organic catalytic agent a heterogeneous acid catalyst was designed and prepared. After that, the prepared organic-inorganic catalyst was evaluated by various identification techniques such as FTIR, EDX, XRD, TGA, FESEM, and BET, and the results showed that the desired structure was successfully prepared. Also, in order to investigate the efficiency of the LDH@Me-PMA nanocatalyst as an efficient and heterogeneous catalyst, it was used for green and one-pot synthesis of 2,3-dihydro quinazoline and 3,4-dihydropyrimidinone-2-(1H)-ones derivatives. The use of LDH@Me-PMA catalyst led to the synthesis of the desired derivatives with higher efficiency and shorter reaction time than previously reported works. In addition, the prepared LDH@Me-PMA acid catalyst has the ability to be recycled and reused for 5 consecutive periods and has high stability, which is well consistent with the principles of green chemistry.

Abstract
This paper details the use of computational and informatics methods to design metal nanocluster catalysts for efficient ammonia synthesis. Three main problems are tackled: defining a measure of catalytic activity, choosing the best candidate from a large number of possibilities, and identifying the thermodynamically stable cluster catalyst structure. First-principles calculations, Bayesian optimization, and particle swarm optimization are used to obtain a Ti8 nanocluster as a catalyst candidate. The N2 adsorption structure on Ti8 indicates substantial activation of the N2 molecule, while the NH3 adsorption structure suggests that NH3 is likely to undergo easy desorption. The study also reveals several cluster catalyst candidates that break the general trade-off that surfaces that strongly adsorb reactants also strongly adsorb products.

Abstract
Two-dimensional polymers (2DPs), single-layer networks of covalently linked monomers, show perspectives as membranes and in electronics. However, 2D polymerization of monomers in orthogonal directions limited the formation of 2DPs on nanoparticles (NPs) with high surface curvatures. Here we propose a high-curvature 2D polymerization to form a single-layer 2DP network as a non-contacting ligand on the surface of NPs for their stabilization and functionalization. The high-curvature 2D polymerization of amphiphilic Gemini monomers was conducted in situ on surfaces of NPs with various sizes, shapes, and materials, forming highly cross-linked 2DPs. Selective etching of core-shell NPs led to 2DPs as a non-contact ligand of yolk-shell structures with excellent shape retention and high NP-surface accessibility. In addition, by copolymerization, the 2DP ligands can covalently link to other functional molecules. This work promotes the development of 2DPs on NPs for their functional modification.

Abstract
Dendrimers are attractive macromolecules for a broad range of applications owing to their well-defined shapes and dimensions, highly branched and globular architectures, and opportunities for exploiting multivalency. Triazine dendrimers in particular offer advantages such as ease of synthesis, stability, well-defined spherical structure, multivalency, potential to achieve acceptable drug loadings, and low polydispersity. In this study, the potential utility of alkyne-azide "click" cycloadditions of first-, second-, and third-generation triazine dendrimers containing three or six alkynyl groups with benzyl azide was examined using copper catalysts. "Click-and-grow" and "grow-then-click" strategies were employed. For the first- and second- generation dendrimers, the desired triazole derivatives were obtained in high yields and purified by simple reprecipitation without column chromatography; however, some difficulties were observed in the preparation of third-generation dendrimers. The desired reaction proceeded under microwave irradiation as well as with simple heating. This click chemistry can be utilized for various melamine dendrimers that are fabricated with other amine linkers.

Abstract
An atom- and step-economical strategy for the synthesis of bisphosphinoylaminomethanes is reported. This metal-free bisphosphinylation reaction proceeded smoothly through a base-mediated direct 1,1-bisphosphonation of phosphine oxides and isocyanides under mild conditions. The present method offers a facile, efficient, and general approach to a broad range of bisphosphinoylaminomethane derivatives in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
Abstract
Linear diepoxide-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) of molar mass 600, 1000 and 2000 g mol−1 was end-linked with dendrimer-star polymer (PAMAM) of generations 1.0 in water to prepare architecturally well-defined copolymer hydrogels. The structures and properties of the products were characterized using infrared, 1H NMR, DSC measurements, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and swelling behavior tests. The swelling behavior of these hydrogels was tested in distilled water at constant temperature and the equilibrium swelling ratio (ESR) was determined for structurally different hydrogels and various environmental conditions, which showed that ESR was influenced by the molecular weight of PEG, the molar ratio of H amine groups/epoxy groups, temperature and pH. Higher ESR was obtained for either longer-chain PEG, non-stoichiometric H amine/epoxy groups ratio, acidic pH or lower temperatures. When the hydrogel was switched from 10 °C to 65 °C and pH 3.5 to 11.5, the swelling behavior of the hydrogels showed good reversibility for swelling–deswelling. When the molecular weight of PEG was changed in the range of 600–2000, the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of hydrogel increased from 30 to 40 °C. When the molar ratio of H amine/epoxy groups was changed, the LCST was not significantly changed.

Abstract
Understanding how transition metals bind and activate dioxygen (O2 ) is limited by experimental and theoretical uncertainties, making accurate quantum mechanical descriptors of interest. Here we report coupled-cluster CCSD(T) energies with large basis sets and vibrational and relativistic corrections for 160 3d, 4d, and 5d metal-O2 systems. We define four reaction energies (120 in total for the 30 metals) that quantify O-O activation and reveal linear relationships between metal-oxygen and O-O binding energies. The CCSD(T) data can be combined with thermochemical cycles to estimate chemisorption and physisorption energies for each metal from metal oxide embedding energies, in good correlation with atomization enthalpies (R2 =0.75). Spin-geometry variations can break the linearities, of interest to circumventing the Sabatier principle. Pt, Pd, Co, and Fe form a distinct group with the weakest O2 binding. R2 up to 0.84 between surface adsorption energies and our energies for MO2 systems indicate relevance also to real catalytic systems.

Abstract
Ligand design in metal chemistry is a fundamental step when pursuing compounds with specific reactivity. In this paper, the functionalization of the OH group in the lateral chain of the N-heterocyclic-carbene (NHC) ligand bound to a bis-carbonyl cyclopentadienone NHC ruthenium(0) complex allowed the decoration of five generations of poly(propyleneimine) (PPIs) dendrimers with up to 64 organometallic moieties. The coupling was achieved by employing carbonyldiimidazole and the formation of carbamate linkages between dendritic peripheral NH2 and lateral OH groups on ruthenium complexes. The synthetic procedure, chemical purification, and spectroscopic characterization of the five generations of dendrimers (3g1–5) are here described. The ruthenium-modified dendrimers were activated as catalysts in the transfer hydrogenation of the model compound 4-fluoroacetophenone in the presence of cerium ammonium nitrate as their mononuclear congeners. The catalytic activity, being similar for the five generations, shows a decrease if compared to mononuclear complexes. This detrimental effect might be ascribed to the –CH2NH– functionalization, largely present in dendrimer skeleton and that can compete with the hydrogen transfer mechanism, but also partially to a dendritic effect caused by steric encumbrance.

Abstract
N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have become one of the most widely studied class of ligands in molecular chemistry and have found applications in fields as varied as catalysis, the stabilization of reactive molecular fragments, and biochemistry. More recently, NHCs have found applications in materials chemistry and have allowed for the functionalization of surfaces, polymers, nanoparticles, and discrete, well-defined clusters. In this review, we provide an in-depth look at recent advances in the use of NHCs for the development of functional materials.

Abstract
Within the green chemistry context, heterogeneous catalysis is more and more applied to organic synthesis. The well known ‘click chemistry’ and especially its flagship, the copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC), is now catch up by such heterogenisation process and copper ions or metals have been grafted or deposited on or into various solids, such as (bio)polymers, charcoal, silica, zeolites, POM or MOF.

Abstract
The recovery and reuse of catalysts is a major challenge in the development of sustainable chemical processes. Two methods at the frontier between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis have recently emerged for addressing this problem: loading the catalyst onto a dendrimer or onto a magnetic nanoparticle. In this Account, we describe representative examples of these two methods, primarily from our research group, and compare them. We then describe new chemistry that combines the benefits of these two methods of catalysis. Classic dendritic catalysis has involved either attaching the catalyst covalently at the branch termini or within the dendrimer core. We have used chelating pyridyltriazole ligands to insolubilize catalysts at the termini of dendrimers, providing an efficient, recyclable heterogeneous catalysts. With the addition of dendritic unimolecular micelles olefin metathesis reactions catalyzed by commercial Grubbs-type ruthenium-benzylidene complexes in water required unusually low amounts of catalyst. When such dendritic micelles include intradendritic ligands, both the micellar effect and ligand acceleration promote faster catalysis in water. With these types of catalysts, we could carry out azide alkyne cycloaddition ("click") chemistry with only ppm amounts of CuSO4·5H2O and sodium ascorbate under ambient conditions. Alternatively we can attach catalysts to the surface of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), essentially magnetite (Fe3O4) or maghemite (γ-Fe2O3), offering the opportunity to recover the catalysts using magnets. Taking advantage of the merits of both of these strategies, we and others have developed a new generation of recyclable catalysts: dendritic magnetically recoverable catalysts. In particular, some of our catalysts with a γ-Fe2O3@SiO2 core and 1,2,3-triazole tethers and loaded with Pd nanoparticles generate strong positive dendritic effects with respect to ligand loading, catalyst loading, catalytic activity and recyclability. In other words, the dendritic catalysts were more efficient and more stable than their nondendritic γ-Fe2O3@SiO2 analogues. The bulk at the dendritic periphery helps to localize the metal nanoparticles at the SPION core surface, which confers these advantages. We could also use sonification as a remarkably simple and efficient method to impregnate the SPIONs with dendrimer-encapsulated PdNPs. Catalysis within the hydrophobic dendrimer pockets that include ligands leads to rapid turnover with or without a γ-Fe2O3@SiO2 core. In addition, catalytically active metal nanoparticles are more robust when they are loaded onto the surface of a γ-Fe2O3@SiO2 dendritic core. Herein, we illustrate this chemistry with examples including olefin metathesis, click chemistry, cross carbon-carbon bond forming reactions, and selective alcohol oxidation.

Abstract
Five new 1,2-disubstituted ferrocene derivatives have been efficiently synthesized. These compounds contain one protected phosphine function as thiophosphine, another coordination site (nitrogen or oxygen atom) and a function ready for the grafting on various supports. All compounds have been and fully characterized by NMR(1H, 31P and 13C) and High Resolution Mass Spectroscopy. The molecular structure of three of these ferrocene derivatives have been determined by X ray diffraction analysis on monocrystals.

Abstract
The transition metal complexes containing chiral phosphorus ligands are the most widely and successfully used catalysts in asymmetric hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds. However, a major problem associated with these homogeneous catalytic systems is the separation and recycling of the often expensive and easily oxidized chiral catalysts. In addition, many hydrogenation reactions still lack efficient chiral catalysts, and the stereoselectivities in many hydrogenation reactions are substrate-dependent. Therefore, the development of highly effective and recyclable chiral phosphorus catalysts is highly desirable. Over the past few decades, a number of chiral catalysts have been successfully anchored onto different supports, such as cross-linked polymeric resins and inorganic materials. However, most of the classical supported chiral catalysts suffered from inferior catalytic properties to their homogeneous counterparts due to poor accessibility, random anchoring, and disturbed geometry of the active sites in the solid matrix. To overcome this drawback, dendrimers, which have well-defined and globular macromolecular architectures serve as a promising type of soluble catalyst support. The catalytic sites are generally located at the core or on the periphery of the dendrimer, and the resulting dendritic catalysts are designable. Incorporation of a chiral catalyst into a sterically demanding dendrimer will create a specific microenvironment around the catalytic site and thus influence the catalytic performance of the metal center, like an enzyme does. In this Account, we survey the development of core-functionalized chiral dendritic phosphorus ligands for asymmetric hydrogenation mainly by our research group. Several series of chiral dendritic phosphorus ligands, including diphosphines, monodentate phosphoramidites, and P,N-ligands, have been synthesized by attaching the corresponding chiral phosphorus units into the core or the focal point of Fréchet-type dendrons. Their transition metal (Ru, Rh, or Ir) complexes have been applied in the asymmetric hydrogenation of prochiral olefins and ketones, as well as some challenging imine-type substrates. All reactions were carried out in a homogeneous manner, and the structure-property relationships in some cases were established. The sterically demanding dendritic wedges were found to play important roles in catalytic properties, and better catalytic activities or enantioselectivities or both than those obtained from the corresponding monomeric catalysts were achieved in most cases. In addition, the dendritic catalysts could be readily recycled by means of solvent precipitation, water- or temperature-induced two-phase separation. Our study has thus demonstrated that dendrimer catalysis could combine the advantages of both classical heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis.

Abstract
In biology enzyme concentrations are continuously regulated, yet for synthetic catalytic systems such regulatory mechanisms are underdeveloped. We now report how a substrate of a chemical reaction induces the formation of its own catalyst from a dynamic molecular network. After complete conversion of the substrate, the network disassembles the catalyst. These results open up new opportunities for controlling catalysis in synthetic chemical systems.
