Abstract
Developing new enantioselective reactions is an important part of chemical discovery but requires time and resources to test large arrays of potential reaction conditions. New techniques are required to analyse many different reactions quickly and efficiently. Mass spectrometry is a high-throughput method; when combined with ion-mobility spectrometry, this technique can monitor diastereomeric reaction intermediates and thus be a handle to study enantioselective reactions. Through this technique and others, it was noted before that in the organocatalytic 1,4-addition to α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, the abundance of initial diastereomeric intermediates correlates strongly to that of the final enantiomeric products. This work determines isomeric abundance for various catalysts and aldehydes and uses it to predict the enantiomeric excess of two control reactions. The prediction matches well for one reaction but does not predict the obtained results for the second. This finding confirms that the E/Z ratio of the iminium intermediates can be used as a predictor for some reactions, but the kinetics of the following steps can dramatically change the true enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Highly substituted trans-hydrindanes were synthesized by the three-component coupling reactions of 1,3-diethyl 2-(2-oxopropylidene)propanedioate and two different α,β-unsaturated aldehydes catalyzed by diphenylprolinol silyl ether. The reaction proceeds via two successive independent catalytic domino reactions in a one-pot reaction by a single chiral catalyst. Domino reactions involve Michael/Michael and Michael/aldol reactions to afford trans-hydrindanes with excellent diastereoselectivity and nearly optically pure form.

Abstract
The aldol reaction is one of the most important carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions in organic chemistry. Asymmetric direct cross-aldol reaction of two different aldehydes has been regarded as a difficult reaction because of the side reactions such as self-aldol reaction and over reaction. We found that trifluoromethyl-substituted diarylprolinol, α,α-bis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-2-pyrrolidinemethanol (1), is an effective organocatalyst that promotes several cross-aldol reactions of aldehydes with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities. Acetaldehyde can be employed as a suitable nucleophilic aldehyde. Successful electrophilic aldehydes are ethyl glyoxylate, chloroacetaldehyde, dichloroacetaldehyde, chloral, α-alkyl-α-oxo aldehyde, trifluoroacetaldehyde, glyoxal, alkenyl aldehyde, alkynyl aldehyde, and formaldehyde. Some of the aldehydes are commercially available as a polymer solution, an aqueous solution, or in the hydrated form. They can be used directly in the asymmetric aldol reaction as a commercially available form, which is a synthetic advantage. Given that the obtained aldol products possess several functional groups along with a formyl moiety, they are synthetically useful chiral building blocks.

Abstract
The efficient preparation of chiral porous organic cages (POCs) with specific functions is challenging, and their application in asymmetric catalysis has not previously been explored. In this work, we have achieved the construction of chiral POCs based on a supramolecular tetraformyl-resorcin[4]arene scaffold with different chiral proline-modified diamine ligands and utilizing dynamic imine chemistry. The incorporation of V-shaped or linear chiral diamines affords the [4 + 8] square prism and [6 + 12] octahedral POCs respectively. The appended chiral proline moieties in such POCs make them highly active supramolecular nanoreactors for asymmetric aldol reactions, delivering up to 92% ee. The spatial distribution of chiral catalytic sites in these two types of POCs greatly affects their catalytic activities and enantioselectivities. This work not only lays a foundation for the asymmetric catalytic application of chiral POCs, but also contributes to our understanding of the catalytic function of biomimetic supramolecular systems. Two calix[4]resorcinarene-based chiral POCs with different self-assembly forms were constructed. The difference in the spatial distribution of chiral organocatalytic sites leads to the two chiral POCs exhibiting distinct stereoselectivities.![]()

Abstract
Metal-free organocatalysts are becoming an important tool for the sustainable development
of various bioactive heterocycles. On the other hand, during the last two decades,
calix[n]arenes have been gaining considerable attention due to their wide range of applicability
in the field of supramolecular chemistry. Recently, sulfonic acid functionalized calix[n]
arenes are being employed as an efficient alternative catalyst for the synthesis of various bioactive
scaffolds. In this review, we have summarized the catalytic efficiency of p-sulfonic
acid calix[n]arenes for the synthesis of diverse, biologically promising scaffolds under various
reaction conditions. There is no such review available in the literature showing the catalytic
applicability of p-sulfonic acid calix[n]arenes. Therefore, it is strongly believed that this
review will surely attract those researchers who are interested in this fascinating organocatalyst.

Abstract
The pot-economical synthesis of clinprost is reported, in which the core bicyclo[3.3.0]octenone structure was synthesized by two key steps: an asymmetric domino Michael/Michael reaction catalyzed by diphenylprolinol silyl ether and an intramolecular Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction. The trisubstituted endocyclic alkene was selectively introduced by 1,4-reduction followed by trapping of the generated enolate with Tf2NPh and subsequent utilization of the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction. Chiral, nonracemic clinprost was synthesized in seven pots with a 17% total yield and excellent enantioselectivity.

Abstract
The key nucleophile was found to be neither an enamine nor an enol, but an enolate in the direct Michael reaction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and non-activated ketones catalyzed by two amine catalysts namely diphenylprolinol silyl ether and pyrrolidine. This is a rare example of an enolate from a ketone serving as a key intermediate in the asymmetric organocatalytic reaction involving secondary amine catalysts because the ketone enolates are generally generated using a strong base, and the enamine is a common nucleophile in this type of reaction. The key nucleophile was found to be neither an enamine nor an enol, but an enolate in the direct Michael reaction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and non-activated ketones catalyzed by two amine catalysts namely diphenylprolinol silyl ether and pyrrolidine.![]()

Abstract
An efficient diarylprolinol triphenylsilyl ether-catalyzed enantioselective aza-Michael reaction of pyrimidines as N-centered nucleophiles to α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, followed by reduction, provided chiral acyclic pyrimidine nucleosides in good yields (51-78% yields for two steps) and excellent enantioselectivities (91-98% ee). In addition, the chiral acyclic pyrimidine nucleoside having the tert-butyldiphenylsilyl-protected hydroxyl substituent was successfully applied to the synthesis of the corresponding chiral cyclic pyrimidine nucleoside analogue bearing the tetrahydrofuranyl ring.

Abstract
The chlorination of Si-H bonds often requires stoichiometric amounts of metal salts in conjunction with hazardous reagents, such as tin chlorides, Cl2 , and CCl4 . The catalytic chlorination of silanes often involves the use of expensive transition-metal catalysts. By a new simple, selective, and highly efficient catalytic metal-free method for the chlorination of Si-H bonds, mono-, di-, and trihydrosilanes were selectively chlorinated in the presence of a catalytic amount of B(C6 F5 )3 or Et2 O⋅B(C6 F5 )3 and HCl with the release of H2 as a by-product. The hydrides in di- and trihydrosilanes could be selectively chlorinated by HCl in a stepwise manner when Et2 O⋅B(C6 F5 )3 was used as the catalyst. A mechanism is proposed for these catalytic chlorination reactions on the basis of competition experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations.
