Abstract
Hydrosilylation is an important process, not only in the silicon industry to produce silicon polymers, but also in fine chemistry. In this review, the development of rhenium-based catalysts for the hydrosilylation of unsaturated bonds in carbonyl-, cyano-, nitro-, carboxylic acid derivatives and alkenes is summarized. Mechanisms of rhenium-catalyzed hydrosilylation are discussed.

Abstract
New anionic rhodium(iii) complexes, obtained by a simple reaction of RhCl3 with organic chlorides (derivatives of imidazole and pyridine), have been employed as catalysts for hydrosilylation (reduction) of acetophenone derivatives. The reactions, in which 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyltrisiloxane was a reducing agent, proceeded in a biphasic system because the above complexes are insoluble in the reaction medium. Thereby easy isolation of the complexes from post-reaction mixtures was possible after reaction completion. This is the first example of the application of rhodium complexes of this type as catalysts for ketone reduction. The complexes have shown high activity and enabled obtaining the hydrosilylation product in a very short time and in the range of low concentrations (0.1 mol%). By using FT-IR in situ analysis that enables measuring product concentrations in real time, a comparison has been made of the catalytic activity for hydrosilylation of acetophenone and methoxyacetophenone isomers shown by four rhodium complexes ([C+][RhCl4 -]) differing in cations and the most effective catalyst for this process has been distinguished.

Abstract
A series of novel cationic Re(iii) complexes [(DAAm)Re(CO)(NCCH3)2][X] [DAAm = N,N-bis(2-arylaminoethyl)methylamine; aryl = C6F5 (a), Mes (b)] [X = OTf (2), BArF4 [BArF4 = tetrakis[3,5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate] (3), BF4 (4), PF6 (5)], and their analogue [(DAmA)Re(CO)(Cl)2] [DAmA = N,N-bis(2-arylamineethyl)methylamino; aryl = C6F5] (6) were synthesized. The catalytic efficiency for the hydrosilylation reaction of aldehydes using 4a (0.03 mol%) has been demonstrated to be significantly more active than rhenium catalysts previously reported in the literature. The data suggest that electron-withdrawing substituents at the diamido amine ligand increase the catalytic efficiency of the complexes. Excellent yields were achieved at ambient temperature under neat conditions using dimethylphenylsilane. The reaction affords TONs of up to 9200 and a TOF of up to 126 h-1. Kinetic and mechanistic studies were performed, and the data suggest that the reaction is via a non-hydride ionic hydrosilylation mechanism.

Abstract
The ionic SN2-type mechanistic pathway initiated by silane end-on coordination on the metal centers, forming η1-H(Si) Mo/W complexes, is the preferred reaction pathway for the two cationic cyclopentadienyl molybdenum/tungsten complexes, [CpM(CO)2(IMes)]+ (M = Mo, W) in catalyzing carbonyl hydrosilylation.

Abstract
A simple quaternary ammonium perrhenate salt catalyses the hydrosilylation of aldehydes, ketones, and carbon dioxide, and the methylation of amines using carbon dioxide. DFT calculations show that a perrhenate hypervalent silicate interacts directly with CO2.

Abstract
The synthesis and co-ordination chemistry of a new 'bulky yet flexible' N-heterocyclic carbene ("IPaul") is reported. This carbene has spatially-defined steric impact; steric maps show that two quadrants are very bulky while the other two are quite open. The electronic properties of this carbene are very similar to those of other 1,3-diarylimidazol-2-ylidenes. Copper, silver, iridium, and nickel complexes of the new ligand have been prepared. In solution, the ligand adopts two different conformations, while X-ray crystallographic analyses of the transition metal complexes suggest that the syn-conformer is preferred in the solid state due to intermolecular interactions. The copper(i) chloride complex of this new ligand has been shown to be highly-active in the hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds, when compared to the analogous IPr, IMes, IPr* and IPr*(OMe) complexes.

Abstract
The syntheses of novel Group 5 and Group 6 hydrosilylamido complexes of the type R(ArN[double bond, length as m-dash])M{N((t)Bu)SiMe2-H}X (M = Ta, R = Cp; M = Mo, R = ArN; X = Cl, H, OBn, Me) are described. The various substituents in the X position seem to play the key role in determining the extent of β-agostic interaction with the Si-H bond. The Mo agostic hydrido complex (ArN[double bond, length as m-dash])2Mo{η(3)-N((t)Bu)SiMe2-H}H is a pre-catalyst for the hydrosilylation of carbonyls. The stoichiometric reaction between benzaldehyde and (ArN[double bond, length as m-dash])2Mo{η(3)-N((t)Bu)SiMe2-H}H gives the benzoxy complex (ArN[double bond, length as m-dash])2Mo{N((t)Bu)SiMe2-H}(OBn), which showed a similar catalytic reactivity compared to the parent hydride. Mechanistic studies suggest that a non-hydride mechanism is operative.

Abstract
The reduction of the mononitrosyl Re(II) salt [NMe(4)](2)[ReCl(5)(NO)] (1) with zinc in acetonitrile afforded the Re(i) dichloride complex [ReCl(2)(NO)(CH(3)CN)(3)] (2). Subsequent ligand substitution reactions with PCy(3), PiPr(3) and P(p-tolyl)(3) afforded the bisphosphine Re(i) complexes [ReCl(2)(NO)(PR(3))(2)(CH(3)CN)] (3, R = Cy a, iPr b, p-tolyl c) in good yields. The acetonitrile ligand in 3 is labile, permitting its replacement with H(2) (1 bar) to afford the dihydrogen Re(I) complexes [ReCl(2)(NO)(PR(3))(2)(η(2)-H(2))] (4, R = Cy a, iPr b). The catalytic activity of 2, 3 and 4 in hydrogen-related catalyses including dehydrocoupling of Me(2)NH·BH(3), dehydrogenative silylation of styrenes, and hydrosilylation of ketones and aryl aldehydes were investigated, with the main focus on phosphine and halide effects. In the dehydrocoupling of Me(2)NH·BH(3), the phosphine-free complex 2 exhibits the same activity as the bisphosphine-substituted systems. In the dehydrogenative silylation of styrenes, 3a and 4a bearing PCy(3) ligands exhibit high catalytic activities. Monochloro Re(I) hydrides [Re(Cl)(H)(NO)(PR(3))(2)(CH(3)CN)] (5, R = Cy a, iPr b) were proven to be formed in the initiation pathway. The phosphine-free complex 2 showed in dehydrogenative silylations even higher activity than the bisphosphine derivatives, which further emphasizes the importance of a facile phosphine dissociation in the catalytic process. In the hydrosilylation of ketones and aryl aldehydes, at least one rhenium-bound phosphine is required to ensure high catalytic activity.
