Abstract
We investigated a novel Cu-catalyzed annulation of 2,3-allenoic acids with diphenylphosphine oxide, leading to the formation of 4-phosphate butenolides in up to 88% yield. The formation of the C-P bond provides new avenues for the functionalization of different furan-2(5H)-ones, with favorable features such as suitable functional group tolerance and mild synthesis conditions.

Abstract
Alkyl chlorides are common functional groups in synthetic organic chemistry. However, the engagement of unactivated alkyl chlorides, especially tertiary alkyl chlorides, in transition-metal-catalyzed C-C bond formation remains challenging. Herein, we describe the development of a TiIII-catalyzed radical addition of 2° and 3° alkyl chlorides to electron-deficient alkenes. Mechanistic data are consistent with inner-sphere activation of the C-Cl bond featuring TiIII-mediated Cl atom abstraction. Evidence suggests that the active TiIII catalyst is generated from the TiIV precursor in a Lewis-acid-assisted electron transfer process.

Abstract
A ligand-controlled regioselectivity switch of ring-opening coupling reaction of diarylmethylenecyclopropa[b]naphthalenes with Grignard reagents providing differently substituted β-vinylic naphthalenes in moderate to excellent yields was reported: when Pd(OAc)2 was used, the aromatic group from the Grignard reagent regioselectively coupled to the naphthyl ring after the ring-opening of three-membered cycle, which is different from the Pd(PPh3)2Cl2-catalyzed reaction. Based on a careful NMR study, we concluded that it may be explained by the ligand effect.

Abstract
An efficient method for synthesis of polysubstituted cyclobutenones, which are not readily available from traditional methods due to the intrinsic ring strain, is described. The reaction of 2,3-allenoates and organozinc reagents proceeds via a tandem Michael addition/cyclic 1,2-addition/elimination mechanism with the functional groups from the organozinc reagents being introduced to the 3-position of the cyclobutenone products regiospecifically in moderate to excellent yields. Application to the synthesis of stereodefined β,γ-unsaturated enones is demonstrated.
