Abstract
A photoredox-catalyzed dicarbofunctionalization of styrenes with oxime esters and CO2 has been achieved. Notably, a series of four-, five-, or six-membered cyclic ketone oximes worked well to furnish a wide range of ε-, ζ-, and η-cyanocarboxylic acids in good yields. Furthermore, a series of γ-keto acids also could be obtained by employing acyclic ketone oxime esters as the carbonyl radical precursor. It provides convergent access to diverse biologically important cyanocarboxylic and γ-keto acids.

Abstract
Nitrilases are widely distributed in nature and are able to hydrolyze nitriles into their corresponding carboxylic acids and ammonia. In industry, nitrilases have been used as green biocatalysts for the production of high value-added products. To date, biocatalysts are considered to be important alternatives to chemical catalysts due to increasing environmental problems and resource scarcity. This review provides an overview of recent advances of nitrilases in aspects of distribution, enzyme screening, molecular structure and catalytic mechanism, protein engineering, and their potential applications in industry.

Abstract
Nitrilase-mediated biocatalysis reactions have been continuously arousing wide interests by scholars and entrepreneurs in organic synthesis over the past six decades. Since regioselective nitrilases could hydrolyze only one cyano group of dinitriles into corresponding cyanocarboxylic acids, which are virtually impossible by chemical hydrolysis and of interest for a variety of applications, it becomes particularly appealing to synthetic chemists. The aim of the current review is to summarize the recent advancements on regioselective nitrilases concerning their fundamental researches and applications in synthesis of a series of high-value fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Carbon chain lengths and substituent group positions of substrates are found to be two crucial factors in affecting regioselectivity of nitrilase. Practical applications of regioselective nitrilases in synthesis of 1,5-dimethyl-2-piperidone (1,5-DMPD), atorvastatin, gabapentin, (R)-baclofen, and (S)-pregabalin were systematically reviewed. Future perspectives clearly elucidating the mechanism of regioselectivity and further molecular modifications of regioselective nitrilases integrating within silico technology for industrial applications were discussed.

Conversion of aliphatic nitriles by the arylacetonitrilase from Pseudomonas fluorescens EBC191. World J Microbiol Biotechnol 2018; 34:91. Abstract
The conversion of aliphatic nitriles by the arylacetonitrilase from Pseudomonas fluorescens EBC191 (NitA) was analyzed. The nitrilase hydrolysed a wide range of aliphatic mono- and dinitriles and showed a preference for unsaturated aliphatic substrates containing 5-6 carbon atoms. In addition, increased reaction rates were also found for aliphatic nitriles carrying electron withdrawing substituents (e.g. chloro- or hydroxy-groups) close to the nitrile group. Aliphatic dinitriles were attacked only at one of the nitrile groups and with most of the tested dinitriles the monocarboxylates were detected as major products. In contrast, fumarodinitrile was converted to the monocarboxylate and the monocarboxamide in a ratio of about 65:35. Significantly different relative amounts of the two products were observed with two nitrilase variants with altered reaction specifities. NitA converted some aliphatic substrates with higher rates than 2-phenylpropionitrile, which is one of the standard substrates for arylacetonitrilases. This indicated that the traditional classification of nitrilases as "arylacetonitrilases", "aromatic" or "aliphatic" nitrilases might require some corrections. This was also suggested by the construction of some variants of NitA which were modified in an amino acid residue which was previously suggested to be essential for the conversion of aliphatic substrates by a homologous nitrilase.

Abstract
In this study, several nitrilase genes from phylogenetically distinct organisms were expressed and purified in E. coli in order to study their ability to mediate the biotransformation of nitriles. We identified three nitrilases: Acidovorax facilis nitrilase (AcN); Alcaligenes fecalis nitrilase (AkN); and Rhodococcus rhodochrous nitrilase (RkN), which catalyzed iminodiacetonitrile (IDAN) to iminodiacetic acid (IDA). AcN demonstrated 8.8-fold higher activity for IDAN degradation as compared to AkN and RkN. Based on homology modeling and previously described ‘hot spot’ mutations, several AcN mutants were screened for improved activity. One mutant M3 (F168V/L201N/S192F) was identified, which demonstrates a 41% enhancement in the conversion as well as a 2.4-fold higher catalytic efficiency towards IDAN as compared to wild-type AcN.

Abstract
Recent advances in wet chemical synthesis of magnetically recyclable nanocatalysts (MRNCs), a versatile integration of high catalytic activity and facile recovery, have led to a dramatic expansion of their potential applications. This review focuses on the recent work in the development of metal and metal oxide based MRNCs for catalytic conversion of organic compounds in solution phase. This will be discussed in detail, according to the two main synthesis methods of MRNCs as classified by us. The two methods are: template-assisted synthetic strategy and direct synthetic strategy. And the template-assisted synthesis is further divided into three subcategories, synthetic strategies assisted by hard-, soft-, and mixed hard-soft coupling layers. At the end, we outline future trends and perspectives in these research areas.

Abstract
The first report of a biocatalytic regioselective oxidative mono-cleavage of dialkenes was successfully achieved employing a cell-free enzyme preparation from Trametes hirsuta at the expense of molecular oxygen. Selected reactions were performed on a preparative scale affording high to excellent conversions and chemoselectivities.

Abstract
Several novel nitrilases were selected from metagenomic libraries using cinnamonitrile and a mixture of six different nitriles as substrates. The nitrilase gene nit1 was expressed in Escherichia coli and the resulting protein was further examined concerning its biochemical properties. Nit1 turned out to be an aliphatic nitrilase favoring dinitriles over mononitriles. Stereochemical analysis revealed that Nit1 converted the dinitrile 2-methylglutaronitrile regioselectively. Hydrolysis at the ω-nitrile group of a dinitrile, such as catalyzed by Nit1, leads to ω-cyanocarboxylic acids, which are important precursors for chemical and pharmaceutical products. Nit1 metabolized 2-methylglutaronitrile to the corresponding ω-cyanocarboxylic acid 4-cyanopentanoic acid can be used for the production of the fine chemical 1,5-dimethyl-2-piperidone.

Abstract
Metal nanoparticles have attracted much attention over the last decade owing to their unique properties as compared to their bulk metal equivalents, including a large surface-to-volume ratio and tunable shapes. To control the properties of nanoparticles with particular respect to shape, size and dispersity is imperative, as these will determine the activity in the desired application. Supported metal nanoparticles are widely employed in catalysis. Recent advances in controlling the shape and size of nanoparticles have opened the possibility to optimise the particle geometry for enhanced catalytic activity, providing the optimum size and surface properties for specific applications. This Review describes the state of the art with respect to the preparation and use of supported metal nanoparticles in catalysis. The main groups of such nanoparticles (noble and transition metal nanoparticles) are highlighted and future prospects are discussed.
