Abstract
An efficient and scalable method for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-ones through benzylic oxidation of tetrahydroisoquinoline derivatives using a catalytic amount of cerium ammonium nitrate (CAN) and a stoichiometric amount of NaBrO3 as oxidants was developed. The reaction is significantly influenced by the substituent groups on the phenyl ring. While electron-withdrawing groups on the phenyl ring can lower the reactivities of the substrates, electron-donating groups on the phenyl ring can dramatically promote the oxidation rate.

Abstract
Aromatic ketones are important pharmaceutical intermediates, especially the pyridin-2-yl-methanone motifs. Thus, synthetic methods for these compounds have gained extensive attention in the last few years. Transition metals catalyze the oxidation of Csp3-H for the synthesis of aromatic ketones, which is arresting. Here, we describe an efficient copper-catalyzed synthesis of pyridin-2-yl-methanones from pyridin-2-yl-methanes through a direct Csp3-H oxidation approach with water under mild conditions. Pyridin-2-yl-methanes with aromatic rings, such as substituted benzene, thiophene, thiazole, pyridine, and triazine, undergo the reaction well to obtain the corresponding products in moderate to good yields. Several controlled experiments are operated for the mechanism exploration, indicating that water participates in the oxidation process, and it is the single oxygen source in this transformation. The current work provides new insights for water-involving oxidation reactions.

Abstract
Herein, we report an efficient and practical approach for synthesizing diaryl(het) ketones from R-CO-CHR-Ar through a simultaneous oxidative cleavage of C-C and C-H bonds using KOtBu. This method enables synthesizing a variety of unsymmetrical and symmetrical (hetero)aryl ketones in excellent yields, which are otherwise difficult to make. Besides, we synthesized natural products using this method.

Abstract
A simple approach for the intramolecular aroylation of electron-rich arenes under mild conditions has been developed. A pH-controlled polarity umpolung strategy can be used to synthesize different fluorenones, which are important building blocks for biological applications. Unlike previous acylation reactions involving nucleophilic aroyl radicals, this approach likely relies on in situ generated electrophilic aroyl radicals. Detailed mechanistic and computational investigations provide detailed insights into the reaction mechanism and support the hypothesis of a pH-mediated umpolung.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as versatile candidates of interest in heterogeneous catalysis. Recent research and developments with MOFs positively endorse their role as catalysts in generating invaluable organic compounds. To harness the full potential of MOFs in value-added organic transformation, a comprehensive look at how these materials are likely to involve in the catalytic processes is essential. Mainstays of MOFs such as metal nodes, linkers, encapsulation materials, and enveloped structures tend to produce capable catalytic active sites that offer solutions to reduce human efforts in developing new organic reactions. The main advantages of choosing MOFs as reusable catalysts are the flexible and robust skeleton, regular porosity, high pore volume, and accessible synthesis accompanied with cost-effectiveness. As hosts for active metals, sole MOFs, modified MOFs, and MOFs have made remarkable advances as solid catalysts. The extensive exploration of the MOFs possibly led to their fast adoption in fabricating new biological molecules such as pyridines, quinolines, quinazolinones, imines, and their derivatives. This review covers the varied MOFs and their catalytic properties in facilitating the selective formation of the product organic moieties and interprets MOF’s property responsible for their elegant performance.

Abstract
The first total synthesis of the pyrrolo[2,3-c]quinoline alkaloid trigonoine B (1) was accomplished via a six-step sequence involving the construction of an N-substituted 4-aminopyrrolo[2,3-c]quinoline framework via electrocyclization of 2-(pyrrol-3-yl)benzene containing a carbodiimide moiety as a 2-azahexatriene system. The employed six-step sequence afforded trigonoine B (1) in 9.2% overall yield. The described route could be employed for the preparation of various N-substituted 4-aminopyrroloquinolines with various biological activities.

Abstract
An iron catalyzed reaction for the selective transformation of thiols (-SH) to sulfinamides (-SONH2 ) by a direct transfer of -O and free -NH2 groups has been developed. The reaction operates under mild conditions using a bench stable hydroxylamine derived reagent, exhibits broad functional group tolerance, is scalable and proceeds without the use of any precious metal catalyst or additional oxidant. This novel, practical reaction leads to the formation of two distinct new bonds (S=O and S-N) in a single step to chemoselectively form valuable, unprotected sulfinamide products. Preliminary mechanistic studies implicate the role of the alcoholic solvent as an oxygen atom donor.

Abstract
There is an ever-increasing demand for impurity compounds for use in impurity profiling as regulatory agencies seek information during registration. Herein, we report the FeCl3-catalyzed oxidative decarboxylation of aryl- and heteroaryl acetic acids to the corresponding carbonyl compounds. A variety of useful aldehydes and ketones were prepared in a simple one-pot transformation by employing an environmentally benign, low-cost, and readily available iron salt. The utility of this method has been demonstrated by preparing five valuable API impurities including a multi-gram-scale synthesis of ketorolac impurity B for the first time.

Abstract
A metal-free organocatalytic system has been developed for highly efficient benzylic C-H oxygenations of cyclic ethers using oxygen as an oxidant. This oxidation reaction utilizes α-angelica lactone as a low cost/low molecular weight catalyst. The optimized reaction conditions allow the synthesis of valued isocoumarins and phthalides from readily available precursors in good yields. Mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction pathway likely involves a radical process via a peroxide intermediate.

Abstract
AbstractDifferent benzylic compounds were efficiently oxidized to the corresponding ketones with aqueous 70% tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) and the catalytic system composed of CuCl2.2H2O and 2,2’-biquinoline-4,4’-dicarboxylic acid dipotassium salt (BQC). The catalytic system CuCl2/BQC/TBHP allows obtaining high yields at room temperature under organic solvent-free conditions. The interest of this system lies in its cost effectiveness and its benign nature towards the environment. Benzylic tertbutylperoxy ethers and benzylic alcohols were observed and suggested as the reaction intermediates. Analysis of organic products by atomic absorption did not show any contamination with copper metal. In terms of efficiency, CuCl2/BQC system is comparable or superior to the most of the catalytic systems described in the literature and which are based on toxic organic solvent.

Abstract
Benzimidazoles are common in nature, medicines, and materials. Numerous strategies for preparing 2-arylbenzimidazoles exist. In this work, 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles were prepared from various mono- and disubstituted ortho-phenylenediamines (OPD) by iron-catalyzed oxidative coupling. Specifically, O2 and FeCl3·6H2O catalyzed the cross-dehydrogenative coupling and aromatization of diarylmethyl and dialkyl benzimidazole precursors. N,N'-Disubstituted-OPD substrates were significantly more reactive than their N,N-disubstituted isomers, which appears to be relative to their propensity for complexation and charge transfer with Fe3+. The reaction also converted N-monosubstituted OPD substrates to 2-substituted benzimidazoles; however, electron-poor substrates produce 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles by intermolecular imino-transfer. Kinetic, reagent, and spectroscopic (UV-vis and EPR) studies suggest a mechanism involving metal-substrate complexation, charge transfer, and aerobic turnover, involving high-valent Fe(IV) intermediates. Overall, comparative strategies for the relatively sustainable and efficient synthesis of 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles are demonstrated.

Abstract
Herein, we report a highly chemoselective and efficient heterogeneous MnO2 @Fe3 O4 MNP catalyst for the oxidation of benzylic sp3 C-H group of ethers using TBHP as a green oxidant to afford ester derivatives in high yield under batch/continuous flow module. This catalyst was also effective for the benzylic sp3 C-H group of methylene derivatives to furnish the ketone in high yield which can be easily integrated into continuous flow condition for scale up. The catalyst is fully characterized by spectroscopic techniques and it was found that 0.424 % MnO2 @Fe3 O4 catalyzes the reaction; the magnetic nanoparticles of this catalyst could be easily recovered from the reaction mixture. The recovered catalyst was recycled for twelve cycles without any loss of the catalytic activity. The advantages of MnO2 @Fe3 O4 MNP are its catalytic activity, easy preparation, recovery, and recyclability, gram scale synthesis with a TOF of up to 14.93 h-1 and low metal leaching during the reaction.

Abstract
It is a long-standing challenge to achieve efficient and highly selective aerobic oxidation of methylarenes to benzaldehydes, owing to overoxidation problem stemming from the oxidizability of benzaldehyde far higher than the toluene under usual aerobic conditions. Herein we report a bio-inspired iron-catalyzed polymethylhydrosiloxane-promoted aerobic oxidation of methylarenes to benzaldehydes with high yields and selectivities. Notably, this method can tolerate oxidation-labile and reactive boronic acid group, which is normally required to be transformed immediately after its introduction, and represents a significant advance in the area of the chemistry of organoboronic acids, including the ability to incorporate both aldehyde and ketone functionalities into unprotected arylboronic acids, a class that can be difficult to access by current means. The robustness of this protocol is demonstrated on the late-stage oxidation of complex bioactive molecules, including dehydroabietic acid, Gemfibrozil, Tocopherol nicotinate, a complex polyol structure, and structurally complex arylboronic acids. Oxidation of toluenes to benzaldehydes is usually accompanied by overoxidation products. Here, the authors report an iron-catalysed aerobic oxidation of methylarenes to benzaldehydes with high yields and selectivities, even in presence of boronic acid groups and in complex natural products and drugs.

However, the direct contact between the metal probe and the reaction mixture does not always leave the chemical system unaffected. In this report, we study the tert-butyl hydroperoxide-mediated trifluoromethylation of heterocyclic structures, and the influence of sonication thereon. Metal leaching is observed during the process and further examined, showing that several metals can interfere significantly with the chemical reaction under study. Notably, vanadium metal was found to increase the reaction rate exceptionally well, rendering it a useful additive for this type of reactions. Ultimately, some mechanistic considerations are offered, to provide more insight into the nature of the catalytic effect of leached metals.

Abstract
A facile synthetic procedure for the production of N-alkylated 3,4-dihydroisoquinolinone derivatives is described. The desired products were obtained by N-alkylation of 3,3′-dimethyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline derivatives followed by oxidation of the resulting iminium salts. Reaction conditions for both steps were very mild and the desired cyclization products could be obtained in good yield. This strategy allows the generation of N-substituted 3,4-dihydroisoquinolinone derivatives with substituents at the 3-position. N-Alkylated 3,4-dihydroisoquinolinone derivatives could be synthesized by N-alkylation of 3,3′-dimethyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline derivatives followed by oxidation of the resulting iminium salts.![]()
