Abstract
Here, a composite nanoparticle with an acid-base bifunctional structure has been reported for the transesterification of rapeseed oil to produce biodiesel. Triazole-PWA (PWA = 12-tungstophosphoric acid) composite materials with a hexahedral structure are produced using the precipitation method, showing the average particle diameters of 200-800 nm. XPS and FT-IR analyses indicate well-defined chemical bonding of triazole moieties to the PWA. The functionalization and immobilization of PWAs are investigated due to strong interactions with triazole, which significantly improves the thermal stability and even surface area of the heteropoly acid. Furthermore, various ratios of triazole and PWAs are examined using NH3-TPD and CO2-TPD to optimize the bi-functionality of acidity and basicity. The prepared nanomaterials are evaluated during the transesterification of rapeseed oil with methanol to analyze the effect of triazole addition to PWAs according to the different ratios. Overall, the bifunctional triazole-PWA composite nanoparticles exhibit higher fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) conversions than pure PWA nanoparticles. The optimized catalyst with a triazole:PWA ratio of 6:1 exhibits the best FAME-conversion performance due to its relatively large surface area, balance of acidity, and strong basicity from the well-designed chemical nano-structure.

Abstract
This report focuses on the remote control of anion-π catalysis by electric fields. We have synthesized and immobilized anion-π catalysts to explore the addition reaction of malonic acid half thioesters to enolate acceptors on conductive indium tin oxide surfaces. Exposed to increasing electric fields, anion-π catalysts show an increase in activity and an inversion of selectivity. These changes originate from a more than 100-fold rate enhancement of the disfavored enolate addition reaction that coincides with an increase in selectivity of transition-state recognition by up to -14.8 kJ mol-1. The addition of nitrate with strong π affinity nullified (IC50 = 2.2 mM) the responsiveness of anion-π catalysts to electric fields. These results support that the polarization of the π-acidic naphthalenediimide surface in anion-π catalysts with electric fields increases the recognition of anionic intermediates and transition states on this polarized π surface, that is, the existence and relevance of electric-field-assisted anion-π catalysis.

Abstract
The catalytic activity of different supported bifunctional thioureas on sulfonylpolystyrene resins has been studied in the nitro-Michael addition of different nucleophiles to trans-β-nitrostyrene derivatives. The activity of the catalysts depends on the length of the tether linking the chiral thiourea to the polymer. The best results were obtained with the thiourea derived from (L)-valine and 1,6-hexanediamine. The catalysts can be used in only 2 mol % loading, and reused for at least four cycles in neat conditions. The ball milling promoted additions also worked very well.

Abstract
Continuous-flow organocatalyzed Diels-Alder reactions have been performed with excellent enantioselectivity for the first time in a chiral "homemade" HPLC column, packed with silica on which a MacMillan catalyst has been supported by a straightforward immobilization procedure. The versatility of the system was also proven by running with the same column continuous-flow stereoselective reactions with three different substrates, showing that the catalytic reactor may efficiently work in continuo for more than 150 h; the regeneration of the HPLC column was also demonstrated, allowing to further extend the activity of the reactor to more than 300 operating hours.

Abstract
The beneficial effect of the bifunctional character of the chitosan@titania hybrid in heterogeneous catalysis was elucidated: considering a prototypical Henry condensation, Michael addition, and Jasminaldehyde synthesis, the cohabitation of a basic site (NH(2)) and an acidic site (Ti) in the same reactor provided clear activity and selectivity enhancements, with respect to the monofunctional acidic titania and basic chitosan counterparts.
