Abstract
Herein, we report a copper-catalyzed protocol to access unsymmetrical triarylmethanes containing both indolizine and the chromone scaffolds in the same molecule via a 5-endo-dig cyclization of 2-(2-enynyl)-pyridines followed by reaction with 2-hydroxyaryl enaminones. A variety of 2-hydroxyaryl enaminones and 2-(2-enynyl)-pyridines were subjected to reaction under the optimal reaction conditions, and the respective triarylmethanes were obtained in good to excellent yields.

Abstract
The synthesis of chroman-3-ol derivatives via intramolecular nucleophilic additions has been established. Aldehydes can be used as alkyl carbanion equivalents via reductive polarity reversal which is facilitated by a copper catalyst and N-heterocyclic carbene ligand under mild conditions. The key to success is the difference in reaction activity between aldehydes and ketones. Finally, this methodology also can be used to construct other cyclic structures containing tertiary alcohols including tetraline, cyclohexane, indan, and 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene.

Abstract
AbstractA convenient, facile, and eco-friendly approach to synthesizing 7-phenyl-6H-chromeno[4,3-b]quinolines under microwave irradiation is presented. The current strategy enabled the synthesis of chromenoquinoline frameworks at 80 °C under shorter reaction times via intermolecular Schiff base formation followed by an intramolecular inverse demand hetero-Diels–Alder [4+2]-cycloaddition reaction by using a catalytic amount of copper triflate as the sole catalyst. Consequently, one C–N and two C–C bonds are constructed in a single pot, and a wide spread of 7-phenyl-6H-chromeno[4,3-b]quinolines have been synthesized with good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
α,β-Unsaturated ketones are common feedstocks for the synthesis of fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and natural products. Transition metal-catalysed hydroacylation reactions of alkynes using aldehydes have been recognised as an atom-economical route to access α,β-unsaturated ketones through chemoselective aldehydic C-H activation. However, the previously reported hydroacylation reactions using rhodium, cobalt, or ruthenium catalysts require chelating moiety-bearing aldehydes to prevent decarbonylation of acyl-metal-hydride complexes. Herein, we report a nickel-catalysed anti-Markovnikov selective coupling process to afford non-tethered E-enones from terminal alkynes and S-2-pyridyl thioesters in the presence of zinc metal as a reducing agent. Utilization of a readily available thioester as an acylating agent and water as a proton donor enables the mechanistically distinctive and aldehyde-free hydroacylation of terminal alkynes. This non-chelation-controlled approach features mild reaction conditions, high step economy, and excellent regio- and stereoselectivity.

Abstract
Chromones are the class of secondary metabolites broadly occurred in the plant kingdom in a noticeable quantity. This rigid bicyclic system has been categorized "as privileged scaffolds in compounds" in medicinal chemistry. The wide biological responses made them an important moiety in a drug discovery program. This review provides updates on the various methods of synthesis of chromones and biological applications in medicinal chemistry. Various synthetic strategies for the construction of chromones include readily available phenols, salicylic acid and its derivatives, ynones, chalcones, enaminones, chalcones and 2-hydroxyarylalkylketones as starting materials. Synthesis of chromones by using metal, metal free, nanomaterials and different catalysts are included. Details of diverse biological activities such as anti-cancer agents, antimicrobial agents, anti-viral property, anti-inflammatory agents, antioxidants, Monoamine Oxidase-B (MAO-B) Inhibitors, anti-Alzheimer's agents, anti-diabetic agent, antihistaminic potential, antiplatelet agents of chromone derivatives are diecussed.

Abstract
A transition-metal-free postmodification of the Groebke-Blackburn-Bienaymé (GBB) reaction for the synthesis of spiro[chromene-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin]-3'-imine was discovered. The unusual transformation represents the first example of activation and the reaction of the imidazole carbon atom. In this postcondensational modification, KOt-Bu acts as a base, which, after the isomerization of an alkyne moiety to allene, causes the next unique nucleophilic reaction of the imidazole carbon atom that results in spirocyclic structures. The proposed reaction mechanism was confirmed based on the DFT calculations.

The reactions between o-hydroxylphenyl-functionalized enaminones and sulfonyl hydrazines providing 3-sulfenylated chromones via domino chromone ring construction and C(sp2)-H bond sulfenylation have been achieved under transition-metal-free conditions by using KIO3 as the only catalyst.

Abstract
N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have emerged as powerful and elegant organocatalysts in a variety of newly developed and unprecedented enantioselective transformations due to their unique umpolung capacity. As a supplement to conventional enantioselective organocatalysis, NHC-induced non-asymmetric catalysis has gradually attracted much interest in recent years. Herein, this review aims to reveal the recent developments in NHC-promoted non-asymmetric umpolung transformations resulting in the expeditious construction of versatile achiral natural heterocycles, carbocycles and acylated products.

Abstract
A four-step synthesis of allylic trichloroacetimidates bearing a 2-proparyloxyaryl group has been developed from readily available 2-hydroxybenzaldehydes, and these have been used for the preparation of allylic amide derived 2H-chromenes using an Overman rearrangement and a 6-endo-dig hydroarylation. High yields of the 2H-chromenes were achieved using a stepwise approach involving an Overman rearrangement under thermal conditions followed by a hydroarylation reaction with a gold(I) triflimide catalyst. An alternative method where both reactions were performed as a one-pot process was also developed and instead used a gold(I) chloride catalyst activated by silver(I) hexafluoroantimonate for the cycloisomerization step. The allylic amide derived 2H-chromenes were converted to the corresponding coumarin analogues by a pyridinium dichromate (PDC)-mediated chemoselective allylic oxidation.

Abstract
An efficient gold-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of ortho-O-propargyl-1-one substituted arylaldehydes has been achieved for the generation of substituted aroylbenzo[b]oxepin-3-one derivatives in moderate to good yields. This synthetic transformation proceeds via gold-catalysed oxidation of the internal alkyne moiety followed by an intramolecular condensation leading to seven-membered oxacycles.

Abstract
A general and metal-free radical route to synthesis of 3-acylspiro[4,5]trienones is established that utilizes TBHP (tert-butyl hydrogenperoxide) as an oxidation and a reaction partner to trigger the oxidative ipso-carboacylation of N-arylpropiolamides with aldehydes. This method offers a new difunctionalization of alkynes through oxidative cross coupling of the aldehyde C(sp(2))-H bond with an ipso-aromatic carbon.

Versatile functionalization of the chromone nucleus allows attaining of a chemical diversity suitable to perform structure-activity relationships in drug discovery and development programs. Accordingly, the synthesis and identification of novel chromone carboxamide derivatives with electron-donating and electron-withdrawing substituents in different positions of the exocyclic ring are reported in this work. Their complete structural characterization was performed using one-dimensional and two-dimensional resonance techniques. The data acquired are useful for a prompt analysis of related compounds that encompass our integrated medicinal chemistry sketch.

Abstract
Asymmetric organocatalysis is now an established methodology for the preparation of chiral compounds. However, these are not the only valuable molecules which can be conveniently obtained. Organocatalytic reactions affording achiral compounds are gaining momentum, opening unexplored pathways in the synthesis of densely functionalized aromatic moieties, olefins and useful molecules such as natural substances.

Abstract
A facile and general method leading to polyfunctionalized quinolines was developed. In the presence of a highly efficient combination encompassing (PPh)(3)AuCl and AgOTf, the reactions between 2-aminocarbonyls and an array of internal alkynes proceeded smoothly to afford quinoline derivatives in good to excellent yields (up to 93%).

Abstract
A N-heterocyclic carbene/base-catalyzed cascade reaction leading to the formation of functionalized benzofuranones is reported. The reaction proceeds via an intramolecular hydroacylation of unactivated alkynes followed by an intermolecular Stetter reaction and a base-catalyzed chromanone to benzofuranone rearrangement.
